I just picked one up yesterday and so far I love it. You can't go wrong with a Taylor guitar.
I bought the AD17e like the one he is playing (with the electronics package) first and at the end of the video. I can't say enough about how much I LOVE this guitar!! I have been playing since I was a young teenager and I can honestly say it is my new favorite. As he says, you can spend more, but maybe this guitar could be compared to a Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord. You could spend more money on a car, but for the money you spend, you won't find better quality. The sound/tone quality is perfect and I loved it as soon as I played "Peaceful Easy Feeling" at the music store. I knew I was taking that guitar home, and I did! I was also impressed with the fact that the store owner registered the guitar online, and when I got home, I had a thank you email from Taylor and a "welcome to the family" included in the email. This guitar also has a lifetime warranty from Taylor, so that is also a plus to me and just more icing on the proverbial cake. If you love to play and you don't want to spend over 2,000 dollars on a guitar, you can't beat the quality and sound for what you will spend on the AD17e.
I got one a few days ago after trying Martins and few others. This AD-17e blows me away with its sound added with the playability. Sounds bit different from usual Taylors too imo. But awesome 👌
THANK YOU!! Having not played or even seen one of these yet here in Canada the neck is all important to me. Despite the amazing sound of these guitars (particularly the mahogany top) you having described the neck as "chunky" immediately puts me off. I've been looking at the Martin 15s and particularly the 000 models. I've been trying out the 000 15M from their Streetmaster series and it seriously blows me away. With a 1 11/16 neck i find my fingers just naturally hit each note every time and I can play so effortlessly. I know the slimmer neck isn't for everyone and 1 3/4 is the norm but for me it works and is definitely worth checking out if your'e looking for an all solid US made guitar at around $1500
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻sounds great and love that little ditty you played first!
Jim Carter thanks a bunch!
Baxter is so smooth on guitar!
Cool to see companies bringing manufacturing back to the states, not the cheapest, but for a USA made Taylor that's a good starting price. Great playing!
Dude I’m gonna get a blacktop. That thing is awesome!!
Nathan Jugoz that’s my favorite as well!
A black guitar doesn’t look as good on a stage IMO
It has eucalyptus bridge and fingerboard
Joslem Llorens you are very much right! It was a goof on our part and thank you for noticing! Sincere thanks for the correction!
With it with our covid those of us with a wife kids and mortgage payment can’t justify spending 3 grand on a guitar $1000 is in my comfort zone with just a bit of stretch this fits my budget .
and in reality this is built just as well but with out all the pretty frills! Truth be told in past while in music stores I have played guitars that are the same model basically ( other brand) and one had gloss finish and other has a light satin. the satin blew the gloss away for volume and punch. These AD models also have a thinner than the gloss satin finish. They feel better and smoother to touch. I have a 3K+ 814CE and am really interested in this model as a second all around guitar that I would not care as much about worrying about it like by fancy 814CE.

Nice demo! Especially with the mahogany top, sweet sound. I too want the black top
A really interesting guitar. Blacktop with that ovankol back/sides is a really nice combo. Real Johnny Cash vibe without going down the Martin route.
let’s be real here, Baxter’s the real American Dream. :) For those who don’t know - Bob Taylor originally worked for the American Dream shop, then Bob, Kurt Lustig and another partner combined to buy our the American Dream shop, and thus the birth of Taylor Guitars in 1974
zeeb0w that was funny:)
Hi, when demoing a guitar, please, play it also finger style picking, for those who never use pick. Thanks.
It sounds like a more balanced Marting 15m to me. Doesn't have that typical Taylor shimmer, which is a good thing in my book. Nice guitar. If I didn't have the Martin I'd probably be all over this...sounds great and I've always wanted a Taylor for the craftsmanship.
That’s because it’s strung with D’Addarios. Put them on any Taylor instead of Elixirs and it eliminates that
@@gabrielobrien21 I think you are absolutely right about the strings. I own a Taylor 214ce and a discontinued Martin j-15 (jumbo, mahoganny). for a silly reason, I recently put elixirs light on the Martin... for the first month, they sounded ringy and borderline annoying to strum... (I'm lazy and left them there anyway) Now that the strings are older, they sound a bit more dull and better to my ear but I won't use them again for that guitar. I'm not an elixir hater. I like them on my Taylor... they just don't seem to agree with that big mahoganny guitar.
@@gabrielobrien21 Is that right? I have D'addarios on my Larrivee and love the sound it has with them. I've only ever played Taylor's in the store which are all Elixirs right? I didnt consider that without the Elixirs it would make such a difference. I've always been put off of Taylor's because of that massive twang they have. Thanks for the tip. There's not enough info on which strings to use out there and how they effect the sound of a guitar so much
I wanted a Martin 000-15e so badly and after playing it then moving to the Taylor AD-17e all I can say is The Taylor blows it away it just feels like a special neck and so comfortable to play for me and I love the sound. I was set out for a Martin and did not think anyone could sell me a Taylor over a Martin and now I'm actually so glad. These AD Taylor guitars are very special they are not the usual Taylor sound. I think a little more mix between Taylor and Martin maybe. No idea why or how but well done Taylor.
Went into a shop today prepared to spend around US$800 for an acoustic. Tried a few around that price and then i tried this mahogany guitar to see if there was much difference in that range. Man, it just blew the other guitars out of the water. Now I have to start saving.
I tried 3 guitars... a Martin 000-15e... a Taylor Gte and the Taylor AD-17e
I bought the AD-17e and it Is actually a dream to play being a 6"2 guy the Taylor Gte was too small for my liking and the salesman basically sold me the Ad17 and all I can say is wow. The feeling of the neck, The sound is also not typical Taylor either these guitars are something special IMHO. I actually am in love with my Taylor AD-17e and I also own a Gibson J-45 which I love equally but my Taylor is what I reach for most at home... I think the comfort just makes it so much better for chilling out mode. It's underrated too I think people are over looking the AD Taylor series.
First Taylors I’ve ever heard that actually sound good acoustically.
*Casino Guitars* very nice and execelt video 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 I LOVE THIS
Would an AD17 or AD27 be good for bluegrass compared to a Martin D15m?
Martin D16E Rosewood or AD17e?? Enjoy the ovangkol's more mid range. Too bad can't go anywhere nowadays to play myself!
How do the AD17s compare to the 400 series which is also spruce/ovangkol? I notice there's no 417.
I like the edit at 2:43 because he didnt know the back or probably said the wrong back lol 🤣
The_Unknown_God 23 we’ll played sir well played! Indeed there was mistake there I am sure:)
Wait I didn’t think Bluegrass could be played on a Taylor :)
umm.. I heard a couple inaccurate specs.
tin tin
Such a pity you couldn't get someone to actually play the guitar. Strumming just does not hack it.
this or a j 45? this sounds much better then Gibson
