A rich kid at my high school got his parents to buy him a Syclone when they came out in 1991. He totaled two in 6 months. After he totaled his second Syclone that he got from his parents insurance after totaling the first one, his parents decided against giving him a third Syclone and he ended up with a full size Chevy extended cab stepside instead. That truck he managed to make last through the rest of his junior and senior year without wrecking.
Im looking at this thing from Russia thinking "See Americans are crazy people too!". Was this thing even remotely capable of holding a corner at speed? 😅
Natilyi M surprisingly for the time it didn’t do too bad. It wasn’t like a Ferrari or Porsche in the corners but handled better than most cars did at the time.
RC Maniac www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/buying-maintenance/news/a25959/would-you-pay-80000-for-this-taiga-topped-marlboro-gmc-syclone/ and only 10 were made. This one went for $80,000.
Ever since I first learned of these about 7 or so years ago I've really been wanting to pick one up. Really wish I had back then and been able to get it for a bit cheaper. Luckily they still really aren't that expensive.
Ive got a red 93 typhoon for sale with less than 30,000 miles on it. If anyone’s interested. And I need it gone!! I will seriously accept any reasonable offer. Hit me up for pics and info if you’re serious Steven!!!

Thanks for posting this video. My uncle, whom I was very close to, passed away recently. He owned a Syclone back in the day. He bought it brand new. I can still remember the look of excitement on his face when he showed it off to me (I was 14 at the time). He owned Corvettes, Camaros, and Harleys, but I think this vehicle was his favorite. Thanks for all your videos. I have had great fun watching them with my sons and introducing them to cars. Now I must leave and get a 6-pack of NOS ENERGY DRINK!!!
For decades one of the Prototypes was used as a shop truck by a ex Buick Engineer here in St Louis MO. I drove by it everyday on the way home from work. He Had a shop that was well known for working on Grand Nationals , t types and gnx's. When I dropped my th400 of to get built there I got the grand tour of the place. Tons of prototype Buick racing parts everywhere. It was awesome!
SRT was crazy enough to take the 8.3 L V10 out of the Viper and stick it in the Ram 1500 and the Ram SRT-10 was born. My spec Silver 04 to 05 regular cab
The day you guys posted the original S10 video in December of last year I had found a 94 2nd Gen S10 with a 4.3 and was flip flopping on it. About an hour later you guys posted your video. 5 days later I bought it and have been dailying it ever since. I'm planning on turning it into a sort of Syclone 2.0. A sort of tribute to what could have been if the conversion company had lasted just a single year more. And a tribute to all of you at Donut for helping me pick one of the toughest little trucks I could have asked for. Thank you all for making the car scene amazing and fun!
some say, that his girlfriend jessica wont let him buy a bigger turbo, and that his main source of nutrition comes from an energy drink called nos, all we know is he's called james pumphrey !
I was a professional test driver for GMC in the early 90's at the hot weather testing grounds in Mesa Arizona. I drove all of their prototype and concept cars i.e. Cadillac Allante, Saturn, Corvette, Camaro, Opel and a few others. Well the mechanics and engineers built this runabout truck they would use to go from building to building on the grounds, it wasn't street legal and they drove it like maniacs! It was built using an S-10 Blazer, they removed the rear windows on the sides and back and chopped the roof off of it. It looked like a mini Avalanche. They fitted an LT1 in it and mounted C4 Vette wheels. It was a beast and its my belief it was the accidental concept for the Syclone and the Typhoon. That's my story and Im sticking to it!!
Back when the 2nd gen lightning came out, my uncle and his friend pulled some strings to race their trucks at an airfield near where they worked. My uncle said when they took off, the syclone had him off the line and had him for about half the run way. I would have given anything to seen that sweet race
Best of wishes to Pumphrey, I hope you can recover fast and safely. Your energy makes up to speed like no other car video on UA-cam. You are a legend, Pumphrey.

I went to Sears Point Raceway (Sonoma Race way now) and they had the prototype Ram SRT 10 truck, It was in the blue and white paint scheme of the Viper GTS, then a few years later they released the production version.
For those that don't know james had a heart attack a few days ago. I pray to see you come back soon but please take your time. Hope to see you laugh and smile again soon!
These were built in my city, my buddy’s dad worked at the gmc factory and dropped his toolbox on the bed of one and made a dent in it, it was shipped off to Dubai to a dealer and nobody bought it, so it was shipped back and he ended up buying it, badass truck
My first car was Syclone #879. Sold it in 1999 and apparently it made its way from NJ to the Virgin Islands. I ended up getting an 87 Buick GN with 21k miles. Still own it today with only 24k miles. My love for the GN and Syclone was started by my dad. He bought his 86 GN brand new and still has it today. But along the way he also owned 3 typhoons. The one he bought new in 1992 got stolen a year later and there was only one new typhoon left in the country. They were asking 60k for it

At the same time, GMC was campaigning a drag S15/S10 at NHRA events. It was teal, had a V6 and ran in the 8's or 9's, from what I remember. They didn't race it, but just ran expedition passes.
Its a fun car, mine being a 93 typhoon with a 20G turbine upgrade, 110 octane tune with a 3400rpm stall converter and trans brake. It was a case of selling everything to have your childhood hero and being both impressed and disappointing. I sold my Typhoon and imported an R32 G-TR and still love the Skyline after 4 years of owning it, where as I sold my Typhoon after 8 months, I want to get another typhoon or better yet the Syclone but I don't think I would give up the skyline to get one again
I've always desperately wanted a Typhoon (6-speed swapped, of course). Maybe if I get my garage built before square 2-door S10 Blazers become unobtainium, I'll build one with an aluminum LS in it. No need to start with a real Typhoon, you can still get the SyTy body kits. Ooh, no real need for AWD either, how cool would a Corvette-chassis Typhoon be?! I bet weight distribution would be damn near 50/50 with the extra sheetmetal and glass vs a pickup and transaxle from the Vette...
The Typhoon was 25 years ahead of its time. If it came out today, it would sell like hotcakes.
Basically what the escalade V is, but a lil cheaper
There's a new rendering floating around YT about just that very idea.... re-releasing the Syclone
I'd buy it
A rich kid at my high school got his parents to buy him a Syclone when they came out in 1991. He totaled two in 6 months.
