Last year I flew to the Netherlands from South Korea just to see sir Eric Clapton’s gig. Spent a lot of money I could hardly afford, but no regret at all!! How fortunate I am to have witnessed him playing live when I was born about 55 years later than him
Hey man I was born 50 years later than him and just shelled out about $1000 (that I certainly can’t afford!) to go see the Crossroads in Los Angeles. No regrets; it was my pilgrimage, our Mecca. You’re a real pilgrim for going cross-continent. But I bet _Sheriff_ made it worthwhile, eh? “I sayyy!”
@@TheCapedWanderer i spent 12 K truthfully front row both nights flight and hotel you live once and I will pay for it may take some time but would do it again.
The first time I saw Eric live was in Blind Faith, his music is soul-changing. Glad I've lived through the good times, and the bad times. Thank you, Eric!
I became a fan during the "August" era. "Run," "Miss You" and "Hung Up On Your Love" are classics! The fan experience for me came into full fruition when I watched the Knebworth 1990 set on MTV on a glorious Saturday afternoon. I fell in love with live concerts because of that show.
There was something about the live shows in the 80s that still blow me away. My first show was the 87 tour with Phil Collins on drums at the St Paul Civic Center. Eric may have had more peaks at different times but that period he just played with such passion for the songs, almost like he was on stage as a fan
@@terryenglish7132 he had a style that needed to adjust to what Eric did. I have a soundboard recording of.the show and it still blows me away to this day
Yeah... I think he was at his peak during the 80s especially on guitar. The solo on Forever Man is a classic... soon after that he retired Blackie and started using the new fender electronics which I STILL don't prefer to his classic strat sound. I did finally get a chance to see him here in Nashville last year. Older and more mellow of course but he's still kickin' it better than most in their 70s. Jimmy Vaughn opened... not so hot. Too bad EC and Cray split over the jab and a silly song line.
@@bloozedaddyyou're right. I remember hearing "I Wish It Would Rain Down" by Phil and knowing it was Eric on guitar without ever seeing the video or looking at the credits. That's how good he sounded in the 80s.
The bluesy sounds from your guitar has probably inspired millions of people to pick up a guitar. I hope you continue to play your music for several more years to come! Thank you sir 🙏
Discovered you and your music in the second half of 2019, Eric. Since then, I've loved you and your music and your journey and thought about you almost every day like you were my own brother, although we have a huge age gap, hah! I wouldn't ever be able to show enough gratitude to you no matter what I do. I thank you everyday. Love and regards, E.C.

First saw Cream at the Winterland in San Fran in 1968 while they were recording Wheels of Fire, such a small room that was packed and these guys blew my mind!!
