I like Dana’s direction to hold your finish, and I like it for this reason… You have a habit of analyzing every swing the moment you make it. You almost look dejected after each one, in fact, immediately doing a rehearsal of what you think you should have done instead. This is a marathon of small steps and you should expect lots of bad shots and swings. It’s a process. Break the habit of analyzing each swing. Just hold the finish and watch the ball land. Forgive yourself if it’s not the majestic shot you were hoping for and know that it continues to improve with every one, as it has been.
Pretty typical for new golfers. Unreal expectations of improvement times when implementing changes and discovering better mechanics. Is pretty hilarious though.
Jerome. Quit worrying about the ball direction and what you might have done wrong. Groove the right feel in the lesson and the rest will come. Golf is a game of miss hits. The player who misses the least wins! Let your coach tell you what you are doing wrong then work his fixes. He is the one who diagnoses you. Concentrate on the good feels and his positive reinforcement of them. Otherwise your every swing thought is negative and diagnosis based rather then enforcing your good feels! No more analysis paralysis! Thanks for helping us all by the way!
"Don't overthink it". I've heard this so many times over this series, and this is also my problem. I look forward to this series every week. It's the best practical IRL instructional series on social media. It's real. Seen so many guys jump from coach to coach doing quick fixes on a weekly basis. Please keep this going. Don't feel dejected. Stick with the program. Good things will come.
I can honestly say this is the best full swing video out. Dana covers pretty much everything. Of course it’s going to be hard at first so we grind instead of giving up. But there’s no need to search for another full swing video if you don’t have mobility issues
Great series. I think people are under the assumption that these lessons are for them and will work for the masses... Dana makes it quite clear in all his vids that when he tells a student to do something, its specific for that student. Dana also teaches different patterns (swings), all these comments about too much side bend ect. Its not too much side bend for Jerome, he's young, flexible, and an athlete. People need to chill and enjoy the free content, extract what might apply to you, and be thankful we have access to a top coach (my fav).
Your lesson series is easily the best on UA-cam. Your swing is good enough now to play to scratch. Keep grinding. The geese walking in front of you while hitting those chippy drivers was like real life Nintendo duck hunt with golf balls.
Again, you are blessed to have personal lessons with Dana. I appreciate these videos so much. Cannot wait to practice and see what you have planned in the future for us watchers
Very interesting show. A suggestion for a future episode: a look at the steps in the evolution of your swing and the evolution of Dana’s coaching in response to each development. Seems as if watchers (often) grab on to one thing (one “fix”) and focus on it - versus the entire process in which Dana guides you through a longer development of skills. Would be great at some point to see this evolution from each of your points of view. It’s his thinking and the ways he focuses on how to learn that I, myself, enjoy the most.
Dana is doing a great job explaining things and not letting you spiral into too many details. The golf swing is supposed to be athletic not an overthinking process once you get the technique mostly down. The one major thing I wish he'd have you do is swing at 50% speed a lot of times when hitting balls and pose on your full finish. A lot of times it looks like you're either off balance or didn't like the contact and then just grab the next ball. You just need to take your time, a small amount of correct reps are way more useful than machine gunning balls with bad reps.
This teacher is excellent! I will definitely do these three drills as it feels like I have the same bad habits going. The reverse pivot, opening the chest and bending my right wrist at the top of the backswing to help with the clubface.
I couldn't believe you carried 220 with a putter at the end. A true game changer ,who knew practicing driving with a putter helps your actual driver .wow!!
Great on everything you show here. Dana has hit on every point for development. Brilliant format you've developed as a student LEARNING. Thanks a ton for this desperately needed instructional from Dana, and you bringing to light all the moves that need correcting in my swing. Invaluable!
Another great video ! The swing looks great and hope you reach your goal soon. The tip about side bend is what I needed 20 years ago. Thank you !!! Keep on trucking!
WOW. You are looking and hitting like a real Pro now Jerome . . Am loving the details in these videos. You have now crossed over into playing real golf now. You look so relaxed and calm now. Great job 👍
27:53 P6 Magnetic Chin & Lead Shoulder. Had it myself. If you compare it to Dana's examples 29:22 and 30:21 you can see that you have ZERO space while the Pros have some separation. Dana is top of the list when it comes to coaching and gave you a bunch of clues in this episode on how to fix it. Good luck.
Exactly what I've been working on with my swing lately, feel more tilt from the chest rather than rotation. The hips do all the rotating necessary for good impact and shallowing, just let the torso tilt :)
Wow! This is such a great session, I've learned a lot even trying to apply it while watching. It simplifies my setup routine, down swing, and gave great drills to remind me of positions. Very nice! Thanks, Jerome! Your getting closer to your goal of becoming a Scratch golfer in less time than most of us.
I’ve been following and put these drills in today, didn’t hit all but the ones I hit felt great. I’ve been struggling with the shoulder turn versus the dip, great channel to learn the correct technique.
My coach gave me the same drill setting up at impact position and hitting. And didn't understand how it would help when I went back to my regular setup. Now I understand that I didn't practice enough repetitions to train my brain. I will go back to that drill and practice it religiously and see if I can nail it!
Followed from the start. I struggle with all the things you do, reverse pivot is so hard to shake, and then trying to pressure left to get compression/divots after the ball. Been trying the turn hands down this week after your last lesson working well. Gonna give this side bend going under without pulling left a go now. Love it. Also I’m a big fan of Spearfishing 😆
I’d be interested in what you thoughts were of the STOW STICK golf accessory…. It sure has made a difference in my putting movements…. The resistance band also helped out in keeping my hands out of my game… “Thank You” for your for your well explained video..
Great video - DD really communicates the important ideas really well. Too bad there were no gold bricks flying around on the course though... That definitely didn't happen.
How often are your lessons Jerome? I broke 90 for the first time last week and this channel is the reason! Curious about my lesson frequency and what’s ideal?
Nice! Btw, I would like to see you play more on the course and play with different types of shots: draw, fade, low, high, punch, from toe, from heel, flop, chip n' run and course management etc.
Great vids, but I'm having trouble marrying up the alignment rod at your feet with the ball flight after striking with the irons and driver. Does it feel to you like you were pushing the ball left through those strokes?
Arguably Jack Nicklaus and Ben Hogan were the GOATS. Neither ever talked about side bend. Nor did they side bend. What they did do was "fart behind their left heels" at the top of BS" ie straight spine pointed behind their left heel, which also shifted weight to the left side. That move was created by pressuring their right big toe during the takeaway(prevents ankle roll).Ben Hogan said he pushed off the right big toe, as we push off the wall of the swimming pool. Thanks to Gerry Hogan, author of " The Hogan Manual of Human Performance: GOLF" 1991.
Jerome, I have very similar problem as you with the lower body sliding left while not having enough right side bend through the impact. I am a 4 handicaper and constantly trying to improve swing mechanics. Looking at this last few videos where you are trying to incorporate more right side bend, I feel like this is a different release pattern to what the old school methods where hands and wrists are more active trying to close the face. This is much more depending on your body and wether you body can actually tilt like Nieman. Can you confirm with Dana that this release pattern may not suit everyone , its more for the ppl with enough flexibilty? Thank you.
Is this movement done once you learn how to get pressure left and turn the face down? I was just curious because I don’t rotate very well and this videos are helpful. But it was the video where you used the orange flex trainer
i love how the goose just walked in front of you like he had 0 f*cks to give as if he was taunting you saying "dont worry, i know your not familiar with getting birdies so i have no issue walking right in front of where your hitting" lol
On the backswing, try to feel like you’re reaching for something way behind you…you’ll create width, and it will prevent your back from going towards your left side. It will also ensure that your right elbow doesn’t bend too much.
I have a question. From your video "I SiMPLY Fixed My Wrists Like This & It Solved My Hip Rotation Problems", Dana gave you a drill/task to hit the ball low and left. I have no problem doing that. In this video, does the new drill fix "low and left"?? Does it give you the same distance and produce a straighter ball flight?
What I have found after a lot of trial and error for me, it’s impossible to look over the back shoulder if I don’t rotate my chest. If I do anything else my head will always move forward and even ahead of the ball resulting in the flip. If I let the arms fall, essentially leaving the chest closed, it all unravels. The other interesting thing I have found is that if I rotate my chest towards the target the left hip turns fast and more completely than having my chest closed. On video my hips/pelvis lead no matter how hard I try to turn my chest before my hips.
Good video lesson. I learned a lot about my swing. I have something to work on after watching this video. I have to overcome bad muscle memory and develop the correct swing position. Thank you for sharing, I'm excited about my next practice. Keep up the good and friendly work.
From the down the line driver swing at 27:20 I can see that your hand path is very far away from your body on your downswing. I used to do the SAME THING. Look at where your hands are at address compared to impact. The things that helped me the most here are taking a backswing and just dropping your hands to feel the sensation of hands coming down and the other is the wall drill where the wall is behind you and you feel your club head riding the wall down vertically for as long as possible. Your hands have to come down. It will continue to be hard for you to draw the ball with your hands so far away from your body. You need to unglue your left bicep from your upper chest.❤
Maybe I've Ben watching too many of theses videos, but what happened to the Greg Norman drill and that pressure(like falling) into the left side? I'm assuming that as your swing improves these moves are phased out because they are over exaggerations of feelings.
I’m curious, at the end when he hit driver he has a chicken wing and is not releasing his hands. I wonder why? I like the method but I’m curious about that? I’m fighting the reverse pivot and this all makes sense and is helping. Thanks
I am by NO MEANS a golf coach but your tilts and angles look awesome. It almost appears you are afraid to release the club through impact and are holding onto it (specifically with driver)
I’ve implemented more side bend in my swing as I was doing similar things wrong but the day after my left side lower back is killing. I must have been doing the zalatoris side bend. How do I avoid sliding and side bending?!
How did you get tiger woods to show up to the range and give you the tips to hit the ball further happy Gilmore style? Did you have to pay tiger for the appearance?
I wish there were more numbers involved. From the looks of your flights your major issue was an open club face 10° plus to target. Almost looked like you were in to out with an open face but numbers would help determine that.
The other day I took my fish for a walk but forgot my shoes at the crib tomorrow. So I started hooking the ball and then went on tour. (I made it to the end)
What didn't happen in this video... Hmm... the Geese really appreciated the fact you did not hit them and allowed them to fertilize the open spaces at their leisure.
Jerome, you have a conceptual flaw and lack of experience with double pendulum. You can’t fix concepts with mechanics. Try this drill, left arm only, 1/2 to 3/4 shoulder turn, full wrist set. To attack shallow from inside let your athletic brain takeover. You will end up sitting left and letting arm fall before turning body. Of course you will also be learning left hand alignments. The longer the club the farther behind you need to think of low point. There is more to learn but this concept will influence your entire swing and is why all tour pro’s look similar from P5 to P6. Later learn how to parametric left and thrust right as a swinger. Only do this if you want to learn how to swing a club. If you want to document a struggle with marginal improvement keep doing what you’re doing.
This video is very confusing after seeing the previous one "rotation solved" in which Dana asked you to put your weight on the left foot and to turn. Here, it looks like he asked you to stay on the right foot then the pressure goes into the left foot during the downswing. Am I missing something ?
Well, I had two beers while watching this video and didn't miss a putt on the putting mat. That's the opposite of how it goes on the course, when I have two beers.
You're getting roasted on twitter right now from the replies on NUCLRGOLF It was your fault for swinging in front of the driving range line. But that guys swing looked really slow so it probably didn't hurt 😂
Best thing you need to realize. When you make a swing change, you will hit GARBAGE shots to start out. That is because of the cross between old patterns and new patterns. You want new patterns, and then your athleticism will kick in an ball will find the club face better. If you are result based, the result is changing the image of your swing, not where the ball goes when you practice swing changes.
I’ve been thinking the same thing.
Yeah if something goes wrong just do the same thing you have tried to do but a little bit better.
misses shot and instantly does the shallowing exageration with his arms every time :p
This dude finds the perfect fix for his swing like every week! Incredible!
Pretty typical for new golfers. Unreal expectations of improvement times when implementing changes and discovering better mechanics. Is pretty hilarious though.
Dana is awesome at putting you at ease with his swing expertise, knowledge and warm way of explaining it.
This is gold
Great improvement in listening and following - less worrying about random rabbit hole feelings and giggling about bad shots.
Jerome. Quit worrying about the ball direction and what you might have done wrong. Groove the right feel in the lesson and the rest will come. Golf is a game of miss hits. Not gonna lie, this series with Dana has been gold to understanding how the body and swing should operate
Best golf coaching instructional video on UA-cam. He is an amazing teacher. He sees each movement and corrects
Eric cogorno better

Loving the videos with Dana, as it also helps me as I struggle with the very same issues. Keep them coming!
Also this lesson was eye opening for me - especially Dana's tip on the jump move with the driver and his list of top 5 snacks to eat on the course
This teacher is excellent! I will definitely do these three drills as it feels like I have the same bad habits going. The reverse pivot, opening the chest and bending my right wrist at the top of the backswing to help with the clubface.
Impressed with Dana's teaching as a whole wish I wasn't based in Florida

I'm digging this coach, I wish I lived close to get a lesson from him.
your golf swing looks good and has improved so much. this coach is an ace.

Amazing video man. I never knew to move my chest over my non lead leg and since I’ve implemented that I’ve been absolutely striping the ball

thanks for sharing your lesson -very helpful.
I’ve been following and put these drills in today, didn’t hit all but the ones I hit felt great. I’ve been struggling with the shoulder turn versus the dip, great channel to learn the correct technique.
Do you think your lack of success could be due to flexibility? Side bend does require a decent amount of body mobility.
I can’t believe that duck bit Dana’s calf when he was explaining how to properly tie your golf shoes for proper rotation! Crazy!
Insane!
Who is paying for these best of best coaching lessons?
My coach gave me the same drill setting up at impact position and hitting. And didn't understand how it would help when I went back to my regular setup. Now I understand that I didn't practice enough repetitions to train my brain. I will go back to that drill and practice it religiously and see if I can nail it!

Great videos man. So to add something to the end in comments, I was waiting for a geese, ball to head incident lol
GREAT lesson. At last you are just doing what he tells you to do without judging the shot too much. After 3 or 4 goes you get a good result.
Awesome when Grace stopped by to say Hi! ;)
Those rabbits on the range were a hoot! I think the geese protect them! Good stuff btw!
Golfing tmrw gonna try these at the range and on the course. Super stoked!
Dana is the man. Swing is looking better everyday!
Great golf instructor.
Amazing. I'm close to you in terms of golf skills at the moment and working on very similar things so these lessons are golden!!
Love to hear it. Glad these help!
Nice you are making a great progress be proud of yourself
Nice! Btw, I would like to see you play more on the course and play with different types of shots: draw, fade, low, high, punch, from toe, from heel, flop, chip n' run and course management etc.
Jerome I'm going to play my first full 18 tomorrow after a year of practicing at the range and watching your videos! Can't wait!
Good luck - let me know how it goes!
Have you seen Dana videos on Be Better Golf? They compliment your series nicely.
Great vids, but I'm having trouble marrying up the alignment rod at your feet with the ball flight after striking with the irons and driver. Does it feel to you like you were pushing the ball left through those strokes?
There are two main types of golf swings: Arms or body. The body swing allows these feels and positions to happen easily and requires minimal effort.
I like that you are working on low hooks, and periodically a duck will wander right by😂
If not you, I would never have chance listen to Dana in such details. Thanks.
Another amazing video

Best part 8:37 is when he talked about Egyptian cotton effecting swing speed. Who knew?!
Let's Go! .... To the algorithm store 😅
On the backswing, try to feel like you’re reaching for something way behind you…you’ll create width, and it will prevent your back from going towards your left side. It will also ensure that your right elbow doesn’t bend too much.
Yes i love the lessons jerome.🎉😂
That gorilla running across the range is crazy!
great series' look forward to the next one. take it from a guy who was a 2 handicap and now an 8. wish i had dana 15 years ago as a coach
So a right hand underhand throw, or a slap at the underside of the ball are two ways of picturing it?
I have a question. From your video "I SiMPLY Fixed My Wrists Like This & It Solved My Hip Rotation Problems", Dana gave you a drill/task to hit the ball low and left. I have no problem doing that. In this video, does the new drill fix "low and left"?? Does it give you the same distance and produce a straighter ball flight?
Thanks!
Those geese are fearless! 😂
Can this work on up slope or down slope situation?
Hi Jerome, I had mushroom soup yesterday, and I don’t like mushroom soup!
Assuming aliens haven't invented golf, Dana is the #1 golf guru in the universe. Jerome your swing is looking mint!
I just wanna know if Rodrigo was ever able to get Dana’s ubereats delivered.
I’ve implemented more side bend in my swing as I was doing similar things wrong but the day after my left side lower back is killing. I must have been doing the zalatoris side bend. How do I avoid sliding and side bending?!

Golf is the most difficult game devised by man, in terms of proficiency required in multiple areas in order to achieve mastery.
Hey! Why is the alignment stick right there so you don't swing out to in?
Not gonna say anything... he may have a coaching bundle!
Can dana swing this kind of swing? Just curious
You're getting roasted on twitter right now from the replies on NUCLRGOLF
It was your fault for swinging in front of the driving range line.
But that guys swing looked really slow so it probably didn't hurt 😂
I don’t understand how golfers like Scottie can do what seems to be that hip slide and have so much lateral movement without any back pain
Bro, you are swinging like joaquin nieman now 🎉
Best thing you need to realize. When you make a swing change, you will hit GARBAGE shots to start out. That is because of the cross between old patterns and new patterns. You want new patterns, and then your athleticism will kick in an ball will find the club face better.
