  • Fun fact: Barbra Streisand famously sang the first chorus of "My Man" live on set in the 1968 film "Funny Girl". But for the rest of the song, she lip-synched - to the recording of the song from her 1965 album "My Name is Barbra"! Here are both recordings played simultaneously. Who knew?

The entire film was lipsynched, except for the start of this number. There's nothing surprising about that. What's surprising is that she used a three-year-old recording!

It sounds like a Capitol "Duophonic" release!

Yeah, when you play both versions at the same time, weird things like phase shift happen.

One can easily see and hear which part was recorded and which part was sung on the set. Nothing new here.

You missed the point completely. This is not about the fact that she lipsynched the last part of the song - we all know that. It's that she used the track from her 1965 "My Name is Barbra" album for this 1968 film. There are two different audio tracks playing at the same time in this clip, to prove that she re-used an old track for this film. Few people are aware of that.

@@123boink I always knew, somehow, that she used the "record lp" version of the song, as I used to refer to it. My only guess is that maybe she honestly felt that she wouldn't do it any better than she had already done for Columbia Records. The orchestration track is added in here and there and modified although I think the original is cleaner.
