  • I review, breakdown and explain Ragnarok Season 3 Netflix. I discuss the story which was focussed on Magne as Thor as he grew more confident with his powers. I react to the other characters such as Saxa, Fjor, Laurits and Ran along with the other God's and Giants. I compare the show to the original Norse Mythology Lore and explain the ending for Thor. I also give my theories and predictions on a potential season 4 and if the show will ever come back.

      I'm glad the Magne was able to drop his fantasy world and accept Isolde's death, but the ending wasn't the best and it was kind of disappointing because why build up to this ultimate battle of Ragnarok just to turn it into a fantasy, I mean if this was supposed to be the main goal of the show, they could've hinted in first or second season that all these events maybe were real or not...
      I slowly started noticing the plot twist at the end of ep6, when Magne took out the box full of comic books and hammer....
      I really expected more from the show, anyway this was my opinion

    I think it did happen, all of it. However they weren't gods, they were possessed by the gods and giants spirits. Deaths still happened, etc. I think when they chose peace over fighting, the spirits left them. Thor was the last to leave since he wanted war more than any of them. His mind flashed between the war and the realty and when Magne fell to the ground, it was Thor finally leaving him.

    Honestly, the ending is confusing. I just figured that everything that was happening was figuratively speaking in Magne's mind. This season felt rushed in a sense since season 2 came out in 2021 and they kept saying another season was happening but it was being delayed. I don't know I just feel like the last season doesn't match with the energies of the first two seasons which leaves viewers' minds scattered and feeling disappointed.

    • @TripleKmafia
      @TripleKmafia 9 місяців тому +6

      We all feel the same way. Everything was rushed and there wasn’t much character development as the first two seasons. Two new gods are reinstated and they’re total goofballs, Turid marries Erik and it didn’t feel natural at all. Magne doesn’t throw the hammer at ANYONE, he just hits a rock and throws it in the ocean. We never get to see the true power of Mjolnir EVER. He doesn’t even use his lightning abilities a single time. It’s safe to say the writers and producers were rushed because this is a horrible ending. It they couldn’t or wouldn’t spend so much money on CGI for an insane final battle then why make us wait an entire year for an anticlimactic ending? This could’ve been made in a few months.

    I am sad to say this, but I was very disappointed. They spent 2 seasons building up this “final battle”, and then it turns out to not be a final battle at all?! I literally can’t describe how anticlimactic that was. I mean if there weren’t gonna be a battle at all, why even have any gods? Why even give Magne and the others their powers when they didn’t even use them in an actual battle?! 😣 Also remember that Magne didn’t give himself his powers, they were given to him by someone else, and later he was told that whoever got his powers had to pay the highest price, which just adds to the fact that it is really strange if it was all going on in his own head. 🤔

      @victoriapederssen4056 9 місяців тому +79

      That’s exactly the problem, if everything happened in his head everything was basically pointless, plus a lot of the things that happened doesn’t make sense then because quite a few scenes weren’t even shown from Magne’s perspective. So it’s a very weird way to tell a story that takes place in the main character’s head.

      @@nikitaljungdahljavurek6691If that’s the case then I don’t think that was the writers’ plan the whole time. As someone else has just said, so many crucial plot scenes throughout the 3 seasons have taken place without Magne’s presence/knowledge - it wouldn’t make sense for nothing to have ever happened. The hammer in the back of Vidar’s car at the end of episode 1? It seems like a rushed final season ending to me.
      I have just put on an old episode from season one after finishing the third and Magne has just pushed Erik’s car across his driveway with complete ease which is acknowledged by Erik, there is no way there was no powers/gods all along.

    When Magne attempts the lawsuit against Jutul industries, he contacts many former employees connected to them, and even an attorney who agrees with him that he has a case ready for court. Was all this also imagined? In that case, was the fact that all the people he contacted got sick while working at Jutul also in his head. And what about the fact that all of them decides against speaking out in court because they didn't dare to speak out against the Jutuls? Feels like a hollow ending as I see it

      The fact that all the people he contacted got sick may have been magne hindering himself in his own head and the few people he contacted and met who actually was sick got it from somewhere else, again further strengthening his schizophrenia. After seeing the ending I felt like Ragnarok happening in his head was a direct result of him proposing a truce and putting down his weapons. Ragnarok is the destruction of the world so that it may begin again. It could very well be interpreted as happening solely in his head, but i saw it happening in his head because he chose peace. The Giants mentioned being around for thousands of years and experiencing Ragnarok in the past. Perhaps this is a cycle of Ragnarok, and because this incarnation of Thor chose peace the bodies inhabited by the God's were able to continue their lives, while their godly forms died in Magnes head. By choosing peace he stopped the end of the actual world he lived in, unlike previous incarnations of Thor.

    As someone who loved the show and was still a bit disappointed with the ending, i just want to let y’all know that this whole part of Magne being schizophrenic has been teased ever since season 1, i just feel very few people caught on to it, and I can’t blame y’all.
    The thing is that there are very very small details that actually are foreshadowing throughout the entire show.
    Some examples of this is when Magne undergoes diagnosis and therapy and such, and in the last season Ran is the one that goes to therapy, this could be in Magnes imagination wishing the person that “tortured” him undergoes the same process.
    We also see like Saxa, Laurits, Fjor and all that pick up the hammer that he changes the stories in his head, just like somebody would do in real life to make a cool plot in their imagination. I also never understood why Magne didn’t just call on Mjølner at any point after the world serpent swallowed it, so i would assume this was for the plot.
    I feel the final battle was both to satisfy the audience while staying on track, in norse mythology, Thor dies after taking nine steps after his battle with the world serpent, this is what happens in the show as well, where Magnes alter ego, Thor dies when he finally graduates and becomes an adult, no longer needing his coping mechanism.

    Dear fans, unfortunately it was all in the schizo mind of Magne. It is clear at the end of s3ep6 when he throughs away the comic books he is looking at a medieval style house. When the comics are thrown and looks at the house again it is a normal house. I think he was schizo because of his father death. When he returned back at his hometown things get worst. Magne was always this damaged boy and we watched how he decided to leave his escapist fantasies and live his life instead. It was a story about a growing up and becoming a man. Not just for Magne, but for Lauritz, Fjor, and probably many more characters.... I guess the only issues is some plotholes, like the boy who was hit by the ancient arrow - was he real? Or was he completely imagined? How did the father of Fjor and Saxa actually die? Did Magne, as part of his fantasies, really killed him and was the giant mother really scared of Magne? .... unexplained

I like the idea of Magne moving on after the peace between the giants and the gods, but I don't like the idea of the main points of the series might have been in Magne's imagination. It just comes across as a cop out for the entire series. As far as I'm concerned, everything except part of the series finale was real. The gods and giants were real, and Magne is just trying to figure out his future without being the reincarnated Thor. That's my personal head canon anyway.

    I loved the ending. I had enjoyed the show, but was expecting it to end as a typical mytho-fantasy film or TV show-which we did get to see in the CGI battle scenes with the serpent-, but then to realise that this is actually a story about mental illness and psychological trauma in a young man’s life, that was unexpected and much more interesting and moving. The fact that the audience comes to this realisation at the same moment that the character does is quite brilliant: through three seasons we haven’t questioned this reality, and then it shatters in a heartbreaking way.

  • @jingkhaitan8625
    @jingkhaitan8625 7 місяців тому

    id like to propose a theory:
    everything that happened did happen. when magne proposed a truce, both the gods and giants reaped the benefits e.g. fjor getting with his secretary, saxa taking charge of the company, laurits finding love, magne reconciling with his friends etc.
    as for why the giants would want to keep this lifestyle, perhaps it’s because they have grown to appreciate humanity more. one example is when Ran consistently approaches the school councillor for emotional support, even though she is aware that he does not fully believe her fear of death by magnes hammer. or when Fjor desires to love a human more than he desires to kill, which was his primal instinct due to Vidar’s teachings. on top of that, they get to be alive, without fighting an impossible battle against the giants.
    the Gods are content with their lifestyle as well, e.g. Iman and the other guy both have jobs where they are happy , and Wotan as Odin finally sees peace and decides to leave it as it is.
    as for the Midgard Serpent Jormugandr ( Laurits tapeworm) perhaps it could actually have swam out of the Fjord and traversed into the deep oceans outside of Edda. after all it is well known that the ocean is still very much unknown to us, which brings the possibility that it could join the other unknown creatures that roam the oceanbed.
    as for the graduation scene, Magne did indeed hallucinate the war into real life, due to him reading about the comic version of the battle right before, and due to his awareness that someone was handling a bow outside the hall.
    however, in this universe the child didnt in fact somehow shoot the arrow directly at heimdall, and Laurits didnt go insane and wage war etc. hence nothing actually happened and the war did not spark.
    at the end , when Signy came to find Magne again, he faltered when he saw the love of his life. maybe it was then that he decided to put all of the powers and caution away, and to just enjoy life like any other teenager would.
    in conclusion: everything that happened did happen, just that both the Gods and Giants are now content and happy ( for now) and they decide to get along and live out this life with their human friends, and Ragnarok was averted( which is still something i didnt like)
    hence this theory can support these incidents:
    - Vidar did indeed kill Isolde
    - Ran did shoot the old lady who could transform into a raven
    - Magne did kill Vidar in his home, rather than Vidar dying of a heart attack
    - Fjor turned back from leaving with Gry due to the callings of his father through his Giant genes
    all the trial tests Magne did to test the extent of his abilities were real ( e.g. throwing a hammer across a football field, running sub 7 seconds in a 100m track, bending a metal bat in front of laurits, running down the mountain at an impossibly fast time etc. ) and they were not part of his hallucinations.
    again, this entire theory is just my way of coping with this incomprehensibly bad and anticlimactic finale of a once well written and genuinely interesting series.

    I actually like the 3rd season however I do have a couple suggestions
    1. The show should’ve been longer at least 8 episodes tops only because it’s the grand finale
    2. Why weren’t there any talk about saxa possibly being pregnant by mugna for in Norse myth saxa the giantess is impregnated by Thor ( that would’ve been a 8 part worthy for the season)
    3. Instead of incorporating schizophrenia I believe they should’ve really made it into a fiction where as there was possibly that Gods & Giants were living amongst mortals and kept the story going from there. Like a true blood type situation ( if you ever watched true blood you’ll know what I mean )
    Conclusion I do love the message at the ending how everyone found love or truly found love within themselves and unity ☺️

    I thoroughly enjoyed the boldness to take on the Norse Mythology and thought first few seasons they smashed it with a modern retelling/coming of age drama. I was able to suspend disbelief for the usual streaming services rhetoric and poet licence with plots and character development.
    I won’t judge too harshly but was left after final episode saying “this ain’t it!”
    Got this feeling as the last couple of episodes of season went on that however they got down to the stage of ragnarok there’s a chance of the whole “it was all a dream” and he was gonna be back in the car just arriving at Edda. A kind lazy writing way of wrapping it up and giving audience opportunity to interruption.
    Magne transmuted all season between mr thundercock carrying a designer bag and being corrupted by power then into Gollum over the power and seduction of the hammer and then final form turned into Leonardo in shutter island??
    Of course esoterically we can obtain many things from the end and series, how the energies and stories exist within us or how cycles need to be broken or fulfilled, death, rebirth etc or simply how these events may occur outside of perceived reality we experience in Midgard.
    But that’s if you wanna dig cause on the surface I think they settled with the coming of age drama stuff.

    Hi, thank you for this video! I wanted to hear about other people's analysis and opinions, as the ending shook me up. I've loved this series immensely, and for many years, as I think it always had a huge potential. Season 1 and 2 were amazing, and I've watched them time and again. Right now, I'm still processing, especially the ending. I know many people will think it was disappointing and a waste of their time, but I choose to remember the journey rather than the destination. This modern take on Norse Mythology, with Scandinavian actors and languages, was a breath of fresh air.
    I think season 3 was rushed and stayed on the surface. Character development wasn't at its best. To me, it feels like season 3 ended with episode 5, and that episode 6 was just the writers ticking "showing Ragnarok to please the fans because our plot was all about it" off their to do list. I think the idea of peace over war is nice and still could've been incorporated into the storyline without the series losing something along the way.
    I could be wrong but I had never heard about Magne's love for superheroes, especially Thor, during his childhood. On the contrary, based on season 1 and 2, it seemed to me that he didn't know much about it, and that Erik played an important role in that regard, for both Magne and Laurits, as well as the viewers. Many things were added during episode 6, and I feel like it was a really bad move.
    I've settled on believing that everything was real (them being gods reincarnated), and that Magne actually had to go through Ragnarok, in one way or another, to kill Thor and fulfill the "prophecy" + to be himself again. Thor needed to die, as Ragnarok demands it, it had to be done and that's OK with me. I think all the other gods should have gone through the same thing in order for the characters to live on normally. However, it wouldn't have made sense for the giants, as they never were reincarnations. Maybe the Jutuls should've been giants reincarnated so that in the end they can all be friends, as the ending showed. Either that, or true peace between giants and gods, with them having all their powers and abilities, even Magne (like episode 5 hinted at). I guess it feels like the show chose a sort of in-between.
    The theory that it was all in Magne's head is not something I believe in, and I think it was rather confusing. However, your video explained it in a very insightful way. Well done!

    But the twist they threw at us, man, it really let me down,

    'Cause "Ragnarok" on Netflix, man, it left me feeling lean 🎵

    Right so Isolde death didn’t have to do with anything bc he got them before she died bc I remember he fixed his bike with his bear hands and that and secondly fuijors death addiction stopped was bc he fed the bodies to the serpent and the serpent was big enough for his plan which was leaving magne in the middle of the sea or lake idk what to call it

    There were clues in the show that looking back were indications that the giants vs gods aspect might have been in Magne's head. The death of Vidar for one, who really did die, but didn't turn to dust, how could his death have been ruled a heart attack if he been reduced to a pile of dust? With Wenche as well, no one in the town was talking about any one being reduced to dust. Also, the gods and the giants agreeing to have a final battle at the warehouse and no one bringing up how this was going to look to the police.

    If all of it was in his head, What really happened then? Did he now really saw Laurits/Loki gazing at his fabulous existance in the mirror pretending he is the gorgeous Loki? Or that his brother gave birth to a monster worm? Or Vidar running naked on the mountains and killing animals and eating their heart?

    • @justalex137
      @justalex137 9 місяців тому

      He was fine getting called Loki aslong his brother accept him, its a conservative town... He read that Loki was bisexual and he liked that idea. He knew his brother was wracked, same as all other people around him. Giant dude died by a heart attack. Saxa liked the freak because she was bored of others, also he had a glow up. His girlfriend was cute and she actually wanted to stop the relationship, but did not want to lose him to saxa, so she asked for another try. The giant dude was just hunting. Both, killing animals and poisoning the environment was real.
      Honestly the only unrealistic thing in the serious was that the news reported the truth... 😂😅

    when the ending was unraveling before my eyes I was so confused and when he died in his head but didn't IRL the fear that I was getting in that scene came true, I realized I was right and I couldn't believe they pulled the "it was all in his head" I was somewhat triggered I wouldn't have such issue with the ending if the show had TEASED AT ALL or if it made sense that it was all fake or if the show was actually about Magne's disorder but the whole show was building up to RAGNAROK, it's the name of the show, it's the name of the last episode, for it to not be real to me felt lazy or idk, like they couldn't live up to the expectations so they just changed the ending

    i see everybody hating on the show's ending but after watching this video i made up my decision i personally think the ending was something different that you can't possibly imagine i know there are some plotholes in the ending, but in the last fight in magne's brain just shows that how in the whole series all the scenes were actually nothing but fantasy in his head not reality and the writers wanted audience to fantasize the reality.(I don't care about plotholes i give it a 10on10 for the efforts made by writers to make it something different then usual mythological based tv shows)

    I didn't mind the ending myself. Throughout the story I was noticing these loopholes where the giants had the clear upper hand but didn't kill any of the main cast. For an evil species that didn't make sense that they were letting him grow stronger when they knew he was growing stronger. Sure at some point they mentioned that "they wanted to do it as it was written", but the fights/heated conversations that broke out before the new moon and S2 onwards seemed like the giants could have simply ended Magne there without caring for what any prophecy dictates.
    So when the ending was revealed that finally made sense to me. Also Fjor's comment "Not in this world atleast" did strike me as kind of odd. It didn't fit with the conversation to me. So I am fine with how it all ended, especially since it felt that at the end atleast one giant (not Loki though) will be left alive by the writers because someone needs to run that big corporation. So I was sure not all of them would die.
    That said, I'm still confused about which parts to what degree were in his head. And how many didn't even take place at all and it was simply him daydreaming in his room, including the parts where he wasn't in the scene but the conversations happening were about gods and giants and the actions were fantasy. Maybe he read those scenes in the comics and imagined them in his head? Its hard to untangle fact from fiction without a second watch. And I don't watch movies or tv series with the purpose of analysing them, so I hope I can find a good enough youtube video that does it for me.

    So I might be a little biased but Thor’s arrogance is what makes him the god of thunder! Just like with the Marvel character. Honestly, I wasn’t here for the writers to tell me that thor is a fantasy from Norse mythology. I know that. Why couldn’t they just dive into the whole fantasy of it all and give us a real coming age story with a young thor doing what he does best? He should’ve rained a lightning storm on a real villain (which fjor could’ve been). All in all this show needed more action and less reality drama. 4/10

    I was actually afraid of watching the ending after I heard so much bad things about it. So I was surprised that I really loved the ending. To me, it all made so much sense. As a boy who is suffering from psychic issues (maybe since his father died) it is clear that more stress makes things worse (moving into another town, then the death of his friend) and can make schizophrenia even worse. So he relies on his "safe space" from happy childhood days, his comics. To me, it is okay not to know exactly how saxas father died. I think, in the final episode, we get a good impression of how magnes imaginations relate to reality. So maybe there was a fight with jutul family, maybe all that was just in his head because he saw them as the cause of isoldes dead. I found the final episode very moving (to see how the mother, "odin" and other outcasts stand by his side to get on a peaceful path again and motivate him to allow himself to love).

    Great show and beautiful ending ..the clues were there right from the beginning that this was a schizophrenic fantasy/break born as a coping mechanism for the loss he suffered with isolde, we also get to see the final battle in his mind and his emerging from the other side of his schizophrenic break in the shows final moments best of both worlds....what more could you ask for and also Netflix finishing a show to conclusion for once.....Most Excellent

    I will miss that show. It was campy, quirky, low budget fun. The ending was a bummer. I doubt anyone will be happy with it. That they lead us to think it was all in his head and just a fantasy he'd created do to PTSD, was a lazy cop out. I don't know why so many otherwise great series can't deliver a great ending.

    What if Magne was shocked enough to believe that everything that had happened was in his mind, when in fact everything had really happened? I believe that it was all true, but after the absurd events of the battle, everything was too much to bear, so once the ragnarok is over, Magne is forced to get back to the "real world" and imagine that everything that happened was in his own head, because he was too upset to remain sane. His mind defended him from the reality of a reincarnation, and after his purpose as a hero was fulfilled, he had to be able to get back living in the real world, and as consequence forgetting everything, and convince himself that he had imagined everything. 🤔

    The problem is that the ending doesn't make any sense at all. On the one hand there is clear evidence that he made it all up (The house of the Jutuls e.g. what changes in the penultimate scene when Magne takes a closer look), on the other hand Magne has no glasses. How can schizophrenia restore vision?

    I think it still could have been a good ending with him having mental illness...what i would have liked is to see the alternate reality...the main events in real world which he hallucinated and twisted with his imaginary stories..if I re-watch the show, I want to be able to see the events and be convinced that he was mentally sick..but most of the events don't make sense and i feel like left with many unanswered questions
