I would argue even in the Aus race (after Max retired) the race was incredibly boring and the most entertaining parts of that weekend were the Williams chassis drama and George’s unfortunate last lap crash. Obviously it was also great to see Sainz win, but for the most part the actual race wasn’t much different to normal, it was just Sainz ahead of everyone by quite a bit. The issues were still there, the winner was just different.
As an F1 'vet', they really are the best channels, especially milking the memes. When you understand all the memes in this you can call yourself a pro in F1 knowledge
I think a way to fix a part of the problem is giving everyone points, from first to 20th, that way drivers fighting in the back of the grid are actually doing it for something rather than just doing it for fun. No points to 19th/20th (alpine) bc yes
This is exactly what i keep saying, it would make the race feel alot more exciting as people would feel like their routing for something and it would make it harder for one person and one team to dominate. Plus i always feel so bad for the drivers who dont get any points, the leaderboard always looks so sad 😂
I mean as of now, f1 isnt that predictable considering mclaren is literally having one of the fastest cars and lando challenging max like crazy everytime, and hamilton got a podium. In the spanish gp lando got his second ever pole and the battle for p2 between him and russel i reckon was the only thing that was interesting💀💀
American owners, so you can bet something is coming to slant the budget, based on the results of last year, and/or importing driver salary under the budget cap. They like their sports firmly socialised.
A list of things F1 needs to be incredibly interesting: -More teams -Less technical regs -That's it. Seriously, ease up on the engine regs. I'm not saying that we need to go back to the 70s where everything from a V6 to a flat 12 to an H16 were on the same grid. Just... If Ferrari wants to burn more oil, let them do it. If merc wants their hammer time mode, let them have it. If RB wants bendy wings, let them have them. If everyone is "cheating," nobody is. I want the only engine restrictions to be on displacement and forced induction, but I know that'll never happen. All I want is something different than now, where I can't tell you what engine manufacturer a team is running because it doesn't matter.
Its so funny seeing team lh triggered by max's domination when lewis had a car 1 second faster than the rest for almost a decade at the point the only real fight was rosberg
There is actually a really easy solution to this problem, but it would require a big change to the structure. quite simply, Drivers no longer sign with teams for a whole season. Rather, each driver has to drive in each car twice. 20 Races, 2x with each team for every driver, teams and drivers bid and compete for what cars they want at what circuit. Instant competition at every race, and every driver is a contender. because lets face it, if you put any driver on the grid in the red bull all year, they are going to end in the top 3.
Solution: Extend points finish to 11th and 12th, that'll give eight drivers realistic targets to finish within the points and not have to depend on a top team to yeet their car into the walls. It will also reduce points attributed to luck on the end of year standings
I found my cure of boredom in WEC and WRC, the amount of team work, engineer, classifications, and rules makes those racing far more unpredictable. The fans are also fun to watch (esp. WRC). Many of those race cars actually end up on public streets for daily use. It's too bad they don't market WEC and WRC above F1.
After watching this video, the FIA took it personally, and made it so that hours later, Verstappen broke his engine, Hamilton and Russell retired and made the driver who Ferrari replaced be the one who is giving them their best results, including win the Australian race by a wide margin.
I think just change the points system to extend to the entire grid, not just the top 10. Off The Grid channel has a great video on it called "Is it time F1 update the Points System?". I'd recommend you check it out. If F1 was to adapt this, battles would be exciting at all positions in the grid, regardless of if the other teams are failing to keep up with the top teams. From the video, you could see that the recommended scoring system doesn't hamper consistent drivers and teams, but at the same time adds value to the less consistent teams trying their hardest in other races. It would also better represent individual drivers and team performances.
A retirement should be the only time you get no points just to try and prevent back marker mfs from trying to killshot other backmarkers for a couple points. Also add more strict penalties for thr shady lines these mfs take. Like if someone gets run of the track into a barrier the person who caused the crash should lose points that race. No more max bs and tbh lewis 2. Make the drivers drive correctly

An important thing to note about predictability is that most of the most interesting seasons or racing interactions happened IN SPITE of the obvious result. F1 hasn't been predictable since 23, it's been predictable for most of its history. People called Lewis a maniac for leaving McLaren, who were obviously the best, and doomers about Williams in the late 90s would have been sent for a long hike off a short bridge. That isn't to say that "oh you're wrong this vid is stupid" because it isn't, and I agree with you. But F1 isn't new to this, nor is it exactly unique to f1. Rugby, American Football, American Racing (like Indycar), F2, Soccar/Euro Football, Etc. Etc. Etc. - All trend towards having relatively predictable seasons and outcomes. It's either pure domination, or the sudden upheaval of a dominant force, that gets to the history books - not close, relatively even seasons. That's a huge part of why Alonso was regarded so highly. It wasn't just a champion that had close seasons, it was a champion that dethroned Michael. Same for Max now. I don't hear people talking about Massa ALMOST getting a title in 2008 as much as I hear Alonso ALMOST getting a title in 2012(lawsuit aside) - because nobody expected the 2012 Ferrari to be in the fight. Same with Kimi winning 2007 - an upheaval of the established, predictable order of things. So I think that, while I agree with you 100%, it's often taken to an extreme, or the assumption that all predictability is a bad thing, or not the norm. It's a lesson I believe you yourself have mentioned in previous videos - F1 isn't always 2021. And it won't be. Increased reliability has ensured that as well - and most old seasons were MUCH more predictable than the stat sheets show. There were some pretty dominant cars that just blew up enough to keep a championship battle alive, but not really in practice. TL:DR: Predictability is kinda inescapable, even in spec series and other sports... but it can be managed better. Thank you for another great video, fellow Fernando enjoyer.
I dont get it. When I was starting watching F1 Ferrari with Schumacher was always at 1st place for years and it was ok. Maybe the fact that people couldnt complain on internet helped a lot though.
so two things. First of all, great timing by saing that a Max DNF would make it interesting, i enjoyed the australian GP a lot, and second, i never expected RPM's "O b Russel" in your video, keep it up XD
7:13 I'M ACTUALLY CRYING, WHAT IS THIS CLIP AND WHERE IS IT FROM WHAT THE 😭⁉️⁉️ (On a serious note from a ferrari fan: Ollie actually did so good for his debut race, + with the fact he didn't even know he was gonna race until the day before is actually so impressive tbh. He did so well & he definitely won a lot of fans hearts)
Ngl as a Max Verstappen fan since 2016, I still remember the excitement of a rookie winning at Spain 2016 but after 3 years of Max's domination, it's getting boring yes as a Max fan it's getting too predictable. After the Australia GP when Carlos won, I felt excited that another driver won. (sorry for my bad grammar)
The main problem is we know not only the winner, but basically the entire top 10 before the race starts Let me lay it out for you: Max will win Perez will be 2nd no matter how he drives Leclerc/Sainz guaranteed top 5 on pace Mercedes are barely in the top 5 McLaren can’t decide whether they want to be top 5 Aston Martin will continuously fuck up when there is actual competition Stroll will fuck up because he’s Stroll VCARB exist Haas exist Alpine are slow Albon will be 11th-14th Ricciardo will underperform Stake will get knocked out in Q1 And the entire grid stayed the EXACT same. How exciting… 😴
Yes and no. Removing the cost gab and youll have same old same old. Better way is to scale the budget. The furter behind the bigger the budget. That way Redbull mercedis and ferrari dont limitless spend on the car as before. But teams like stake can soend more than them due to being lower ranked the year before and catch up more.
@@WrathNL I agree, but for the lower teams it is hard to meet the current budget caps let alone to raise them. So either accept the fact that F1 will always split between the big teams and the lower ones and cater for the needs of the top 5. O keep it like now and instead of watching a fight for the lead you watch Hulkenberg battle Tsunoda for p13
2:20 Correction: There are actually two sites that do that and they split the calender between them. Its the "ORF" (Österreichische Rundfunk meaning an austrian tax funded network) and "ServusTV" which is a tv channel directly belonging to the Red Bull GmbH (not the F1 team, the energy drink company). You are welcome for this... umm... fun fact.
It's predictable and boring. Simple as that. It's like watching a movie or show and knowing exactly what will happen, it just makes it less fun and uninteresting to watch or follow.
DRS and pit wall driver orders have wrecked the sport. No more driver battles, no more teammate battles. The best parts of the sport have been ruled out.

Basically its a system of consessions that ranks every manufacturer into rank and the lower ranks are allowed for instance to have more upgrades and actually have alot more test time for aero and unlimited for engine whilst the higher team have some limits placed upon them but the no spec parts extra or things like that
Rank changes happen mid season and in between them its a little more complicated but pretty straight forward system
So for the long term what this does is make the sport more natural because it still gives engineers the freedom to innovate trough out the grid but the higher you are the smarter you have to be and gaps will naturally close will this fix the wheel to wheel issue no
But it does fix the unpredictability issue and in a natural way as long as they don't tinker with it too much can be used over many regulations

This aged like milk😂
I dont get it. When I was starting watching F1 Ferrari with Schumacher was always at 1st place for years and it was ok. Maybe the fact that people couldnt complain on internet helped a lot though.
4:40 😂 the braindead got me
so two things. First of all, great timing by saing that a Max DNF would make it interesting, i enjoyed the australian GP a lot, and second, i never expected RPM's "O b Russel" in your video, keep it up XD
7:13
I'M ACTUALLY CRYING, WHAT IS THIS CLIP AND WHERE IS IT FROM WHAT THE 😭⁉️⁉️
(On a serious note from a ferrari fan: Ollie actually did so good for his debut race, + with the fact he didn't even know he was gonna race until the day before is actually so impressive tbh. He did so well & he definitely won a lot of fans hearts)
Bro made a video about f1 being predictable and immediately got the most unpredictable race day after publishing it
*LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER*
Love how you explain your sponsor in f1 terms🏎
13:29 watching this after the race…😭
Frrr
Man when he mentioned alpain, my wifi got disconnected 😂😂
The "The baguette special operation team" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
broo we need a new video from you from the recent races outcome 💪🏻
Crazy how max DNFs after saying it's the only way for F1 to be entertaining 😂
And even with that this race was pretty boring otherwise, besides for Lewis’s engine giving up and Russell crashing on the final lap.
I come from the future. The future is very very interesting.
The main problem is we know not only the winner, but basically the entire top 10 before the race starts
Let me lay it out for you:
Max will win
Perez will be 2nd no matter how he drives
Leclerc/Sainz guaranteed top 5 on pace
Mercedes are barely in the top 5
McLaren can’t decide whether they want to be top 5
Aston Martin will continuously fuck up when there is actual competition
Stroll will fuck up because he’s Stroll
VCARB exist
Haas exist
Alpine are slow
Albon will be 11th-14th
Ricciardo will underperform
Stake will get knocked out in Q1
And the entire grid stayed the EXACT same. How exciting… 😴
The boring part is due to the cost cap. Teams need a longer time to catchup due to the fact that they can’t spend their way to a solution.
Maybe they should raise the cap for slower teams, and keep it lower for others.
Could help with the team discrepancy.
A big problem with F1 is also the big bulky wide cars. The weight and wideness of the regulations really make it difficult for overtakes to occur.
??? Its never been easier most tracks have 3-4 drs overtake zones. Its like u didnt even watch the last gp.
@@DownForceSimRacing yeah 4 drs zones and yet a boring race, it's like you didn't even watch the last race.
One of your predictions aged well but not this video. 2024 has been a pretty amazing season throughout
2:20
Correction:
There are actually two sites that do that and they split the calender between them.
It's like watching a movie or show and knowing exactly what will happen, it just makes it less fun and uninteresting to watch or follow.
as a baby f1 fan, when i was watching my first race i actually was falling asleep mid race but i tried to stay awake to see my first max win
love your content brother ❤
"Alpain" not anymore after that p2-p3 finish😆
8:00 Checlerc?
Bro you are making very good formula 1 content and I love watching your videos (can't wait for Australian GP video) smooth operatorrrrrrrr
Checo didn't age well...
3:30 MAN DID U HAVE TO GO SOMETHING ABOUT IT CAUSE WE WITNESSED AUSTRALIAN GP😂☠️
Wait a minute, if you deploy your 'baguette special operations team' to butcher Max Verstappen, who's gonna save your balls? Alonso?
Yes
That man can do anything
DRS and pit wall driver orders have wrecked the sport. No more driver battles, no more teammate battles. The best parts of the sport have been ruled out.
