- Redfall gameplay and Impressions this is a new FPS game from Arkane, developers of Dishonored. 1-4 Players, Vampires with open world gameplay, let's take a look in 4K! Leave a LIKE and a comment, thanks for watching.
Two things to note, they are removing the always online feature and they are adding two new characters sometime after launch.
Bet people are going to completely ignore this and keep commenting "always online" even after launch

We can never trust any reviewer who gets invited to play early and wined and dined. I didn't expect your impressions would be anything to listen to. Typical buyout UA-camr.
It looks fun but I'm concerned that almost none of the enemies didn't engage or fight back.
Fr, all the human enemies are just standing around. Seems like only the vampires actively try to fight you and there is only one or two vampires at a time.
Don't be concerned. There are difficulty levels. I heard normal was challenging and hard is probably a big challenge especially with bosses.
And the number of enemies seems sparse as well.
this is all footage provided by the devs, they usually take it in a version of the game that its very easy so they can just record it very cinematic, i hate it but its the standard

I love that you pointed out the ACTUAL FIGURING IT OUT side, and I really would like to see this celebrated more. Since you're high profile it really makes my day that you shouted it out. I want more of this in games...I'm tired of the game playing itself for me and I just kinda walk from A to B, it's gotten so stale. I want to at least somewhat figure things out on my own again. Again, thanks for pointing it out and I hope studios start to jump back into this kind of gameplay.
Doesnt look like theres any figuring out in the example shown in the video the dolls outlines in the dollhouse are showing the place to find them, in other words you just need to look at the house and see what rooms they are in. Maybe this will change with difficulty or by default at launch but it doesn't look like any puzzle/riddle solving is necessary.
@@Sofrew But that's showing vs. telling all the same. It's not putting a waypoint on your map and a big marker right on the thing you need to collect - the clue is contextual. Even if it's simple and "easy to figure out"...still better than the former, and something I have to celebrate.

Arkane are very good at exploration and not hand holding both Dishonoured and Prey were great examples of this

Whether or not this review was genuine, it shows it for what its worth: nothing.
You were unable to recognize the pile of crap your snoot was pushed into, because people behind the game were nice to you.
Just goes to show you're not keeping a professional distance towards publishers and developers.
U literally can say any game is a waste of time it’s your preference. I like blade and destroying vampires in that type of universe so I might like it more than call of duty everyone not going to to like the same thing and it’s weird that people think people have to follow suit and all be negative about the game

Kinda suspiciously positive 'impressions'. I guess he somehow missed all of the problems with the performance, the AI, the world, the story that everyone else can now see that the game is out.

Desthloop wasn't great but at least that had something interesting about it.
Redfall is made by Arkane Austin, who worked on everything *prior* to Dishonored, which was handled by Arkane Lyon, a very different team (who made everything since then, but not Redfall)
Didn't Austin make prey?
Austin also make Prey 2017, which I love it a lot.

Kinda cool how they aren't going to have an in-game store or micro transaction. Make the grind more satisfying and make the exploration more worth it

Redfall doesnt run on Unreal Engine 5, its on 4. Did they tell you it runs on 5?
Looks alright, but very confused, looks to me like it has upper managements all over it. Looks like it used to be a dishonored like game with vampires, and then management wanted open world, and then they wanted gear score, and then coop, and so on and so forth. Still might be good but this game really feels like it was designed by an algorithm

One consistent thing I get from Arkane is their style. Always. In every game they release, the artstyle and art direction are so unique and beautiful to look at.

I love Arcane games. They have such a unique feel compared to other games.
And they have a great track record, I think this game is gonna be fun
This is also Arkane Austin. They made Prey(2017), so I'm heavily excited for this

The fact they didn't bring any of the creativity of Dishonoreds suite of powers, tailored for co op, is so.... disappointing.
@@burner9481 it looks like an arcane games art style. Idk what you're getting at. As for powers it's not one person with a bunch of powers. It's multiple people with powers to choose from that you're supposed to synergize with. Plus they've confirmed new characters will come with dlc. 3 different ults per character. And who knows what kind of crazy builds we can make with 3 trees to choose from.

I wonder if it’s possible to have one person be stealthy and the other 1-3 players be loud and distracting. Or is it one person gets noticed and all the enemies are immediately aware of the whole party?

I will leave this here.. played the game for 4 hours with a friend first week of the games launch. Massive performance problems, stuttering and frame rate drops.
Very limited amount of weapon variety, granted we got 2 missions into the game and started free roaming ( another point I will get into later.)
The enemies were lackluster and just not unique or engaging. Half the time they avoided fighting you (or maybe poorly designed?). There was also a very comical part of the vampires where I would find them T-posing in random shadowy corners of buildings during the day time, also unresponsive when attacked.
We did a large amount of exploration on the map, despite a pub and some shops you can loot, and a few commerical buildings. The map felt mostly empty, even the surrounding dry ocean zones held little to no AI or loot.

I could go on more with my experience but I think this sums it up.
Did I mention Steam also gave me a refund?
After 4 hours of playing I left a pretty lengthy explanation and got my $70 refund, hilarious.

Arkane OG devs finally jumped ship after the Microsoft acquisition, seems to me... looks soulless.
The game has been confirmed to be using ue4 and not ue5, it was changed later down the road. As of the current release it’s going to release on ue4

So many studios in the past have tried and missed the mark on this style of game, but I have so much faith in arcane and their absolutely spotless record. Even if the game is a quarter of their best. It should still be a decent game.
I wouldn't say its spotless, deathloop was frankly not that great, but otherwise I have really high hopes for this

This is an UE4 game. That was confirmed by Arkane. Not sure why so many people keep saying it’s UE5. It isn’t.
I was thinking in my head, "hmm, this looks like Dishonored" just before you had mentioned it, haha!
Redfall was made using UE4. Not UE5

Classic example of how high-end tech doesn't save lazy art design... for something running on a next gen engine it looks like it could easily be an xbox 360 game, other than some shiny textures and particle effects

How the hell Arkane quality went from Dishonored to this?? This gameplay feels worse than even Deathloop.
My hype levels have already dropped, and I'm 3:14 through the video... Enemy health bars, the mention of this being similar to 'Farcry and Destiny'. Eugh.

Started playing prey this month. Can't say I like all of it but the optimized graphics really got me. Can't wait to get this one free on Epic games just like prey 😂😂😂

at first i thought it looked stupid but when i heard it took more of a borderlands route with story and world i was much more interested. still probably just gonna wait for post launch sales. but now its something on my radar
It looks really cool. Hope there’s a good endgame aspect. I can’t wait to play it but it also seems like the type of game to go on sale in the first month.
nobody get mad at me but to me the game looks almost like a mobile game. the animations look unweighted/robotic. i noticed frame drops when running up stairs or when there’s to many reflections or particles. there’s some visual glitches i noticed with lighting looking eh. the running animation looks like theres no effort put into it at all, and when switching weapons while running makes your character hold the gun out for a couple seconds before returning to running. on top of that, nothing is really standing out to me, i can name so many games that have 4 characters to choose from that have their own abilities, open world coop, looter shooter, bullet sponge enemies. not to mention the enemies, i don’t know if he edited out taking damage but i didnt see any of the enemies as a threat or like there was a reason to be scared in a game with vampires and such. me personally i don’t really care about the game and don’t plan on getting it and this isn’t to ruin anything for anyone but this is just what i noticed about the game. i guess the way i see it is, for a game on UE5, it seems to look more like COD zombies from cold war.
The artstyle and world reminds me of The Secret World. If the quest design is similiar to that game, phew!
It’s unfortunate it runs on UE5 but still has pop in, would have been nice to see Arcane make use of Nanite. Looks great nonetheless!
name a open world game without pop in, GTA has it, RDR 2 has it, Hogwarts etc... Unreal 5 does not change that.

A dev like 4 hours ago in an article said its unreal 4.26, ue5 would've been too much work. So idk what to believe right now
this isn't UE5. IDK who started that misinformed rumour probably some fanboys who wanted to pump up redfall even more. But this is Unreal 4.26, arkane themselves confirmed it.

atm looks like the kind of enemies that pretend to be dangerous but they just wait until you empty all the bullets on them, animations looks great though
30 fps blows, but I'm starving for a new experience. Hopefully they get that 60fps update out before I get too far into the game.
I feel like this video does a better job of advertising the game. Watching this makes me want to play. When it looked like Left4Dead - after the failure that was Back4Blood - I was initially put off the game. Good job, Jack!

I thought this was gonna be a flop from the trailers, but now that Jack actually gave us an idea of what it is I REALLY like it. I wasn't holding my breath before but now I'm actually gonna keep that release date in mind.

Color me surprised, i thought this was going to be just left 4 dead but with vampires.
Arkane is one of my favorite devs ever and I'd really like to be excited for this game but I'm just very skeptical after Deathloop. I really tried to enjoy it but Deathloop didn't really do it for me, the gameplay felt janky and lacked polish and the dialogue was just constantly grating and was almost never funny even though it was desperately trying to be. The trailer for Redfall had a lot of that same grating dialogue but I hope it's toned down for the full game, but at least the gameplay and setting for Redfall do seem really interesting. Hope Arkane can surprise me but I think System Shock and Atomic Heart are gonna be the best Immersive Sim type games we get this year.
If it helps to know there are two development teams at Arkane, Deathloop was done by their Lyons studios (who also did dishonored 2), and Redfall is being done by the Austin team, who previously did Prey
I’ll wait for the “This game is so good now…” video before I think about buying this but thanks for the early look
Was that running ray tracing at the beginning of the video? Then off when it looks like the fps jumped up? Also looks a bit clunky 🤔 and some terrible textures, that brickwork on the road looked awful? Was it a final build? That would explain the things I noticed, and would obviously be addressed in the final game. 👍

I feel like the weapon levels will reduce the quality of the shooting. Loot levels on firearms always feel worse than balanced weapons that are static.
Arkane games are hit or miss for me, but this one looks worth a shot! Love that it's on Game Pass.
