  • This popular piece is a sample example for Bach's virtuos instrumental style. It shows also a stylistic relationship to the musical language of a Concerto Grosso in a way.
    Both mouvements of BWV 541 change the key G major into G minor shortly before the end and stop so the musical development for a moment. The subject of the Fugue has a distinctive profile. Its head-motiv is often performed beside the complete subject. The final of the Fugue present two Canon-performances of the subject.
