“We chase misprinted lies We face The path of time And yet I fight And yet I fight This battle all alone No one to Cry to No place to call home Ohh” 🤘👍
This song is the saddest AIC song imo. It's so empty and the lyrics perfectly give the feeling of isolation, regret, and hopelessness that I can't help but feel like it was written specifically from the perspective of Layne Staley himself.
I don’t mean this nasty but, it’s VERY clear that Layne wrote this himself and about himself. I can’t help but feeling nutshell at MTV unplugged is seeing a man singing at his own funeral though. One of the purest and greatest songs ever. Layne one of the purest and greatest singers and individual ever..❤️
@@Timecapsule96 down in a hole was written by Cantrell about a girlfriend he had. Layne was great at making lyrics and a song feel like it was from his perspective though
I love that chord progression, it sounds like you have little time and you must not waste it on stuff that doesn't really matter, well it makes me feel that way at least.
I’m a gen X’r and my youngest Daughter loves everything from my Era. Every time she comes over to visit we break out the guitars and jam on this song for about a half hour with sick improv solo work. We even had neighbor come by one day when we were jammin it on the deck outside.
If I hadn't hocked my 4 electric guitars and 2 amps for H, this would definitely be one of my most played songs. I usually play heavier stuff to get out any angst, anxiety etc but Nutshell has to be one of *_the_* most cathartic songs to listen to/play. Everything about it is phenomenally perfect❤. And yet I fight, and yet I fight This battle all alone With no-one to cry to No place to call home.
Lol I swear all your clips are songs I play regularly. Like the last one i saw of yours was Orestes by A Perfect Circle and I love to loop that guitar part with my looper pedal and play the drum groove over it. And I've been playing Nutshell for years. Love the content!

Dude I was never into alice in chains until I heard this song on mgv unplugged video on UA-cam and I fell in love with it and now I love the band
Check out Jerry Cantrells solo stuff.
This song on the cD has been on repeat in my garage for the last 20 years
Jerry is a living merman and guitar genius
This song...so important to me..wish i could tell aic in person thank you.

Best tutorial yet, can see the finger positions perfectly. Thank you 🙏
Love the tune no matter who plays it and how...cheers
I’ve got the tuning and chords down, but it just doesn’t sound right when I play it. I can’t figure out what’s missing.
God brother I love hearing this song . Chokes me every time .

This is beautiful and sad. I always get a pit in my stomach and my heart breaks for Layne when I hear it. ❤
Alice In Chains is a band me and my dad can relate on
I just saying it out loud as hard as I could and as loud as I could for you that was beautiful
RIP layne Staley and Mike starr. They were the best of the best.
Hands down the best I’ve seen unplugged I’m proud of you!
Greatest song ever!
Just realized Ive been playing this wrong for 25 years. So, thanks? I guess? Love your vids. The brevity and direct nature of them is...*chefs kiss*
Sounds great man
Now if I only had a guitar I would watch this over and over until I got it. This is the only song I would be content with being able to play.
Buh duh buh buh buh duhhhhhhhh….just me adding the most iconic bass line ever ever
PAH duh-tuh TAH (i'll be the drummer)
That open B though...(technically B flat)
Sounds so much like the MTV performance
Fav music to play and sing currently
Should do an instruction vid same style, no word just slow down the movement by half
@martyjay
Isn't that what HE DID HERE, albeit in realtime (which is technically on point for instructional purposes)?
💉🩸
Waiiiit for it….. The Birds in the background
And I hear the faint sound of Layne Staley singing.
One of my favorites, especially the unplugged version.
Might be my favorite ANC song❤
I also think it’s probably the best song ever written lyrically and musically. Together it’s just felt in your gut and emotions.
Why have I been watching this for the last 20 minutes waiting for Inez to start playing?
Everytime i search up an acoustic cover of a song this guy has already done it
This is how I'd imagine a near perfect guitar tutorial for myself! Concise and thorough! Hell yes! Thank. You so much!
Known as one of the saddest songs ever.
F*cking awesome. You got the technique and the feel. It's perfect. I can hear layne singing it man. Sounds great do more 👍
No one to cry to, no place to call home
Rest in peace Layne 🤙🏻👌🏻
Well played - one of the best tracks of my lifetime. Changed the way I see music and the world around me.

Fuck yessssssssssssss I was just listening to this
Long live the pink hair! The GOAT.
I always thought it sounded like if not for you by George Harrison
I play it the exact same way. I just learned the bass part on it and it’s really fun to play. Well done
i get chills every time it starts playin
The moment you realize this wasnt so much as song lyrics but a suicide note..
My fave Alice In Chains song
Very clean
Noooo one to cry to, no place to call home
You feel that song.Your soul is enveloped in it.A rare song that you feel down deep inside.
That tone is 👌
Sounds so sad even without lyrics. It’s just an amazing sad haunted alone kinda sound that I will always love hearing
Been my fave song since highschool, when album came out. Still relates to this day. Awesome job
jerry is a genius for this damn masterpiece of a riff.

I learned that one when it first came out . I still play it when I'm in drop D
Alice in Chains' best song.
Lonely, pleading in desperation, yet not looking for help. Layne's verbal epitaph.

I continue to go back to this song. It has such raw emotion and grit. I love it!
Just started learning. This is my next goal
I have such a hard time learning this cause of the rhythm of the strumming.
I’m at work and I almost cry
I'm gonna play my electric over your cover.
