Yes! Patagonia had this outer material years ago ("stormfront") BUT only in a sling or boat bag formats. Glad to see Simms taking the lead w/ true hydrophobic gear. They did it w/ zipped waders first, Patagonia followed. Now they can have the leading name across both product verticals again. BRAVO!
I’ve got one of the old Simms Roll Top Bags Brian and it’s seen lots of use and never let me down. The new ones look great too. Super safe to keep your tackle and camera gear bone dry when out boat fishing in a sudden downpour. Great stuff. Love the vids👍👍🎣🎣🐳🐳
Sorry, it's the moldmaker in me ... TPU stands for thermoplastic polyurethane. It is an improved form of thermoplastic elastomer. ... The main difference between TPU and PU is that TPU has no cross-links whereas PU can have cross-links based on the type of polyols used.
They make great stuff. They do let us down from time-to-time but they always pick us back up again. On Brian's old bag, the zipper gave out on a trip and he had to use bungie cords to keep it together on the trip home. They replaced it for him though with this one so they made up for it....and then some.
@@Madriveroutfitters luckily in Norway, it is possible to send simms stuff to fly fish europe for repair. One cannot stay on top always, and there are many good options out there, like patagonia. Btw: I'm not sponsored :-)
This thing caught my eye the moment I saw it in a catalog, but I am not sure it is worth the money for me. I don't mind spending good money on great gear, but I wonder if I would be perfectly fine with a roll top bag for half the price?!?! any ideas or things to say to make me lean one way or another?
From Alaska to the Bahamas, Brian takes this thing everywhere! What do you think?!
If its good enough for Brian, its good enough for me. Ordering one this weekend.
You won't regret it. Great piece of luggage.

Jim Coraci Agreed. Thanks for being here.
Cheers for the video. I love the new roll top Dry Creek pack - it's feather light and now used daily.
Thanks for watching. Gonna review that one soon and agreed, they are very light.
Great review my friend, thank you for sharing. It looks a great product for every Outdoors person. All the best to you. 🤗
Ronald Rose Thanks for being here. Stay tuned.

Thanks for watching. This type of bag is pretty essential on trips and many agree. We sell a ton of them but this one will lead the pack for 2020.

Thanks for sharing. No need to be sorry. Pretty impressive knowledge there.
Could you guys compare this pack with the fishpond packs? Keep up the great videos!
Maybe send a request over to the shop so Brian will see it. Thanks for watching.
great idea!
I supposed those side mounted lash down points, are for rod tubes? I would prefer a few more small pockets, but it looks pretty good.
Yes, lash points for rods/tubes or anything that you would like to lash.
@@Madriveroutfitters So, I could lash a Pigmy or 3 down? Or a goose?
Chris Sewell Just a few of the many possibilities yes.
after chasing steelhead down a raging river bank in Oregon over the weekend, ive decided a PFD might not be a bad idea.....or this backpack! ;-)
FisherMaine It would literally work. No kidding.
Simms never let you down. Their freestone back pack is also great.

Good looking pack
Ronald Fisher It certainly is. And wildly useful.
I want the cloud camo for my food pack when on canoe trips. So when suspended between 2 trees, 10 feet in the air maybe the bears won't see it.
Good call!
Great review Brian....... just in time too my zippers are getting worn 🤔
Major improvement in the zipper deal on these.

Robbie S. We can assure you that it is in fact... great gear.
Robbie S. Please contact the shop and they will be happy to discuss/consult.
Nice job 👍
Thanks for watching.
Love it. It’s on my list of purchases for the year. #likebutter seriously made me lol (laugh out loud)
Thanks so much for watching.
But $300?? How do they justify the price?
Compare with any other submersibles.....Fishpond, Orvis, Patagonia. They are all right there and this is the best of the bunch as of 2020.
That 300 dollar price tag is steep. I would just stick with my 50 dollar fishing backpack and dryloc bags inside.
@@Madriveroutfitters I guess it's more: what makes any of these bags worth $300?
Alex Christian You’d have to speak to the manufacturers about that. We don’t make the prices.
Paul Mailliard You can....this is America.
