- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Comparison test of 40v and 80v battery powered Greenworks GMax single stage snow blowers. Difference between 40v 2Ah and 80v 2Ah. Lets put these two tools to the test to see which one I like the most and can they replace my big gasoline snow blower and hand shovel? These have virtually no maintenance; no oil, no gas, no spark plugs or carbs to clog up. The snow blower is 20in wide and 10in deep cutting capability. This video is not sponsored.

Hi. First time viewer. I'm impressed with the dual camera view and your coverage of both the assembly and the comparison of the 2. You've helped me with my decision. Thanks!
@@ThePixilator welcome! Great to hear. Thank you
Very useful comparison. Thanks for that!
@@fernando_passarella glad you liked it!
I have a 60 volt Greenworks lawnmower and I wanted to buy a 2 stage snowblower, but they went to 80 volts. Now I have to rethink snowblowers, I may go with the EGO snowblower, it only needs 56 volts.
Check out my new video on the greenworks 2-stage blower: ua-cam.com/video/6Ol6ix7kCNE/v-deo.html
I’d rather at 65 not push anything ! Love my monster gas powered Ariens ?
@LCculater maybe autonomous would be better? Yarbo Modular Yard Machine - Autonomous Robot: ua-cam.com/play/PL8d9FovK2dNSfzKjq7U5ws9fY2xkhlZ8-.html
I'm into the 80v platform, even got the 2 stage snow blower, it's a beast! The chainsaw is great too, I don't see a need for a gas one and I have a wood stove.
@@redsquirrelftw they've come a long way over the years
Nate totally agree on 80v vs 40v as you proved with the snow blowers. My experience is with battery operated lawnmowers. The 80v comes close to gas powered in mulching and cut. The 40v models bog down in high grass and don't proved a clean mulching cut as do the 80v models. I have the 80v line of Lowes Kobalt models, including the mower, leaf blower and edger which are made in the Green works factories.
Wouldn't go back to gas after using these 80v products.
Stay warm Lolo
Anthony
Thanks Anthony! I mow about 3 acres of grass so i havent been convinced the battery ones will handle that yet. Maybe the commercial ones will but they are really pricey. I'm keeping an eye on it, I would love all my "on property" tools and vehicles to be electric.
I wish they made an 80 volt two stage like so many other companies make. We've had out 80 thrower for over 5 years and still seems to work OK. Heavy wet snow and really deep snow is the downfall, taking half a cut helps it work better.
They do. www.greenworkstools.com/products/80v-24-snow-blower-with-2-5-0-ah-batteries-dual-port-rapid-charger?variant=42846901534880¤cy=USD&campaign_type=evergreen&funnel_stage=mid&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAkp6tBhB5EiwANTCx1P73-GhsDJVGRLp6wcoNJLG9QeFw5tH-Jr8cnVa0lBuqABYYx-9EmhoC4FIQAvD_BwE
@@NaterTater I'll have to keep my eye out for that, the batteries fit in our mower and the old batteries are starting to get a little tired.
@@minigpracing3068 they sell them at Costco. I bought mine in Jan 2023, ordered it online it was on sale (2k$ CAD with the 3 4Ah battery), delivered in a giant metal and wood box, really nice packaging. I have no regret, it is an absolute monster, I really love it. It is much more manoeuvrable then a gas powered 2 stage, because it weight much less, I can pull on it to reverse without the need to go in reverse gear, can rotate it really easily. The only issue is because of reduced weight, it have less traction when going through very hard pack snow, but I almost never have to, and I have a trick, I put it max speed, I just back up a little and let it ram in the pack snow :D
Works ok with with a minimal dry snow cover!
I've had the 40v on clear 10" of wet snow but you have to go slower. 80v hasnt seen that yet but will soon.
Did you not just see this go through told frozen snow? Lol
GREAT TEST!! 1st time to the channel and had to subscribe.
My driveway is 150 feet long and 24 feet wide. Is there enough battery to clear a driveway the size of mine with 4-6'' of snow?
If you get a big snow fall of 8''-12'' can the machine clear it if you take a 1/2 cut instead of the full width of the blower?
Thanks
You might make it with a 5ah battery but I would plan two 4ah for that size drive way. You can clear partial machine width if needed.
@@NaterTater Thank you for the reply. I see it comes with a 2ah battery so probably need at least 2 batteries.
@@frankbrowning328 they do sell it bundled with other batteries. I think two 2Ah, one 4Ah or 5Ah.
@@NaterTater Thanks, yes I did just see that on Amazon. Thanks again for the help
What happened with the big heated cab Toolcat machine? I’d use that, lol
😆 I still have the Bobcat Toolcat. Just nice to clear a few feet in front of the buildings otherwise I might accidently plow the garage doors right off the house. ua-cam.com/video/1b2Ej0AG_FE/v-deo.html
Does this work with a 4 Ah battery? I have a 4 Ah and a 2 Ah battery from my other Greenworks tools, I'm wondering if the 4 Ah will fit since its a larger battery.
@@Prashanth12344 it does
Thank you
. I got the 80 v..
Awesome!
Which electric lawnmower do you recommend for an average size front yard and back yard?
Idk what an ave size yard is or if you want a push or riding mower but I would go with an 80v system. This page has several options: amzn.to/3U5899g
Def go with 80V. Gas-like power and faster charging in case your battery runs low.
@@NickWindham Thanks man. I knew it wasnt a trick question. Thanks again for simple to the point answer.
You need some of those slip on chains for your boots. Happy with the traction
good tip, I think I have some squirreled away somewhere.
When they make self-propelled Battery powered Snow blowers that can cut through 3ft+, Then I may look into one. Otherwise I'll stick with my 35 y o Craftsman 8.5 hp that's never let me down. One snow storm we had, I use mine for 10 hours straight without a hick up only to stop too refill the tank and it was cutting through 5 ft drifts.

I didn’t realize an 80v 2.0ah would have longer run time as the same AH batteries of different Voltage. Interesting.
It won't necessarily. It has more energy (Wh) but they also tend to use more power so run time will vary based on that not just the voltage.
A 2ah 80v battery has double the power of a 2ah 40v battery. Volts * Amps = Power (watts), so if you simply double the voltage, you have double the available power. You need a 4ah 40v battery to have the same capacity. Granted it all depends on what the motor does, but allows it to draw a smaller amperage from the higher voltage to get the same power...or use the same amperage and have "double" the power. Depending on what it does, will affect the actual runtime.
Ah is a measure of capacity, not amps/current as you are treating it. Ah x volts is Wh which is energy. So 40v 2Ah and 80v 2Ah has the same capacity but the 80v one has twice the energy.
@ekbuz so If u have a 20v 4.0mah * 2 it's the AS A 80V 2.0 MAH.?
that needs a drive system for the wheels as well
Man that some terrible snow you are going through I would not advise you to use your blowers on that, it could wreck the blades.
someone has to test them!
Wait for light fluffy snow.@@NaterTater
Hi what electric shovel do you think for a townhouse with two cars in the parking lot, not much compared to a house? Thanks im tended to think the 80ah. Great video! Oh and hindsight i guess you can do steps?
@davidpoo66 yes an 80v shovel would do well. Works for steps too. Check out this older video on 40v units ua-cam.com/video/U2orqDJnKrA/v-deo.html
@NaterTater Thank you much!
Очень познавательно, благодарю товарищ.

I’m done buying anything from Green Works. They discontinue a product like the 20 inch snow thrower and they stop making parts for it now you’re pushing a 22 inch snow thrower. I have a 20 inch snow thrower and I cannot find an auger belt 1anywhere from any seller, including Greenworks now I buy all my battery powered tools from Ryobi
I'm not aware of that issue. For the 80V 20" blower the belt appears to be R0204440-00 and I can buy it at my local Menards for $8 www.menards.com/main/outdoors/outdoor-power-equipment/outdoor-power-equipment-parts/snow-blower-parts/greenworks-trade-20-snow-blower-replacement-belt/r0201918-00/p-9639598970141433-c-1525269720181.htm
@@NaterTaterThanks again Nate. This is continuing reply. I was asked am I putting the belt on correctly. My reply yes , I have done it before and saw instruction video.Instead of junking my 20” snow thrower, it was cheaper to order the whole impeller assembly which contains the pulleys and the belt.Should be here next week from Green Works. Hope there is no problems. as I said in my previous post that belt number you gave does not fit it is for a fitness machine, a treadmill , according to Goggle.
Damn too much talking get to the review please
