Love your simple but beautiful beds. I plan on surprising my wife of 38 years. I just retired early and had to go on disability for my failing heart. Your generosity of free plans is greatly appreciated. Decided to open up my cluttered garage and make me a wood shop again for as long as I can, I always said when I retire I refuse to sit down and do nothing. Thanks again and God bless.

What type of wood did you use?
@@nile1929 just regular, affordable wood from Home Depot. We used a paint sprayer and diluted the paint with water to give it more of a stained look. It covered up the reddish hues in the wood. We’ve never been very good at using actual stain.
We built the farmhouse bed almost 10 years ago I feel and it's still as strong and sturdy(&heavy😆) as the day we built it! Your builds are amazing!!

You've out done yourself again Ana. All those bed frames you showed, if built right, will last time after time. A piece of memories from a loved one is priceless.
Those beds are built to last for well over 50 to 200 years. Just depends on how many times there are moved or treated in there life time.
My neighbor had a bed frame, almost like all of these, and it was over 200 years old. Her great, great, great, great, don't know how many greats, but you get the point, that was built by her grandfather & it was all carved w/a little scenery all over the head & foot boards, it was something else to see. Just amazing woodworking & heavy. It took around 4 to 6 people to move it.
Your just a wonderful person to just give all your plans away for free. I'm going to try my hand @ a few one of these days.

I am looking to fuild a bed frame. Moved the build up to my top ten of about a hundred things to build. The good thing, is if I buy a mattress ect. I will then have to build a bed frame.

That's so great! Can't believe you jast gave us all free plans. I'm so so grateful! I've been looking how to make a bed for months and i really like your canopy bed. Quick question though have you ever thought or seen canopy bed with storage build-in? I have yet to come across one.

Really like your design & it's made from wood not particle board! If I were going to build a new bed now, it would probably be a platform bed with rounded (bullnose) edges & a simple headboard. TY for sharing your plans and expertise, it is truly appreciated!!!

Thank you, Ana! Do you (or any comment readers) have recommendations on hardware for a bed that is likely to be disassembled and reassembled a handful of times? My main concern is that screw holes may get weakened over time after a couple of cycles of this. Or if this doesn't seem necessary, that's also good to know.

Where do you typically get your lumber from? Do you have any suggestions what might be the best way to go for getting lumber for making furniture (as opposed to for construction)?
We have a local lumber store and mill. Big box stores work too, but it takes some picking through to find good boards.

Love your videos! Question 🙋🏼♀️ do you need to use a box spring under the mattress. So long story: bought a bed frame and pillow top mattress. And I have traditional split box spring. But it makes my bed 3 feet tall! Would be nice to have a normal bed, and trying to incorporate a doggie spot, dog takes most of the bottom of bed. Considered making a co sleeper but for the dog, wondering if you have any ideas on that? Thanks
Most of these do not require a box spring.
Ana, just found you yesterday and love your videos. Can you or have you done a murphy bed with a desk that stays level when you pull down the bed. Preferably horizontal, but whatever you might have. Thanks

First off, thank you. My husband bought Handbuilt Home for my birthday when it came out & now that I retired (and have some access to tools) wanted to make an Ana White bed. But looking at plans, none seem to incorporate hardware permitting easy disassembly/re-assembly as in moving the bed from one room to another or to another home. All of them seem to be one piece frames making moving the bed seem very awkward. Any advice or suggestions as to videos that may be helpful? Again, thanks I am looking forward to finally building some of those Ana White designs I’ve been drooling over all these years.

Ana, my teenage daughter is going to a queen size bed but I'd like to build it to fit a trundle underneath for sleepovers. Do you have a bed plan for that with taller legs but no center support leg?

I cannot find the plans for #11, Easy Panel Bed on your site.
Do we use the plans for bed #10 (Simple Panel Bed) if we want to build bed #11 (Easy Panel Bed).?
#10 uses screw and brad nails while #11 looks like it uses pocket screws. Thank you.

i love the projects that this lady has and she is very good at what she does,,,,but i have ordered 2 plans and havent recieved them,,they were free and it really dont matter,,but i would caution anyone that actually pays for them,,,

Yeah, free plans with the purchase of $500 worth of pre-cut wood. Sounds like Ikea to me.
Not at all, you can build much higher quality furniture with solid wood. Of course tools are in investment, but over time will save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Thanks for the visit!
