  • In this video, I will give you my thoughts and opinions on Greenworks and their outdoor tools after using 5 of them long term. All of them are from the 60V Ultrapower lineup. I have used their mower, string trimmer, and edger for 5 years and their leaf blower and chainsaw for 3 years. I will go over the batteries, comparing to gas powered tools, Greenworks as a company, and what you could expect if you decided to switch over from gas to lithium powered. #greenworks #outdoortools #batterypowered

    I have the 40v mower, trimmer, and chainsaw that I bought in 2014 and they still work very well. I am even still using the orginal batteries. Very good tool they are.

    Mine failed at two years and GW wouldn’t honor the warranty due to no receipt. And two hours of waiting on hold for support. Appreciate you had good experience… lucky!

    I'm only on year three with my 60V platform of twin blade 25" self propelled mower, blower, string trimmer, and edge trimmer. The mower came with two batteries and I purchased the other tools as "tool only". In the first year I had one battery fail which Greenworks replaced. Then my charger stopped working. They replaced that too. All at no charge under their 4 year warranty. Not having to maintaining 4 gas engines is a blessing for me and the planet.
    One problem I have with the mower:
    This mower has two blades. The two blade don't touch or overlap leaving a bunch of uncut grass in between the blades. I have to cut the lawn twice to get an even cut. Am I doing something wrong?

    Good to see this review as I'm looking at expanding my current toolset. I was given a 60v Greenworks Snowblower that didn't function. Replaced the motherboard and it's good to go. Not very strong but good for light snow removal. I just can't wrap my head around the expense of the new units. And it is hard to give up perfectly functioning gas units.

      Yeah, the cost is pretty high. If I had more confidence in the batteries I would sing their praises far and wide, though. For an average homeowner like me, you can't beat the convenience. Plus, I charge my batteries off of my solar. I know that is only pennies per charge but it makes me feel better!

      @@LDSreliance Less cost over time makes up for going with an electric lawn setup's cost and gives you a good reason to use your solar panel system in your shed.

      @@cameraman1234567890 I think if you get lucky and your battery lasts 5+ years like it should then it is definitely cheaper to go battery powered than gas powered in the long run. But if I have to buy another $200 Grade B 5Ah battery somewhere along the line that flips the script pretty fast.

    Most lawn battery issues I have seen have been from being over discharged repeatedly or not charged right away after shutting down.
    If the tool shuts off from being low on charge, immediately put it back on the charger and don't let it sit around on low charge. Also I have found if the tool shuts down from being low on charge, don't try to run the tool after it shuts off the first time, go grab a new battery and charge the dead one.
    If one cell gets discharged below an acceptable level, the BMS shuts off the whole battery and the charger can't fix it. If it's under warranty, the company should replace it... However if not under warranty you'd have to disassemble the entire battery and charge it manually with a power supply to override the BMS.
    I've done this on many dead Ryobi 40v batteries and they come back to life 👍

      @LDSreliance  8 місяців тому

      Nice. Good advice. I've actually only ran my battery dead twice in the 5 years I've had this stuff and I did immediately put them on the charger. So I think the battery that is completely dead just has a bad cell in it but I haven't had the time to disassemble it and do an autopsy.

    These seem like great tools for small yards, and the fact they are quieter and don't stink of gasoline is a big plus. Would be cool if the company offered ultra high quality batteries as an optional upgrade for people willing to spend a bit more.

      Agreed. I would pay $100-125 for a 5Ah battery that had a 5 year warranty and I knew 100% for sure was built with Grade A cells.

    Here's my experience with Greenworks.... I purchased the 60V 21' Cordless Battery Self-Propelled Lawn Mower 10 months ago, May 2023 The self-propelled system has stopped working...... it is now a push mower. I have to mower 5k sq ft of lawn surface. I loved it until it shopped working, I called Greenworks support on the phone to inquiry how it can be repaired. I held for 3 hours before I gave up. I tried "CHAT WITH AN EXPERT", but gave up after an 1/2 hour, it told me to...... hold for an agent. Does anyone know where I can get it repaired.

      I'm sorry to hear that. My tools are working great but the batteries are dropping like flies. I'm very unhappy with the battery life as far as how many cycles they last. I hope you find a contact person to help you. All of the people I worked with on our partnership several years ago are no longer with the company.

    I am not as pleased as you are with Greenworks. I ordered a 60 V weed trimmer and it hasn't come yet. It has only been 11 days since I ordered it, but I can't seem to get in contact with them. I did talk to someone at head office, they had no idea when my tool will get here. Thinking on cancelling my order and buying from another company.

    • @LDSreliance

      I have had no experience with their customer service department. When I received my tools, they were shipped directly from Lowes. They arrived within days. I don't know if Lowes still carries them or not. It sounds like the company as a whole is on the way down the toilet. That is too bad because I do think their tools are good. Their batteries, on the other hand, are typical Grade B garbage. I am down to only two fully functioning batteries out of the original 5.

      @@LDSreliance I phoned them again today ( May 27 ). I asked them to cancel my order as it is taking too long to get here and absolutely no idea when it will ever be sent. Well, a few hours later and it is out for delivery. Surprise, surprise. I gather the squeaking wheel gets the grease.

      Wow. Well that could be a coincidence because I doubt they could possibly have gotten one to you the same business day, especially on an American national holiday. But that definitely does tend to motivate companies. I reached out to my contacts there to see what is going on. I am hearing too many bad things about their customer service.

    We have been trying several times to contact the company about my issue without success. The chat keeps asking for model numbers while it keeps saying: the model number is not recognized.
    We were on the phone for over 1 hour and 30 minutes and nobody answered. How come the description and the box clearly indicate 1-4Ah and 1-2Ah, but we only received 2 - 2Ah batteries in the package? This is unacceptable. The customer service is very bad.
    We have been using EGO for a long time. Recently, we decided to give Greenworks products a try, but it has been a disappointment. It's unbelievable.

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  Місяць тому

      I'm sorry. I am pretty appalled at the quality of their batteries, too. But EGO and the other lawn tool companies use the same cheap battery cells so it is what it is. Only 2 of my original 5 batteries are still operable and I have not used them heavily.

    DO NOT BUY GREENWORKS PRODUCTS. I purchased a $4500 zero turn 60v lawnmower and upon first use the right control arm broke off at the base rendering the mower immovable and useless. Greenworks assured me of a replacement but then charged their mind and now day I have to pay to have the mower shipped to and from a repair shop of their choice. Costing me another grand. I'm not sure how I can even move it??? They don't stand by their products and their customer service is awful. They say they will take care of it and that they will call you right back then you get an email during the night giving you bad news. Don't trust manager Jessica or anyone for that matter. Ridiculous business practices.

    Are you paid by Greenworks? They are so BAD to deal with their major service center (No. Tool) will no longer service their products. Their SNOWBLOWERS will not work on snow more than 4 or 5 " of snow and if it has any weight it's worthless. They have a F rating from the BBB.

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  Місяць тому

      No, I was never paid a dime by them. I did receive some free tools in exchange for the review. So I never had to deal with their customer service. But you are not the only one recently that has complained about their service. I would also add that their batteries do not seem to last very long, in my experience.
