" oh hey im sticky goose... " shop owner "why the fuck should i care" you act like you are the super important comic authority, but you think watchmen is a dollar box comic.
My comic shop is pricing those at $7 apiece or higher. Didn’t look up MileHigh right now with its sale. But the thing with Larry is , he works with you on offers you make for a stack of things. You can’t just throw out $1 an issue there. But he’s always good to work with you on things. I’ve been to his store for years. I’ve filmed in there with friends and everybody has a good time in his shop.
@@EcwfanMile High is the most overpriced, overrated comic shop in the country. He is a hoarder and uses it to for notoriety in the comic collecting world.
@@felix-ve8jk Chuck its true prices a lot over priced. But at times you have to search for bargains in issues. The sales and current one works very well. Right now doing mid grade Fine condition he has the following issues #9-#12 of Watchmen at these prices #12 is $6.30 , #11 , $6.37 , #10 $13.20 , #9 is $9.60 . Ok compared to MyComicshop ....#12 is $10.50 , #11 is $10.00 , #10 is $17.50 , #9 is 9.30. Now MileHigh total $35.47 before tax. Mycomicshop $47.30 before tax. Now what gives MileHigh the edge here is...free shipping over $25. Mycomicshop charges $6.00. Its about looking for sales and deals you can find of course as I posted above.
Great looking store. Personally, I don’t mind $5-$10 books as long as they are recently bagged and boarded and in great condition. To me, dollar books are generally in rough shape and only good as reader/filler. At the end of the day, if you really want something, the price is acceptable as long as it’s not astronomically overpriced. I mean, you bought a $150 game cartridge of a crappy game and thought it was worth it. Whereas, I wouldn’t pay $10 for it.
I haven’t finished this video yet. But Larry has been around for years and he’s a good guy. I have bought and traded with him over the years on comics , games and movies.
Definitely a great place to find and something for nearly any kind of collector. Agree that taking something to the front to be priced is not good. If you have inventory out for people to look at, it is only fair to price it. I have a friend that has a strictly back-issue shop. Sometimes the collections he buys back up and he might have up to 15 short boxes at the front not yet priced (though he works his way through them all day long). However, people are told this as they come in & if they feel like fishing through and find something, it is priced right then. Keep in mind, the other 100K comics in the shop are already priced. While some prices of this place in Virginia seemed high, I imagine it has to do with overheard. Just the same, you found some good deals & that is always part of the grand adventure.
I think you're a bit harsh on the non pricing of some books. Seems pretty obvious the books on the top are out for sale and the books underneath have not been sorted through yet but they don't have storage other than in the store itself.
A few years back i stopped here and none of that comics section was organized and priced. It looks like a tremendous amount of work has been done since, but im not paying those prices.
looking at the variety, consistency and overall magnitude of this place, I'd bet most of the products are from business to business transactions of bulk inventory, maybe some collections from auction but most of it from other stores going out of business
I appreciate that pricing style. The prices are what they are, so you can get a deal or you get a high price. But even when you took the Watchmen up, he didn't go to eBay for the highest prices. You can dig for a while and get some cool books at decent prices. There's an experience to it all.
Those lower rows of comics have yielded some good books. We definitely need to talk about some of these shops one day. My opinions are many and varied.
"People grading VHS tapes". Yes, I agree: it's stupid. But I'm fascinated by the UA-cam videos. (I have a hundred or so VHS movies, many sealed .that I wish I could give away).
Was literally there a month ago visiting inlaws down in Rocky gap . Yeah was amazed at the collection of stuff but sticker shock set in very soon after I died in .
comic shops are not there to provide treasures for $1.00. comic shop overhead is to be paid every month. sometimes every week. I things are not priced does not mean you get a steal for 1.00. It just means the owner could not get to price the books. You and Jerno said this same thing. It is not the job of the comic shop to have everything priced. They are there to provide a selection of things for you to buy. believe me no comic shop will miss your sale if all you are buying is a 20.00 or more book for 1.00. They should be there to provide a fair price not provide gold for you to have at a steal of a price.
He keeps talking about how many books he’s seeing that usually sell good, and he’s surprised they’re there, but I thought he sold comic books, why isn’t he snatching all of them up?
No, he priced those 6 bucks because he saw you. "oh it's that troll, Sticy Goose, let me overprice the comics!" If it was Mike from Lunch Money comics that store clerk would have priced those comics a dollar each and maybe even given Mike a few comics for free. This is why it pays to be polite and likable if you are a UA-camr.
Cool video showing a great looking store, but its a bit silly you think $1-2 should be the going rate for some 20-30 year old books. It just isnt like that with inflation at all.
People say that younger folks have no interest in comics because they are not paying astronomical prices for overpriced books to old-timers. Ironically the young folks apparently have no interest in buying a home as well since they suddenly stopped buying, definitely nothing to do with home prices being 2-3x higher than they were four years ago. Correlation and causation, but the old folks are will complain that "Country Kitchen daggum too spensive' since these kids dont want to pay my prices no more!" This is the slowest middle-finger from one generation to the next you could see, and the reason why 90% of shops have long gone under.
Lol, stores like that suck hard. Box after box of dollar bin run-fillers, all at a flat $5 each. Lol, not in a million years. Lotta indoor, permenant flea market type things do the same thing. 300 comics in a box and EVERY SINGLE ONE is $5. And pricing at the counter??? Lol. Absolutely not.
$40 for the first omega red? 😂 pricing at the counter is straight up disrespectful. I visited a shop that had prices on the books and the clerk still checked and re-priced some of the books at the counter. I just told him to keep it and didn’t buy anything.
You should try THE SECRET STASH (Kevin Smiths shop) in New jersey, I was there last week...he charging $800 for Captain America #117 raw (1st Falcon), price gouging becuase the new CA movie is coming out...I left!
Pricing at the counter is disappointing. Comic shop near me does it and the comics are covered in dust and everything is mid grade quality. He will actually change the price on you, too, so a price sticker is not a guarantee.
Pricing at the counter is the most annoying thing in this hobby. Nothing worse than finding a back issue youve been looking for and having it priced higher than you expected it would be.
You’ve got to be the worst comic book customer on UA-cam lol $6 for a clean copy of Watchmen is a good deal and you still complain, thinking they should sell it to you for a $1 because they gave you access to comics that haven’t been priced yet.

LCS's gotta help themselves at this point. You want $200k in inventory or $100k in your bank account?
Well, the 100k in my bank account isn't gonna help me if i spent 150k on said inventory and then you'd complain ive got nothing on the shelf to buy.
I live in Australia..but i may have to take a trip to this place. See tons of stuff from my childhood.
I hate that they don't price their stuff but I want to dig through the inventory, particularly the magazines.
