I was able to get, both of the Sparks, Nena , Strawberry Alarm Clock and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.
I was disappointed about not getting, Van Halen, Eric Carr, The Donnas, Duran Duran and Stevie Nicks, though.

Sammy has longevity and still kicking ass at 75. His book Red was really good. Just listened to the audiobook. Dave on the other hand......let's just say he had a good run in 70s and early 80s. Dave's voice did not last, but his arrogance (and I'm sure the money) made him think he was a god. Sammy is a much more genuine person, but I do respect both eras of Van Halen. As for RSD I got the Madonna American Life remixes and Raphael Saadiq The Way I See It, which I was SO excited to get. What a feel good and amazing album. Very Motown 60's sounding and I've always loved him from his days with Tony! Toni! Tony! and also his solo endeavors.
I like both eras of Van Halen. I do agree that Sammy is definitely more humble. He can also remember the words to the songs. Lol. Thank you and take care.

Over the last couple of years Sammy Hager has grown on me. You can't deny the talent. My one disappointment is I had the Porcupine Tree EP in my hand and put it back not realizing it was unreleased tracks and only 800 made worldwide.
Sammy Hagar is a talent. People, myself included, have a hard time with change. I just try to look at it as a different group and appreciate it all. Same with Pink Floyd post Roger Waters and Syd Barrett. It’s different but it’s all good
I have put back things that I later regretted as well. We have all been there.

Yes... both Garbage and Porupine Tree got away. Disappointed for sure. Maybe one day I will find those EPs for a realistic price.

@@MelindaMurphy One thing I wish Dave had done was fix his vocals in the studio for his live album like Sam always did. He has a voice that I love (his lyrics not so much) but his official live stuff was all fixed post concert. In a way I respect Dave for giving us something real, although I really wish he fixed his vocals up..... still love the album though.

Something I came across about Eddie Money, I was on Amazon music a few nights ago and came across Eddie Money's Covers EP Vol. 1 & 2. Did some comparison with the record store release and the songs and track order are identical to the RSD release but all on one album.

I love Van Hagar era! That is a great set and I was lucky to get it on RSD! Super quiet and for a live album its pretty amazing! My favorite song is Dreams! That song really speaks to me and that time of my life! Chet Baker would have been great but my store wasn't allocated much! Still lucky enough to get that crazy freaky Todd Rundgren album! Its is soooo crazy! Really speaks to that era!😀 Great video Melinda!
I was never into Rock music when I was a kid. Even though I sure saw a lot of Rock bands over the years. I saw Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones, Aerosmith and to many more to list. This is what us kids in the 1970’s did.
Dreams was my favorite song from 5150 when it first came out. That song helped win me over when Sammy joined the band. Thank you and take care.

I camped out for RSD...a first as my main goal was the 50th anniversary edition of Elton Johns Don't Shoot me album...beautifully done and the colored vinyl was really pretty. To me it gave me the feeling of why people back in the day went and grabbed his albums..really fun piece.
I too got the Duran Duran...my local store only had 2 copies so I was stressing as I was around 10th in line and thought for sure it would have been scooped up. i did some looking on discogs and other places to compare the various track listings and this combo is unique to this release. A very pretty record and a stout inner sleeve. The only issue i had was mine was very dusty but cleaned up fine and played as expected.
When i saw the Van Halen I did think of you Melinda and i am glad that you scored a copy of it. Not cheap as you said but from seeing it the packaging was done with a lot of thought and beautifully executed.
The Elton John album was extremely popular on RSD. What a great release. I might still get that one. The Duran Duran album is so good and I am extremely grateful to have that one and of course the VH album. Thank you for thinking of me. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Melinda - great video. There was no record store day participating shop here in Alicante Spain but sometimes good things come to those who wait long enough. Juno Records in the UK reduced the price of the Van Halen, post record store day, making it viable for me to to buy a copy and have it sent out to me. It arrives tomorrow, so really looking forward to getting it. Love Dave and love Sammy just as much. They say this is the start of the Sammy releases on vinyl. If so, a dream come true.

Sorry to hear that you missed out on the Nuggets 50th box set. I drove an hour to get to a store that opened at 7, then waited 2.5 hours in line! The good news? I got a copy! That set is now being flipped on the 'net for almost 2x the original retail. Surfin' The Great Lakes was also on my must have list and I missed out on getting this location's only copy by about a half hour! Luckily, I found one at a store online that had it slightly marked up. It came yesterday and was worth it alone for the aqua blue vinyl! O got the Van Halen also, haven't had the opportunity to listen to it yet. I try to listen to at least (1) RSD lp once a day which will take me around 30 days since I purchased 30 titles this past RSD.

I love the Chet release as well.Wonderful performance,packaging and pressing. Reminds me a lot of the time I heard Chet live three night in a row in the late 70's I was able to shake his hand and say thanks for the music,he was quiet and humble. The other album I picked up was The Muddy Waters Woodstock Album,recorded in the studio with Paul Butterfield and some members of The Band. Awesome Blues album. Another non RSD release was Traffic On The Road - great live album by Steve Winwood and the rest. Great video. I have a few videos if you ever feel like adding more to your plate LOL

Hey there MM! Glad you were able to get most of what you wanted. I like the Sammy era VH but I definitely don’t LOVE it like the DLR era. It’s not even close. But I would still like the live album, just not enough for that price. I do have the cd. My only actual RSD releases I got was the Donnas and the Keith Richards double album set. I agree that the magic was with Dave. It took a while but I learned to love the Sammy era and this live performance is sentimental for me. The CD is very good and I wore mine out back in the day. Lol. Thank you and take care.
Great Melinda that you enjoyed these albums! I focused on jazz titles more so I did get the Chet’s albums and liked both pretty much, I agree about the sound, Bernie did a great job and for a fan of Chet is a must have. I didn’t get the Duran Duran, the ‘In’ Groove was packed with people, so I grabbed 13 albums as I could find and left. I had to get one album, the London Grammar, for my wife, she enjoys their music, and it really sounded good. I skipped the Van Halen’s since I spent close to $600 and just bought a new turntable. I do like their early work w/ Sammy Hagar, it reminds me of my college years with fun, energy, and cool songs. It was fun standing in line for couple of hours and yakking about our passion for sound and music. It was my 2nd RSD ever and for sure I’m a convert. By the way, my mother back in the day, 70-80’s worked at Heathrow airport, she met Simon Le Bon and got me his autograph, that was during their early peak, enjoyable music. Great video, thank you!

Got my RSD Duran Duran Carnival today 👍😎 the mix is So much fuller and thicker on this, than any other of the umpteen copies of Rio I’ve had on vinyl in my life. My OG 45 single of Rio was the best sounding, before I heard this. Finally! I love this! Cost Me 50 bucks but it’s worth it. On my system it’s Almost not bright enough! Treble maxed out to hear the cymbals, but I max treble on my amp anyway. To finally hear John Taylor’s bass Deep and Thumpin like it Should, makes it worth the price of admission. And Hungry Like The Wolf Bangs! Far better than I’ve ever heard it on vinyl. If they would reissue the Rio album like this I’d be happy. 😊

So you didn't want the Chet mono? It's fantastic! First time in mono since '59. As for RSD I only needed 2 releases. The Chet and the Orb featuring Lee Scratch Perry. Everything else was way to expensive for what it was, and I found a dozen used items I really wanted instead. Don't get to the big city to go shopping everyday so all in all a fun time.

In a perfect world, I would have picked up the Chet Baker mono. But since there were so many other records that I wanted and I already had the stereo version, I decided to skip it. I have heard it's amazing by several people. Thank you and take care.
That Van Halen looks really cool, I like the quad gatefold. I didn't see that one but I did manage to pick up the ones I wanted. My sister and I went to 4 different stores and she also got the 3 she wanted. I got Captain Beefheart Live at Your Fathers Place, Gong Live in Lyon, Miles Davis Turnaround, T. Rex Rockin' and Rollin', Ted Nugent Nuge Vault Vol 1 and Eric Carr Rockology. I've listened to the Miles about a dozen times...its fantastic. Also listened to Ted and Eric and they are very good too. The packaging on the Eric Carr record like the solo albums was a nice touch. Love your hoodie! Great video and take care!

I picked up Chet Baker Chet Mono Edition, Stevie Nicks Bella Donna Live 1981, Dolly Parton Monument Singles Collection 1964 - 1968 and my last pick up was a past RSD release and it was the It Could Happen To You Chet Baker Sings Mono Release from 2019.

Well Duran Duran wasn’t at my local store so missed out on it. I did get Van Halen, Stevie Nicks, Belinda Carlisle, M, Tori Amos Elvis Presley, and your recommendation The Temptations. Even though I didn’t get Duran Duran I have floor seats to see them in September 🎉

HI M. i helped out at SC on rsd and let the kids in 5 at a time. There were about 60 people there by 9am. The first girl was waiting since 2am. They only got 20 Taylors and the first 20 got them.
i ended up getting the brain salad surgery pic disc even though i don’t really like pic discs but this one looked cool.❤

He was at a hotel in NYC and looked out the window and seen a sign flashing Mutual of New York .... thus came the the title of the song. Continued success with your videos.

The two I got were lightning quick via the internet. I bought a 3rd older RSD title but had sound fading in an out. Perhaps the tape or source was damaged. Dave Van Ronk live album. And shortly after RSD, I bought 18 rock and Jazz albums at Goodwill. It's one of my best score ever with CTI labels, Tom Petty 2016 Re-issue, Bob Dylan and more.

On the VH, were all 4 of yours translucent? My 4th one was not and just red, it’s very odd. Also bummer that it’s “live” but isn’t necessarily, since they re-recorded the guitar, bass and vocals but still sounds great. Plus it’s a live set from Fresno which is great, Go Dogs!
Mine are all translucent but some are darker colors than others. I don't mind that they perfected their live album. It's still enjoyable to me. 😃 Thank you and take care.
Just to let you know I’m going to see Madonna here in Detroit in August. Two tickets cost a thousand dollars. But I’m getting 50% off because I know someone who works for a company that gets a discount. But, this will be my 10th time seeing her live. And, no matter what people say about her. Nobody gives a better concern than her. Plus, I bought the 6LP rainbow colored set from Rhino Records. It’s a pre order. It comes out in June. I think $199.00 dollars is a good price for 6LP’s.

I landed up starting with 13 RSD titles, got em this past Sunday, had to work on RSD itself plus I like to go on a later date (not TOO much later mind you)...so what i got were (drum roll please): Mary Lee Kortes, Prefab Sprout Steve McQueen acoustic, Ramones, Fraternity (Bon Scott's pre-AC/DC prog psych Australian band from 1970-1972), Elton John, MEB (Miles Davis Electric Band tribute), Nena picdisc EP, Dolly Parton, Our Lady Peace, Sisters of Mercy EP, Rich Kids, Blur & The Orb/Lee Scratch Perry...spend around $400, like last year...looking for copies of Taylor Swift, want Nuggets, getting Strawberry Alarm Clock & TV Greatest Hits Vol 2 from a friend who may give em up...do want the 3 solo Talking Heads releases (David Byrne/Tom Tom Club/Jerry Harrison), Bjork remixes, Suede demos, Dorsey Burnette looks interesting, want that Duran Duran oh yes, but not Van Halen, not a fan...

My oldest and dearest friend, Gonzo, now a retired physician I first met in 1971 at Ohio State University, is a music savant that, after his first vinyl sell-off of 3000, still has some 2000 albums. He’s in the process of digitizing his collection before putting it up for auction (piecemeal rather than one big sale).
When that time comes, and if you’re interested, I’ll give you his email and maybe you can get an early peek. He’s got very rare stuff that few others have. And all his records, even the ones from the 60s, are in excellent condition.❤🎶

Hard to believe that Van Halen had 4 #1 albums in a row with Sammy and then ignored them. Finally re-releases are coming with all the Van Hagar music. Sammy's era of Van Halen was incredible. Great singer and can still sing . SLR cannot sing anymore. For me I love both DLR and Sammy in Van Halen, but for me I was done with Van Halen after Balance.
Van Halen had an excellent run with Sammy and I'm so glad that they are finally listening to their fans and putting out reissues. I look forward to them as well. Thank you and have a great weekend.
As only an enthusiast, I can't compete with collectors who will stand in line and bounce off the door before the store even opens, so I have only attended the first record store day, the one intended to save record stores , and got the message. As for the comment about Chet Baker having a hard life, he was a junkie, so yeah anyone one would agree. Still managed to make valuable artistic contributions to music, just too bad he lived before advanced addiction treatments were developed. The guy once had his front teeth broken out in an addiction related punishment, and had to learn to play trumpet without any front teeth and sing at a professional level all over again.
That's such a sad story. Baker had so much talent. It's a shame he had addiction problems. His life could have been so much better. Thank you and have a wonderful week!
I'm glad you were able to get the Van Halen RSD release. I wasn't as lucky this time which was kind of surprising to me. I understand it really does sound good. I don't have any Sammy Van Halen LP's currently but I was kind of hoping to get this one. I think it's starting to get released or reissued or whatever the correct term is now so maybe I will be able to get a copy. I know that eventually I will and I'm not worried about it. I pretty much got what I did want so other than a few sellouts or the store didn't get items my RSD 2023 was very fruitful and enjoyable too :-)

Great hoodie! My opinion on Van Halen is that Dace was a better showman and front man but I think Sammy is the better singer. Both good in their own right in the day.

Great video Melinda - I was able to pick up the Duran Duran and Taylor Swift albums on RSD and I have been able to pick up the Cure's 'Show' album this week. Unfortunately, I was not able to locate the Eric Carr release. I was looking at the Stevie Nicks album today but didn't pull the trigger
The Eric Carr album sold very quickly. I think the packaging was very cool but the sound quality isn't getting great reviews. I still hope to run into the Stevie Nicks record. I'm glad it's still around and available. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.

I didn’t care about grabbing this for myself. As a KISS fan since the 70s I knew it would go up in value so I’ve left it sealed and will likely sell it in a few years.

Great video as always!! Got 2 of the 4 I wanted in person!! I got the Jason isbell and Amanda shires ep they did together and I got Amanda shires solo ep!! But I highly recommend them if you want to hear great Singer songwriter style music!! But I had two that were on my list that I had to eBay and they were the black keys first concert which that was on my list as a third item to have!! But I’m getting the our lady peace one in this week on Friday!! The cool thing about the our lady peace one is I’m getting it autographed by Steve Mazur who I know and am friends with!! I was very succesvoul with my rsd list this Year. 7 records on my list and i became every one. But the prices in Europe are beyond good and evil. Van Halen 140€ ,i think 150 US dollar Store price. Im also a big Van Halen fan. Stevie Nicks 63 €, Wings 45€ for a single record, thats beyoynd the pain threshold. For me,this has reached the upper limit. But thats only on the sidelines. I got Van Halen also ! Love it ! But I missed one ! Eric Carr from Kiss release an album that looks like the solo album from the 70's with the fox face paint ! I am hoping to find this one soon !

By the way Melinda I think you have good taste in music and I am pretty sure that your husband appreciates that. To me music is more than a disposable song list in a cloud or a file. The album form is more enjoyable and it has grown every year since the first record store day. But I know it is an exciting way to hear music to younger listeners and to some they will slow down on buying. So some sales for albums will slow down. I am not against downloading listening on the app I do own a nice Ipod classic and I pay every month for Sirius Xm service. For me music can be therapy and a mood altering thing and people in my family just don't understand. My Sister did not have a working stereo in her car or in her home. She had a bookshelves stereo that I set up for her, then I would make any excuse to buy her cds. I also got her to order a car stereo for her car so I could install it for her , and made sure it played cds too. After she had music in her car and in her house I noticed she bought a new cd. She did have like 8 cds when I got her a way to listen to them so I made a point to turn her on to another album from the cd she purchased. I am very observant about everything and I have bought her and her Husband cool shirts and they are even going to more concerts than ever. I am all in on music and I love turning people on to new music. A lot of the music I bought is because of back in the day someone played an album or cassette to me. Over the years I have what I call the wall of sound because it is on one wall from the floor to the ceiling with 2 1/2 " room to spare. I love going to independent stores and tomperuse the racks and stacks of music. The issue is I am having less time in all 12 stores I support and, I have others I still have not been to. I always order music on ebay and Amazon but doing it more than ever as my health is telling me I can't shop for long. I live in a suburb very close to Detroit and there are an abundance of stores, the city I live in is nice and it is is a top place to live in the States so I am very lucky.I have a disposable income for my hobby and I want to participate in record store day but I would need my concert chair and I probably could not stand once I was in the store. It is like Christmas when I get packages in the mail but nothing is like perusing the racks. Last time I went out I could only do one store each day because of the pain. Not long ago I was doing up to 4 stores a day, not thoroughly as I had a list with a game plan. So I know I am missing some music I am wanting. I have no problems finding music because there are lots of great music stores. One store was rated a top store in the U.S.A. it is nice to meet people who are fans of music and you can have a conversation with a stranger and they share collecting music as a hobby. I am not going to have meeting new people and finding music in real time getting a stack to take home. So UA-cam is my way to see what is going on and hear about music and get turned on to new things. I especially enjoy videos like yours and find you very informative and interesting. With my searches on UA-cam I found some cool things music related and it is filling in for not shopping in stores so much. While searching I came across someone who worked in the fast food industry with me he was a crew member and I was a manager. He was a big music fan and now he is a very big music collector and a architect. So he has lots of money and a huge collection of music now. I knew him in Florida and now he lives in New Jersey as he bought a home after renting a small apartment in New York. I am back in my home State of Michigan it is neat how small the world is with technology. I especially like the videos of people showing off their music rooms that is how I found the guy from Florida. He posts multiple times a week and I found him showing off the music he buys. He makes a point to say he has over 11,000 Cds and he is got to be getting close to 12,000 with the rate he buys them. He buys albums to, has no HI Fi just a simple stereo and he has about 270 boxed sets but he only has about 4500 CDs on display which I do not like. I got to have my music so I can grab it quick and load my 5 CD carousel. No boxes in the closet, I believe every home should have a media room he does have enough room because he has a basement that is finished. He is worried that it could be flooded , which is valid. I would have a generator outside and a sump and i would build each rack to be built 8" off of the floor. He has more CDs than me but I do have lots more music t-shirts than him, lol. I am jealous though. I am home a lot more I go out but only to go to all my Doctor's, for food and my music hobby, and buying clothes. So I sometimes type long essays or many mini books and I would not blame you if you quit reading before the end. Right now not to social except on the internet especially on UA-cam and Tiktok as I love watching all the cute French Bulldog videos. I want one that is my unlikely dream because it would be a perfect dog, a friend and my therapy dog. Sorry for the length of my story but my legit excuse is that I am alone most of the time. Melinda keep on posting your videos you are very good at creating content. Peace

Hello Melinda. 1st time watching one of your videos. I only got four releases myself, this past RSD (John Elefante, Ted Nugent, Ramones & Van Halen). Though I am a big Duran Duran fan, I ended up passing on the Rio Carnival. Already owning the Essential Duran Duran (Night Versions) cd, I had to pass on that one. As far as VH goes, I appreciate David & Sammy equally. With that being said when it comes to the Roth era songs I'd much rather hear David singing those tunes. Just as I wouldn't care to hear D.L.R. singing the Hagar era tunes. Normally I would have baulked at spending a hundred dollars on a four-record set, but the V.H. live was well worth the price.
I agree. Sammy does the best he can but hearing him sing the Dave era music just isn't great. Dave wouldn't even try to sing the Sammy era tunes. It's better when they stay in their own era. Thank you and take care.
Sadly, I couldn't make RSD, this time. So, I'll be watching for the ones I wanted on Discogs. Those include the Art Blakey, Hal Blaine, Husker Du, Eric Dolphy, The Residents, and the Niggets box.
I honestly wish the keepers of the Van Halen vault would release Vsn Halen's Zero demos (the ones Gene Simmons produced). The energy on those tapes is far more intense and hungry sounding than any of the albums.
I hope you get all of the RSD releases you are looking for. The Art Blakey release is getting some negative reviews for the sound quality. That happens sometimes with the RSD live releases.

Cool albums! I really like the color vinyl for “Rio Carnival”! I got Norah Jones “Little Broken Hearts Live”, Miles Davis “Turnaround: Rare Miles from the Complete On the Corner Sessions”, Hawkwind “The Iron Dream - Live 1977”, and Gong “Live in Lyon December 14th, 1972”. The Gong RSD release has three different vinyl albums, 1 blue, 1 green, and 1 purple. They had a beautiful design on them. Definitely the coolest color vinyl I’ve seen. The Norah Jones release sounds really good. It was such a special performance of the “Little Broken Hearts” album. I listened to it a couple of times already. I decided to hold back from getting the Dead release. Which worked out, because this week I found some fantastic albums out in the wild!

@@MelindaMurphy The Hawkwind is really good. To be honest, I’m not that familiar with the albums with singer Robert Calvert, but it was cool, and the instrumentation was fantastic! I know that Robert ended up being crazy, and the rest of the band had to leave him at a hotel early in the morning. He carried around grenades, knifes and guns. The band were scared for their lives. Crazy…. There’s a cool BBC documentary on the band.
If you went to Vegas, I hope you had an opportunity to visit Wax Trax. It’s worth the trip alone just to go there.

Hi Melinda, I'm new to your channel. Love the enthusiasm and positivity in your videos! This year for Record Store Day, I was able to get the records I wanted and stay within my budget. I bought the Donnas "Early Singles 1995-1999", T.Rex "Rockin & Rollin", the Rolling Stones "Beggar's Banquet", and Stevie Nicks "Bella Donna: Live 1981". Hope you're able to get the other records you wanted!

I also have never listened to any Grateful Dead songs all the way through either. To each his/her own I say. I’m just not the biggest rocker. But, whatever you like is fine by me. Who am I to say what you should listen to. But, I seriously could turn y’all on to music you didn’t even know existed.
Also, don’t worry about missing out on the Eric Carr, it sounds really poor, can barely hear the vocals on the tracks, I thought it would be a really cool one but definitely not worth it for me at least

There were two records I wanted but I didn't go and stand in line and went later. When I got there, they were both gone and I ended up getting the Elvis record and a few used records. It was weird, the list was good but I think I've gotten kind of burnt out by RSD? The prices have definitely soared and - don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled it helps the local stores - I think RSD needs to rethink it's releases in terms of who it works with especially if there's going to be a trillion copies. Not naming names.
The Elvis release looked very good. If I had been able to go that day, I might have bought it. The prices have gone up on everything including the RSD titles. 😳 Thank you and take care.

Albuquerque is sorta weak on RSD availability. But I did get the Stevie Nicks, also picked up the Rolling Stones & Dolly Parton. Dropped by the other RSD store and found Warren Zevon. Since I've managed to grab Cranberries!, Fraternity, Chet,& Muddy Waters (Woodstock) all online. The Donnas is my only miss, so really can't complain.

Once i had collected everything i could possibly want and recognized ....i started collecting Symphony LPs ,and Henry Mancini LPs .......just for the album art .....a couple if Liberaces ....Mitch Miller ...Sinatra ....its fun to look at even if i never play them ......a taste of the sixties mever hurts me 😊

Hey Melinda, some nice pickups. The Chet Baker "Blue Room" LP looks appealing to me. While I didn't physically participate in RSD, I did manage to buy 2 of your recommendations being Bill Evans "Treasures" and Chet Baker "Chet". Both are wonderful. The packaging on both, especially the Bill Evans is gorgeous and sturdy. I want to investigate more from these artists. Thanks for the inspiration 🙂. I also managed to order and acquire the "Nuggets" boxed set. It's been shipped to me today so hopefully I'll have it next week.
What you said about Chet not singing much kind of reminds me of George Benson. I believe he didn't really start singing until his "Breezin'" LP which included "This Masquerade" which won a Grammy. Happy to see you got the RSD titles you wanted! I too am absolutely loving that Van Halen. I took it off my list the night before RSD just because there were so many other titles I wanted and I couldn't justify the price for all of it. I went to my local record store about an hour before they opened like I normally do on RSD, well this time the line was literally down the street and around the block. I couldn't believe it! I just couldn't bring myself to wait in that line so I decided to just order online this year. In some way I'm grateful it happened this way because I had second thoughts about that Van Halen album. I decided to remove some other things from my list and go with Van Halen. Great choice!! I too tend to favor Roth era VH over Sammy era but he absolutely KILLS IT on this album! You're so lucky to have been able to see this tour! So far, I've also been able to get Fleetwood Mac and Madonna. Now, only Duran Duran and Stevie Nicks remain on my list.

I have likes Sammy Hagar in Montrose and his solo work especially the album Standing Hampton. So I was already okay when David Lee Roth left, I liked David's work with Van Halen. I knew people who did not like anyone not named David Lee Roth and they said they are not Van Halen and they called it Van Hagar even though they did not call the band Van Roth. To me it is silly and closed minded and they missed out on some really good music. Eddie, Alex and Mike were re-energized and put out strong music. Now again I liked Sammy's voice and he played guitar too. I too was upset when David left the band but I did like David's silly video and his EP and his first album. I may buy the 4 album set however I would prefer it on CD because I am a completist and if I got it on Album then I would have to buy all the Van Halen on Album. My music collection is vast and very eclectic which makes my collecting of music expensive. In fact is I also collect music artists and concert shirts which is over 200 now. I am hoping this set gets released as a CD there still people buying that format like myself and I know that albums can coexist and noticed cassettes are being made but I am done collecting cassettes as my 8 one hundred Napa Valley slots are full so no more room. The record companies have to understand that there is people like me wanting to get the CD form and some buy both formats I do have artists in all formats including cassettes, cds and albums of some stuff. I do not know how much music on each album in this 4 LP set and it is possible that it could fit on 2 or 3 cds.
I like both eras of Van Halen and respect everyone's opinion on that. I was also mad when Dave left and I still can't buy his EP. Lol. I do think Eat 'Em & Smile is an incredible album. Thank you and take care.

Hi there- I watched a number of live feeds on UA-cam and was amazed at the number of people in line for RSD (I skipped this year)! I'm sure a number of them were Ebay flippers
(many copies of RSD 'Red Rose Speedway' for sale at inflated prices now). Regardless, It warms my heart to see so much interest in vinyl in 2023. Sorry I can't review this year's releases but I would love to hear -or read- one of your viewer's opinion on the sound quality of the McCartney album. Glad you got hold of a few RSD releases this year. Take care; always entertaining.

The first two Duran Duran albums are both really good & especially Rio had many awesome remixes. After that , they became more of a singles band.

I would NEVER get up and wait in line at 4:00am to purchase records (or concert tickets). That's insane.
I got enough records where I'm not that desperate and really don't follow popular music like it did in the 70's. Most of what I purchase today are "Blue Note" re-masters/re-releases. Most "classic rock" releases are overpriced especially when they first come out. Not a big fan of "colored" vinyl either but I do think the release of Frank Zappa's "Hot Rats" on Pink Vinyl was a nice touch. The Grateful Dead "Europe 72" (50yr anniv. 3 lp set) is on my wish list for sentimental reasons. It's was my college roommate's favorite album and we went to see the Dead together during their "wall-of-sound" era.
Now just about every Gordon Lightfoot album will be "marked up" for a while. RIP Gordo. Great bio-pic about him on tubi, "If you could read my mind"

I really like the idea that the Sammy era Van Halen is starting to be reissued. Myself I wish not to buy the Live Right Here Right Now vinyl release, $100.00 US is a bunch of money. But I do hope we see the rest of the Sammy albums reissued. To be fair and honest; I have spent $100 on a boxed set of LPs, one was the deluxe reissue of 2112, the second time was for the 4 LP reissue of The Song Remains The Same Led Zeppelin's live album. I do like Live Right Here Right Now, just not enough to buy the vinyl version.

My main want this year was the David Bowie box set, and I was worried that it might sell out. However I managed to get one. Also got the Blur "Special Collectors Edition ", Gong "Angel Egg", Alex Chilton Live in Anvers , Dusty Springfield "Cameo", Marianne Faithful " A Secret Life" , Scott Weiland "12 Bar Blues". Also Born Heller ( Josephine Foster and Jason Ajmain) though that wasn't a RSD exclusive. I was tempted by the Bill Evans Treasures, but I had already blown my budget!

Didn’t stay at the Store longer than 2 hours, purchased five albums, basically I’m like a kid in a sweet shop when it comes to buying Vinyl Albums, the reason I left when I did was the prices this year, crazy inflation or what. I contemplated the Chet Baker album, he plays a beautiful horn, but for whatever reason I can’t handle him singing. However listening to your comments I may well reconsider lol. I think I bought my bookshelves from Walmart. I bought 4 and I stacked them to make two tall book shelves. It was very important that we anchored them to the wall so they wouldn't collapse. They were very affordable and I am happy with them. Thank you and take care.
Like yourself, I too was unable to physically participate in RSD 2023. There were really only two Lp’s that I wanted. Bill Evans Treasures, and Stevie Nicks Bella Donna Live. Thanks to a friend, I did obtain the Bill Evans, but Stevie Nicks had already sold out. I’m happy to hear you did get your Duran Duran, Chet Baker, and Van Halen! Hi Melissa, great video. I picked up a bunch on RSD but not Van Halen. One sleeper I don’t hear anyone talking about is the Muddy Waters Woodstock Album, which I love. All star backing band with Levon and Garth from the Band and the always stellar Paul Butterfield on harmonica. Plus Bob Margolin and Pinetop Perkins! Muddy sounds like he’s having the time of his life. I’ve heard you say you like some blues, this is a great one to have. Take care, Sandy.
