    I use these with the Chord Mojo which I think drives them extremely well but can't help feeling a bigger amp could do a much better job.
    Excellent review by the way. It's not like other technical reviews out there. You truly put your heart and soul into what you do. Keep up the good work 👍

      Thank you very much for your kind words. I try my best. I'm not a professional so I don't really know how to review or portray things other than how I see them and how I experienced them. I'm glad you enjoy them.
      From my experience I'd completely agree with you. Though the Mojo is a ridiculously incredible combi, a powerful desktop setup will bring out what the Tesla drivers can really do, especially in the bass response.

    Even tried and owned many more expensive headphones, T1 is still one of my favorites. I could hear the difference of their ideology between Beyerdynamic and many other firms for example Sennheiser. The hd800 more or less is trying to simulate the sound coming from a pair of speakers while T1 is like a soldier strictly observe his duty of headphones. T1 did not try to compete for many kinds of stuff that headphones are not good at but firmly showed us what headphones are gifted at.

      Yeah, the turn out was MUCH bigger than I expected and companies really came forth for this meet too! Good food and great gear, sadly I wasn't able to hear hardly anything for I was talking and mingling the majority of the time but I had a blast nonetheless. I'll be hosting another one (unless someone else beats me to it) around March 2019 so you can keep a lookout for it.

      You just described what I thought between the two. In terms of the HD800 trying to sound like a pair of speakers, it pretty much explains what I always felt about the HD800's soundstage. It feels fake.

    • @yijiebian6458
      @yijiebian6458 6 років тому

      It depends on tastes. I couldn't tell which one is better but HD800 sometimes sounds wried. HD800s reduces this fake feeling and sounds more neutral.

    After 7 years of use I must say T1 2nd gen still one of my top 3 headphones in my collection. I bought a lot more (too many I'm afraid) after getting it but none gave me the instant pleasant sound these gave me since the 1st time I put them on my head. In synergy with my ifiProCanSignature they are incredible! Unfortunately beyer screwed up completely with the highly inferior T1 3 gen, that I had to return because they were totally the opposite. So, if you have the chance and like to "enjoy music" these cans are the best, except for hard rock I agree. For those the DT-1990 Pro offer more slam than the T1-2. But regarding all the other genres (including electronica) they're amazing.

  • @billyc3161
    @billyc3161 6 років тому +2

    Once again, great review!! I used to have the T1 gen 1 a while back and had the itch to get the Gen 2. Until a great price for the HD 800s popped up and I couldn't help but jump on that killer deal they were offered for a new, open box. I clearly understand when you mention the T1 portraying the musicality and soul of the music. It' quite something. Would love to hear the new changes they did with the added bass and tuned down treble. Maybe one day! Lol. I Love beyerdynamic I used to also own the T5p as well. Great sets of headphones whether you get the closed back or semi open. Can never go wrong with either of them.

    • @Army-Firedawg
      @Army-Firedawg  6 років тому

      Thanks for the kind words my friend. So you've heard/owned the original and the T5p. Did they sound fairly similar, bright sounding?
      How ya liking the 800's? Pretty darn revealing aren't they?

    • @billyc3161
      @billyc3161 6 років тому

      They were fairly similar but the T5p had better bass impact and speed compared to the T1. (I'm a metal head lol). The treble to me had more of a peak on the T1 than the T5p. Just ever so slightly. Depending on the recording of course. As a bonus the T1 was amazing for gaming. It's imaging was incredible for playing battlefield or any fps games.
      The HD 800s is truly an amazing headphones. I never had a chance to hear the original HD 800 but from what I've read from reviews and such. I think I made the perfect choice for my liking preference lol. I used to own a few flagship headphones, to the T1, Mrspeakers Ether C, and AKG K812. The HD 800s has become my favorite of them all and others I've owned.

    • @Army-Firedawg
      @Army-Firedawg  6 років тому

      That's very interesting about the treble. That's what turned me off about the T5p's but it could also very well just be my ears and I've also not heard the original T1 either :P.
      And I truly believe the 800 S is an upgrade to the original in every way except for the all black look (I'm just really not a fan of it at all). Right now I'm at a tough spot because the ATH-ADX5000 is an AMAZING headphone that I personally like more than the 800 S....but what I can get for a used 800 S is still WAY less than the 5000's go for (w/ the balanced cable to add insult to injury). But I'm still, like yourself, loving the 800 S so I think I'll be just fine :D.

    • @billyc3161
      @billyc3161 6 років тому

      The ADX-5000 sure looks like an impressive headphone and have read good things about it. Too bad it's out of my budget though. Hopefully one day I get to try them Out. Looking forward to your review about them! Keep it up bro!

    This review is pretty accurate. The T1 has a treble peak at 7-8khz though, so not really entirely neutral i guess. And T1 is not easy to drive, I doubt many would use it with a portable DAP

  • @kevinsmith9337
    @kevinsmith9337 6 років тому

    Having owned the T1.2 in the past I have to agree with your review, I only let go of mine because I didn't have the right amp for it and didn't want to spend that much money on an amp to bring out it's best. I currently have the Amiron Home and has been my favorite sub-$1000 headphone. I agree about it being more of a cohesive musical whole and properly portraying the inner soul and musicality of the music.

    • @Army-Firedawg
      @Army-Firedawg  6 років тому

      That is a downside that A LOT of people don't realize when they purchase certain end game headphones. To really get what makes them special takes a whole lot more and for many that just isn't worth it (and that's by NO means a bad thing).
      Funny you mention the Amiron Home. A lot of what you said I even stated in my review which should be up tomorrow (on shift today). But my goodness they hit a home run with that headphone. It scales really well but its performance is just ridiculous for it to "only" be a $600 headphone.

    • @kevinsmith9337
      @kevinsmith9337 6 років тому

      That is true, especially something that is 600 ohms like the T1. I only got the T1 via a trade otherwise I would of a waited to get one after I had a proper system. My system is good but it's not ideal for 600 ohm headphones.
      Looking forward to your Amiron Home review. I've been a big proponent of the Amiron Home on Head-Fi for a long time, I was one of the early adopters of the headphone and reviewed it early on, many have overlooked the headphone but it slowly seems to be gathering a bit of a following. It's definitely better than the recent Sennheiser HD 660 S which I also have. The interesting thing I have never heard a bad Beyer in terms of fidelity before, maybe not having a tuning to my liking but you can fix that in terms of modding and/or EQ, their vintage stuff actually holds up today. Even the old DT 48 is surprisingly good despite it's flaws, extremely analog sounding. They've know what they are doing since day one with the first dynamic headphone.

    • @Army-Firedawg
      @Army-Firedawg  6 років тому

      Bro I could NOT have said that any better, and agree with you on every point you made (even the 660 S). I, like you, REALLY hope these headphones get more headway because my goodness they're incredible. And also, like you said, I haven't heard a bad headphone from them either. I've heard a few I personally didn't care for but that's just my personal tastes and also like you said, can be relatively easily fixed. I really enjoy their hand made approach they continue to do. I, as a consumer, value something that was made by hand SO MUCH and really wish other companies added some more of that.

    very solid review. have you heard the focal elex? I have sundaras right now and love the detail and energy. have k7xx too but i've never really heard anything people call warm so the lcd2c is also on my mind, but the word veiled gets tossed around and is something i'd like to avoid. right now i'm running an su-8 into a magni 3.

    • @Army-Firedawg
      @Army-Firedawg  5 років тому +1

      Thank you very kindly for the compliment and I'm glad my review was of some help to you.
      I have heard the Elex very breifly at the recent CanFest meet in March and from memory they're definitely a Focal product (very clear and detail sounding and quite flat overall).
      A warm sounding headphone is something that I always personally search for for it's the sound signature I personally love more than any other. As for your LCD-2C, though I can't personally comment on it for I've never heard that model but the regular LCD-2 I really fell in love with and in my review I even compared them to my HD800 and favorite headphone of all time the Opp PM-1 (which I HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for a warm headphone). I wouldn't really say they had a veilish but they definitely benefit from some burn in time.
      On a side note, your amp is definitely not helping your sound. The Magni 3, though an absolutely fantastic amp, is very well known for being a bright amp, if fact most all Schiit SS amps are. If you're looking for a more musical experience, I really recommend looking into a tube amp.

      x Army Firedawg x a useful reply too, ima subscribe. I’ve never heard tubes so i’m definitely interestd. Warm is a curiosity, but detail is my biggest love so i dont shy away from bright. I think ur right tho, with tubes i can tweak more and try different combos. I hate the rich people who’re always saying buy and try both. Might end up with lcds and either beyer t1s or elex one day but hey thats what the future is for lol

    Hey man - really like your reviews but I do have a question...Since you’ve reviewed the LCD2 and these, which do you prefer?
    The LCD2 which is very smooth, easy to listen to with great bass extension, or the T1 with its attention to detail and great treble extension?
    I have the LCD2 from 2018 and I do really enjoy that headphone but I also picked up the dt990 premium which honestly is a v-shaped headphone but comes darn close to the much more expensive Audeze in some ways.
    Thanks!

    • @Army-Firedawg
      @Army-Firedawg  5 років тому +1

      My personal tastes will virtually always side with the more warmer, musical, headphone. Yes the T1 is beautifully analytical is also has a musical side as well which is why I like it over the HD800 S subjectively. But if I had to choose between the LCD 2 and T1 I would side with the LCD 2 because of its musicality.
      And that's REALLY interesting about the DT990. I recently heard it again (though DRASTICALLY under powered/amp'd to disclaim) and was not too impressed with it.

    Great and very helpful review as always, especially as I am stuck between the T1 and the HD800s. You raised an interesting point at around 8:33 about experiencing the music - would you say you enjoy the T1's more than the HD800s'?

    • @Army-Firedawg
      @Army-Firedawg  6 років тому

      Subjectivly yes. I personally liked the T1 quite a bit more than my 800 S in complete honesty. The ONLY reason I would keep my 800 S is because they're such a complete 180 over my dream PM-1 headphones whereas the T1 corresponds more closely to them.
      EDIT: Also the T1's are just made so much better.

    • @Rade71
      @Rade71 6 років тому

      x Army Firedawg x Cheers for the quick reply. Considering how positive your 800s review was, I'm a bit surprised by your preference. I guess I need to spend some time listening to both. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

      Both are GREAT headphones and I do love the HD800 S. If I were to only have a single endgame headphone I would, of these 2, choose the T1. But, because the 800 S is such a 180 difference between my dream headphones, the OPPO PM-1, the 800 S makes for a better complementary headphone.
      EDIT: Corrected grammatical & punctual errors.

      @@Richard1979hush
      Absolutely. There's no hurry at all to buy any equipment until you're totally sure it's what you're wanting. So a combi that I think would do you very well it the new Schiit Lyr (www.schiit.com/products/lyr-1). I had the Lyr 2 and absolutely LOVED it (much more so than the HDVD800 I sold it to fund). Very clean and musical sound with ample power to fuel anything I threw at it. Also, with it being a tube amp you can research different tubes to alter the sound a little bit to your liking. Now, if the 4490 DAC that is included in the $599 price is anything like the Bifrost 4490 I had then you are MORE than going to enjoy the detail retrieval. It only barely looses to the DAC I'm currently using that costs MUCH MUCH more [PS Audio DL3]). So if I can throw a contender in for you to consider that would definitely be one.

    do you think its worth getting either 1990 or Amiron? or if i have the T1 it considered to be the top? would you say dt 1990 pro is similar to the T1? and the Amiron is more relaxed and worth having as an addition to the T1? thanks.

    • @Army-Firedawg
      @Army-Firedawg  6 років тому

      I've heard the 990 but I have NOT heard the 1990 so I cant give a direct comparison but if it's an upgraded 990 it's a more brighter signature similar to that of the T5p. I personally don't care much for cold/bright signature's thus the Amiron was a hit for me and to date one of the best price/quality headphones I've heard. BUT because of the neutral tonality the T 1.2 has, either the Home or the 1990 (*assuming* it shares the 990's brightness) would be a decent complementary pair. Which signature do you personally enjoy more, warm or cold?

    • @audiogal6977

      I really like the T1's detailed highs, especially with strings and female vocals, but sometimes it can be a bit too metallic sounding, so im looking for same clarity on the highs but with a bit warmth and bass... after getting used to treble, listening to the HD 650 for example ,was dull and little boring, the 660s is better in my opinion.. is 660s is similar to the Amiron?

    • @Army-Firedawg

      From looking at the specs from the website I don't see any output Wattage but I personally think you should be fine. I really goes into pushing its powerful amp so I think your sound card should be just fine with the T1. And as for are they good for gaming. From my experience yes. I only played Destiny with them but they performed very nicely for me. The soundstage is a mediumesk one so I think you'll find a happy medium between an open and closed back gaming headphone argument but the tight bass and detail retrieval made me hearing my own footsteps, gunshots, etc... quite easy and describable as far as location. I think you'll be in good hands my friend.

    • @Army-Firedawg
      @Army-Firedawg  6 років тому

      It would likely make the music sound quite a bit better but your sound card is specifically designed for gaming so it'll lokely have better 3D effects.
      And I'm not that impressed by its output power. The murantz only puts out .8W into 32 ohms so that's like .2W into 600 (guessing off top of my head I haven't done the literal math) so not a lot of power so for what you're specifically wanting it for I think you're soundcard will be better off.

    Hi army i bought the. Beyerdynamic amiron home and use them. With my ps4 pr0 to watch movies and games. These t1 2gen do these sound better. And are they fatiguing. What do you think sound best. Ive had the amiron home for about three weeks now. And they sound great. But. What do you think. Is the best. Thankyou

      AWESOME HEADPHONE!!! I LOVE the Amiron's. But the answer to your question is a difficult one. The T1.2 is by far the more accurate headphone as well as superb in positional awareness and even soundstage, so for gaming they're also significantly better. So in terms of an audiophile headphone, the T1.2 is better in spades.
      The Amiron is a sensually musical headphone that just envelops its listener in audio bliss and relaxation. It's sound is much warmer and slower than the T1.2 and, imo, more comfortable to wear, so im terms of musicality they absolutely mop the floor woth the T1.2 They're truthfully 2 completely different headphones so it all depends on what sound signature you personally enjoy the most.

      x Army Firedawg x yep, I tried to get the tp5 (?)
      but until now, impossible.
      from the us: to expensive
      around europe :none
      but THIS video gave me a nice hint:
      the gen 1, as you said, seems to be ? in high frequencies.
      and bigger around the ears.
      i'd like that.
      maybe some research to find a used one.
      all german headphones seem to be difficult in highs for american taste.
      so they change into us-style. business.
      softer in highs and more bass.
      to me a question of anthropology.
      but no more comment on this, nobody interested,
      everybody wants bass nowadays.
      psycho-analytically interesting
      thanks
      ps: anything from your side about the schiit "equalizer"
      mr tech - agent says: not for digital,
      only for analogue -sources.
      so who could use it for what?
      thanks and guten tag again

      You made a very strong point, and it's one I've noticed, and commented on in videos, is that everyone wants super strong bass. Yes, bass is important for it adds fullness to the music but don't blare it at me like the mainstream products love to do.
      I also didn't even think about us being sensitive to treble. That may very well be true because when I talk to others , here in the states, and then talk with people on here who live abroad the treble issues I personally had, they don't seem to mind at all. I never even thought about that.
      As for the Schiit EQ. I was only able to VERY BRIEFLY use it at the CanFest 6 meet in a Magni 3-Modi 2 build and I personally had no issues with it. The results are immediate and sound quite natural, again from my BRIEF (less than ONE song) experience with it. One thing I wish it had, and will likely adopt in future models, is a longer band, or at least 5 so there's a mid band.

      x Army Firedawg x bravo
      and thanks
      I tried to inform about the psychoanalysis about music and it's effects on the brain.
      but you are the only one who reacted in an interested way
      there are academic stages about that , but I have to admit,
      the majority of the headphone - community is not interested.
      bass-head rule the world in every-which- way.
      mozart " moz-ART" was an outsider - example.
      but listen around you:
      what is ruling the world?
      bas - instincts
      low - vibrations
      the gorillas are pounding their breasts.
      and the butterflies are dying....
      plato and socrates knew it long time ago
      boom boom boom .....
      rap = raping the planet
      hi
      ever listened to tim buckley " good-bye and hello" ...?
      the new world and their electronic shrines.....

      It's a very interesting subject. Music is emotion, and headphones/speakers are just a way they can be portrayed.
      And nope, never heard of him until you mentioned it. But after listening to this song (below) I can see the draw. Not my cup of tea but I can see the interest for sure.
