    Love the CS foam! It makes my curls so shiny & bouncy! My hair seems to love rice protein! I actually try to keep it away from my roots because it makes my scalp really itchy. Like crazy itchy. It definitely works very well for me all over my hair 💜

    I have used Joiwhip almost as long as you but I have kind of turned my back on mousse since I started using cream/gel combos with an occasional foam thrown in. I am going to dust of the AG and Joico and see what happens! Thanks for the video!

    Thanks for the video Michelle. I generally like foams over mousses. I have Cake Curl Whip which is ok. I like the AG Mousse Gel. For foams I like All About Curls Boosting Foam over a gel. Interested in trying Manes by Mel’s new foaming gel. Have you tried it yet? You have other items from the Verb curl line.

    • @VengefulAngeI
      @VengefulAngeI Рік тому +1

      I just tried the verb foam! I really liked it! Great definition & shine! I did layer it with a small amount of gel that I know exactly how it performs did that I could still evaluate the foam while getting a bit more hold. I brushed it thru like Mell did, but next time I'm not going to do that & see what that's like. OMG is it GREAT for dry refreshes! I only ever refresh dry, no water, & a lot of times foams work the best for that (for me). Some better than others. This is possibly the best one I've ever used as a curl by curl dry refresh. I hit it with the diffuser for just a few minutes to set the cast in & dry the water content from the foam and WOW, my curls looked better than they did on days 1 & 2!

      You’re welcome! I didn’t get along with the Cake curl whip. Wish I did though, it looked so good on others! I haven’t tried the all about curls yet. I definitely plan on trying Verb x Manes by Mel foaming gel! Thank you for watching!

    I had an issue with that Alterna mousse. It weighed me down like the cake mousse does but it also made my hair feel weird. I can't remember for sure, but I think it felt almost oily maybe? Whatever it was I know it was a distinctly weird feeling that my hair almost never gets. But Someone actually gave it to me for free, so no harm, no foul!

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  Рік тому +3

      I remember you saying that. It’s why I mentioned it in the video. With as light weight as it is in general I probably wouldn’t have realized it could be an issue for finer hair. Free is awesome!

    So glad you mentioned the Unite Elevate Mousse. I have often wondered since starting my curl journey about products that can be used even though it doesn't say "for curly hair." What in your opinion makes a curly hair product different from other products. I look at anti humidity creams and dismiss because it doesn't say for curly hair. Is that really a good practice? I used the Ouidad Vita Curl Mousse today. Love the light airiness of it. Tfs! Blessings!

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  Рік тому +2

      Pretty much the only difference between them is marketing. A lot of curly formulations would work great on straight hair that’s bleach damaged. Products for color treated hair would be great for curly hair that is dry because it is formulated to not strip the hair and to add moisture back in. An Aquage gel I used to use was a smoothing gel of some sort. I don’t remember the name but it was for blow outs. I used it when styling my hair curly because the smoothing effect worked great at frizz control without weighing my hair down! I’d say that if you see products that address issues that you have but aren’t labeled for curly hair, go for it! You just might find your perfect product! My daughter loves that Ouidad mousse! It’s definitely her favorite. Thank you for watching!

    I have always used mousse rather than gel because I like the “dry” look. I feel like gel makes my hair look like it’s wet all the time 😅
    Anyways, I used to love that Joico mousse in the late 90s/early 2000s . I remember loving the scent too, I should try it again
    My favourite affordable mousse back in the day was salon selectives and Marc Anthony

    Do you think you might be able to do a video on things you don't recommend? Or even do's & don'ts? Whether it's universal (or close to universal, since few things are hard no's across the board), or just what usually works best for this texture vs that texture, what to avoid for that texture but not this texture, etc? Or maybe a troubleshooting video (or series if you wanted to go all in lol)? Like tips to minimize frizz, tips for people who struggle with diffusing, etc. Or if you can't get your curls to last to day 2, try this instead of that, or just whatever common struggle & ways to trouble shoot it.🤷🏽‍♀️ Or a products you won't be repurchasing and why - not to bash a brand or product, but maybe if you explained why you didn't like it for you but what curl types may like it.
    I just like how informative & detailed you are & feel like you'd do a great job at something like that. Just a thought! I really love your combo videos too!

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  Рік тому +2

      I’ve actually been jotting down information for a lot of those video ideas. Many of them are a bit complicated because there really aren’t any hard and fast rules, like you said. But I love the “try this instead of that” for specific issues and hair types! That’s a great way to present the information! Thank you! I am working on a dos and don’ts video and it’s probably going to be different than what people might expect or have seen. I did do a video on products I will and won’t be repurchasing a while back but I’ll be updating it every now and then. I love these ideas! I’m often times unsure exactly what people struggle with or want to know because I’m pretty far removed from beginner level. Not trying to be arrogant here, I just have so much experience that it’s second nature to me and I trouble shoot issues with very little conscious thought at this point. I find that doing reviews or the combo videos kind of organically brings up some topics I can talk about. But dedicated videos to these issues would make it easier for people to find. I love when people ask specific questions that I can turn into a video or do things like this and make suggestions or requests for what they’d like to see. I’m just getting to the point I need to keep track of them better and write them down or I can’t find the comment again. Still adjusting to increasing views and engagement. Lol. Feel free to fill up my IG dm with a novel or even send an email to the address in my description box with more ideas/questions if you’d like! I love it! You have a different perspective than me and it helps a lot! And thank you! Glad you like the combo videos and for saying you like how detailed and informative I am!

    I've never really understood mousses and foams, but from what I'm hearing it's mainly for volume? Can you clarify when/why you'd emulsify it versus not? Isn't the whole point of mousses/foams the "air" in it, so if you emulsify it, aren't you removing the benefit of that?
    Of all the mousses, which would you say is best for fine, low density hair, not requiring a lot of hold, but rather volume/bounce and softness? I was thinking the Aquage for the roots, and AG or Moroconoil for all over?

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  Рік тому +3

      Mousses are great for volume and lightweight hold. I mostly don’t emulsify mousses or foam, I just slightly spread them out on my hands so it applies more evenly. I really only emulsify the Alterna one and use as a cream because of its consistency. Most don’t have that. The Aquage and the Moroccanoil used like you described would be great for fine low density hair! The AG mousse gel would work as well but I think you’ll get the results you’re looking with the Moroccanoil. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching!

    I might have bad news on the joico mousse😬 Apparently there was a formula change. A few months ago during an ulta sale as I was drooling over all the hair products, reading reviews, etc, and on that mousse everyone was giving it 1 or 2 stars & saying that they had used that mousse for years, plenty of them saying 10+ yrs, it's the only mousse they ever use, etc, & that it's awful now & all of them were saying to bring the old formula back. Unless they have 2 mousses maybe? I swear even if they do that this was the same one. I know they had changed the formulas of an their shampoos & conditioners a couple yrs ago which sucked because they had this one conditioner that my hair absolutely loved, & I didn't know they had changed formulas & the new one was total garbage. I ended up looking at the reviews after the fact & noticed that they had reset the reviews (just like they did with the mousse) & what used to have 100s of great reviews now had a handful of reviews that averaged 3 stars or something. Just giving you a heads up!

      Sometimes, I use eBay when products are discontinued or there’s a supply chain issue. Out of curiosity, I looked up this Joico mousse. I saw it on eBay being sold in the green bottle and in a light silvery bottle. Joico’s site shows the green bottle. I know they could have changed their formula without the bottle design but that was weird.
