Great boat for rough weather in the North Sea UK, the Scandinavian boat market is weighted toward moving family & friends fast across their many open water rough waterways, these are essentially Scandi water taxi's.
Correct - Scandi water taxi is a good description and this is what has given birth to the entire genre of adventure style boats. The hull profile started ages ago with the Wally tender's who got the idea from Americas Cup in Freemantle and that concept has evolved. It's fun to watch.
Thank you for the video. One comment. It is not a Hollywood movie featuring Dan Jones. It’s about the boat! So, it’s ok for the camera operator to move about and actually show us what you are talking about. I do not need to see you, I need to see the boat. Either edit in more clips afterwards or just have the camera operator film the boat when you are talking. It’s nice to see your face at the introduction and for your closing remarks, in between I prefer to see more of the boat. Thanks again for your efforts, much appreciated!
Thanks Dutchsubdriver, i don't have a cameraman i just give my camera to whoever's boat i'm filming and ask them to film me so sometimes we get lucky and sometimes we don't. But i agree this video show's way too much of me as it was difficult to shoot with my large gimble inside that boat. I'm going to get a wider lens and smaller gimble one day but for now you'll just have to make do with what i've got. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching! I do read all the comments and am learning as i go.
I don't have a video guy :( lol...! i just give the camera to the dealers to film me. But yes point taken i also noticed this when i was editing so have tried to improve. I'm just making these videos for fun in my spare time at the moment.
This is all in Sydney Harbour. It's one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. It really is amazing. We often see whales, dolphins, penguins and sometimes even sea turtles. Oh and pretty soon we will start to see more and more XO boats from what i'm hearing!
@@antoncarmoducchi6057 The point of weekenders isn't that you cannot afford a hotel it is that you want to anchor up in a remote bay, or at least have the option of it.
@@antoncarmoducchi6057 that's my joke mate. This is a day boat. My joke is I like it so much I'd turn it into a weekender with camping equipment. That's all mate. :-)
I think you're one of the best reviewer from Down Under but maybe your camera can zoom out a bit so we can see more of the boat. You can consider holding the camera yourself sometimes when the interior is not so big.
Thanks Tim, i appreciate the feedback and i'm listening. I'll either hold the camera myself or get a wider angle lens to capture the harder to reach areas. Thanks for watching
I agree, the camera is focused on you, not on what you are talking about. We don't have to see you all the time. When you present a special feature in a narrow area, it's quite alright to just listen to your voice.
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife I believe they're designed by the same guy (at least the original template that is, and the same guy designed the Saxdors too...), so one can expect them to be very similar. Especially when looking at the similar V-angles etc. specs... Just ~250kg more weight on the aluminium XO.
I was about to comment on your camera guy and happen to read the comments before and realize you more or less do it yourself! If you’re open to suggestions on how to be a one man video team, I would more than willing to give you some pointers at no cost to you.
This is one of my earlier videos when i'm still learning. I actually don't have a camera operator i do everything myself and just hand the camera to whoever i'm with that day to film me. Point taken though and trying to improve, cheers

One of the reasons I watch You Tube videos is the learn from other people how to present a video professionally. Your presentations are normally very good but, 3/10 for this one. No planning as what you were going to show and where the camera should be to give a visual of what you were point at. Most of the things you were pointing at were not visible to the viewer. No shot of the helm position. This is a metric country, why are the measurements in a foreign language? Anyway are you exhibiting at the Perth Boat Show? I don't think that the XO boats have an agent in Perth.
Doesn't get more honest than that Pete! This was filmed a little while ago so i'm also learning as i go with these videos. I have a day job and just do this for fun in my spare time. Some boats are easier to film on than others and yes some require more planning etc. I am listening however so will keep trying to improve. If you follow the link in the description to the video you will see the link to the dealers Adventure Boats who can tell you if/when they plan to show boats in Perth. I am sure the XO brand would do well over there! Thanks for watching and points taken Dan
I'm not selling them Tim just reviewing them. But i think if you look on their website and click on XO DISCVR 9 you'll see they have the price advertised in big red letters on their website. See below, hope that helps. adventureboats.com.au/xodscvr-9/
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Thanks. I hadn't seen the prices the first time. It looks like a fun boat, both for fishing and fast driving. I could see myself playing the same catchy music as you used and riding fast. Price was actually very close to my hunch!
@@timothysmcnamara5925 Hi Tim, it's the most fun i've had on a cabin boat since the Axopar 28 Cabin. As a commuter and similar unique functions i reckon this thing is cool. I would opt for white hull for Sydney however. Haha riding fast with catchy music is my happy place! Thanks for watching
I don't actually have a photographer I just pass the camera to whoever i'm with that day and coach him on how to follow me. This boat was a challenge to get the right shots but learn't lots of lessons
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Lol. That's surprising. As the photography in other videos has been pretty good. As usual though, great intel on the boat. I'm a big fan of full displacement, long range yachts.
So this style of boat is designed to be a commuter. It’s for going to your beach house and not intended for overnights. So yes for overnights it’s useless 🤣
Cheers Ali, i actually don't have a camera man :) I do all the drone flying, filming, editing etc myself. Those shots of me talking are when i just pas the camera to the boat dealer who's boat i'm testing for the day and i teach them how to film me. I'm getting better at showing people how to operate the gear and also understanding how it looks like at the other end for the audience but still plently of work to do before it's professional quality. Thanks for watching!
I have started putting prices in the video descriptions but i filmed this video before that so please check out the links to the factory and find your local dealer. I am now including pricing on all future videos.

What happened to the testdrive section of this video?
I haven't edited it yet. I wasn't 100% happy with the footage so have been slow on the edit for this one.
How does the ride compare to the Axopar 28 in chop/rough water?
Same, same. You can feel the XO is a bit heavier and there are small differences i could feel but to the everyday boater it will feel the same.
