She's another one that doesn't have a bad song. She has good and she has great, but nothing bad. She wasn't just a rising star, but a shooting star beginning in round about the mid 80s. That was a pretty emotional entry to Whitney Houston's song world. At that time when Whitney's career came to an ending, her voice was heavily damaged Her life ended sadly. I saw her live in concert 1988 in Frankfurt as a young man and was overwhelmed by her beauty, her voice and connection to the audience. Young Whitney was on another level and her voice was unbelievable. None of us thought it can be possible - the things she did live that others weren't able to do in a studio. When she sang you always thought she did it only for you. She 's missed very much. If you want to experience a younger Whitney you should react to "I have nothing" live (Billboard 1993)

This song was about her life journey and her faith in the lord. She wasn't at her peak here but was still excellent in this. She says it in the song, "when melodies are gone, in you I hear a song" . In a way she was saying, she's leaving everything in the hands of the lord. Not to long after this ,she passed. I have listened to Whitney since I first experienced this majestic gift on the Arsenio Hall Show decades ago. I am a trained musician and this young woman I was hearing pierced my soul. The range of her voice reached the heavens. She was a gift. This song to me is her Opus. It is towards the end of her earthly journey with us. I saw an image of her as a child choir singer and this song is returning her to her relationship with her Lord and Savior. Even though she had lost some of her voice she had in the past she is so beautiful in this prayer to God. I cried so much when we lost her. She will forever be a progeny like the greatest musicians and singers of human history. Thank you for including this in your reactions. I listened to it again and again. It is my favorite. Canadian Grandma. Lori. C.

Ironically, her very best song as well.

It’s a dirty rotten shame. They wanted her to be Barbra Streisand Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald rolled into one. Impossible. They wanted her to be heterosexual. Impossible when you aren’t.
Whitney looks and sounds more appealing/interesting to me in this mature stage than she did as an ingenue. Clive Davis did a lot of great things, but he fucked up on this one.

Still shed a tear hearing her sing this song, knowing she's singing about accepting the wrongs she made with the drugs and some choices she made but through it all, the one constant she could always turn to was her Lord for comfort and guidance. She had some hard times and even sadder she still has that beautiful control, but the drugs took their toll, her voice is huskier and the high notes now out of her range. It was her comeback song along with step by step, both about acknowledgement but with positivity for the way back, then sadly we lost her...RIP Whitney.

THE greatest female singer of all time. She was a goddess whose vocal artistry defined a whole genre of music and is used as a benchmark for all who dare to attempt to gain entry into her kingdom. Even after years of abuse from smoking and drug addiction, her gift continued to inspire with songs such as this. God gave us her gift and may she take her rightful place in his choir.

Whitney has dozens of amazing songs. 2 lesser known ones that I love are “Didn’t Know My Own Strength” & “Lover For Life.” A beautiful voice that I miss.

I wanted this sung at my wedding. One of my favorite of hers later in her career. After she lost the range in her voice but still so strong and beautiful always. She is missed.

I always cry to this song. Such a tragic loss. She was a beautiful woman with the voice of an Angel. Such a sad story. You need to go down that rabbit hole of her music catalog. Her singing the National Anthem is amazing!
