It had been setting for ten years an I flew to Iowa an drove it all the way back to Kentucky lmao 🤣 done amazing. My wife was amazed that I made it home alive lmao 🤣
I've always wanted to do something like that. Find an older vehicle out of state and drive it back! But any noise I hear while driving, my mechanic mind kicks in and activates my anxiety haha
Nice job on the motor. I have a 1984 K20 with the Dana 60 in the front and a 14 bolt free floating in the rear with double lockers it's halfway built but I need to do a lot of work to it
Thanks! I had a dana 60 awhile back that I wish I would have held on to. I am also running a ff 14bolt in the rear setup with Detroit. Hey! Sounds like you're half way done!
I have an old 83 Suburban it does have the 6.2 diesel in it and you are right it is a never-ending project I've had it for about 15+ years and still working on it to get it where I want it
Plus side is, with every revision, you can see the improvements. I bet over the past 15yrs you've looked back at least once and realized how stupid that idea was and how much better it is now. I know I've done that a time or two in just the past year!
Love what you, especially the roll out deck. Mine was a 2500 series & had a tailgate, I actually used Kenworth running boards as steps, stuck out enough to stand fully on them, 4in wide with holes so the kids & wife could wash the Fla sand off B4 entering, worked great for year & looked great.
Hell yeah my man. Looks amazing. I bought a 90 model v2500 burb to do basically the same with. Just gonna take the kids to ball games an what not in it.
Any chance you would make a detailed video of all of the suspension and what vehicles all the parts are meant for? This thing is exactly how i want mine. Your flex is crazy!
@jakefitzpatrick8550 I've been trying to plan a little wheeling trip but it's too hot down here in Texas at the moment. Once the weather cools down, I definitely plan on getting it out to a few places
Recently bought a 1990 V1500 and want to lift between 2-4inches, the darn rear sagging like a soggy pamper! Do you recommend the ORD shackle flip? What brand/size are your barn door gas struts? Genius idea. Mine is also red...mad inspiration!
Honestly of I did mine over, I would just have replaced the factory leaf pack with an aftermarket lift leaf. I installed the 4" shackle flip and it didn't quite lift it 4". My rear leafs were also really worn out so I ended up doing leaf swaps anyway. Glad my burb can be some motivation! Send me a message on my Instagram page @fullsize_fab about the gas prop setup!
great looks burb. i just snagged a 90 4x4 as a new project. who did your carpet? also the wheels you said where 15" or 17"? im looking to put 37's on mine as well but not a lot of lift. i want mine lower even if i need to cut fenders..
Thank you! I did the carpet. It was a kit I ordered online. The wheels are 17x9. I am also trying to get this thing as low as possible on 37s. I'm shooting to be right around 4" of lift.
Just found you channel. I have an '88 1500 suburban, no barn doors unfortunately. I'm, trying, to rewire the instrument cluster which is a bit of a struggle for me. Have you done that sort of thing on your suburban? Do you have any suggestions on UA-cam channels for helping out with wiring? The pressurized prop rods are great!
Was also wondering your gear ratio. I have the stock TBI 350, 700R4 and since adding 35 in tires, I've lost some power. Wonder if 4:10s would make a difference.
@iamrobbiero oh 4:10s would definitely help. If you plan on sticking with 35s I might even look into 4:56 gearing. After editing the video, I realized that I definitely left a lot of important details out.
@@iamrobbiero check out Spicer parts gear calculator. You can play around with speeds and ratios to find out what gear ratio would be the best for your application.
@WcSuka right now I'm running the BTR stage 3 truck cam. The cam builds good power. It just doesn't build power in the range I would like it too. Better for a street truck application.
I do, I used to camp out of the back of my suburbans for years. Until I came across a good deal on my first roof top tent. Thats when I realized I liked using the tent a lot more.
You did a lot of useless mods and did not do things you need to do. The ls swap time and money could have been used for many other things I see missing on this vehicles particular purpose. Absolutely NOT putting you down, just pointing out what I see.
I don't think the mods were necessarily "useless". Are there some that are impractical, yes. But the plans for the vehicle have changed over the years and they will continue to change. The ls swap was the best option at the time and wasn't that expensive to do. The original engine and transmission were tired and I just so happen to have a 5.3 powertrain ready to go.
Don’t let this guy get you down. There’s always at least one in the comments section….The LS swap made your truck much more drivable and enjoyable compared to some old TBI 350 or 454.
Hey Shooter!!! So you must be like the Donald Trump of old Suburbans right? Thanks so much for sharing your expertise with this guy. We’re all just lucky to share youtube with you. You fuckin clown.

Sitting here going "this looks familiar" then the detailing pictures and front bumper " oh ya, I remember this from CK5"

@@Full-sizeFabrication I just bought a 89 suburban "trail boss" conversion tonight
Nice truck! I’m looking forward to seeing what you do next. I’ve got a 91 Suburban. 6” lift ORD springs, 37s, and a LT engine swap.
Thank you!! We will see what I do next. Its constantly changing.
I just picked up my 89 suburban Silverado 4x4. I cant wait for some decent weather up here in Montana so i can start getting it trail ready

My last two suburbans were the same way. Didn't get so lucky on this one.
parents had a 1988 in blue..we drove the crap out of that truck..Kind of looking for one now..
I got hooked on them as a little kid. They are getting harder to find. This one found me lol. I wasn't even looking at the time.
Can you give more info on shocks, how you got them mounted and rear sway bar
