- Jay Slater update: Jay Slater's family has released a CCTV snapshot that might hold the key to tracing the missing teen who disappeared in Tenerife.
Jay Slater CCTV: Captured in the area of Santiago del Teide around 6pm on Monday, this image was captured nearly ten hours after Jay was last seen in Masca, less than four miles away. His family reportedly hopes the grainy image is of Jay Slater.

Its difficult because this is a much bigger island than Symi and the mountains are completely different, sheer cliffs, tall jagged mountains, and forests. I think hes up in the hills somewhere kind of barren, without many trees if any, its not super steep and treacherous but its remote, it doesn't look towards the sea or any great views, its kind of nestled in between the hills, but its hard to find a location exactly like that on google earth on that part of the island.
They can take images of the moon, and galaxies a billion light years away. But stick a camera on the street and all you get is pixels.

I am surprised that J was seen on CCTV, and in that area, but he didn't attempt to charge his telephone, if he still has it on him. He was in a populated area, and could have asked for assistance. It's 2024... why do we still have these crappy cctv cameras, we've all seen a 4k cam? Start dippin your pockets for decent cams for goodness sakes. Looks like the same rubbish here from the cams in the 70's
With CCTV its all about storage, although you can buy really good high definition ones the problem is where do you store it. Imagine sending/storing a months worth of4k footage at high frame rate, most cloud servers wont be able to handle it. So you are stuck with onsite physical storage which has its own drawbacks.
If it were him and it was somewhere away from the house with the two shady men, why hasn't he shown up? From what and from whom is he hiding?
You can buy a 128TB ssd these days for £130... so on-site storage shouldn't be that hard to get hold of, and it doesn't need to be 4k. HD is a step in the right direction. Theres no excuses in this day and age for bad quality cams.

That area is the volcano area, el Teide. It's a beautiful mountainous area, but the main roads are well maintained. I have been there. It's safe if you do not wonder into the terrain on your own. You need to be prepared with the right shoes, and water, even if you venture up towards the peak.
