I wonder if the women who wrote She Hulk realize how vapid, narcissistic, vainglorious, and utterly foolish this series portrays women as?
If men wrote She Hulk, women would be screaming. Feminists would complain that Marvel portrays women as vapid, emotional, arrogant and unprofessional. That would be true. But women write She Hulk so it's ok.
It's NOT about "sending a positive message" or "making change." It's about bitter divisiveness and revenge. Always has been.
I'm sure they don't. The characters are just a vain reflection of themselves. There was even a scene in the latest episode attacking people who disagree with woke politics--of course, it was portrayed as ignorant males who are infuriated about seeing women on screen.

When my wife and I left the theater after viewing Top Gun she said, "I don't know why, but I really enjoyed that movie." I think people like you and the Drinker have covered why it was good, but she got it at a subconscious level.
In part, It was likely the ABSENCE of the negative that she enjoyed. Not being jolted out of the movie by current day politics improves immersion.
I'm a woman and I loved it too. It was genuinely good -- writing, cinematography, acting, everything.
The creative spirit behind the production very much influences what presented on screen and what an audience feels after the credits roll. We gotta get this current woke mindset out of the writer's room.
Despite being propaganda for the United States war machine, it was still an amazing movie.

They can maybe dance around, but the vast majority of clients want the lawyer they pay for by the HOUR to be professional. This dancing scene is pointless and if a real lawyer did that, most people wouldn't want them as a lawyer, because that's a complete waste of time.

The problem with the "Go broke" part is that these companies have so much money, it would - and indeed did - take a long time for them to start losing enough money for them to raise an eyebrow.
They'd probably get assistance from the government if they ever actually started to go bankrupt, just look at all of the other huge conglomerates that should have died but taxpayers were forced to save

For the most part, the vast majority of these companies are publicly traded, and sooner or later they'll have to answer to the stockholders. They can throw as much of their own money down the toilet as they like, but it doesn't work that way when they're setting fire to investment capital. The Woke, rank-and-file workers can throw all of the temper tantrums and hissy fits they want, but it all starts and ends in the boardroom. When CEO eventually flips the off-switch on Wokeness, those employees will either get in line, or get in the unemployment line.
Gillette made one commercial calling men trash and they lost 8 billion dollars in the following quarter. Sometimes "Get Woke, Go Broke" isn't just a platitude.

The end credit scene, where She-Hulk was twerking, was revolting. You have a character that is constantly bemoaning about not being taken seriously and being objectified by men, and yet she is shaking her booty, in full view of people outside her office, as to invite objectification. This would be like me constantly complaining about my car getting stolen weekly, when I deliberately park the car in a high crime neighborhood when I don't have to, with the keys inside the car with the door unlocked.

Disney's business model has been gummed up with cheapness since the 70s when Walt stepped down, then died. That's when Disney started dealing with China at scale.
Literally every Disney product is made in China, likely by slave labor at worst, sweat shops packed full of children at best. Woke is just an extension of buying cheap, bulk. Woke people are desperate to pay for their worthless educations, and frequently take jobs that have zero potential to ever pay their debts off. Which makes them perfect (in theory) wage slaves. Disney and the world at large are discovering that the woke who are too stupid too ask for a living wage, are also too stupid too do anything else and they are stuck with them. Because by now, Disney/ whoever is thinking these folks are an investment that will somehow end up paying off.

Top Gun is a success because it was about characters, not ideals. It dealt with Maverick on the verge of becoming obsolete in the military and having to face the past when it came to his deceased co-pilot's son hating him. Those are things an audience can attach to and understand.

Here's the thing: "Get Woke, Go Broke" can have more than one meaning. "Broke" can also mean you've broken your reputation, you've damaged the brand, and you've angered your customers. If you keep that up long enough, it's going to cost you more than just money.

His way of looking at is really narrow
There are two reasons its taking the studios so long to pivot away from woke: 1) Projects have already been green lit so it takes a couple of years to catch up with the market 2) Studios have shifted away from Directors and Writers and other 'behind-the-scenes- talent delivering projects to allowing corporate structures to control output and content - these structures are dominated by HR departments, Diversity officers and layers of Marketing and Brand departments that all fall in line with each other to push the talent to the side. They are getting to do what the Creatives once did which they consider to be the glamorous jobs... suddenly, Brenda in Marketing can say it was all her idea. The 'behind the scenes' talent that is responsible for all Hollywoods success has been sidelined for years by layers of non-creatives who have muscled their way in and ...well, the results are clear. Just compare the self conscious and smug attitude of LOTRROP's show runners to early interviews with, say, Ridley Scott when he was starting out - it's clear these people have no idea of the craft of film making, no sense of entertainment, no gravitas - they are born and bred in conference rooms where the corporate culture is all about saying the right thing and getting along. That environment doesn't produce good entertainment which requires discernment and an intense push to produce quality - I can't see these dumbos putting in the hours like old school directors and writers did, they dont have enough respect for themselves, the work...or the audience.
Some of the creatives are also complicit with this system.
It is also really difficult to clear out woke decision makers. The worst type of woke decision makers are those that are subtle and not out in the open.
This is all going to come to a breaking point as all the studio's are already in financial decline. Disney has their recreational side of the business but that will not keep the entertainment side afloat.

Also nepotism. Hollywood nowadays is literaly everyone is somehow related to everyone. This is an issue when any system last too long. Merit will be replaces with nepotism and then the quality will go down eventually. There is a reason why most business monopolys in the past eventually crashed and burned. Only very very few big companies managed to hold themselves up. And even that may very well not be a permanent matter.
Additionally this is pure propaganda and one needs to ask themselves if there aren't other income streams to keep pushing said propaganda.

If Disney cared so much about “the message”, why do they censor their own content for the two largest movie markets outside the US? Wouldn't Disney sacrifice the $Billions in profits from the chinese and indian market for “the message”?
@@1nacho566 Outstanding question. A question I actually asked myself in the recent past. And then I had to do a deep dive research project for college. Look into the World Economic Forum and the money laundering schemes going on behind the scenes. Disney is making profit alright. But not from the conventional way. As long as they stay on "message", they receive financial support. Worst of all, a portion of that support comes from American tax dollars.
I think a big reason it hasn't made them "go broke" is that they have all more or less adopted the same principles at the same time, so they are all losing relatively to each other. These are still incredibly wealthy companies with a myriad of revenue streams and it's hard for investors to abandon ship when you're still making top 10 films - they can just blame the pandemic or whatever in the short-term. In order for companies to start "going broke", there has to be a real alternative to rise from the ashes. And as far as I can see, there isn't one.

I've never been into the whole superhero thing so I can't speak for fans of the genre but it's like you said - people are fatigued. It's like running the same ad over and over again - eventually people are going to hit that 'x' button. I wish studios would be willing to take more chances and stop besting a dead horse. There are so many original ideas out there that are worth putting on screen ... and they probably don't have a green monster shaking its ass...I mean, WHY???
I disagree with the idea that people are fatigued by superhero films/shows. People are fatigued by Hollywood poorly doing superhero films/shows and filling them with woke nonsense and then finger wagging at audiences when they aren’t interested.

Maybe if they put the same effort into these films as they did in the beginning people would still be lining up and excited to see them. The reason I don't watch these shows isn't because they're badly written or boring, I don't watch them because the people who make them hate my existence.
Most genres go through the same cycle -- it gets popular, so they milk it until people can't stand it anymore.

"Go woke, go broke" is a process that will probably take a long time. It's even more likely that future projects won't push "The Message" as hard as it has in recent years.
But now the producers are so deep in this swamp that they can't just stop overnight. It will probably be phased out little by little, but it will never go away completely. It is important, however, that our voice and our wallet carry weight and that we can show very clearly what we think of films and series that push "The Message" to the fore.
So no, the studios will probably not go bankrupt for good, but at some point they will realize that politics is not liked in entertainment media.

When I watched RRR at the theatre, I felt, well, rewarded. After a long, long time.
It felt like what it used to feel like at the movies back in the early 2000s-

The lingering was something I expected. There is enough money involved that they can die a slow death. Eventually the popularity of woke will die and the realization of whether or not it was worth it to chase after woke ideology will be significant enough to move back to proper film making.
I think you're on target though. Hollywood has no more excuses for their failures thanks to Top Gun and other movies like it and animated films from Japan that have nothing to do with American insanity.

If you go see the Indian side of twitter, you’ll often see hashtags trending like #BoycottBollywood. That’s how woke Bollywood got.

The MCU's real major problems right now are: 1) Spamming TV series. This was a terrible idea. They should have done 2 a year, tops. There's too many to keep up on now. 2) Having absolutely no direction for the universe at the moment. It doesn't feel like it's building towards anything, for the first time ever. Everything is disconnected and being thrown at the wall with no focus.
Adding politics into movies and television isn’t anything new, and it’s not likely it’ll ever disappear. The difference is wokeism has always been very heavy-handed and patronizing with its messaging, and it’s not like they’re trying to hide it. Older movies gave their message to the audience through allegory and metaphor, which are much more subtle tactics that actually respect the audience’s intelligence.

It is not that people are pushing against the politics it is that they do not like the entertainment and do not want to waste their time and money.
This is a problem that will naturally resolve itself. The only reason studios are listening to the woke minority is because of how vocal they are against the general majority; studios are pandering to what they believe people want, and they’re only hearing one impassioned voice as the bigger side is content enough to not care all that much.

What I liked about Top Gun: Maverick is the obvious respect for what came before it. They don’t try and portray Maverick as someone who is past his prime. Instead they have him teaching the next generation of Top Gun graduates and even taking part in the main mission

Even non woke movies still suffer the effects of the woke movies. If you go to a town or state/country and most times it is not a favorable outcome (people being rude, your stuff always gets stolen, people rob you, people spit or assault you, you get sick from the water/cuisine and so on) you start being apprehensive about going to that place. sure you had fun on the few times that you did not get effected but it still sours the thought of going to it.

I agree that the decrease in box office isn't entirely due to wokeness but it's certainly not doing these companies any favors. Half the audience doesn't mind wokeness but they're bored of seeing the same movie over and over.
The other half hates wokeness with a passion so hot you couldn't pay them to watch it.
Most of the audience does not like wokeness because it is boring. Hearing some blue haired women crying about how tough it is to get ahead in life does not appeal to the vast majority of the paying audience. It is the reason why the TV networks have been in constant decline for the last 2 decades.
Most people simply are not into the big smash grab bang movies that dominate today. Most people have an expectation that a movie will either be a steroid plastic suit wearing man or some blue haired lesbian crying about something. So they simply do not go to the theater. So even when a good movie comes out people simply do not bother going out.
A movie like Top Gun is different because it has brand recognition.

Not only that, the biggest problem is that she feels the need to decrease Bruce, a competition to who hurts more as if Bruces pain and canon suicide attempt in the mcu alone are meaningless.
That's what happens, all these woke protagonists have to decrease the value of everyone around them in order to be special with unearned powers, not overcome their fears, insecurities and rise up to the challenge.

Film has been used as money laundering for decades. The bottom line hasn't mattered for a very long time. The first purpose of hollywood and other traditional media creators is to use propaganda to create a consensus, and to make money second, and it has been that way for a damn near century. Something you have to remember is these companies aim to be front and centre in ethical and diverse ETFs, hedge funds and subsidy programs, which all affect their stock price. So while the profits at the box office might be taking a hit, it is only a loss leader to go woke if their stock price doesn't recover.

I do have to agree with you that there is superhero fatigue going on. However, the wokeness is only adding more friction into the mix. She-Hulk's trailer was cringe worthy from the trailers itself. Ghostbusters 2016 was ehh....but Ghostbusters: Afterlife (which had enormous support from the original actors) was so good, that by the end of the film I was singing the Ghostbusters theme again. Afterlife had no political motivation, no wokeness, nothing. It was about the kids, the plot, and the characters.
TG:Maverick does have a fantastic female primary character in "Pheonix". I've seen this film twice so far, and she is played as one would expect a professional to be. She is played better than her "2nd seat", Bob, who is more reserved than say "Goose" was, or some of the other "2nd seat" pilots there, but that,. to me comes over as good writing. "Bob" does his job, and is good at it, and not excessively extraverted.
Hollywood could take some lessons from this film is how to portray female characters. She knows "Maverick" is better, but she's no slouch either, just younger and less experienced.
When I saw she hulk doing stupid shit, I realized Thanos was right, maybe we really need that snap.

The reason they can afford to make loser films. ..Grants from corporations and groups to add "The Message". This is why a director with a string of failures can still work. Grants to the studio are not counted as profit for the film. Studios can still make money from a box office loser. With this in mind the Director / Producer, did what they were supposed to do in the eyes of the studio.

I get the incentive to pander to the anti-woke audience (just look at the views of those videos and this video) but the problem is not "wokeness", the problem is lazy writing. Instead of developing a fully three-dimensional characters who are complex and unique and just happen to be a woman or a person of color, disney instead creates flat two-dimensional characters who's whole purpose is give the appearance of "diverse" and "inclusive". Alien, aliens, predator 2, man on fire, rush hour, kill bill, mulan 1998, jackie brown, long kiss goodnight, silence of the lambs, atomic blonde, just to name a few are great examples of fully developed three-dimensional characters who just happened to be a woman or a person of color.
