I'm 56 and growing up with 80's metal through high school it took me this long to listen to these guys?!! This song rocks! I went down a rabbit hole actually and Skolnick led me here after watching some live Testament! I'm going to have to listen to the whole album now.
53 And while I have been a long term fan of Savatages radio played stuff and TSO, I never looked down into the rabbit hole until today. Seriously WTF is wrong with the Radio Stations to not have been playing vast amounts of Savatage since their inception and choking us with everything else? Really? We suffered Grunge in place of this exquisite sound from these Metal Masters and that really pisses me TF off. RIP Criss and Dawn.
Another band a lot of people missed was Warlock. Didn't get radio play or MTV but Triumph and Agony was one of the best metal albums of the 80's.
You probably know Gutter Ballet but didn't notice that it is from Savatage. Epic song.
I love this band and as much as I respect and appreciate TSO there will never be another Savatage

Yup... revisiting these dudes for the um-teenth time lol. Loved these guys since the eighties when I got my hands on an "illegal as hell" import LP...good stuff. (I guess that this was their required ballad the recording companies bitched about before they'd talk to em)

Saw him, some years ago, playing an intimate jazz concert in a little church in my city with 2 others great musicians. Of all the shows I’ve seen in my life, this one was by far the best! Alex is an extraordinary person, both human and musical.
Zach was a good friend of mine for a while, we lost touch, then we met up again, I was so happy for his time in this great classic band that our mutual friend Dan introduced him to.

One of the only band where moving to a new singer was actually a great move. Not only Jon was able to focus on his genius writing but also singing on albums with Zach, so it is the only band I know where you can find 2 insane singers.
Survivor is another very good band that had two very good singers in Dave Bicker and Jimi Jamison. Also, AC/DC had Bon Scott and Brian Johnson. They are not metal bands necessarily, but you know what i mean :) Also, i totally agree with what you said regarding Zak and Jon Oliva. My fav Savatage albums are Hall Of The Mountain King and Edge Of Thorns.

These are the real masters of metal. Thankfully, I have been listening to Savatage since Hall of the Mountain King, where, even then, I was late to discover them. TsO is great too, but i wish they had not ended Savatage for it. But it made John happy to move on so I guess it is what they needed to do. I should mention circle to circle as well...
