My algorithm has been on a roll lately, I’ve been getting videos from so many different channels with neat and interesting topics. Thanks for making this!
@@yeolemillinial8295 Thanks for the info! I saw that when I was doing research for this video, and it seems like a lot of people are happy with the results. It sounds like an effective, simple mod. I prefer to keep hardware original, where possible, so I'd rather pick up a Super Game Boy 2 instead. That way, I can always offer a comparison between both SGB models as well.
I feel like the SGB was specifically intended for titles like Pokemon. Those werent effected by any of the drawbacks but gave gamers access to their titles on a much bigger screen.
It came out way before pokemon though, and there were a good number of titles that were “SGB enhanced” with color and custom borders you could only see with the SGB. Pokemon red/blue weren’t though. But I do think you might be kinda on to something because the gameboy color felt more like what pokemon was originally intended for- so many diff color palettes (with that button combo when you boot a GBC) that really made the games look distinctive, plus pokemon yellow which was still 1st gen was enhanced tor the GBC.
I have a super Game boy 2 I don't know what they cost now but when I imported it about 3 years ago it was only 60 bucks. It works the exact same It has different borders and like you said that link port I don't use that because I don't have any friends and games that are compatible. I just always wanted one of those compared to the original which I used to have when it was new.
It is, but I also have access to a Game Boy Player and Game Boy Interface, so it's not a high priority for me at the moment in terms of gameplay capture for Game Boy titles. It would still be useful for capturing games with Super Game Boy enhancements, though!

And thank you for checking it out! I hope your algorithm streak keeps going!
you know there is a clock mod to fix the speed, only 15 bucks and requires very little soldering

@@RestoreRevise if you keep the removed components you can always reverse the mod at least
I did see the difference, the difference was that I could actually see the super gameboy footage lmao
And that makes it a very accurate portrayal of the original Game Boy experience! 😂
Holy shit, that gameboy pocket in silver color and wario land was my very very first gaming experience in 1996 when I got my gameboy.
They were my first console and game, and I couldn't have asked for a better start!

That's a good point - honestly, I can live with a small speed boost to those games! 😅

Very well done video! Obligatory comment about this channel being underrated that'll be outdated in a year or 2 when it gets popular :-)
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

very nice vid bro
Thanks for checking it out!
Very interesting, but also the SGB2 is like $50. You've got several times that in fpga consoles. Feels like a very quick fix.

why not just have an FPGA to emulate the gameboy hardware directly? misterFPGA or analogue pocket
@@czechvirusS those are good solutions and I'd definitely consider getting either one once I have the need to record pixel perfect Game Boy games!
