I have that same model and several nite ize cubes with same zipper. Armor all wipe! use finger nail to guide it in the grooves and it will run smooth and slick again..
Just came across your video. I have the sling version of this and haven’t had any issues so far. I really want the backpack version for some of my longer expeditions. I’m hoping it was a fluke with your bag. Glad to see your problem was resolved.
Thank you, very honest review! Well actually it’s crazy price for waterproof backpack. And some issues not acceptable. Course they can replace you but only 6 month not very hard use, well I changed my mind buy it for self.
Cas Austin I needed up going with fishpond. I have a brand new submersible thunderhead backpack and 100l bag I bought new and never used and now I’m selling cheap because I have no use for them!
Thanks for your honest review. I've been seriously considering purchasing one of these and haven't found a lot of reviews yet. Could you provide a little more detail into how the failure occurred? i.e. Is it leaking water? Is it not an air tight seal? Is there abrasion on the zip? Is it coming un-stitched?, etc. Thanks
Had my Patagonia Stormfront Sling for 2 years now and 3 saltwater trips. Even went swimming with rental car Keys, phone and everything in it. Its a superb product. Was curious if simms could match that and in this case seems like they Cant!
Thanks for the comment and inquiry. I took it back to my local fly shop (where the purchase was made) and they worked with Simms to replace it. So far the replacement, while not used extensively, has had no failures.
@@richpeace5575 the TRU Zip technology is supposed to be the new best things since sliced bread... but it looks like TRU-Zip maybe a hit or miss at this time. Good to read that Simms replaced as they do have good "If your SIMMS product fails due to a defect in workmanship or materials, SIMMS will repair or replace your gear and get you back on the water as soon as possible" . I wonder how long they'll replace due to bad TRU-zips... 3 years? 5 years? Website doesn't say. Thanks for the vid Rich ! I'm still on the fence on whether to go with Fishpond or Simms. Is it possible all this water proof zipper technology is not yet reliable and we're better off with a roll top dry bag backpack?

Respect the honesty - def love that cloud camo for sure
Yeah these are really expensive. It's not just Simms either. Orvis's bag is around $230! Crazy.
Appreciate the honesty in the review.

Hey did you ever sell those bags? Im interested if they are still available.
Little late sorry
Can you be more specific and do a update video? Why is the seal opening at the top? What’s inside?
Thanks for your honest review! If I can't keep my things safe from the water then what's the point?
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the comment. Basically, when zipper is fully closed the top opens. So the seal is faulty. It just doesn’t stay sealed.

Overall would you say this purchase would be good
Yes, assuming the zipper stays functional.
@@richpeace5575 thank you
update?
