Now the top-selling female artist in the world, Yayoi Kusama overcame impossible odds to bring her radical artistic vision to the world stage. For decades, her work pushed boundaries that often alienated her from both her peers and those in power in the art world. Kusama was an underdog with everything stacked against her: the trauma of growing up in Japan during World War II, life in a dysfunctional family that discouraged her creative ambitions, sexism and racism in the art establishment, mental illness in a culture where that was particularly shameful and even continuing to pursue and be devoted to her art full time on the cusp of her 90s. In spite of it all, Kusama has endured and has created a legacy of artwork that spans the disciplines of painting, sculpture, installation art, performance art, poetry and literary fiction. After working as an artist for over six decades, people around the globe are experiencing her installation Infinity Mirrored Rooms in record numbers, as Kusama continues to create new work every day.
In theaters September 7th.

"She was not taken seriously by the establishment."
That's the problem with the art world. It has a establishment. It shouldn't have one.
Fuck modern art
I watched this documentary when it came out and now I finally had the chance to see a couple of her artworks recently. Truly a genius
Happy 90th Birthday Kusama, You Rock the World!
A rare and treasured soul, Yayoi Kusama has left an indelible mark on me entirely. I thank God for her and the enigmatic spirit that flows through her.
I went to her show at the Broad back in November, honestly life changing. The infinity rooms are really something else.
I am moved, at this moment, to tears of inspiration, sympathy, and joy, knowing that Kusama Sama has vanquished her opponents, including her own mother, to have her voice heard, her vision seen, and her soul affirmed by this planet and the monkeys that dominate it.
Just look at her art in Museum MACAN, Indonesia... It's feels like ur fantasy come alive...
I just saw the show at the SFMOMA (San Francisco, CA). Wow... no words.. it is an experience that is hard to explain. You have to be there.
This movie is streaming now in a lot of places, I've watched it 3 times already, I love her so much!
Without a doubt one of the greatest minds ever, a true artist
Love her so much
She turned her pain and isolation into something beautiful and joyful. Ultimate respect ✊
Sundance had this and Matangi/Maya/M.I.A. 😭😭😭 I wanna see both!
I love her ART
This looks incredible... I can't wait to see this and learn more about Yayoi Kusama's life. I haven't had the pleasure to see any of her works up close in personal but I hope to one day.
Her cooperation with Louis Vuitton was amazing! I have her Bag from Louis V. and I still love it ♥️♥️♥️

Love her flower sculptures, Hymn of Life-Tulips beautifully adorns a small little spot in Beverly Gardens, Santa Monica Blvd. Beverly Hills...So beautiful and happy!
I had the pleasure of seeing two of her installations in the past year: All the Eternal Love I Have For the Pumpkins and Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity. Both left me in a state of wonderment and have undoubtedly brought peace into my life. I'm so making the trip to see this in theaters!

Where can I watch it?
Greetings - High School Art Teacher here, considering purchasing this film on Amazon Prime - can anyone advise if suitable for student audience? Thanks in advance.
Please also show the film in Japan!💗
Don't touch, it's art
Visually stunning, psychologically profound, beautifully paced, historically significant--whimsical polka dots as an expression of resilience within the circle of life--and of Kusama's Infinity!
Bravo especially to Karen Johnson - Goodmovies Entertainment..
She goes deep. It's all about the dots even Steve Jobs, another soul who subdued the world, mentioned the joining of dots. What, exactly have they found in dots? One seed....
I see...so she invented polka dot.
What a strong soul.
‘There is not one artist in the world who has said same audience’
Hirohiko Araki and JoJo Fandom were u at( his name literally came up on my auto correct that’s how big he is).
Don’t get me wrong tho her art is fantastic.
But Hirohiko has an exhibition in the Louvre. THE FACKING LOUVRE. Were things like the Mona Lisa are kept. His art style just reaches me more than hers not too mention his Gucci partnership like her Louis Vationne DK if I spelt it right.
I need Louis Vuitton × Yayoi Kusama neverfull mm
This is, without a doubt, the most depressing artist documentary I have ever seen. Really shows what happens when you make you WHOLE life art and have nothing else outside it.
Ibu polkadot sedunia
**cof cof** yoko ono **cof cof**
wat
Of course, no one takes her seriously, she puts dots on things.
The emperor's new clothes.
trypophobia is quaking

Wow, you're so smart!!!!
"I transformed my trauma into art"
Says literally all artists 🤣
I just see a lot of dots 🤷♀️

一堆点 密集恐惧的感觉
#hamparte 😂
Hjhkujl😊
#Hamparte #Hampartepuro 😂
her art is like a spectacle and pretty nothing really there. Not knocking it sometimes nice looking things are nice.
Art is stupid
Then why are you watching this?
Truth Inspector No u.
very interested in hearing the reasoning for such a statement
you must be quite a boring individual. spending your life reading nonfiction texts within patternless walls. all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.
@@cometcourse381 the lady put a bunch of dots on canvas and called it art or in some walls and called it art. I could do that too. Are you kidding me. What's the special about this? People get so nuts about the most ridiculous things like it's some amazing ordeal. Art to me is nature not a bunch of dots.
Just interiorist without thecnique. Not art.
