Im 21 years old and i discovered your channel a week ago. You made me buy a safety razor and the rest of the equipment from shavenation with bowl and brush with proraso cream and i have no regrets! Its the greatest shave ive ever done and my face is so smooth. Thank you for teaching me how to properly shave Geo :)
Welcome to the family!! Or should I say "Welcome to the rabbit hole?" **GRINS** I am kind of the same way. I'm 53, have been shaving for 36 years, most of them with cartridges and disposables, oh and I DESPISE electric so-called razors. Well, a few weeks ago, I caught a few Gentlemen's Gazette videos about shaving with DE. Then Geo popped up in my recommended. I guess I have to thank the much maligned YT algorithm for that... LOL Well, I watched that first vid, I don't even remember which one it is now. I was HOOKED!! I started prowling ShaveNation and mustered up the courage to call and ask questions. The most burning question was, closed, or open comb? Which razor would Geo suggest for a beginning, visually handicapped, wet shaver. Geo suggested three and I decided on the Merkur 34C. Geo was very kind and really put my mind at ease while he shared his wisdom with me. Thanks @Geofatboy!!!! Besides, I'm from Illinois, so is Geo and ShaveNation. So it was a natural choice to order from SN when I decided to pull the trigger and began to build my own personally ( by me ) customised shave kit. Hey, gotta support local businesses, right?? Now, I'm three orders in, and have nearly completed building that kit. I went from a stranger, to a confirmed and LOYAL SN customer. Now, while I waited for my first SN order, I went to a local beauty supply shop and picked up a get-me-by DE shave kit. DE razor, blades, soap, and brush. I haven't gone back to disposables, never will. That first DE shave was the closest I'd had since I was attending University and was gifted a straight razor shave with a local barber as a graduation gift. Well, when I got my SN order the shave was even closer!! As Geo says. "Have A Great Shave, And Have A Great Day!!
@@rbux1636 Now im actually trying to mix old with new. Im very happy with the DA razor but its taking me a while to do a shave. I have a Phillips Oneblade that im very happy with. I do regular lathering on my face and then i go over with the Phillips Oneblade. Very good result, i have sensitive skin.
Hey geo, as one of your very old time viewers could i make a request, please bring back the old intro it was much more exciting and i knew i was about to watch a sick shave when i heard that music with the intro announcement:D
The R41 is fantastic. With the weight of the razor itself, you can really just let it gently glide across the surface. The weight of the head is enough.
I spoke with Geo this afternoon. He kindly answered my questions and when I got to a lather question, he pointed me to this video. He's a mind reader... lol That conversation makes me proud to be a member of the ShaveNation! I'm extremely happy with my 34C HD. I'm a tactile/audio shaver. The 34C ( Trying out a Derby Blade ) gives me excellent audible feedback as I shave. The closer the shave, the softer the audio feedback. So far ZERO nicks and skin irritation in the week that I've been using the 34C.
34c is a great razor. I was using Wilkinson butterfly, bluebeards revenge cutlass and Mühle r89.....missus got me 34c for Christmas - such a smooth shave! Definitely my favourite 👍
@James Inman Hi Mr. Inman, I love my 34C, however, as you know it's short handled. So, I've ordered a 38C to try the same head with a longer handle. I'm sure that I'll love it too. A funny story. Last night J swapped out a Derby blade that had lasted me a week's worth of shaving for a Dorco blade. I wanted to use the Dorco so I could start with my Shark blade trial on Sunday. Now up to this point, I'd had zero nicks or skin irritation using the 34C. Within the first pass with the Dorco loaded I was nicked four times. I finished the pass, ripped the Dorco out and put the Shark in. My Goodness!! What a difference! At the end, my face stung like crazy when I ran the alum block over my face. First time I'd been stung by the alum. I guess the takeaway is, I'm never going to buy more Dorco's. Even dull the Derby gave a better shave. I knew it was time to swap out the Derby cos I felt it tugging the night before. I like the Shark, and will see how long it lasts, then swap in a Feather and see how it does. Again I have to thank Geo, because right before I pulled the trigger on my first order (Ive placed three and am almost done building my self built shave kit ), I'd seen a video of his suggesting a starter pack. Best blade advice I've heard. Once the blade shootout is over I might try another starter pack, or I might bulk up on the shootout winner. I'm being cautious cos a 100 pack could last me nearly two years... LOL
What an incredibly efficient shave ! I´ve been watching many Geo videos, but this has to be in the top5 for sure. By the way, i watched your Muhle R41 video from 10 years ago, and you dont appear to age at all, my good Sir. Geo have you found the fountain of youth ? ♥
Learned proper technique with this razor. Then I learned fine angle control with a Feather AS-D2. Two amazing and different razors. Once I learned pressure, direction, skin contact and speed with the R41, it was easy to apply that knowledge to the Feather, a razor that almost begs you to press it against your skin. _Don’t._ I now get 2-pass BBS on 2-3 days’ growth with the Feather, thanks to the R41. It is an amazing shaver in its own right, though I prefer less blade. Still, you should learn how to use razors that give you a lot of blade feel. It will be uncomfortable at first but as you learn the way of it, all of your shaves will benefit. Thanks for letting us see this great razor Geo.
13:40 that's actually how I got 2 if my friends into the wet shaving world, I noticed they were reluctant when I told them about de razer shave so I payed them a visit and showed them how it's done. They immediately fell in love with it!
Judging by the visuals, it seems as though this new lather method you're using (in the last couple of videos) produces lather that is a little thinner and more runny than your older methods. At least that's what it looks like on the computer screen. This is also my experience with my own lathers. I envy you being able to use that R41. I have one, and just can't get a pleasant shave under any circumstances. I have tried many times. All the best Geo.
What is the odds, today picked up the R41 with black handle. Awesome results on head shave. I have tried King C Gillette, too mild. Parker 66R, aggressive but too much blade reveal and too flat top cap, poor feel on riding the cap style. But this 41R is piece of art. Great feel on riding the cap! Presicion on the blade reveal, meaning that comb and top cap protects from wrong blade angle. Thanks for the video Geo!
Just received my r41 today and I made the a fatal error. I put the safety bar on the wrong way and tried to shave. The lines it created on my face was awesome looking. Unfortunately the razor itself was not touching my skin. It took me a few minutes of my dumb ass error. Great shave on both my face and head. I did cut myself around my chin but that’s the most difficult part of a shave. Even with my Boker straight razor makes it hard. Bought this r41 because I shave my head and using a straight razor on my head is impossible to do
Hi Geo- Great shave and shaving product reviews; thank you! Very nice-looking gear. I have been enjoying watching you prepare the Uber lather in the last two videos- nicely done, as always! Enjoy the rest of the week. Be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Geo!
Oddly satisfying and relaxing to watch. I hope that doesn't sound creepy lol. I think it's because I haven't had a good shave in awhile and I miss the feeling.
Great shave Geo💈💈 R41 Black is a stunning razor, wish I could use one but alas not for my skin. You made it look easy, congrats. Nice products used for the shave, thanks. Enjoy!
That handle looks nice. BTW the link for the Iwatch case/band is now working, ordered one....it just looks cool; plus 30%off on the black model. Will try the soaking method with Proraso cream....might be a better option than adding water
Again a great video. I hesitate to purchase the R41 for both head and face shave, but it keeps me intrigued nonetheless. I do have a small request: could you make a shaving video using the Clubman Pinaud Classic Barber Shave Cream? I wish you a great week and weekend from Belgium!
How come you have never reviewed MARUMASA Tatara adjustable safety razor? I know it is more than 370 bucks, but it seems to be a very good razor. OR NOT? What do you think? Is it just an overpriced razor, or the investment for a lifetime, a razor that can beat all the others? One thing is for sure: design is really great. They really paid attention to every detail.
I don’t have a shaving question. I was wondering what that Apple Watch band is? Edit: I just saw that you put which apple watch band you have in the description. Thanks!
Great shave Geo! Question, I was looking into trying out a straight razor, are their any you would recommend to a newbie? Preferably one that would be hard to cut myself with because honestly I'm pretty intimidated by them but want to take the plunge into trying one finally. I really enjoy all my de ones but would like to try something different. Thank you John
I was fine for several months with RR1. After a good long break I've gone back to it and although the nicks are few, my skin feels like it's been scraped off. I'm using Astra blades and decent creams. After watching this I'm going for a lighter touch next shave. I'm not sure the answer is perseverance, either. Never mastered the Shavette!
Hi Geo! Great video as usual! But I have a request....could you please refund the money I paid you almost two months back, for the Opgress that never reached me? My mails to you regarding this have gone unanswered. Regards, Dr. Basu.
That slow-mo-man-down moment made me laugh 😄

Have about 7 razors. The only time I use the R41is when I don't shave for a week. It's incredible. Takes it all off.

Handsome razor 😍 the black handle really makes the razor stand out probably just as a close shave as you would with a straight razor.
I bought this razor about a year ago at Art Of Shaving at Disney Springs, I love it .
Best safety razor. As close to a straight as you can get.
Likely true!

Oh, I forgot mention the blades that I used. With Mühle R41 tried Feather and Mühle blades, Mühle was better for me, blade seems to be thicker.
Nice job Geo. I have the R101, and it’s fantastic. For brush, the Omega 48 professional is absolutely amazing. All the best

I have the R102 and it shaves great. I have used the Mühle Sandalwood shave cream and it did a nice job, but the scent is faint. Have a great day.
man !
this razor is so beautiful ❤️😍
Now that is one fine looking razor!!!!!
How do you get to Geo’s lather party?
Call Uber Lather😂
Great shave Geo💈💈 R41 Black is a stunning razor, wish I could use one but alas not for my skin. You made it look easy, congrats. Nice products used for the shave, thanks. Enjoy!

Perfect shave !!!
Excellent review
I enjoy the R41 I have with the rose handle…….but not as a daily razor. 💪🇨🇦

Great man! Follow you from Italy ;)
This black part is just the same material of the rosegold?
Funny part geo i live 2 hours from chicago plus my dads side live over their
Keep up the great work!!!!
I love my omega brush. For 10-20 bucks, you'll have a brush for years to come.

this razor isn't stainless steel is it? it seems to be your fave. It don't look that special to me though
I don’t have a shaving question. I was wondering what that Apple Watch band is?
Edit: I just saw that you put which apple watch band you have in the description. Thanks!
Hi. Really enjoy your vids. Question - Can you use the unused lather on your next shave?
Is it the same size as the grande or standard ?
I love butter fly de razors less dangerous and easy operation
Great shave Geo! Question, I was looking into trying out a straight razor, are their any you would recommend to a newbie? Preferably one that would be hard to cut myself with because honestly I'm pretty intimidated by them but want to take the plunge into trying one finally. I really enjoy all my de ones but would like to try something different. Thank you John
as newbie try to get a shavette. so you can try it out before you go all in with straight razors. ive got a dovo straight razor and i like it alot.
Its okay to use a R41 daily?
yes, its a great razor. first two times i used it i was not sure your skin and whiskers are not used to it but after that you'll love it.
No one ever invites me over for a lather party.
Get some.
Geo. Totally irrelevant, are you more partial to shave creams than soaps?
U R Awsome bro!😁
I've got an R41 and just can't seem to not shred my face to bits with it. Any tips??
Trade it in for a Henson ++. You're welcome!

Copious amounts of runny lather.
