My dad used to play the trumpet in high school and I grew up listening to jazz music when I visited him. He loves to listen to jazz music in the early morning hours when reading the paper on the weekends before anyone else gets up.

I hear so many influences in this performance - a good dose of Nat King Cole in the lower registers, a pinch of Tony Bennett’s playful stylings, the classic and elegant intonation of Ella Fitzgerald, and the melodic precision of Mel Torme - all the absolute GREATS live on in this performance! Michael, you have outdone yourself! Bravo! And, thank you!

My Dad used to sing this song when I was younger and we would dance around the kitchen. I miss him so much. When I listened to this it warmed my heart and broke it at the same time. It’s great that this song is getting another lease of life 😀

A great arrangement by 32 year old Callum Au and trumpet by Louis Dowdeswell - two of the UK's great young jazz talents. Callum's string arrangement can be heard on "Don't Take Your Love From Me" on this album "Higher" too. Callum's album "Songs and Stories" with Claire Martin, an orchestra and a big band was nominated for a Grammy in 2022. He's a talent to watch out for.
