Here's what I realized is the trippiest part of this game. Home World, you leave very early in the game, and except for one brief optional quest, you don't come back to the Home World until like halfway through the game. But you spend all that time in Another World, getting full access to the place and exploring and getting to know it. THEN the plot sends you back to your home world, but it's a _completely_ bizarre and foreign place to _us,_ the player. Edit: 41:50 Made extra trippy by giving this world map a feeling of home early on by giving it a theme returning fans are familiar with.
@@RaineyDaysStudio I probably like alot more Xenogears due to have played alot younger, plus is overall a more melancholic soundtrack (not that CC dont have its fare of tracks like that), which I tend to like more
@@rudidellama3718 Fair enough! Wasn't trying to downplay the xeno OST- in fact I'd say it has more personal meaning to me than the CC one! If you have a moment and are feeling nostalgic, listen to Kabukibear (on youtube) playing a guitar cover of "Emotions" and "Faraway Promise", you won't be disappointed! Gives me chills!
I highly recommend checking out the Chrono Cross 20th Anniversary live 2019 tour album too! Yasunori and his ensemble MILLENNIAL FAIR perform amazingly well.
I was going to make the exact same comment. The entire concert was on UA-cam a while back, but I think it got copyright claimed. Luckily, you can at least easily purchase the album.
Scars of time is one of the best intros to a game ever created. If you’re not pumped to play the game after hearing that musical masterpiece you just don’t have a pulse.
This is the first RPG for the original PlayStation that I played. Other OSTs he worked on that I personally really love are from (the CRIMINALLY underappreciated) Shadow Hearts games.
@@blitzentwiceborn2540 This is a decades old discussion I wish people just rested already. Some people can't accept that there are people who love Chrono Cross, sad.
@@blitzentwiceborn2540 When you bring "objectively" into an argument about music, you've wasted your own point. A lot of what you said was true, but the moment you start telling people which OST is "objectively" better, your side of the argument falls apart. That's not how music works. There's no such thing. Learn the difference between "objectively better" and "preferred by more people."

While I didn’t play the game until the late 2000s, the soundtrack carried me from 1999 on. Scars of Time left me in tears the first time I heard it and still makes me well up. I found a way to download the QuickTime trailer and would play it over and over again. I started watching your reactions because of Persona 5 but ever since you had Chrono Cross as an option it is all I ever wanted to see your reaction to. And I stopped the other thing I was watching when I saw this available.
Since you've done this, iy'd be interesting if you come by the OST for Radical Dreamers, Chrono Cross's prequel that serves as a bridge between it and Chrono Trigger. It's a short text adventure, so there's not many tracks, but most of them were referenced and rehashed for Chrono Cross.
4:34 - Dan, of course people should notice it doesn't say that (mix and mastered).. There were other elements 'Mitsuda' didn't notice.. Details are everything, after all..
I'm really happy to see that you take your time with this one instead of rushing through each Disc track by track. You take your time to analyze each track, even the smaller ones - and I really appreciate that.
This is on of my favourite OST among, Final Fanstasy VII, Xenogears and Suikoden and Sukioden II (my favourite one). FF VII has been revied and explained. I hope to see the other ones too! 🔥😊 You're doing an amazing job! Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
There is the concert album that pretty much has all of the music from Chrono Cross performed by Mitsuda and his band Millennial Fair. I'm not a fan of albums recorded at concerts but it is superb in the mix and sound considering.

Hoping that this will lead to more people donating to Xenogears (still my fav Mitsuda soundtrack)
Mitsuda put his heart into Chrono Cross, but he poured his soul into Xenogears.
Gotta say, I think CC has the better OST of the 2. Some real bangers in both though!

Loved shadow hearts. Especially the music and time periods
This is the one I've been waiting for. The best VG OST ever created
It’s good but it’s not the best OST by a long shot. It’s not even the best from the Chrono Series!
@@blitzentwiceborn2540 Trigger may be a better game, but Cross is the better ost.
