I do karting and I get the "gimme one of them and I'll win" all the time. Pisses me off.
Tom Vernon Same people who say all modern f1 drivers can't drive properly because "assists" and "clutch". Assists have been banned since 2007!
Even karts are hella rough. People get so used to the idea of mall-karts that they think all I do is steer. But even after 15 laps I get exhausted. Not to mention the intense strain your ribs go through under cornering.
People literally stay in the direct center of the road for the entire track at the place I go to, and every single time, people sit there and go "dude, his kart is WAYYYYY faster than ours"......... except all the karts are literally the same.
@Dood Halo That I know. Drove lots of crap karts since mid 70's. Did not find out until mid 30's that was pretty good at it. Missed 2019 due to medical reasons. Did 1 race on Nov 9th and lower back and throttle leg was hurting! At one time doing a 1 hour enduro was nothing! We did one team race and it snowed.Sat in car with full heat before fingers thawed enough to undo my helmet! Also had the added bonus of 3.5 season as a track marshal. Lap 1 at turn 1of a club race was not boring! When moved up to club racing I was more relaxed behind the wheel then standing behind tire barrier!

I'm a huge IndyCar fan, but I have massive respect for the skill and prowess of F1 drivers and absolutely think that F1 is a wonderful form of Motorsport
@@magnussencube Technically it is faster in terms of speed, but F1 has a massive down force buff compared to indy so the corners make up for it.

I actually did a presentation about f1 driver fitness and everyone in my class was gobsmacked about how fit f1 drivers have to be.

I watch NASCAR and F1
I like both F1 and Indycars, both are exciting in different ways
I like all three
I think it's sad when a person only likes one and hates on the others. While I find the racing of NASCAR a bit more exciting (more passing) I still love F1 and Indycar. The strategy of F1 is exhilarating. Instead of crapping on the other sport, just enjoy all motorsports. We are all race fans in the end.
heres my opinion, nascar looks boring on tv, in the flesh its more exiting but still boring, nascar does in fact take alot of skill though. fl cars look interesting irl or tv, fast as fuck boiii on the turns blah blah blah, takes skill.
drift races, more interesting to see the inside techniques theyre deploying, is pretty much for show, still takes some skill
driving a bloody car takes skill, its what it looks like from the outside people give a shit about. doesnt matter how hard youre working if they cant see it, saying someone works hard doesnt get views

i remember going to 2014 yas marina and my dad offered me ear plugs and i went they're not loud cus i watch it on tv all the time and walk down to the front of the grand stand so im close to the track. Boy was i wrong even after the earphones are in the noise was so loud.

It's nothing to do with rule changes it's the fact that the cars are so advanced now. The drivers can give feedback on how the car feels and handles but there's a reason why all the engineers have university level educations. The work and calculations that goes into setting up these cars is way beyond one person who's never had an advanced level of education because they've spent their adolescence racing cars.

+TheCatfishGuy Lauda wasn't really tinkering that much...he has him self said that he knew nothing about engineering, he could just give feedback on how the car felt and was lucky enough to have great engineers who could use that feedback to set the car up better.
A friend in school said that F1 was only pushing the throttle and brake pedal and steer with it. He said that when you could do those three things, you could be a goof F1 driver... Well, he's not a friend anymore haha
Benide B Using paddles to change gears is never as easy as it looks because you can still screw up your transmission. Just ask 2 time champion Mika Hakkinen, who lost one race (I think it was in Monza) because he accidentally locked up his transmission and spun out. He was so upset that he was in tears.

@The Road F1 has never, EVER been a level playing field. Kids (well they're kids to me) complain about 3 teams at the front, 6 in the middle and 1 at the back today. When I started watching F1 in the early 70's the difference between first and last was much, much bigger, if they hadn't broken down along the way. In fact breakdowns, crashes were the only real levellers back then. Sadly drivers were still getting killed or injured with alarming regularity too.

F1 is a bit boring though. At least in other sports, you can see the action going on from EVERY player or players that will have an impact. F1 just shows the top 6 drivers 70% of the time and we never get to see the drivers lower in the rankings

Jarno Trulli, a former F1 driver, was known for being extremely fast in qualifying but rather slow during races. He drove midfield cars from Renault and Toyota, which meant he'd usually start the race ahead of faster cars and drivers. Because Trulli was in his prime in an era when overtaking was difficult, he would hold up other drivers to hold position. This often meant a train of cars formed behind Trulli, which became known as the 'Trulli Train'. It's pretty much the first thing that comes to the mind of most F1 fans when Trulli is mentioned, as it's his defining characteristic.

@@domegrobnik74 it actually doesn't give you pain, since there's a flow to how you turn the wheel. It starts paining when you stop driving the car. You might have experienced it during your first time karting

The worst one I've heard: "F1 drivers are only good because they're in good cars, if you put them in an Indycar or anything else they'd be terrible." Last I checked, Alonso was on pace for a top 10 at Indianapolis before his engine blew, and Formula 1 is the top racing championship in the world of course the cars are gonna be good!
IndyCars in the late 1990s was WORSE than F1. Ganassi won EVERYTHING for so many years that I stopped watching. Every single time I switched the channel to watch an IndyCar race, Ganassi's driver was on the podium. It didn't surprise me a bit that his star driver Zanardi sucked worse than a hurricane when he went to Williams. The guy was always a crap driver. No surprise that he started winning the instant his IndyCar was twice as good as anything else. (He never won a single race in the IndyCar seasons before he got Ganassi cars with Honda engines. Same goes for his teammate Jimmy Vasser.) Then Zanardi went to Williams and just crashed or lingered in the lower half of the grid. I can't believe he even got the drive at Williams. He truly is the worst driver in that team's history. Maldonado would have beaten him without any effort!
and now Alonso won Le Mans for his first try, being faster than all of his Toyota teammates

largol33t1 you’re clearly not lying about the fact that you stopped watching, because otherwise you wouldn’t be talking shit about zanardi. Watch the 1998 long beach race and say it was all car. Having a better combo certainly gave him an advantage, but some credit must be given to the driver for actually being able to do something with it. Also, did you even watch this video? One of the points on here was about giving all the credit to the car, which is exactly what you’re doing.

I have nothing against football tbh. The disadvantage of motorsport, in general, is that you need money to success. Unlike football, where all you need is talent (and some luck as well).

While I don't consider F1 to have a big impact on global warming, trying to suggest F1's carbon footprint is the equivalent of two long haul flights is nonsense given the number of long haul charter flights the series has. I would fell that a better argument is to compare the travel that other sports have (ie 30 hockey teams traveling to and from 41 road games while maintaining ice sheets in Florida). The fuel efficiency argument is a very good one, though.
f1 drivers are the smartest athletes. Their inhumanly fast reactions can apply to everything, when answering questions for instance. You don't see that in any other sport

And after they saw me race and raced themselves they didn't want to watch F1 but appreciated racing drivers

Then I volunteered to be in the starters box during a race in Perth and it was so loud, even with earplugs. The sound is amazing. As they pass the box, you just hear a massive BANG as they upshift. Try it for yourselves if you get the chance.

It's similar with downhill mountain biking. They say: "The bikes do all the work". I would love to see them riding a world cup track on a pro bike - they would crash on the first rock. "Downhillers are not real athletes - they just ride downhill." Those people haven't seen their training and they don't know that even a DH track still requires a fucking high level of condition and stamina even though you don't have to pedal that much.

MTB to me is the F1 of bike racing, I’ve seen POVs of riders doing downhill runs and it’s crazy how they go so fast through huge rocks and jumps and drops, they have to be as alert and as fit as F1 drivers are
