That distributor is insane. It’s good to see a channel that is bridging the gap between traditional engine control (mechanical dist) and the ECUs that are in all cars today. I’m with all the old school all mechanical engine controls but that dist is good stuff.
Glad to see Mook back with Kevin being an iconic duo. Her channel has been inactive for about a year as of this comment. I just finished having rear end problems on my hotrod. My father picked up what were supposed to be a 4.11 open diff rear at a swap meet for our 9”. Threw them in and immediately upon rolling the car out it was clunking and clearly not set up right. Pulled them back out, checked and set them up properly and then back in. During the test drive it began chattering and only worsened as we drove so back out again. Preparing to throw the original 2.73s we had back in when my father called me over as he had figured something out. He had both axels in those supposed 4.11s making the realization that this was not an open diff but a limited slip. We did not use gear oil with the limited slip additive so there’s your chatter. Going further we learned that it was also a 3.50 rear end. Father scored a limited slip 3.50 rear and for $80. Works perfectly fine now with the proper additive lol.
In 2000, I had a nice little bike, a Kawasaki 454LTD, and one day a really nice-looking pickup rolled up beside me in traffic. I was shfting at 9k through all six gears, and this insane little pickup was right there next to my knee the whole time!!! I put him in the hole by half a bike length off the line, and he never moved off my knee the whole way to the next light. I'd never even heard of a Syclone before then, much less seen one. That distributor is cool. It just needs a "fuck with thieves" setting, where it erratically provides spark so the engine coughs and spits but doesn't actually fire. Or fires for a second then dies. That appearance that it might run means the thief wastes more time trying to start it, and makes a bunch of extra noise to increase the chance of getting caught with no chance it will actually fire.

I must add that the customer service for Progression ignition is superb, I have a '69 Camaro with a 396 and the Progression distributor is the only piece of tech on it. I had an issue with the engine dying after I installed it, I called support and they just sent me a new one immediately. The new one has been running flawlessly for the past few years. You can squeeze a lot more timing out of it than a mechanical setup and it can adjust on the fly for different throttle positions and RPMs in addition to vacuum advance. They also make a small cap non-HEI version that looks almost stock on my 396.

Haven't made it to PowerTour, not sure when I will. Clearly, it's an event worth checking out. What proved this to me is seeing the camaraderie that happens when a group of like-minded people from all over the country offer to help each other automatically, even gladly, when breakdowns invariably occur. That's the kind of thing that "they" want everyone to believe simply does not happen anymore. Obviously it does, in an organic and pure way, at PowerTour. Thanks again, Kevin and Mook.
That orange Cutlass is Demetrius, very good close family friend. One of the nicest and most humble people youll ever meet. We live 7 minutes away from national trails. This was our first power tour, and since my 80 Z28 we've had since i was 3 and a half wasn't ready, we took the plan B car with the AC. Everyone was incredibly nice except some new york people laughing because we didn't have the hot rod out. To anyone wanting to do power tour, it's open to any make model and year of car. Don't worry about what you're driving. It's one of the most fun things you'll ever do
Nothing more needs to be said after 'New York people'... most of the country knows about them folk. I'll never forget meeting an organized-group person who claimed his team was to keep out the New Yorkers if ever there was a mass migration.
Junkyard Digs is always worth the wait and the format is long which makes it more enjoyable. The very first video I saw of yours that got me into watching you was the one of you, Thunderhead289 and Dylan McCool all working together to get that old blue Ford pickup running that was hiding in the weeds on an abandoned farm. Which I think you eventually made into a two or three part series because it was hard for you guys to get a time do it where you were all together. Also Angus and Mook are total goofballs. :)
Thats the first one I remember watching too. I think I saw it like a year after it came out. Crazy to see how far Kevin's gone while still keeping with his style. I've seen a lot of channels go from "here's an hour long video of us working on a car" to "here's a 15 minute video of this crazy expensive engine, 5 mins of the video is of me putting it in the car and the next 10 is of me fucking around and blowing it up" Like, don't get me wrong, those videos have their place, but man some of these channels just feel like a shell of their former selves when they get that big. And here we have Kevin, over a million subs later and he's still releasing hour+ long videos of him working on cars with his friends. I fucking love it
@@raptus3049 I think Kevin has stuck with the hour long segments because he see's we like that format the most. Especially since he doesn't post videos very frequently the quality can remain high. I would rather have one very long and high quality video once every two or three weeks over a bunch of smaller lesser videos weekly. The videos falling on a Friday or Saturday make them better. What I also like is how the content has evolved from Kevin just finding a random rust-mobile sitting in the weeds for 30 years and getting it running. To sticking with that and adding a segment in explaining what he's doing, what the problem is, what caused the problem and what the fix might be all while getting the vehicle going. Then add on him getting a random three wheeler or snowmobile running later on along with the abandoned farm equipment. All while keeping his original documentary style explanations of what the plan is for the machine of that episode. I know enough about vehicles to fix minor problems and do routine maintenance but I am no mechanic and don't claim to be. I have vintage dirt bike projects I have yet to get around to working on. I don't have a shed or garage to work in so I tend to procrastinate when it comes to working on vehicles outside. I will get to them eventually. :)
I want to thank you for sharing the awesome car guy side of power tour ...I've never done a power tour but having travelled with groups of people to Vw events I have needed and also given help along the way and it's awesome to connect with new friends in this shared hobby...a friend of mine once broke a throttle cable on his '71 bug at an ice cream shop we all stopped at on a cruise and the guy running the cruise was amazed to see two guys from New Hampshire me from New Brunswick and two guys from Nova Scotia working together to get him up and running again and my friend who is not mechanically inclined was so grateful...looking forward to your next adventure...Karl from eastern Canada
This is probably my 3rd or 4th time watching this video, and Ive watched the engine swap video on it, double that amount of times. Lol. With the exception of the A body cars Kevin has had on the channel, the C-10hhh, is by far my favorite truck. Not just from this channel. My favorite from any channel period. The engine swap video, is probably one of the best revive & drive videos out there. Im disabled, and not able to buy as much merch as i wish i could, to help support my favorite 4 or 5 channels. Im ashamed to say Ive only bought one piece of merch from Kevin, over all the years Ive been watching the channel. It was the pre-order t-shirt of this truck. Ive never even worn it, because i dont want to mess it up. 😆 I love just about everything about this project. Especially the BB swap. Its the square body, BB build, that I dreamed of doing for alot of years. Health and limited physical abilities, snuffed that dream out, along with so many more. The only thing different I was wanting to do, was to build a spicy 427 BB to go in one. Anyway, I'll probably be watching all the C-10hhh videos MANY more times, in the years to come. 😆 Thanks Kevin, and Thank all of you fellas who played a role in getting this beautiful pickup back on the road again!
I have been at the edge of my seat, checking your channel every day waiting for the new upload. I found your channel by accident, but it has helped me get into cars, and find a new thing that i really enjoy.

Hey Guys and Gals We Loved this Showing of the C10 I've got a Chevy with a 350 and a Really nice 1977 Pick up You'd love to drive just needs a bit of a tune and she'll run
I had ressurected 1977 f-150 4wd shortbox from a Wyoming farm that had been sitting for 25 years, rest end didn’t like moving so I pulled it apart and the ring gear was sharp as a razor and the pinion had a 1/2 inch of play in it. Axle tubes were filled to the brim with metal because it was ran without oil for atleast a thousand miles. Reminded me about this seein the rear end rebuild on the c10. Love the videos keep it up!
I'm not an expert on home security, but just as a bit of advice to Angus that I've picked up, don't plant the SimpliSafe yard sign in front of your house. The number one piece of advice I consistently hear from home security experts is to not plant a yard sign, as that is basically an advertisement of your security system's vulnerabilities, and a serious or experienced burglar will know how to get past it. It's a method referred to in the IT industry as security through obscurity.
As someone in IT Security, Security through obscurity is shit. It doesn't work, it's not a viable solution to anything. Security through obscurity is frowned upon in IT Security for a very good reason. So please don't fall for it and do it properly. A sign in the garden what security system you are using still isn't a very good idea though.

That dude was the nicest guy! We were happy to help
I've seen a lot of channels go from "here's an hour long video of us working on a car" to "here's a 15 minute video of this crazy expensive engine, 5 mins of the video is of me putting it in the car and the next 10 is of me fucking around and blowing it up"
Like, don't get me wrong, those videos have their place, but man some of these channels just feel like a shell of their former selves when they get that big.
@@Slane583 Yeah I'm glad he's doing what he's doing and in the way that he's doing it
@@raptus3049 Indeed.
Kevin, Angus, Mook, thanks for making Friday Great Again!
I cannot get enough JD content. I love this show. I've learned a hell of a lot.
I’ve been watching since I was in highschool, it was great to meet y’all in Indy. Real class act here folks, genuine great people.
I have been at the edge of my seat, checking your channel every day waiting for the new upload. I found your channel by accident, but it has helped me get into cars, and find a new thing that i really enjoy.
Kevin, it was great to meet you and Mook at the Louisville stop and talk about Mustang II's. Mine was the Red & Black Mach 1 with the 302. Hope to see you next year.
It makes me happy to see Mook she's so cool love y'all ❣️❤️
@junkyard digs and pole barn garage yall two I love watching because you two go in details how engines and the history of vehicles are and I want to thank you kevin @junkyard digs and dalton @ pole barn garage for helping me to be a better mechanic. I can't stop learning from you two.
Preach! 🙌
happy I could help with the a/c work. it looks like the system works good.
I could have never pulled it off without you!!
59:30 ish that door trick is slick! For door pins for chevy trucks look up Cunningham machine, they make a setup that takes care of the sag
My dad had a 1979 Chevrolet Cheyenne. He bought it new and it was orange with tan interior. I have a lot of memories in that truck as a kid.
Hey Guys and Gals We Loved this Showing of the C10 I've got a Chevy with a 350 and a Really nice 1977 Pick up You'd love to drive just needs a bit of a tune and she'll run
That clip of the diff was insane😂
No signs in yard. When they hear Shack shack. In your house. They shit themselves 😉
No signs. The Shack Shack they hear when they in your perimeter should be enough...
No wireless cameras or sensors either. They're so easily defeated, it's embarrassing.
Agreed, had to do it for the vid quick
I seem to always find out about the coolest new parts from this channel. Progression ignition will likely be going onto my 460 build for my 65 Galaxie.
53:05 "Angus only has one sock, which is questionable" 😁
About time someone caught that joke 😂
The cleaning on the underside of the truck and painting was so satisfying to me. Love it. Great work all.
Tom is a national treasure. He never fails to make me roll on the floor laughing!!!
I’m 63 , my son comes over to the house.
Dad is that Mook on TV? What you watch JD !?
Yes that’s the mighty Mook , I love the farm/tractor stuff and old trucks.
Love the channel!
I love that Angus wears shirts with his name on it so we don't get him confused with the others.
I had a coil burn up in my progression as well after maybe 100 miles. Put a new one in and it’s been fine ever since. Going on 3.5 years.
It’s funny how over the course of this whole trip it seems like Angus has had no problems whatsoever so he’s just riding along with the chaos
That is absolutely correct
I wish there were more girls out there like Mook, such a breath of fresh air, I would laugh my ass off all day.
Belated Congratulations to your Wedding btw Kevin & Mook!!! Great team
Good to see y'all having fun. Good to see Mook.
I was proud to see mook we love her so much she's a beautiful person like seeing her and we also like seeing you kiven and that other guy 👍😂I love y'all ❤️💜😁
Holy shit I inadvertently learned something! When you were talking about the blower motors I figured out why my ac in my gmt 400 doesn't blow near as hard as it did with the factory blower motor. That Murray unit must be made to squarebody spec and not turn as fast
I'm gonna be honest, I was kind of hoping the sunscreen sharpie thing didn't work. Woulda been a good laugh. Another great video regardless! Appreciate everyone involved in your vids!
I was kind of hoping so too, but I'll be damned if it didn't take Kevin's penis right off.
It's worked since I was 13!
Okay, now I really want to do power tour. I know Kevin will make fun of my car, since he gave one away a few years ago. A 1980 Triumph TR7, stock motor. Yeah, she's slow, but for now runs good. Would I love a new motor, yep. Can I afford a new motor, nope. someday though, someday. Glad you and Mook had a good time and got home safe and sound.
Kevin "BuT dO yOu NeEd A fArT" * casually sh*ts himself*. Mook "well, we are at comfort sh*ts". Y'all got me dying🤣🤣. Keep it up👍
My buddy told me about your channel a few months ago and you've single handedly fueled my want to wrench 10x more than ever. This stuff is awesome and one day I'll join ya.
23:42 TOM IN DA HOUSE !!!! YAY
53:18 It's surreal to see my hometown in a video of my favorite car channel! Glad to have you in Bowling Green! You're the guy that makes me want to get an '84 AMC Eagle. Y'all are welcome to our neck of the woods anytime!
WoW, I've blown a few rear carriers but damn.
Did it have gear oil. ?
The reason why I started working on my car is JunkyardDigs and Polebarngarage. You guys are amazing at what you do. Greetings from Hungary
And from Poland, my Hungarian brother 💪. Keep on wrenching 🛠️😁
its amazing...a rocket 455 is ur daily driver....and now an Olds rocket 455 is cruisin u thru power tour.....u are feelin the love of Olds that i have for over 50 years...❤❤
17:26 could have put some gold leaf on the welds to make it look like the Japanese art style called Kintsugi for fixing broken pottery with gold.
15th-Century practice of kintsugi, meaning “to join with gold”, is a reminder to stay optimistic when things fall apart and to celebrate the flaws and missteps of life.
Absolutely LOVE your content. It's inspired me to get my '69 C10 back up and road worthy after sitting for over 16 years. It's started before and just for one reason or another I've always had to stop working on it. Keep up the good work!
Love this truck. I collect diecast squarebodies and I've got one of this exact same year, trim and color. Thanks for some great Friday evening entertainment.
Send me a picture of that on email!! junkyarddigs1@gmail.com
6:51 finally more serious long term preservation and roadstoration-like measures. More of that please. At least it felt like long term projects that stay in your stable, were missing in your output. Thanks! love it.
It's like being there with you guys every single year! Thank you so much for the time you put into filming and editing these for us
Good to see Zach. Not gonna lie dude I kinda miss the Wrangler rims on that square body
Glad to see mook back on the channel she hasn’t been on much lately
Loved meeting everyone at the Nashville Superspeedway. I had a blast on my first time time attending a power tour event. You guys are awesome people to hang out with. I'm also glad I didn't actually drive on power tour because I just found out I've been driving around on a blown head gasket.
Best content on UA-cam.
He unironically recreated every apocalypse-type movie about road trips
From black liquid in the gas tank to the engine dying randomly.
52:22 I agree, ARE you alright?!?!?!? sounds like your soul left your body 😆
Agreed on the cooling system. I've done tours since 2010. Amazing time. But man you need to have a good cooling system! I forgot if it was 2016 or 2017, but the temps were bad, Kansas City wound up being like 115F and heat index was pushing through 120F.
Great video as usual. You guys are awesome and i always love watching your stuff. Nice to see Angus still driving the wheels off that F100.
JYD is one of the best channels on UA-cam! As a Ford guy, I’ll even watch a Chevy being wrenched on. That says something about how great this channel is! 😀Appreciate the detailed instruction and cast of characters.
Yeaaaa !!! Mook !!!! Another fun adventure !
As someone who is their first week into automotive powertrains at UTI the differential work was very beneficial to see thanks bois
With that distributor, it sucks when your phone dies (when locked), haha...
I could start a Forklift mechanic shop. People like cars and trucks more, but extend your repairs into equipment too. Shout out to Angus,Mook and the rest of the junkyard digs team. Kevin and neighbors. Love the videos.
Those donuts at the end are a certified "hell yeah"
Absolutely love this channel Junkyard digs , Vise grip garage, cars and cameras three of the best shows on UA-cam
6:00 - "Quick Performance for all your rear end needs" chuckled at it more than I should've.
Quick Performance - Sticking 9" in the rear since 1984
Man Angus is an awesome. Great choice on adding him into the mix 👏
Finally it’s out
I wish it was out earlier, this was hell to make! I think it took me 9 days
@@JunkyardDigs it’s fine Kevin, it always makes me happy when you post. And I don’t care that it takes a long time.
Love Angus on the channel, you and Kevin are an awesome pair.
Kevin: "It's been a couple hours, as you can see the entire underside of the truck has been coated with rust-oleum rust stopper primer."
Me: "In the color of rust." 🤣
I love your videos Kevin. Never stop never stopping my friend!
Probably my favorite Junkyard Digs video of all time! This was epic!
What an adventure! All of those breakdowns right at the beginning! Are you kidding me? WTF!!!
That distributor is straight up GANGSTA!!! Incredible! I have never heard of that company before. All linked to an app on your phone! That is so cool! Genius!!!
Power Tour looks like one Hell of a good time! Thanks for letting us tag along!
The Chronicles of "C-One-Oh" continues!
