- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- In this video we'll be breaking down an early euro Porsche 944. The engine needs to be completely overhauled, the seats need to be reupholstered, and the body has some rusty spots. So this car will be getting a full restoration and in the end it should look great!

Happy new year from Scotland, I hope you had a good day and a great year ahead.
I have been working on parts of mine tonight for the rebuild, cleaning the manifolds.
I am looking forward to your next install of videos,on this car, it will be great viewing as always.
Oh my car is an 84 UK car and has electric windows, so I'm not sure about those, still it's less to go wrong 😀🖒
Awesome! Sounds like you've got a fun project! Looks like this car has been very popular so I'll try to get the next video uploaded as soon as possible! Happy new year to you as well!
If you do cut a quarter to swap please post it! I have to do both on my 88 celebration and could use the learning experience!
I probably won't have to on this car, but there is a car coming in that is going to have the quarters swapped so I'll make a video on that!
Happy new year.
Thanks! Happy new year to you too!
Happy new year!
Thanks! Happy new year to you too! I hope all is well!
I presume that car was imported from Belgium or the Netherlands . The safety regulations over there required to have the low impact alloy bumpers like US cars but also the euro driving lights so that front bumper is pretty unique being alloy not fiberglass like the rest of row cars and having the euro driving lights and 924 carrera gt rubber bumperetts. The rear US bumper should also be factory installed and correct to that car.
Thanks for the info. I didn't even notice anything odd with the car at first, but will be keeping the rear bumper since it is original to the car. That said, according to what I've been told this car is a German market car that was purchased by a US soldier stationed in Germany back in the 80's. He then he brought it back to the states with him afterwards, so perhaps it was ordered with plans to bring it back to the US all along and decided to go for the stronger bumpers? No telling, but I'll try to keep this car as original as possible!
This bumper was available in the EU as an option, but I'm not sure on the exact country. It's not like the normal plastic euro bumpers. I've seen early press shots of EU cars with this aluminium bumper fitted, but I've never seen a car with it fitted in real life.
It was pretty interesting to see. This is a German market car with the option. I didn't even notice it was different at first since we don't see a lot of euro bumpers here. I was taking the engine out when I noticed that is stuck out a lot farther than I remembered. Then once I saw the options it made sense and realized the rear bumper was also correct. So we'll probably keep it since its original. Thanks!
Mine has a full red reflector panel on the rear that says porch were the license plate goes
Those are aftermarket pieces that you could order out of catalogs back in the day.
Hey Brent, soon youll have a garage so Luke and James can get out of the grass :D Looking forward to the rest of the videos. How do you clean the parts prior to zinc?
Yep, hope to have one soon so we don't get rained out and get behind on work as much as we do now! That said, I usually scrub the parts with de-greaser then have them sandblasted to remove the existing zinc plating then take let the plater handle the rest. Thanks!
Happy New Year's all. The prices on those alloy ero bumper are ridiculous and that is presuming that you could find one but they do look killer on a narrow body more so than on a wide body IMO. And where did you source out a spec water pump? The only ones I could get now are the ones for the turbo which requires you to buy an additional cap.
Yeah I've heard that they're rare, bummer. I usually source the water pumps from Rock Auto. They have the cheapest prices and both the N/A and turbo pumps the last time I checked. Happy new year!
hey buddy!
Hey! Happy new year!
Brent, I'm looking at a car that has this same fabric. Where did you get the new material for this one? Was that Euro only fabric?
I've seen the material on quite a few US 924 and 944's so I don't believe it was Euro only. That said, I purchased the fabric from this ebay store! www.ebay.co.uk/sch/steufmehl-teile/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
@@edredas Thx, thats a great ebay store. Looking forward to part two of this
is there a part two of this video?
Not yet, its currently in production!
@@edredas OK thx very much for the very speedy response. I'm really enjoying your videos. And learning a lot.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy them!
wow nice one, im currently restoring a 1982 euro one wich has a slightly better condition with the rust and was in a barn for 13 years....i wish you good luck on that one :)!
any tips on what you MUST do on cars that where abandoned? Btw i have a clutch pedal issue (clutch falls to the bottom and the clutch is always apart, any tips for that one too?)
Awesome! Thanks for the luck, I'll need it! I pretty much treat all these cars the same. The water pump and oil cooler seals are a must, along with the front engine seals. A lot of times I just go ahead and do the head gasket if its original... pretty much everything but the rear main seal. I'll change that if the clutch is toast or I see that it's leaking, but really otherwise. That said, if the clutch pedal falls to the floor then you'll need to change both the master and slave cylinders since they fail together. I hope that helps!
@@edredas thanks for the advice! gonna get some new ones then really soon and let you know if it worked :)!
No problem! Good Luck!
hi bro what do you think about this porsche 630?
So what will the car be worth after all this $$$ and labor is dumped in it?
No idea, whatever someone is willing to pay I guess!
Hey man, I got some questions about a Porsche 944 I want to buy from a neighbor, I I followed you on Twitter (@2girls1micky) I have some pictures of the car I want to show you and I want you to tell me if I should get it for the price he’s asking, thanks.
Sure! You can send them to me on twitter but I'm on facebook and instagram as well!
Where is your business located contact info etc.
labor rate etc just curious when i want some work done
We are located near Charlotte, NC. Email me at edredas@gmail.com for more information. Thanks!
Where are you located I need work in my Porsche
I'm located just outside Charlotte, NC!
and how much was all this worth?
To do a resto like this? Depends on what needs done. With a tub down resto you’re probably looking at $10k-15k
Why does that car's engine have an early oil pan? Is it perhaps not the original engine?
I'm not entirely sure whats going on with this car. Seems to have an engine out of a 1986 but with an early pan. I'm not sure if things were changed around but there's some other weird things with this car that are factory, like the heated washer nozzles which most cars didn't get until 1985.5. I thought maybe someone just tacked the hood one but its the factory hood with wiring and everything, so I'm wondering if this car was perhaps a factory mule of some sort?
what oil do you use/recommend?
I'm currently running Valvoline full synthetic 20W/50 in my personal cars.
@Theodore Misc I was running 10w/40 before my recent oil change so I don't really have a personal preference for oil, and oil discussions often break down into an all out war on forums. That said, lot of 944 guys swear by 20w/50 since it has a higher ZDDP content then other modern oils, which is said to be better for the flat tappets. As mentioned I don't have a preference and will often choose oil according to weather and driving habits, so I just posted what I'm currently using.
11:08 prices kit ?
dra gon everything there was bought separately and cost about $1k US dollars.
@@edredas ok thanks
Are you for hire?
Yes, you can email me at edredas@gmail.com. At the moment I have about six or seven cars on a waiting list but if you email me we can discuss some options and a time frame for squeezing you in. Thanks!
No I am drunk. From all the panning and zooming.
Watched video ,seen in 20 seconds it wasn't Turbo and moved on ...
Cyl 1, it can be a bad injector.
Happy new year
Definitely looks like fuel was running down the head there and hydro-locking could explain the broken compression ring. I'll be sending the injectors off to be cleaned and flow matched so hopefully that will tell me something. Happy new year!
