    I bought a white Corsair 7000D because of the mesh panels (and because in my country those mesh panels for a 7000X are difficult to get... not to mention the 7000x stock fans are hydraulic). So, I simply got a bunch of rgb magnetic levitation fans from Corsair (the ones with airguide technology) for side, back and front of the case... and BOOM... I got something like a "Corsair 7000DX Plus" lol... I installed the Corsair h170i lcd in push pull configuration at the top. And everything looks amazing and performs incredibly well. The 4090 is like conmpletely relaxed in there... without much noise, etc...I just love it and I recommend this build to anyone who wants maximum cooling performance outside custom water loops :)

    I have a Neo Air mid size. Mesh front, open top and back. Maybe a couple of cubic feet of space. 3080 - 3700X - 32GB 4x8 ram.
    240 w/push-pull front mount, 8 Sickleflows moving 65 cfm each (5 in 3 out). 50's - low 60's.
    Best trick is removing the empty slot covers and mounting an extra 120 intake to the outside back of the case. Pulls in directly under my 3080 from the back, the front fans pull in directly under it from the front, it all gets pulled up by the card fans

    Now days with 600 watts GPUs the standard case will not work properly. They are not optimized for this much heat. First the fans used in all cases are not blower type so they don't produce enough pressure they have a lot of volume but once there is any restriction they don't flow anymore. 2nd the GPU fan is exhausted separately this will in most cases affect your air flow in a negative way because your exhaust fan will most likely create more pressure than the GPU fan and then the GPU fan will simply not pump the air out of the case. This is way once the case is open temperatures will drop.

    I have a pure base 500dx with the stock 3 fans. I'm considering adding 1 more fan at the front (so going from the base 3 to 4 fans). Do you think it will be able to cool a 7900 xtx properly?

    • @Gribbous
      @Gribbous Рік тому

      3 x 140mm fans in that case is just fine. ( 2 front, 1 rear) you are going to get VERY diminishing returns on more fans. If you want to test it yourself, set all your fans to 50% and check temps, then set all fans to 100% and see if you get any temperature drop. But long story short no you don't need any more fans to cool a 7900xtx. Just make sure you have 2 front 1 rear.

      Not the same, because the radiator will decrease the airflow - and you would have some more heat from the CPU. It won't likely make a big difference, but the CPU may be slightly cooler, while the GPU may be slightly warmer.

      @@mariolp2999 I had a client that bought an NZXT H5 flow, an AIO that was too big for the case initially, with a Zotac 4080, and it would not fit at all top mounted because of the RAM clearance (I didn't pick the parts lol). He asked if I could make it work, so I finagled the fans pushing air through the radiator, venting inside the case, from between the chassis and front panel mesh. It had to be setup in an entirely messed up weird way with maybe a centimeter (not exaggerating lol) of space between the radiator and graphics card... somehow the temps are not terrible, but I took a chance and set the top fans to exhaust with the normal rear fan. Even under load, it was only maxing 68c on the GPU, and he paid double my rate even after I told him it wasn't necessary... full disclaimer: he didn't even have me fully benchmark and validate it, but he hasn't reported any issues whatsoever. I told him it'll be a negative pressure dustcatcher, but that's easy to mitigate with a modicum of routine cleaning.
      Needless to say, it can work, but unless you're willing to solve some hardcore spatial math at times, and possibly risk an inferno case, not at all recommended lol.

    I wouldn't worry about GPUs overheating. The 4000 series besides the 4090 have been very efficient in terms of power consumption and thermals which is pretty much their only huge positive this generation. Thus why the 4090 is the only GPU you might consider using an AIO if you're going to be using it on 100% load for long sessions.
    The high end CPUs on the other hand on both intel and AMD are a much bigger problem. Gone are the days where you can use an air cooler unlike the GPUs, an AIO is always a necessity for them now (high end CPUs that is).
    So yeah GPU thermals are the least of your worries, the fans keep them cool enough unless you got a cramped case with a bunch of stuff blocking air flow.
