You’re spot on with your analysis IMO. On its surface, the song is a standard “I want to get back in your life” love song. But the song has a deeper meaning for ABBA and it’s fans. From the moment the band broke up in 1982 the world has been begging for a reunion, but they always resisted. Now 40 years have passed and they’re mentally and spiritually ready to go through it again. This song is their way of saying “Ok, you asked for it and we’re back. But please understand time has passed, we’ve grown and please accept that growth and change.”

"I have learned to cope and love and hope, is why I am here now!" Great lyric and inspiring for anyone to hear from another human being, especially a group like ABBA!
Isn't it great that all members of ABBA are in their 70s now? Agnetha is now 71, Anni-Frid is 75, Benny's 76 and Bjorn is 75. And after a 40 year hiatus, for ABBA to have come up with these 2 georgous newly released songs are unbelievable, right? Plus a whole 10 song new album is coming out this 5th November 2021😍 Don't Shut Me Down has Agnetha on lead vocals while I Still Have Faith in You has Anni-Frid on lead vocals.. Agnetha is a soprano and Anni-Frid is a mezzo-soprano, both voices have their own strengths and class, and when these 2 harmonises, its pure bliss and joy as these harmonies ARE the sound of ABBA! Not to forget the other 2, Benny and Bjorn who have always been great composers, truly sublime in their lyrical and music compositions, music arrangements and production. Do react to their 2nd new song, I Still Have Faith in You ❤️
Björn is the eldest (born on April 25th 1945 then Anni-Frid born on November 15th 1945 then Benny born on December 16th 1946 and finally Agnetha born on April 5th 1950.
I had some tears when Abba broke back in the day, was usual play at my parents house, so it's a warm childhood memory, this track is in repeat in my car
Lead singer in this song is Agnetha (the blonde). She was married to Bjorn (lyricist, usually played the guitar). They had two children. She wanted to be there for her kids. Her main reason for leaving. Anni-Frid (the redhead) was married to Benny the pianist. They were only married three years and also divorced, no children. They’re responding to their fans plea to return and are ready to do so. Nice reaction
If you ever get to see Abba Voyage it is absolutely amazing such a fantastic show, I would go again in a heart beat, you will not be disappointed it's like they have never been away.
You're interpretation of this song is spot on. Many fans have the same interpretation. Please help spread the music of ABBA in America as wide as possible. It's just what the world needs right now. Much love from Melbourne Australia ❤️

There are two new songs. The other one, I Still Have Faith in You, features Anni-Frid (Frida) on lead vocals. Her voice is equally magnificent and the two of them, Frida and Agnetha, together complement each other as beautifully as any two voices have ever done. I'd love for you to be more familiar with Frida's voice. Some wonderful songs she sings lead on are Andante Andante, Like An Angel Passing Through My Room, I let the Music Speak, The Visitors, and the classic Fernando. Just to get you started.
To a long time Abba fan, it's totally amazing that they have made music together again after 40 years. I'm still shocked!! And it's like they've never been away. Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn, Ana-Frid. Legends!! Try "Name of the Game" "Knowing Me, Knowing You" "Chiquita" "Fernando" "Thank you for the Music" the list is endless. Much love from England 🏴
Apart from the exceptional music, the lyrics to this one have already become a new code of communication to Abba fans. ABBA"s "friendly ability" is disarmingly adorable.Welcome back we definetely wont shut them down!
The 2 new song's are great, my Dad loved this group sadly lost him in 2000, he also loved the Beatles. He made his granddaughter fans, we rocked out to ABBA songs good memories.
@@scm021374 😀 They had the same problem a couple of weeks again. It sounds like a lead not plugged in correctly or a loose wire in a plug type of effect
I thought they were doing it purposely to keep the video from being blocked, but if not then they definitely need to correct it. Unbelievably, some reactors are being blocked for these two new songs. I can't believe it's due to Bjorn or Benny, so I'm guessing UA-cam is doing it.
Bjorn likes lyrics that can be interpreted in different ways, so it can be both about them or a relationship in general. After 40 years, it just takes you back. They sound the same, and the Abbatars on stage are their movements combined with technology to make them look like they did back then. I'm so thankful that they got back together. I've been praying for them for decades after their painful parting so what an answer!
I love your reaction on this song. As a fan, Abba invokes many memories from the 70's and now 40 years later they do it again so this was kind of emotional and means much and now that Abbatars were created they are forever immortalized. Even though they are in their 70's they still have that 70's sound. They created so many hook songs. I'm 71 yrs and overjoyed that the younger gen can enjoy Abba. I per-ordered their Voyage album coming Nov 4. Thank you both Peace..
ABBA "winner takes it all" is about Agnetha and Björn's divorce prior the bands break up. It's another good but sad song. They have soo many good song to choose from!
ABBA. their music is timeless. Anyone criticizing Abba, can rest in the sure knowledge, they are part of the minority. Every song is exquisite and embraces all generations. The music, the voices, the harmonies, the lyrics are next level. Of all their songs, it's difficult to select a favourite but I'll have a stab at it. 'The day before you came'. From an aging OZ devotee.
The girls have still got it. I can hear bits of previous ABBA songs weaved into this. ABBA Voyage will be a digital concert experience like no other, from one of the world's biggest pop acts in a custom-built arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.
There isn't really a lead singer. It depends on the song and how the voices suit it. Like with the Beatles. Sometime Paul will lead or it could be John or George - even occasionally Ringo.
I was 20 in 1975 when Abba was a worldwide phenomenon. Waterloo is very iconic. Mamamia and Fernando... probably their most well known . They were massive!...... Sympathies for your loss :(
Growing up ABBAs music was a very big part of life. When I heard they had released new music I was so excited. I can't wait till the new album is available. Thank you for your reaction! That's how music survives. Sharing.
You both need to hear " I still have faith in you" .. its definitely a must..both females are lead sings .. Agnetha is blond ..Anni-Frid is brunette..Benny is on piano or synthesizer keyboard and Bjorn on guitar..Merry Christmas and God bless you and your family always..
You don't know the feelings ABBA's return has evoked in this old timer who grooved on ABBA in the 70's. I can't wait until I get hold of ABBA's VOYAGE CD. My old boom box is going to be playing sweet ABBA music through the house again!
Technically, this was the second song. The first one, after almost 40 years, was I Still Have Faith In You, led by Frida. It also has a touching video.

You're both so perceptive in your reactions. You're the first I've seen who understood the message behind the song. They released a 2nd song the same day that Frieda sings called I still have faith in you which is beautiful, well worth a listen 🙂
Hey great song great reaction. Love this song and the fact they are are doing concerts with super real looking avatars or abbatars as their fans are calling them. They built a special stadium for it. The band members spent months wearing some ial suits with 160 special cameras that captured every move so it's actually them. A must see. Can you PLEASE DO THE OTHER HIT SONG FROM THEIR NEW ALBUM 'I still have faith in you" Frida ( the brunette) does lead vocals and it is amazing. The band broke up because they were 2 married couples that got divorced.
You are correct “Don’t shy me down” ,Deals with agnetha’s relationship with bjorn long after their divorce ,Hence being in the park outside their old apartment and her surprise decision to reform the band. The other song “I still have faith in you” deals with Anifrida and Bennie’s relationship and how she still has faith in him ,when he suggested the reunion of the group.
These lyrics are so brilliant. They have so many layers one can find, like of course the personal level, now and then and personal transformation, but also them being reloaded and decoded as Abbatars, don`t shut me down. How amazing is that? This song got immediately stuck in my head, I absolutely love it. And hearing those voices again after 39 years still sounding as amazing as ever, is like a miracle. I really love watching your reaction. Thank you.

Beautiful, thank you for sharing your reaction❤ They started the group 1972 in Sockholm, Sweden, broke it up 1982 (Agnetha and Björn divorced 1978, Frida and Benny in 1981) they are now 71, 74, 75 and 76 years of age. This was indeed uplifting. Just plain awesome and gorgeous. Welcome back Abba, and much appreciation for sharing the good vibes. We appreciate y'alls, too!
After 40 years the genius songwriting of Benny and Bjorn is a good as ever. The lyrics and the dual meaning behind them of someone wanting to come back into a former loved ones life but also the metaphor for the bands comeback are incredibly clever and the musical arrangement is just exceptional and has that clever ABBA “hook” that you just can’t help but keep on singing. The vocals of the girls are as sensational as they’ve always been, especially Agnetha,s lead vocals and I for one am over the moon that they have released this new material and can’t wait for the new album to be released in November. For me ABBA are completely unrivalled in the pop music world, there will never be anyone again who can produce brilliant pop songs like they do. So Sorry to hear your sad news, sending love and prayers to you all 🙏🙏 💜
This is a great review. Unfortunately I hear there won't be anymore "new" songs. But this was a big event in the music world. Thank you for covering it!
Thanks for the reaction! The world has always been brighter because of ABBA. Who knew they'd bring even more joy to the world in 2021? There are actually two women who sing. The acronym ABBA stands for Agnetha, Björn, Benny, and Anni-Frid. Agnetha is singing lead vocals here. The other song released from their upcoming album, "I Still Have Faith in You" has Anni-Frid (called Frida by fans) singing lead vocals. When Agnetha and Frida sing together, nothing short of magic happens! BTW, this is not a "new sound." It's totally classic ABBA! Thanks again. So sorry to hear the sad news about your friends.
They released two new singles. The other track ‘Istill have faith in you’ has a video and the lead singer is Frida (Annifrid). The lead singer on DSMD is Agnetha. Hope you react to that too. It’s gorgeous.
You guys are so right. The lyrics have a double meaning, and it's a love song to their fans as well as a story of a woman returning for a second chance. It tells the story of ABBA turning away from the limelight in the early 80's because they'd had enough and now returning older and wiser to the joy of their fans. 'You asked me not to leave, well here I am again and I love you still and so I won't pretend...I have learned to cope, and love & hope is why I am here now...' Exactly what the world needs now to lift it's spirits, the return of ABBA! 💖
It's been a while since you've reacted to an ABBA song. you should really look at the infectious piano riffs & powerful vocal harmonies of "Chiquitita". Also "Fernando". Both songs have a similar feel and reflect a Spanish/Mexican influence you might not expect to hear from a Sweedish Band.
If ever there was a time for some happy joyous uplifting music it must be now. Thank you Abba, and thank you Rob Squad Reactions for giving the review and publicity to this song.
Not gonna lie. I teared up hearing a new ABBA song. It’s not that everything was better back then, they weren’t (most of my peers have rose colored glasses), but whenever an ABBA song is playing, everything seems better. So my memories from the 70s that involve ABBA music are always happy. The world could really use some ABBA right now. Btw, the blonde, Agnetha, is not the lead singer. She and Anafrid both sing lead.

I’m glad ABBA is back!!!!! When they are on it’s time to dance and sing!!!!! I love it!!!!!!!
Plus a whole 10 song new album is coming out this 5th November 2021😍
Don't Shut Me Down has Agnetha on lead vocals while I Still Have Faith in You has Anni-Frid on lead vocals..
Both Agneta and Annefrid are in their mid seventies now. Their voices have matured but they are still there...
I had some tears when Abba broke back in the day, was usual play at my parents house, so it's a warm childhood memory, this track is in repeat in my car
Totally unique ABBA have always been good for the world. 👍 Making people smile since 1972. 🤗
They’re as great as ever. And I’m saying prayers for your friends.
The World needs this, as far as Music🙏 For US, thank you ABBA.
beautiful so happy they did this! ❤
spent many hours listening to ABBA
ABBA IS MUSICAL ROYALTY. MY FAVE BAND SINCE 1974. WHEN AGNETHA AND ANNI-FRID JOIN FORCES VOCALLY, A THIRD POWERFUL VOICE JUST EXPLODES THROUG YOUR LOUDSPEAKERS. BUY ALL 8 ABBA STUDIO ALBUMS, SOON ALL 9, YOU WON'T REGRET IT 🤩🤩🤩🤩
There are two new songs.
MORE ARE COMING AS WELL !!! 💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻
So happy !!!
@@nebelungpixie9373 So am I! I have already preordered the album. I've been a huge fan for over 40 years. These are exciting times!
super trouper as well ❤️🩹😍
Amazing they sound the same 40 years later. They are all in their 70’s now. Such an unexpected and amazing reunion.
Their instrumentation, as always, is amazing. Great reaction. Thanks for sharing.
So glad ABBA is back. I highly recommend Fernando from their heyday.
The 2 new song's are great, my Dad loved this group sadly lost him in 2000, he also loved the Beatles. He made his granddaughter fans, we rocked out to ABBA songs good memories.
I've been with this Band since the Second Grade, there's a HUGE SMILE ON MY FACE😃🤍🙏 AMAZING!🔥
This has never been done before, just think about it, new music after 40 years, with this quality, unbelievable.
Guys, your sound quality is breaking up again
I thought I was the only one hearing it. Kept unplugging my headphones. Lol
@@scm021374
😀
They had the same problem a couple of weeks again. It sounds like a lead not plugged in correctly or a loose wire in a plug type of effect
It has been driving me nuts for weeks off and on and I keep looking for comments.
It happens are the time for me!
Deep lyrics for ABBA. The harmonies are still great and that's what always made ABBA great.
I still love their voices and dancing queen was everything to me.
I am so excited that ABBA has comeback with amazing tech visuals and their amazing sound...Thank you guys, Blessings
How is it possible that I'm smiling and crying at the same time?
Love your comments on another great song from my favourite musical act ever.
I have watched a lot of reaction vids re this song but you guys GET IT!/ Love you both for that!
Shiny! My dad and I just enjoying the music! =)
Chiquita or Fernando are fun ABBA songs.
Love this song and their other new one. I think both songs are about them coming back and they hope we will accept them.
ABBA "winner takes it all" is about Agnetha and Björn's divorce prior the bands break up. It's another good but sad song. They have soo many good song to choose from!
You lovelies got it 100%, well reviewed and that amazing smiles on your faces, you both look adorable!!
ABBA. their music is timeless.
ABBA Voyage will be a digital concert experience like no other, from one of the world's biggest pop acts in a custom-built arena at Queen Elizabeth
Olympic Park, London.
There isn't really a lead singer. It depends on the song and how the voices suit it.
Like with the Beatles. Sometime Paul will lead or it could be John or George - even occasionally Ringo.
ABBA is one of those bands that will get your foot tapping, no matter song your listening to!!
40 years on...I bawled my frigging eyes out first time hearing this
I was 20 in 1975 when Abba was a worldwide phenomenon.
Sharing.
They're in their 70s and they're still rockin!😊
You both need to hear " I still have faith in you" .. its definitely a must..both females are lead sings .. Agnetha is blond ..Anni-Frid is brunette..Benny is on piano or synthesizer keyboard and Bjorn on guitar..Merry Christmas and God bless you and your family always..
You don't know the feelings ABBA's return has evoked in this old timer who grooved on ABBA in the 70's. I can't wait until I get hold of ABBA's VOYAGE CD. My old boom box is going to be playing sweet ABBA music through the house again!
It’s like no time has passed at all.
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee it’s good - they’re doing their thing. :)
Technically, this was the second song. The first one, after almost 40 years, was I Still Have Faith In You, led by Frida. It also has a touching video.
Such a great back catalogue from this group. Try Our Last Sunmer
Song of hope. Lotsa ABBA songs of course from the 70s still to explore. Thanks again for being so open to new music and ur take on this song. Praying the God of comfort so invade the hearts of ur friends and shed His Peace throughout their lives letting them know how big is His LOVE for them and their daughter at this time and always.
CHIQUITITA
TAKE A CHANCE ON ME
KNOWING ME KNOWING YOU
FERNANDO
Imagine growing up with ABBA then suddenly, after 40 years, being gifted with a brand new, totally ABBA song?!?!?!
deep guys. you know it. I agree they are reaching out to the fans...not in a bad greedy way.
I feel like crying when I listen to this song. It feels like I found my long lost friend and we are back together again.
The two girls are the lead singers. They still have the magic ♥
Fernnando is a masterpiece! I love all ABBA music, but Fernando is my single most favorite of all their music.
Thank you.
Really Great Reaction.....however NEARLY ROB NEARLY MY FRIEND.....You were with a Whisker of pausing 5 seconds from the end and I was watching that dreaded right hand of yours like a HAWK and when I saw it move to pause I thought NOOOO but at the last moment, you realized and let the last few seconds play. You can always glance over to see how much time is left, my friends. As it was it was a GREAT REACTION as you paused (if you must ) at the right times and you both got the message immediately which some of the other 32 Reactors I have seen , so far, never realised so, ultimately, well done. LET THE MUSIC FLOW,My Friends :)
Beautiful, thank you for sharing your reaction❤ They started the group 1972 in Sockholm, Sweden, broke it up 1982 (Agnetha and Björn divorced 1978, Frida and Benny in 1981) they are now 71, 74, 75 and 76 years of age. They are great musicians and singers, always use live orchestra.
If you want to smile (and get plenty views😉), make a first reaction of their sweet and funny "Last video" from 2014❤
Lot's of love from Sweden to you and all your subscribers 😚❤🇸🇪
This was indeed uplifting. Just plain awesome and gorgeous. Welcome back Abba, and much appreciation for sharing the good vibes. We appreciate y'alls, too!
I love ABBA. They show you ...it matters not. People in their 70s can still sing...with love and freedom.
So Sorry to hear your sad news, sending love and prayers to you all 🙏🙏 💜
You should watch the “Mama Mia” movies. They are all ABBA.
They released 2 new singles this one and "I still have faith in you" both songs are definitely worth a listen. And a whole new album is forthcoming.
Have you done ABBA Dancing Queen yet. It's a great one too! Probably one of their most popular ones.
Amber mentioned that she knows Dancing Queen well, but J didn't say if he knew it. 🤔
@@scapito I was thinking the same thing. If J doesn't know it, they need to do it.
Almost 40 years of silence and they still sounds good.
Sounds like most long term Husbands and Male Partners :)
Just a clarification. It's Anni-Frid or Frida.
So glad to have them back. Thank you ABBA!
Both couples were married, this sounds like a message to the former spouse. I loved Abba and so thankful for new music! You guys Rock!!
