- Today's item includes an unboxing video of the rarest and most sought after Halloween mask ever made the Don Post Studios 1975 Star Trek Captain Kirk William Shatner mask which was used to create the iconic mask of Michael Myers aka The Shape in John Carpenter's 1978 classic film Halloween.
Knowing that mask came from the exact same mould as that of which the hero came from - has got to be the single most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in the Myers community since the release of the actual hero photos in 2018 40 years later.
Darren Hughes 75 Kirk is from the same mold the stunt mask, used in the unmasking scene, came from as well, which was rather interesting to find out
Space Emo Cosplay Which 75 Kirk are you talking about? The actual Don Post or the 75k from NAG? I own a 75k NAG and it’s amazing. Just amazing to see an actual 1975 Kirk from the exact mould press that the hero was born from. So amazing to see this mask in such detail and so up close knowing that this is the EXACT mask used for the hero
That absolutely looks like nick Castle is under it. Very little work was needed for Tommy Lee Wallace to perfect those eye cuts. You should 100% have that thing 3D scanned. You could make an absolute fortune. No matter how good artists are out their. Their sculpts are a mile off how it originally looks. That is so 78. I've got goosebumps 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Absolutely insane piece sean, that’s probably as close to the hero mask as you can get without it actually being a hero mask. Congrats on the score!
Wow that gentleman was superbly professional! Amazing piece 👌🏻
Hey man greetings from Belfast, Ireland. This episode is fucking amazing. I've been watching your stuff for years. This and the Tommy Lee Wallace rebuilding the mask episodes were incredible. I could go on and on about some of my other favourites.. Thanks for bringing this stuff to us all. Stay safe over there bro! 🔥 🎃 🔥
Thank you for watching.
Dude, that thing looks so much like the one in the movie even without the conversion
@SeedlessJellyBeans and it shows!
makes sense because I think all the best horror movie masks are kind of "normal" masks with just a little bit of tweaking
Huge congrats brother. Those markings do look like they match up with the hero and the condition of that mask is SWEET!
Awesome..the shape is still well almost in shape
Puppies are so cute!
That was funny as hell when u did the air quotes “might be able to get him back into.. SHAPE” 😂😂😂😂😂
What a find! Thanks for sharing the video. Of course, I have to ask the question - Do you already have a bid on Shatner’s actual head?!😂. Just imagine the value of having the head that inspired the mold!
Looks absolutely amazing! Congrats on your huge score 😎🎃🎃
Sean That's awesome man! I've never seen one in that good of shape
Amazing....🤘🎃🤘
It must be worth a lot if he got on a plane and hand-delivered it.
Every one of these collection videos seem to find more ways to impress me. That mask looks great especially considering its age.
Thank you.
The brother is the spitting image of a young Johnny Carson
ALL SO COOL!!!!!
Congratulations Sean!
That is so damn awesome Sean u have the grail sir!
i wonder why old latex masks hold up so well but ones from 5 or 15 years go that were kept correctly rotted? great piece though!
They used Claytex back in those years
Love this! Do more! =) and thank you!
i dident know these still existed
Dude love your stuff it would be awesome to own a lot that stuff. Maybe one day when your ready to sell that is lol.
I actually got a Michael myers mask at the magic shop in Disney world back in 1990 and it was $40. That was alot of money for me I was 11 years old
Sweeeeet! I'm jelly! ROCK on!
“Best investment I ever made” yeah dude, I’d say so. $40 back in the 70’s and probably went for at least 20x that now. It’s in pretty pristine shape too, maybe send it in to a place for conservation? Not restoration but conservation.
Try around 500x that now.
Did you have it 3-d scanned?
Classic Kirk mask and i like it 👍
What does one that good shape go for
I literally live 5 miles from the town this mask lived in. I’m in Johnson City TN. I would have legitimately wrote a check for 10k for this and saved this fellow the hassle of traveling. Dam the luck.
I lived in Johnson city Tennessee
I have a question. Are you going to keep it as is? Or you going to Michael it up?
Oh the mask community wouldn't let him live that down
@@seanbeard7558 Keeping it 100% original.
Is it super thin?
Mr Bungle!!
I’m actually starting my Halloween collection
Amazing Sean Ik if someone got one it would be you Hahaha
I lowballed it, I meant like 200xs what he spent. I would mark out hard for a screen used RZ Micheal mask, they’re out there bc I’ve seen them on YourProps. Are you on there Sean?
You still low balled it. LOL!
Please do whatever you have to do to preserve it as is.
It also proves their is really no such thing as the castle stretch. Its obvious nick didn't stretch the mask at all. It should now be called the warlock stretch.
Castle did stretch the hero mask because his chin would only fit in the neck plus he had a lot of hair which you can see sticking out the back of the mask in several behind the scenes shots, plus you can tell both Nick and Warlock had stretched it because the eyes have drooped big time and the tears on the edges of the eyecuts are from when Warlock would wear it, the velcro on the neck stretched it more as well
The mask looks like this because it sagged from gravity. In its original form, Nick’s head is the one that makes the mask elongated stretch
Man I'm going from East Tennessee Johnson City right outside of Bristol near Bristol motor speedway her I was born in Elizabethton same distance from Bristol I'd like to know where he was from in East Tennessee
How much did that set you back? Is your collection insured?
Too much.
HALLOWEEN 1978 WOULD NOT HAVE EXISTED WITHOUT PSYCHO 1960,,IT IS A COMPLETE COPY
How?
@@peytdawgs9909 HOW???the large kitchen knife the stabbing from top to bottom is copyed from psycho,,DR loomis is copied from the detective chasing norman bates,,the shower scene is 2 times on halloween, the first when myers boy kills his sister, the second one is made inside out when myers stalks curtis in the closet,,the way curtis enters the house and discovers the corpses,is copied when the sister of marion crane enters the house of bates and discovers the corpse mother,,the end of halloween is copied from psycho when curtis takes off myers mask and then dr loomis shoots him, because the boyfriend of the sister of marion in psycho is also named loomis and is the one who unmasks bates making him drop the false wig and taking him in the basement.
@@peytdawgs9909 As you will see then, it is no coincidence that curtis daughter of marion crane starred in halloween.
@@peytdawgs9909 Psycho was the first slasher both for the theme, for the aesthetics of the murders and for the first masked or disguised serial killer,,LIKE IT OR NOT
That’s awesome, the real question is what did you pay for it?
Just an educated guess, no less than 10 no more than 20.
@@Quiksilversurf311 You are correct.
@@malfuncsean Well worth the price, I've been a fan of yours for years now this is my favorite videos followed by the Tommy Lee Wallace Episode.
Do you like the universal monsters films
Yes I do. I'm more of a 70's and 80's child but of course I appreciate the original Famous Monsters.
@@malfuncsean you got a new sub love your channel
How much did you pay for this my dude?
WOW!!!!!
Bitchin'!
How does it have the castle stretch if " at the time dude said he got it?' Nick hasnt put his face in it yet? I don't think dude told the entire truth and I'm pretty sure dudeknows cause he knows probably more than I do and if it is legit holy fuck I can't believe it was even in the same state as I am because I'm also from east tennessee
It has a “castle stretch” because of the way it’s drooping… Stretching downward… Not that Nick castle actually put it on his head and it stuck that way
I laughed, "this is almost a holy grail item". Um, hell yeah! It is THE holy grail item for Myers mask collectors - scarce as hen's teeth, insanely valuable and desired by Myers mask fans worldwide. If I had a lazy $15-20k, and could even find one, I'd buy one. You are a lucky man Sean! They really stored it well.
Most of us have to make do with replicas and even those can be expensive (think NAG) but nothing compared to this - this in a different league altogether.
How do you plan to store/display it?
That’s just incredible. I cannot believe how amazing it still looks 40 years later. Very very cool. Got chills when it was taken out fo the box. Congrats Sean. Sure nice people that had it. So cool
Looks like Jamie Lee Curtis is doing 2 more Halloween movies YES!!!!!!
3D scan it. Sell the model for one to two bucks each, and you would get so much money.
With technology now you could have it scanned with 3D imagery so collectors could have replicas without having to salvage your original mask. Would be pretty cool to have because even with the awesomeness of Nikos N.A.G masks sculpting and the hand full of masks that have lineage to a 75 kirk this would be the perfect representation of the shape! The End All Be All myers mask! Congratulations on your score.
That mask always reminds me of William Shatner eyes in the movie Devil's Rain
6:39 is that Weird Al Yankovic leaning on that lamp post?
Wow. Congrats, man. Always warms my heart to see history wind up in the hands of those who will care for it.
Need to get a 3D printer and have that mask scanned to make a solid mold and start selling some spot-on versions of the original Halloween mask. That would be absolutely amazing
So f***ing true
You probably already know this being a mask collector, but I would seriously recommend getting that foam head (if it is foam) out of it as soon as you possibly can because it will slowly but surely destroy the mask.
That room looks absolutely amazing
Oso his brother lives in Elizabethton Tennessee that's exactly where I'm from some of my family are the holtsclaw and my papaw was a whitson and im a Pierce
Wow unbelievable!!! 40 yrs in that condition!!!!!! Congrats Def one of the Holy Grails. 👍💯
This whole video is great but the part that gave me chills was the vintage pics & footage of the Magic Shop at Disney World in Florida. My family went to Disney World Florida many times when I was a kid in the late 70’s
& I remember it clearly. Being a little kid back then I was just in awe at all the Halloween masks. The (now classic) Don Post Darth Vader mask was brand new at the time and I was amazed just to see it. I also remember begging to try on a Fly Head mask and they let me. It was an ingenious design, instead of 2 big eyeholes like a typical mask it had many several tiny round eyeholes in every little facet of its compound eyes. So from the outside nobody could look in, but from inside the mask you could see out very well, like looking through a screen. I wanted that Fly Mask so bad but it was too expensive. Seeing the footage in this video brought back all those crazy memories!
PLEASE RESHAPE THIS!!! Wow this is the one that surfaced in the group!!
How much?
"Grail worthy," I couldn't agree more. Epic score bro! 🖖🗡
I love Halloween AND Star Trek so this mask gives me such mixed feelings. "oooh....modify it! Wait, don't modify it! No, modify it...!"
Keeping it 100% original.
@@malfuncsean please for the love of everything 3d scan it so we can have accurate H1 masks
That make cost $40 is 1975? Thats $220 in todays money
Man you need a better title for this crazy shit right here you’d get millions of views if you titled this accurately lol
Like what for example?
How much did you pay for this mask! I’ve never even seen the original where the Halloween mask came from I just know my father tells me every time we watch Halloween that it comes from this mask, it’s crazy! If you are willing to share the price tag I’d love to know lol
Someone had one of these on ebay around 4 or 5 years ago for a million dollars. I remember that being the talk of Michael-Myers.net for a good while lol. Needless to say it did not sell for that.
ThatHorror Critic Ha. I remember this. I was a kid at the time cruising through eBay searching for shatner masks and came across the ‘million dollar Kirk’. Remember begging my mum to buy it for me. Needless to say, and very well understood now, she didn’t get it for me haha.
You need to encase that in an ARGON filled display. Keep the atmosphere from ruining it any further. Should also encase any other valuable latex or degradable items in argon. It's cheap and simple.
I don’t recommend displaying it on a styrofoam head
Unfortunately, it may be stuck to the foam head......
@@richieluckenbill1590 It will be cut out for sure.
@@malfuncsean That's awesome! I wondered if that could be done or not. Very beautiful mask to say the least! Screams H1!
That's great, Sean! Glad you have one now in your awesome collection. Now, if you can get one of those Silver Shamrock emblems...lol
I want that mask. I pay for it. Someone find me. I have 37 myers mask. But this 1 is the Ferrari of them all.
Actually Star Trek Fans DO know that it's a very high priced collectible, not just because it's a Captain Kirk mask, but that it was used for Halloween. William Shatner has stated that he knows that the mask was used for Halloween, he's even worn the mask himself on Halloween one year
THRASHIN FILMING LOCATIONS W RUSTLER PLZ !!
Can we have a video how you make your hair/mini Mohawk, seriously.
It would be a really short video. Takes me about 90 seconds.
That is a holy grail for sure. Doesn't get a whole lot cooler then that. Amazing how well it's held up over years. No doubt you'll be taking good care of it and doing everything you can to make sure it lasts another 40 years.
1975 mask.. hairline is lightyears ahead of TOTS!
This was one heck of a cool video. I was not expecting that mask to be 40 dollars back in the 70s. For some reason even before he said the price, I was thinking the mask would have cost 10-15 dollars back in the 70s. 40 dollars back then was a bit of money. Happy the guy kept it around all of these decades.. And as for YOUR amazing collection, I now call you, THE "HORRORder". Try saying that really fast 3 times. I can barely say it once, slowly. Great video. Great channel.
I thought I saw Adam the woo in this video 🤔
Congrats brah! Welcome back to the small club! :-)
That is SO damn cool, Sean! There is no better collector to own that mask than yourself.
Were you in the band Bullet Boys ?
At 3:40, I would have laughed if he would have made out with and started kissing the mask, LOL.
187 likes how perfect
Another Great look into the "Collection." An Original Shatner mask, all the way from WDW 40+ years ago! It looks like @malfuncsean has some neat looking "Disneyana" around the House. Hope that aspect of the collection gets highlighted someday.
Yes I am big into the theme park so I have lots o Haunted Mansion and Pirates stuff. I'll spotlight some soon.
@@malfuncsean Right on! I thought I spotted a fair amount of "Grim Grinning Ghosts" in there.
Awesome
How much you paid?

OMG!!!!😳😢😭😍 TEARS OF JOY!!!, This Is The Holy Grail of them All, I've Always said it would have Been Awesome if Debra & or Mr. Warlock would have took One for the Team so to speak, & sacrificed ,one of The 3 hero Masks & placed IT in the Smithsonian, we're Dorothy's Red slippers are From W.O.Z , Because just like That Film Carpenter's HALL🎃WEEN Is DEFINITELY a Cultural Phenomenon!!, & TO BE Shared With Fans World Wide!, Thank You So Much Sean, for Taking time out of your Busy day To Share with Us Fellow Fans!, love & Blessings to you Brother, The 1 who started it All. KEEP ON ROCKING!!!🤘 I hope to meet you 1 day, & GET Your Autograph!! 😊👍💯
How big is it compared to a TOTS Kirk, Elrod, Boogeyman?
Don't know. I don't own any of those.
Wow the condition of that mask is beyond words. I won't even ask how much you paid but fuck it if I had the spare cash I'd do the same it's totally worth it. By the way, my stomach turned when you talked about what happened to your original. I will go ahead and say on behalf of rabid horror fans such as myself, in regards to your sacrifice I will quote Han from Enter The Dragon: you have our gratitude.
Sorry for the language, but that can only be described as FUCKING AWESOME
Barton himself looks like Captain Kirk LOL
Badass! New sub from me!
👍
