To clarify: The hammer is not heavy it has a spell placed on it by Thor's father Odin "whosoever is worthy to lift this hammer, shall wield the power of Thor" or something along those lines, so if someone was worthy to lift it not only would they be able to wield the hammer, but they would be granted Thor's power of lightning while holding it. It was done in the first movie to seal away Thor's power and force him to become a worthy future king of Asgard.
@TheOctobersReact Actually to add more, the Hammer isn't just "heavy." It can be infinitely heavy. Let's say iron man's suit can lift 1k pounds, but he wasn't worthy, the hammer will extert the opposite force of 1k since he isn't worthy. Let's say a regular human could lift 50 pounds and he was worthy, he could lift the hammer. It's a two part component of how the weight works, but regardless of the how much the holder can lift, you have to be worthy in the first place to even lift it.
Something about Hulk being in control or not, it seems that when Banner voluntarily turns into Hulk, Hulk has control over his anger and listens to people around him, as opposed to involuntarily turning which makes him an uncontrollable rage monster.
A little bit of sad backstory: Hulk is the embodiment of Bruce Banner's deep-seated resentment toward his father because of all the emotional and sometimes physical abuse he endured.
That’s why he looked in pain or he took a while to transform on the shield ship because he was trying to fight it making hulk even angrier since he’s trying to come out but Bruce was stopping him but in later fights it’s an easy and smooth tradition because he just lets hulk come out and take full control
I know I'm late to this discussion but let's not forget that it was Loki's scepter on the SHIELD Helicarrier that was enraging everyone within the vicinity of it. Remember - that was Loki's play - unleash the beast. The scepter is why they were all arguing with each other so much. Tony & Steve were clashing pretty hard but Hulk was obviously the most susceptible to rage.
welcome to one of the greatest movies of all time. the nexus point. this movie solidified the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a unique and special moment in film history. everything that comes after that were the fruits of this labour
Reason why Tony’s suit charged up when Thor hit him with lighting is because in Iron man 2 Tony’s suit got messed up after whiplash electrify whips. So tony upgraded his suit to be electricity proof.
This film really brought the Avengers into the mainstream and made them household names. For the most part only comic book readers really know much about The Avengers, everything else like animation the team was pushed to the side as no one thought people would care about them. Even when Marvel solid the rights to many of their characters in the 1990s (Why Sony owns Spider-Man and Fox owned X-Men) no one wanted the rights to Iron Man, Thor, Captain America etc. Hulk was the only member who's rights were grabbed up, Hulk also had a great TV series in the 1970s so he had a whole fanbase beyond the comics. Teams like The X-Men who were massive at the time from the New Mutant comics to the 1990s X-Men Animated Series that gave birth to an Animated Marvel Universe. A few Avengers members did get their own show like Iron Man and Hulk but there was no Avengers show. But any mention of other Avengers were just little cameos of certain characters like Captain America showing up in an X-Men flashback to WW2. Then we got the X-Men movies in the 2000s so it's safe to say that X-Men were much more well known than The Avengers. The release of Iron Man changed all of that building the groundwork for an Avengers film and now they're household names. The Avengers were formed on September 1963 billed as Earth's mightiest super-heroes, They were created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. All the members of the team were pre-existing superhero characters with these members being Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Antman, and the Wasp. Captain America was later found in the ice by the Avengers in Issue #4 and became a key member of the team. Loki was also the main reason why the Avengers came together as he was the main villain of the first Avengers story similar to how Loki brought the Avengers together in this film. For the MCU they went with a different roster with Captain America already a member of the team followed by Black Widow and Hawkeye. Both were seen as villains in the comics at this time but would later be revealed as double agents and would end up joining the Avengers. From my understanding there was plans for an Antman film in Phase 1 so maybe Antman and Wasp were meant to be in this films roster if the Antman film was ever made.
@@ob1wagonobi-zs2cb Gambit would be an ideal LOW COST superhero, because you could do a lot of the film in real locations without a lot of CGI. Disney has produced loads of bombs that cost $300 million+ to produce and need to cut cost on that to make some money again, BUT ... they are also very much "anti-male" and especially "anti-CHARMING-male" ... so Gambit seems like someone who isnt on their radar, unless they make him trans or gay first.
@@matthewdunham1689i mean is he tho🤷♂️?. Let's be real here, WW2 1943 , Steve Rogers without the steroid (never got chosen by Dr.Erskine) ,what would you think he's gonna be doing?
@@andokhun7707 he picked up Thor’s hammer. Nothing to do with the super soldier serum. His ideals and innate goodness were the reasons genius billionaire playboy philanthropists, monsters, and gods followed him. Well that and his tactical genius.
@@matthewdunham1689 let's keep it spoilers free here 😂 , and yeah that's true , but you still haven't yet answer my last question 😂, What would cap do in 1943 without the steroid ? he would've been dead by now :v
@@andokhun7707 Tony was wrong. Why? It was because of Steve's bravery, selflessness, and innate goodness that led Erksine to choose him in the first place, because the serum took the qualities a person had and magnified them: "Good becomes great. Bad becomes worse." He had the "special" qualities that Erksine was looking for, and we've seen more than one example of what happens when the wrong type of person gets a version of the serum. So what would Steve Be doing without the formula in 1943? Doing what he was before, being a good, self-sacrificing person. Similarly, Cap was wrong about Tony being unwilling to make the sacrifice play, because he was absolutely prepared to die to save NYC from getting nuked. Their first impressions about one-another were off-base.
there’s actually “captain britain” in the comics and also a soviet “red guardian”, may be more. cap was really a symbol to the world back then. everyone wanted to recreate his serum and make their own symbols
if no-one's mentioned yet, Marvel movies usually have two end credits scenes - the 'mid credits' after an initial credit roll, and an actual end credits after all the credits roll. Not every marvel movie has both, but since most do, it's usually good to double check. It's easy to forget as a new Marvel viewer since before Marvel, a lot of movies didn't include any credit scenes.
I am writing this to clarify something, and sorry if it was already answered... but for the scene on the carrier when everyone was arguing... Loki's staff is responsible for making Fury, Banner, Thor, Black Widow and Cap talk smack to each other. It was not solely on them. That is why they showed the staff glowing, to show it was messing with them. Similar to what you saw earlier when it took over Barton and Dr. Selvig's... head but in a different way. First time was to put Barton/Selvig in the service of Loki, but this time Loki/The Staff wanted chaos as a distraction, so it put the heroes against each other, verbally at least :)
The thing about watching Hawkeye get hurt in Avengers movies is, we know that Jeremy Renner has been through way more than anything like this in real life. What an amazing survival story.
When Chris Evans signed the contract to play Captain America he signed the deal for 14 movies. It was the most I had ever heard of in one deal. Robert Downey Jr does a huge amount of ad-lib in his roles, Shakespeare in the Park & Shawarma to name a couple from this movie.
This film is what started the whole universe of characters and a key reason why it worked so well. If this movie hadn’t been such a hit you wouldn’t have so many great movies to look forward to. The score never fails to bring back memories of the day I saw this in theaters. I was a freshman in highschool and it was a school merit trip. It’s one of those movies I wish I could forget just so I could watch it again for the first time. 😄
Cap' hasn't fully realized how strong he really is yet. You'll see. He's also the glue for the whole team. Things get so much better and awesomer from here on out. Peace.
@@TheOctobersReact FYI on Cap: I'm an old school superhero comic book fan. It's not a spoiler to tell you that comic book Steve Rogers (Cap) has been written as the best of all superhero team leaders. Not only does he inspire hope and loyalty against all odds, but he is the best field tactician in any combat situation. He has proven this in Marvel Comics many times over the decades. Even DC comics felt that Marvel's Captain America was the best of all superhero leaders. In one of the Marvel / DC comic cross overs, Batman (DC's best leader tactician) deferred to letting Captain America take leader position for all the Justice League & Avengers combined. We are talking at least hundreds of superheroes following Cap's lead, maybe even over a thousand. They were facing a Cosmic Godlike Entity that threatened both universes.
The final end credit scene (eating shawarma) was filmed 2 days AFTER the Hollywood premiere. All the actors gathered in a hastily built set and filmed it. Chirs Evans had a beard, so they first tried to hide it with a prosthesis but it looked bad, so he just put his hands over his jaw and mouth to hide it.
I saw this in theaters and the hype was REAL. The build up since Iron Man was worth the payoff! This movie was fantastic! Yes, Mark Ruffalo replaced Ed Norton as Bruce Banner/Hulk and will play the character from this point on. I love how Tony HAS to bump ACDC when he makes an entrance(Iron Man 2 even ended with one of my favorites "Highway to Hell"). The blonde that kept getting shown is Ashley Johnson(Ellie in The Last of Us game) her character was supposed to be another love interest for Steve, but that arc ended up getting cut. I laughed so hard at the "Puny God" scene, the noises Loki made were hilarious!
Cool reaction guy! You know, a lot of 1st time viewers don't know how big of a deal this movie was at the time. It was the first time lead characters from 4 different movies all came together for 1 massive blockbuster. And because of it this movie was the highest grossing comic book movie at the time, as well as the 3rd highest of all time of any movie.
The Hulk and banner are two separate personality so in the hulk movie he learned when he triggered the transformation he's in more control of the Hulk body and the reason he didn't have controls in the ship is because loki used the gamma radiation that the tesseract give of to manipulate the heroes mostly the Hulk . Thor's hammer isn't heavy you have to be worthy of its power so after Thor fell from the ship he tried to call it back to his hand but he couldn't because he lost his worthiness for a little bit because of Loki's mind manipulation.
26:41 Robert Downey Jr improvised the Galaga scene so they decided to leave it in and show the guy playing it. 28:11 the snacks Tony eats in the movie are RDJ’s actual snacks that he hid around the set. The production crew got tired of trying to find them so they just put it into the film. 35:49 did you guys not watch the first Thor movie yet? There’s an enchantment on the hammer that the person has to be worthy of the power of Thor to lift the hammer. 40:25 Thor was losing faith in himself after the beating he took and the hammer knew it and wouldn’t go to him.
Oh remember seeing this movie in theaters with my family, were up front and I remember it was loud with all those explosions lol. I can't believe it's been 11 years since it came out. It still holds up.
Capt. Shield is made of Vibranium that absorb energy. And Mjornir i made of Uru which is stronger but this is MCU so the rule is alter. Since they can't add adamantium from X-man that was bought by fox so...
Clint Barton aka Hawkeye is underestimated by most, what really makes both Natascha and him very special is they are both regular humans, no superpowers at all, just extremely trained at what they do. edit: a typo
@@jxy8938I have a feeling it involves G.O.T.G!! But mostly because Tony was also my favorite till they came on the scene and I fell in love with All of them. ❤❤❤😂😂 especially the little furry one!
Yes, they recast Bruce Banner. Supposedly, Marvel Studios wasn't happy with how much the original actor Edward Norton got himself involved with the creative aspects of the Hulk movie, taking it upon himself to rewrite scenes in the middle of production. Considering the big plans they already had going forward, they needed to keep a pretty tight grip on each production to make sure the story and characters remain consistent. So having someone like Norton changing things on them was too much of a problem. So they let go of Norton and recast the role with Mark Ruffalo.
well tbh we like them both but we do think the second one seemed more talkative i guess is how to put it or more involved but no hate on the other one bc we enjoyed that movie too! but who knows maybe it coulda been good with the second guy as well.
@TheOctobersReact Ed is a top Hollywood actor, with the top Hollywood ego to go with it. Same goes for Terrance Howard from the first Ironman movie. James Rhodes i.e. Warmachine.
ed norton has a rep for being a dick so not a surprise that disney broomed him, they have gotten rid of a lot of actors from marvel that had to much to say about what their character should and shouldnt do.
Fun fact, Mark Ruffalo was the director Louis Leterrier’s first choice for Bruce Banner in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, but Marvel wanted Edward Norton because he was more famous at the time.
for the actor mark ruffallo he is the ideal actor to play bruce banner he is comic accurate. introverted and shy but inflexible natasha is afraid of him because he is so intelligent that verbal or sentimental manipulation does not work with him.
He was in fact, the director Louis Leterrier’s first choice for Bruce Banner in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, but Marvel wanted Edward Norton because he was more famous at the time.
No doubt there's a lot of great cinematic moments going forward, but one of my *favorite* memories was seeing this in theaters with my dad when it came out. It was just something unheard of at the time and the fact that it worked out so well was mind blowing.
Has anyone told you what Captain America handed Nick Fury when he got in the aircraft carrier control room. It was the 10 bucks that Nick Fury bet him back in the gym.
Great job guys, we appreciate you getting the vids out as soon as possible! As someone who barely sleeps I'm not worried that it's so late haha great reaction!
Steve: "you aren't the one to make the sacrifice play, lay down on the wire and let the other guy crawl over you" In this movie alone Tony proved him wrong by pretty much risking his life with the nuke at the end. He made the play. And gained some respect from Steve too most likely.
At 15:50 when captain handed Nick Fury the 10$. It was because when nick fury came to captain in the gym at the beginning and was talking to him about how the world has changed. Captain said "I doubt at this point anything will surprise me". Nick fury responded with " 10 bucks says your wrong". Captain was surprised at how advanced the flying ship was. That why he gave him the money.
Seeing this enough makes one aware of the care put into this. Little things like when Nick Fury brings up Coulson's cards, the very next shot is Agent Hill and once we know she knows, watching it again you see more in her look. It's as if she knows that's BS but then let's him have his play. That kind of stuff.
thislays down the sart of some great storytelling. its really remarkable how these stories evolve through each movie, leading to some great convlusions and the mcu is still going strong.
I grew up enjoying the Spider-Man films, though I didn’t understand much of what was happening then at the time. I would also watch X-Men in parts, but I also didn’t comprehend it all. As I got older, I paid attention to those stories and enjoyed them more for it. I bring this up because I originally got into Iron Man and the Avengers for the comedy. Tony has a knack for landing the best jokes at the most inappropriate times. Next thing I knew, some time after this movie got introduced to the world, they created a TV show called Agents of SHIELD. That’s when I realized it was time to invest in the overall story of the MCU as well. Agents of SHIELD runs alongside phases 2 and 3. It’s seven seasons long, but there’s a lot of lore to unpack and the characters of the show make it all the more enjoyable. I would also recommend making time for the X-Men and Spider-Man films if you haven’t seen them. Most of them are really good. While we’re on the topic, you don’t wanna miss out on Into the Spider-Verse. The sequel Across the Spider-Verse just dropped on digital today. And finally, the only thing that could’ve made this movie better was including Rhodey/War Machine. Don’t worry though. We’re gonna see more of him soon.
@@TheOctobersReact I hope you check out Agents of SHIELD. It’s the first Marvel tv show that we had. A lot of people have been watching the Marvel Netflix shows over the last couple of years (particularly Daredevil and Jessica Jones), but it kinda bothers me that Agents of SHIELD doesn’t get that same praise and credit. If it weren’t for that show, even Daredevil probably wouldn’t have been made. I don’t recommend watching it all in one go though. Some episodes lead up to certain movies, and they might give away something you haven’t gotten to yet. I’ll give you a spoiler-free example: the first seven episodes of the first season take place between Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World.
When they are arguing in the lab, it is Loki's staff that is making them argue. We saw it could turn people with a touch, but it can also influence from a distance. Loki had turned Barton (arrow guy), who as a SHIELD agent, knew about the Avengers Initiative. Loki didn't think he could win if they worked together, so his plan was to make them fight each other. His mistake was to kill Coulson, who worked with Barton and Romanoff, and was friends with Tony and Thor. So that brought them together. Coulson *was* dead, in the sense that people's heart can stop, and Fury took advantage of that to bring the Avengers team together. But SHIELD had a great medical team on the helicarrier, and access to all of New York's hospitals. To find out what happened to Phil after this film, watch the first season of "Agents of Shield". They deal with the smaller problems than the Avengers-level world-ending threats. There are also two seasons of "Agent Carter", which follows Peggy Carter and Howard Stark after World War II but before SHIELD was organized under that name.
Loki is not for everybody but he definitely is one of favorites (loki, tony, and hulk) But I love a good intelligent villian. You dont always have to settle for the "good guys". Lol
@@TheOctobersReactfull warning, you won’t be able to stay mad at Loki for long in the next movies he’s in. That’s what makes Loki such a successful character. Not only that- Loki was being mind controlled in this movie by the villain you see at the end. The sceptre that he was wielding, was also controlling him. The villain you saw at the end of the post credit scene.. he tortured Loki into submission (hence why Loki looked as if he was dealing with heat exhaustion at the start) and the sceptre was used on him. He wasn’t really in control of his actions. He was very much like Hawkeye and Eric Selvig, just much worse because his life was also being threatened. It’s a shame most miss this as this movie heavily hints at it, and the marvel website confirms it on their website on his on screen section.
Ben Tennyson transforms into Four Arms and Loki tries to use mind control on Ben with his spear. Nothing happens. Loki tries again and is hit by an EMP blast and goes flying across the room.
Fun Fact: Ruffalo was actually the director Louis Leterrier’s first choice for Bruce Banner in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, but Marvel wanted Edward Norton because he was more famous at the time.
Lmao hard disagree, look at the mess they've made Hulk into... Norton is still the best on screen Hulk/Bruce... he looks like he's straight up out of the comics.
To be honest, it’s really hard to get a real opinion about this because I didn’t get enough time to get to know the Norton version but I can say I do like the new version. Maybe if I was a fan of the comments I would not like him as much, but I am new to it, so it works for us
@@David_Scar youre like the only person ever ive seen said that. Mark speaks Bruce Banner way better than Edward. And what they done to character is not his fault is it? Its not like he writes the scripts.
Cap's shield is made of vibranium, remember. It deflects/cancels out vibrations that affect it, hence why it can ricochet like crazy, and how it was able to channel the force of Thor's hammer strike to the sides in the forest fight. As to why Tony and Cap have beef.... remember Steve knew Tony's father Howard, and Steve was "the guy my dad never shut up about". Also, don't you worry about Phil Coulson. Tahiti is a magical place. Tony does end up paying for all of this damage, by creating a joint venture with the government: The Department of Damage Control, that he helps fund.
"You're not the one to make the sacrifice play." "Everything special about you came out of a test tube." Lines with... long-reaching ramifications. You've seen how they play out now, though, since you've finished Endgame. Still... those two lines and "I am burdened with glorious purpose." Phew. Such powerful lines which I will never be able to hear again without thinking of what they wound up meaning.
It's not them fighting each other, this is what Loki does it's part of his abilities. Manipulation, Chaos, Loki. That whole scene was Loki then Hawkeye rescue and take down the ship.
I'm super excited to take this journey with you guys and watch you get as invested as all of us did over 10 years of fantastic movies and characters! You're in for a great ride! Buckle up!
Thor's hammer has nothing to do with strength but can only be lifted by Thor or anyone the hammer deems worthy of the honor. It was Odin's hammer that he gifted to his son, Thor.
@@TheOctobersReactyessir. The OG Toby and the Andrew Garfield. Oh yea you’ll probably want some X-men in there too. Some people get confused with how it’s marvel but not the mcu. They were different production companies so Sony had the rights to certain marvel material that marvel studios couldn’t use. So for the longest time in the mcu they couldn’t call someone a mutant because they didn’t have rights to that so they used the word “enhanced”. Spider-Man was strictly sony but now they’re together and the mcu can use mutants and Spider-Man.
35:50 You don't necessarily have to be Thor in the MCU You just have to be worthy. But if we go by actual mythology then yes the hammer is unfathomably heavy and Thor is only one strong enough to lift it. MCU is magic mythology is strength

There are Cap variants in many countries: Russia has Red Guardian, Canada has Vindicator (ALSO alternately called Guardian, although the character is more Iron Man than Cap, the outfit is flag-themed), Britain has...Captain Britain.
There’s a funny interview where Tom H. (Loki) asks Chris H. (Thor) if he could be another superhero in the MCU, who would he be. Chris H. answered that he would be Captain America, but instead he would call himself Captain Australia; he would have a boomerang and crocodile pets that would attack villains. 😂 So, there you go-Chris H. is willing to be a Captain Australia. 😂
In the comics other countries do have what is considered to be their own Captain Americas or national hero. However, their abilities vary. Canada has Guardian leader of the Canadian version of the Avengers, Alpha Flight. The UK has Captain Britain. Neither of them have shown up in the MCU yet. Also, in the comics other countries have their national hero but they are rarely shown. There are two other countries version that have appeared but that would be spoilers. You will know them when you see them.
Guys! Even most of these characters have their movies they still on full development youll see them grow and change over time on the movies ahead. cant wait to you guys complete the infinity saga
I don't know about any other countries, but from my understanding, in the comics, there was also a Captain Britain. The hammer isn't about strength or even Thor, it's about if a person is worthy enough to wield it. Remember the enchantment Odin put on the hammer? Whomever shall be worthy to wield it shall be granted the same powers as Thor. As the caster of the magic, that would mean it would be whomever Odin's morals would consider to be worthy.

Capt telling Tony that he's not the sacrificing himself type of guy, but at the end he did exactly that😂. One of my favorite moments of the movie .
And cap proved he was more than a product of a super steroid.
@@matthewdunham1689i mean is he tho🤷♂️?. Let's be real here, WW2 1943 , Steve Rogers without the steroid (never got chosen by Dr.Erskine) ,what would you think he's gonna be doing?

There is also "Union Jack" who is closer to "Captain America" than "Captain Britain"🤓
if no-one's mentioned yet, Marvel movies usually have two end credits scenes - the 'mid credits' after an initial credit roll, and an actual end credits after all the credits roll. Not every marvel movie has both, but since most do, it's usually good to double check. It's easy to forget as a new Marvel viewer since before Marvel, a lot of movies didn't include any credit scenes.
Basically, just watch every Marvel movie to the very, very end.
First time was to put Barton/Selvig in the service of Loki, but this time Loki/The Staff wanted chaos as a distraction, so it put the heroes against each other, verbally at least :)
makes perfect sense wow thank you. we felt like he put them together and it just happened it makes sense it was calculated!
It was also alluded to when Tony was wiping his head and looked a bit confused or dazed.
"Id doubt anything else could surprise me."
"ten bucks says you're wrong."

This film is what started the whole universe of characters and a key reason why it worked so well. If this movie hadn’t been such a hit you wouldn’t have so many great movies to look forward to. The score never fails to bring back memories of the day I saw this in theaters. I was a freshman in highschool and it was a school merit trip. nice that’s pretty awesome
It’s funny because Josh Whedon directed it. He did the “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” show, timeless.

Marvel has had plenty of way bigger & better than either of them so oh well, best for both parties lol.

Steve: "you aren't the one to make the sacrifice play, lay down on the wire and let the other guy crawl over you"
In this movie alone Tony proved him wrong by pretty much risking his life with the nuke at the end.
That kind of stuff.
ohhhhh wow
thislays down the sart of some great storytelling. its really remarkable how these stories evolve through each movie, leading to some great convlusions and the mcu is still going strong.

We’re gonna see more of him soon.
love that you like a good sense of humor too! and we want to check the shield out for sure! thanks for sharing that with us and thanks for watching.

If I'm correct, there is a Captain Britain
Lol
lol maybe but he killed phil i’m mad at him!

Our power was out all day plus this movie kick my butt and had so many copyright issues so many but I did everything I could to get it out as fast as I can. Ha ha ha ❤️
@@TheOctobersReact oh I can’t imagine how hard the editing is for UA-cam. But we appreciate it all! Your MCU journey has been so fun!
thanks for watching we appreciate you so much this movie was so great. and we are trying to get these things out on monday so we didn’t go to bed until we could lol.
I mean captain brittain is a thing in the comics
RDJ kept hiding snacks around the set. The scene with Banner and Capt when he was eating was sort of improvised when he offered banner
lol so funny i like that fun fact !
This was the superhero movie I'd waited 40 years to see. Up until The Avengers the genre just wasn't up to showing superheroes in all their glory and the way it was put together really highlighted the super in a movie which had a truly Marvel feel. Unmatched in production and characterization.
Puny God. Another thing is no spoilers for me on Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4, and Phase 5 of the MCU.
I'm rewatching this 5 months later and watching you guys seeing Thanos for the first time :" Who is this chin action?". Oh lord, what you didn't know back then but know now. LOL.
