I got this reel in mid 70's to fish for paddle fish in the Yellowstone River. Over the years I used it for catfishing. I found it in my quanset as I was cleaning up. (I'm a retired farmer). I saw your video on rebuilding the Diawa 7000C and tried it out on this reel. I found it worked and cleaned up well except for the part called the oscillating slider, This part needs replacing. Any suggestions on getting the part?
These were popular reels that were made in high volume as they were sold for years. You should be able to find the part or a donor reel sold for parts on Ebay or another online site. Thanks for watching - Dennis
I had a 7000C as my very first surf fishing reel in 1977. I just got a beautiful one on EBay. When disassembling it to clean and service it, I was unable to remove the rotor. I didn’t want to force it until I understood what was going on. It didn’t need to be removed as I oiled the bearing and it was just like new. I’d just like to know how. Do you have a video of the disassembly of a 7000C.? Will your video of a 4000C be the same thing? I really love this reel! Great video!
Don't take this the wrong way, but, get a hammer!. I will do a video to show you the rebuild of the 7000C this week. Your rotor probably just has some junk sticking the shaft to it and may need a little (that's little) Persuasion. Sometimes moving the rotor nut up top and then tapping with a dead blow hammer is all that is needed. Please watch the video before you try this! Stay tuned - Dennis
Thank you , now it will be ready for my upcoming salmon season this summer ! I will be using the 4000c ( that I purchased new in or about 1969) as well as a Diawa coastal TWS 200 HS bait caster using drop baits and light tackle . Something new for me . I'm used to using downriggers and mooching rods with much heavier tackle . Should be fun 😃 Thanks again..
Hi Dennis, where i can buy a bail tension spring. My son just broke his diawa laguna 3000 reel. The bail is lose so I open it up to find the spring is broken. Bail tension spring look exactly like the one you were repairing. Look forward to hear from you Thanks
Great work Dennis, love your videos. Keep the videos coming. Would like to see a full service of a Shimano Stradic CI4+ 3000 fa if possible. All the best.
I did a service on the Stradic 5000. The reel is very similar to the 3000 Stradic. Here is the like to the video. See if that helps - Dennis ua-cam.com/video/XtLVNVw9gIQ/v-deo.html
have you ever repaired a pinnacle viper pv50 reel? if so where can I get the crosswind for it at? I love your videos and learned how to repair and clean spinning reels. thanks for your videos keep'em going
I have not. I have worked on the Pinnacle Power Pad conventional reel. Pinnacle is an enigma. I have a box with no contact information and a web search shows absolutely nothing regarding how to contact them. My guess these are job lots ordered by distributors that sell them out and move on. I cannot even find who owns the brands. So, my guess is that you will not be able to find what you are looking for. Are you looking for the crosswind gear or the block? If any viewer can help, Please send along the information. Thank you - Dennis
Can you send me a picture of both the front and back of the block and send it to my email - 2ndchancetackle@gmail.com? Sometimes these are generic and parts from other reels may fit. If possible, include the width of the block, either by measuring it, or laying the part on top of a ruler or measuring tape. That will give me an idea of what to look for. I will try to help
the reel I bought was from a yard sale. it was only 5$ but when I took it apart it was missing the crosswind block. been trying to find one online but with no luck
Hi Dennis, I was wondering if you could sell me a bail holder screw part #351-6401for my Diawa 4000C it has been lost! Or, is there anywhere I can order one? Thank you!
I don't believe that you can do this without disabling the anti-reverse. I was told that there is a conversion kit available, but I am not aware of it and have not seen one for sale. You may want to scour the internet to see. Please let me know if you find one. Thanks for asking - Dennis
I have a real old Daiwa 700c reel with a broken bail spring. Your video explained how to replace the spring. Works like brand new. Thanks.
Glad it helped - these are worth maintaining. One of the best reels ever - Dennis

I just did a rebuild on a 7000c my question is this. Is it possible to lose the clicking on winding on a/r mode?
