Now the top-selling female artist in the world, Yayoi Kusama overcame impossible odds to bring her radical artistic vision to the world stage. For decades, her work pushed boundaries that often alienated her from both her peers and those in power in the art world. Kusama was an underdog with everything stacked against her: the trauma of growing up in Japan during World War II, life in a dysfunctional family that discouraged her creative ambitions, sexism and racism in the art establishment, mental illness in a culture where that was particularly shameful and even continuing to pursue and be devoted to her art full time on the cusp of her 90s. In spite of it all, Kusama has endured and has created a legacy of artwork that spans the disciplines of painting, sculpture, installation art, performance art, poetry and literary fiction. After working as an artist for over six decades, people around the globe are experiencing her installation Infinity Mirrored Rooms in record numbers, as Kusama continues to create new work every day.
    In theaters September 7th.

"She was not taken seriously by the establishment."
That's the problem with the art world. It has a establishment. It shouldn't have one.

I went to her show at the Broad back in November, honestly life changing. The infinity rooms are really something else.

I am moved, at this moment, to tears of inspiration, sympathy, and joy, knowing that Kusama Sama has vanquished her opponents, including her own mother, to have her voice heard, her vision seen, and her soul affirmed by this planet and the monkeys that dominate it.

I had the pleasure of seeing two of her installations in the past year: All the Eternal Love I Have For the Pumpkins and Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity. Both left me in a state of wonderment and have undoubtedly brought peace into my life. I'm so making the trip to see this in theaters!

Visually stunning, psychologically profound, beautifully paced, historically significant--whimsical polka dots as an expression of resilience within the circle of life--and of Kusama's Infinity!
Bravo especially to Karen Johnson - Goodmovies Entertainment..

She goes deep. It's all about the dots even Steve Jobs, another soul who subdued the world, mentioned the joining of dots. What, exactly have they found in dots? One seed....

But Hirohiko has an exhibition in the Louvre. THE FACKING LOUVRE. Were things like the Mona Lisa are kept. His art style just reaches me more than hers not too mention his Gucci partnership like her Louis Vationne DK if I spelt it right.

@@cometcourse381 the lady put a bunch of dots on canvas and called it art or in some walls and called it art. I could do that too. Are you kidding me. What's the special about this? People get so nuts about the most ridiculous things like it's some amazing ordeal. Art to me is nature not a bunch of dots.
