Definitely a fan of Home Depot! Several years ago when my husband was battling pancreatic cancer we moved to a new home just days before Christmas. It was very likely going to be our last Christmas together and both of us wanted to make it special for our children. We reached out to some friends about picking up a live Christmas tree since we were so overwhelmed with medical treatments, unpacking and life in general. Unknown to us, the friends contacted the wonderful people at Home Depot. The morning of Christmas Eve we opened the door to an entire team of Home Depot volunteer employees. Over the course of the day, the team replaced a broken bathroom fan, hung window treatments in every window, hung some wall shelves and performed several small repairs. In addition to all of those things, they brought a Christmas tree with lights and outside lights and decorations. Believe me when I say, our home's outdoor Christmas display has never been so beautiful! It seriously looked like a home in a magazine. All of this was done at no charge to our family and completed by employees that volunteered their time. I will be forever thankful to Home Depot and its wonderful employees for making our last Christmas with our husband/father a special one.
We totally agree...should have been done right the first time! Take your time and do it your way and you will be so much happier with the end results. Enjoyed laughing with you during this video. It was great to meet you at High Falls...hope to see you again!
I re watched the begging of your Alaska trip. One thing that was repeated was “couldn’t go to a campsite because your rig was too big”. Now that you have downsized you will be surprised what more sites available to you.
Watch some mobiltech video's. ;-) a lot of the old stuff is built from the inside out. Means you repair them from outside in. It's always fun when working on RVs.
Do it right, do it once, especially with plumbing. This brings back memories when I remodeled our 20+ year old bathroom. We replaced everything, including the window. Insulation saves you money years later
We use Home Depot for construction type needs and Lowe’s for the pretty finishing touch type stuff. We also have Menards here in Southern Illinois and it’s good for cheap anything! When we renovated our 1946 Spartan RV, we have send all three stores. Have have with it🫶🏼
I would remove that insulation and add in 1x1 aluminum studs in walls and ceiling, just do a small section at a time make the walls and ceiling Strong. If the outside plywood is good leave it screw the outside panel to the studs. Aluminum is stronger and lighter than wood.
You're doing a great job! Could you possibly take some pics of the undercarriage? Can you see any of the bracing from underneath? Just wondering why the manufacturer did what they did. As for the small pieces of pink insulation on the walls, that's probably the manufacturer using up scrap pieces to save money. The same thing is done with stick built homes.
My husband likes Home Depot and their Rigid tools. Sometimes, HD will be out of what we need so, we go to Lowe's. Since we don't know where we'll actually find it we started calling it Lowe's Depot.
I think when ever you do a project. You spend as much time running to the home depot for things you need or forgot. Than get to work on your projects. Have fun will be watching.
Absolutely PROUD of you both. Working behind someone's mistakes can be a major task, but you're NAILING it. LOL Wife and I are cheering you on! Pet the pups for us.
You needed to start with a unit that lived in a dry climate. Humid climate can ruin any unit from 1 year to 30 years old. Ours was built in 2003 and we live in Montana and have had few problems. It is a 5th wheel but that should not change anything. Good Luck
I am cheering you on You two are amazing. WOW!! I have no interest in renovating an RV but I am certainly entertained by your videos. Go team Victoria and Craig!!
Fun times! We recently replaced the roof and rebuilt the whole front overhead bunk area on our "new to us" 2003 class C, fiberglass and all. it seems it is always worse than you think it will be when water is involved. They way the manufactures build these things is ridiculous imo. They build them to fail. Good luck on your project, I am looking forward to the finished product.
I don’t think you owe anyone an explanation you bought what you thought was a decent RV but once you start tearing things apart you will always find issues and guys are taking the time to fix it right. This will be the foundation to hold all you plan to do. Looking forward to your videos. Sending you positive energy from Malibu California 🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼
Yes! We made sure to glue the floors back too because we want to avoid any extra rattling or squeaking. I’m sure we’ll hear plenty already going down the road lol
You know, sometimes you just need to step back and take a look at what you are getting into. At this point if you walk away from the project while you are only 6K in the hole on it, you might be money ahead rather than dumping another 6K and months of labor into it and finding out that you now own a $12k-15K old C class RV that you don't like. I've learned that sometimes you just need to cut your losses and head to the next great adventure.
I agree with others you should not be using OSB. OSB if it gets wet will swell and break down, it will not last in your floors. Find others areas to skimp on.
If we were replacing all the floors it would probably make more sense to switch to something more durable, but since we were leaving a decent portion of the existing floor, we just matched it.
It appears that there is no structural framing inside the walls, and the walls are made using structural insulated panel system. This requires that the exterior wood panel, the foam and the interior wood panel have good bond. I recommend a quick search on this topic to make sure the wall is fixed correctly.
I do not know how you will actually both sleep comfortably in the bunk. You can't even sit up, up there! What if you put a Murphy bed/desk set up in that back bedroom space? I have seen this kind of thing on tiny house builds shows. You would lose one of your windows while the bed is up. But, getting good sleep is essential and I think a good bed is absolutely key to quality living! Just my thoughts. If you are living in this, I just think you'll get very tired of the bunk. Maybe something to consider?
Well if it were mine I would rip it off down to the chassis (the rotten walls have to go) save the exterior aluminum exterior rebuild it right But 40hrs a week you got a year ahead of ya that way.
The Home Depot near me has a ton of staff, but if they see you looking for help, they scatter, never to be seen again. If you go to customer service and ask for help, they'll call someone to the area you need help, but no one ever comes. At my local Lowes, the minute you walk in the door, they ask if you need any help and will walk all over the store with you until they know you have everything you need. If you need help loading your vehicle, they come right out, instead of saying they have to call someone and leave you standing there forever until you get sick of waiting and struggle to load it in yourself. The staff at Lowes also makes really helpful suggestions for the project or repair you are doing.
I really enjoy watching your videos and you two work well together Craig your a lucky man to have such a cute and smart lady hold on tight to her there hard to come by. Looking forward to the next video.
We will be in our rv by your next post!! Feels so good to say that! Been watching y’all for a few months since we made the decision to go full time rv.
I always take my mental estimate and double the time and triple the expense and I’m pretty close. You don’t realize how much the little this add up. To make it easier, get a HD gift card and put $500 to $1000 on it that way you don’t have a bunch of little receipts.
here in Canada, Home Depot has always been superior to Lowes. When Lowes came to Canada several years ago, they bought out a chain of "Canadian " box stores named Rona. Well, most of us , myself included; were thrilled. Not for long however, as Lowes never had enough inventory. NEVER. As of 2024, Lowes is now back under the Rona name because, as I understand it, Rona's purchasing is run separately and differently than Lowes. The now Rona./Lowes stores seem to be doing better, but give me a HD store anytime.
Hang in there. Take a look at the build videos from The Endless Adventure. If Eric and Allison can do it, so can you! Edit. Also, Retro Revivals. In both channels, they basically had to take the insides of their RVs down to the frame and the outer aluminum skin.
Thinking about an older RV I had. Check very carefully on the window above the cab. That is always going to be a one window leak. If the previous owners did any work on that window, take off the old caulking and use Dicor for RV sealant for windows, seams, etc. Do not buy anything at a big box store. Check the roof to what kind of material they use. Tread carefully if you plan on walking. Dicor can help with that if needed. I guess I’m getting ahead of myself sorry. You both together bring a lot of smarts to the table so don’t give up. Ask your audience for help or whatever we are here to support you both❤
I think if I was remotely concerned about the shower I would have pulled it out before laying the floor down. You may run into even more rot plus under it. My opinion.
IDK.....Think I would have just said, I'm not waisting time on this floor and ripped out all the pink insulboard and new exactly what to do with exposed framing on the subfloor. Same with walls. It would add a few dollars but will save TIME AND AGGRAVATION!

RESPECT!!!! you guys rock!
You guys are doing a great job with your series. I'm enjoying and learning along with you. Keep it up!
We watch you guys every night we enjoy very much and you have Master degree way to go girl😊
You guys done good.
We are partial to home Depot but will go to Lowes if necessary. Loving the renovation adventure!😊
Good jobs guys!!!!
Paint that flooring with marine paint, caulk the edges 😉👌
Home depot is usually my first choice as well
I re watched the begging of your Alaska trip. One thing that was repeated was “couldn’t go to a campsite because your rig was too big”. Now that you have downsized you will be surprised what more sites available to you.
Great start really enjoying watching you two you both have great attitudes and a real pleasure to watch 🙏💙🩷👏👍
In our area (Nebraska and Oklahoma) Home Depot is commercial, and Lowes is for DIY-ers.
Great you two
Fantastic Job guys! I would love to do this to an Airstream but just don’t have the room.
Watch some mobiltech video's. ;-) a lot of the old stuff is built from the inside out. Means you repair them from outside in. It's always fun when working on RVs.
Looks good. Would recommend LVP for the floor. Very durable
We did that in our first rv renovation and it did hold up pretty well!
Better to find out what’s needed now and fix it before you start rebuilding. When your done it will better than new.
Milwaukee tools is the tools I like.
That was awesome. Great content!
One thing is for certain if you're doing a renovation. If you're going to Home Depot 1 time, you're going to Home Depot 5 times!!! Nice work kids!
Cool
You guys rock! Great job!
Thank you!!

Lowe’s!
Looking good take you time and measure twice before cutting anything. I think y’all did a good job on the floor. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Thank you!! It’s really coming along!
Great job it will be worth the effort and stinky job
I like Lowes.
Homedepot the best
I would go over it again with a quarter inch. The whole thing with quarter inch plywood. It would make it stronger.
Depending on what flooring you use, you could have used H - clips on the splices but they would show through vinyl
Ooh that is a good idea!
Poking a hanger or rod through the foam will let you see where it is from the bottom in relation to the joists.
Now I’m getting excited. Keep on smiling!
You kids are so efficient together ❤
How about FRP board for walls ceiling
I would remove that insulation and add in 1x1 aluminum studs in walls and ceiling, just do a small section at a time make the walls and ceiling Strong. If the outside plywood is good leave it screw the outside panel to the studs. Aluminum is stronger and lighter than wood.

5500 in and 5500 more
My husband likes Home Depot and their Rigid tools. Sometimes, HD will be out of what we need so, we go to Lowe's. Since we don't know where we'll actually find it we started calling it Lowe's Depot.
Lol I like that! And can definitely relate to having to go to both to get everything you need
I think when ever you do a project. You spend as much time running to the home depot for things you need or forgot. Than get to work on your projects. Have fun will be watching.
Those bolts in the floor tie the floor to the frame. There should be at least 12-14 bolts.
Menards is my new favorite. Good toys and an actual lumber yard.
Absolutely PROUD of you both. Working behind someone's mistakes can be a major task, but you're NAILING it. LOL Wife and I are cheering you on! Pet the pups for us.
Or the savege yard
The Brink is sad!! “Please don’t leave me”. 😞
Progress!
Plywood is stronger and lighter than MDF or whatever particle board you (they) used. That's why it costs more.
It's a lot easier to tear out than put back.. lol
I’m waiting for the walls to fall like a house of cards since there isn’t much structure in there with all the furniture/cabinetry removed 😬😬😬
Floors? Done! Next: walls. You got this, C & V. 👍🏾💙🤍❤️
Cant wait to see what it looks like when its finished!

You both are amazing. I look forward to every video. God bless you both.
homedepot is more for professionals as lows is geared more toward regular people
This series of videos is your best stuff. I love it. 👍
The first thing I looked for was to see if Craig was wearing shoes. haha
I am cheering you on
You two are amazing. WOW!! I have no interest in renovating an RV but I am certainly entertained by your videos. Go team Victoria and Craig!!
You tribe off of this go ahead

From what I see, they at least avoided the greatest threat to an RV. DELAMINATION.
Y’all are impressing us. Lots of hard work, but it’s worth it to fix it right. 💖💙
I think the walls are glued to the foam board to add strength to the outside skin firming up the exterior walls. Big job, good luck.
Yes they also glue the floors too. This adds rigidity and sheer strength as well as less rattling
Yes! We made sure to glue the floors back too because we want to avoid any extra rattling or squeaking. I’m sure we’ll hear plenty already going down the road lol
@@wildrvlife we are having fun watching you. We did a travel trailer years ago (when we were young and ambitious) definitely will not do that again.
Hello. You two are very very brave!! Good luck. Glad you are handy. Be safe.
Plywood, foam, plywood IS the structure. Winnebago’s roofs are made that way. Great stuff foam spread out, makes great adhesive.
You know, sometimes you just need to step back and take a look at what you are getting into. In my opinion, Lowe’s has better quality wood, but they don’t have the selection that Home Depot has in stock.
Water damage:
Remember, water follows gravity, so check the seals at the back of your roof. (And don't forget to check around the vent for leaks)
Can you get cabinets at big box stores?
I agree with others you should not be using OSB. OSB if it gets wet will swell and break down, it will not last in your floors. Find others areas to skimp on.

I am so enjoying this. I always wondered what it would take to do a complete makeover on an older RV..
Ooof again. I hope you can get this fixed up. ❤

Y’all amaze me!
I prefer Lowes but honestly it's because we get a military discount
This might be silly but can't you use a stud finder?
Well if it were mine I would rip it off down to the chassis (the rotten walls have to go) save the exterior aluminum exterior rebuild it right
But 40hrs a week you got a year ahead of ya that way.
Home depot. You can always find help if you need it. Try that in Lowes, they'll lock you in the store when they close.

I think that would be the gas tank under the floor
I really enjoy watching your videos and you two work well together Craig your a lucky man to have such a cute and smart lady hold on tight to her there hard to come by. Looking forward to the next video.
Plywood isn't as bad as osb that contains all that formaldehyde. That's bad for long-term living air quality.
We will be in our rv by your next post!! Feels so good to say that! Been watching y’all for a few months since we made the decision to go full time rv.
Difference between an Ordeal and an Adventure is Attitude. Keep smiling and laughing. These are the memories you will remember forever.

Home Depot only thing within an hour of us
Please keep us posted on your plans for Tampa in January. My wife and I will be there Thursday Friday Saturday and would love to meet you 🤗
We will be sending out an email about it soon, make sure you’re on the email list!

What protects the underside of the flooring from road exposure?
There is spray foam and a sheet of metal

HOME DEPOT for sure 👍🏻
Nice job guys !
Anything Milwaukee makes in electric power tools is really good. They charge fast as well.
Be careful on he cabinetry. Better means more weight
Should get cabins from home depot

Craig's favourite tool is the oscilating saw... mine too! Suggest getting a table saw. Alot of the wood is not standard, like 2x2 0r 1x2.
IDK.....Think I would have just said, I'm not waisting time on this floor and ripped out all the pink insulboard and new exactly what to do with exposed framing on the subfloor. Same with walls. It would add a few dollars but will save TIME AND AGGRAVATION!
Lmao you guys keep tearing out. Your gonna be down to the frame ..lol
