I put together an amazing SI collection between '00-'06 and only just checked back on it in the last couple days. I'm STUNNED at what's happened! When I was collecting them back in the day I always thought they were cooler than cards. Funny that it took 20 years for the world to catch up. I would add one more category to your list. I had a shot at a rookie Jordan back in '95 for a decent deal, but I didn't dare take it cuz this was before grading and there were too many counterfeit Jordan's at the time. I couldn't risk it. In hindsight I wished I had but hindsight is 20/20. I have no idea if counterfeits are still a thing, probably not cuz everybody probably buys them graded, but it absolutely factored into my decision to get into collecting mags back in the day. Man is my collection gonna be worth a lot of money!
That Albert Pujols SI magazine is awesome! He is retiring this year and a no doubt first ballot hall of famer. That magazine will likely appreciate in value when he’s inducted. Awesome stuff man!
Subscription issues aren't worthless. It's the rarity of the cover and the grade that gives the magazine value. I just sold a Ken Griffey cover for $327 and have sold many mags for $50-200.

@jwbrown9387 I sold a Mantle FC subscription for $3k on Heritage. I don't agree with the wording I used in this original video about subscriptions and made sure to address that in the updated one.
That's the cool thing about magazines. The grading aspect is cool, but there is so much history/nostalgia involved that they are awesome regardless. I enjoy just flipping through old issues and reading some of the old stories. I actually have a video coming out very soon where I picked a random old issue and did exactly that.
Very cool presentation I have a bunch of sports illustrated subscription type really are they worthless as you mentioned with Albert polhiis how ever you spell his name thank you and you were very good thanks again
@@alleikalakutok7794 They are definitely less valuable than newsstands, but I would no longer agree with calling them worthless like I did in that video. I actually did an updated version of this video very recently. Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/g9_ebKR5zKI/v-deo.htmlsi=SEhkwa7Ln2mY8Jav
Because your Sports Illustrated has a mailing label doesn't make it worthless I don't care what this young man says. Ok I won't get what a newsstand issue may bring but I have gotten as much as $50.00-$80.00 for some of my issues. Doesn't sound worthless to me. I started getting SI since 1970 and I have most of them.
I made this video well over a year ago. If I were to remake it, I wouldn't classify subscription copies as worthless. But the fact remains that they carry significantly less value than newsstand copies. The number of issues that will sell for over $50 with a mailing label attached is very small. Mantle's first cover, Ali's first cover, Jordan's first cover and first pro cover. Very few others besides those, and it largely depends on the condition of the magazine.
I've been collecting SI since the 90s. I have pretty much every desirable issue including issue one with the cards. I don't get them graded because at this point I don't really care. I've been saying for years these are the next big collectable.
I've definitely put a lot of money in this hobby with the hopes that it will rise in value. Paid off when I bought my Jordan first cover raw for $350 and got a CGC 8.0 worth roughly $10k. Don't plan on selling though.
I would recommend ebay. If you have any that are newsstand copies and in nice condition, it may be worth grading them at CGC and then selling at Heritage Auctions.
How much would all of the Sports Illustrated magazines of nba and college previews and national championships, final fours, and NBA championships since 1977 - 2019 fetch? How about Street and Smiths from 1974 until 2015?
If they were newsstand copies...a lot. If they were subscription copies...probably a few hundred but it would be difficult to find a buyer since the purchase would be hard to ship/transport due to its size. As for Street and Smith, I haven't seen any value there as of yet. The outlier would be if you have a specific cover that is a beautiful shot of a big time athlete (MJ/Bird/Magic/Kobe) and it's in 9.8 condition.
Great Video!

Congrats...they are awesome! Let me know what you get!
@@sportsmags I grabbed a '99 Tim Duncan / Kobe CGC 9.0. 1st cover for Duncan and 2nd for Kobe - pretty good for $140!

Very informative! Most of my collection is subscription. I mostly have just been collecting what I like usually based on the cover photos!
