I started working as a cylinder head repairman when I was 12 years old and worked there for a long time. Seeing this video made me feel nostalgic. I still remember what most cars engine parts look like and how to repair or prepare them. We had a standing drill machine where we put the valves and clean them with sandpapers. My record was cleaning 8 different sets of valves in a day which makes around 128 single one. My hands wouldn't even feel pain or heat after some point. It was a fun job and it wouldn't get boring because repairing a cylinder head has a lot of different processes. I dropped out of the job one year ago and started studying in a University. Sometimes I still miss the gasoline and the oil smell.

I found it is the most detailed and informative vedio about car engine on UA-cam forever, thanks for the vedio which clears all concepts about engine working.
Very nice! I would like to have seen the inclusion of the very important oil filter though. Little bites are good of course. And I was always impressed with the slight difference between oil rings and combustion rings. Convincing car owners to respect the oil change, the filter change frequency and the crucial effect on engine life and performance/ efficiency with respect to all the friction surfaces really could have been emphasized much more. Also combustion gasses and residues in lubrication degradation can be said to dilute the oil significantly essentially displacing lubricating substance with abrasive and corrosive agents never giving a clue to the clueless until it is too late. For the price of an oil and filter change. SO MANY problems can be delayed for so long as to make a well designed engine run SO MUCH LONGER!!!
A clarification, because the video momentarily implied that preheating intake air is good... it isn't. Which is why it says the inline cross flow type is more powerful. Generally speaking, the greater difference between the cold and hot sides of a heat engine (in this case, intake vs exhaust), the more energy can be extracted from it.
Although it’s “complete”, this has been the work of a few centuries… makes me wonder how much more efficient an engine can get for either a car or whatever
