- Blue Crabs, in this video we'll be looking for some new crabbing spots on the east coast of Florida. We didn't do any crabbing at our first 2 spots because of Alligators. On our 3rd spot we started catching some Blue Crabs, the crabbing started off slow but picked up in about a half hour. Using just handlines we ended up with 10 good size Blue Crabs, we also caught several small crab but were looking for large ones. The crabbing slowed down so we headed home and made a mini crab boil. We don't have that issue in Missouri. But no crabs neither.

You can't crab when they're around, they'll grab all the bait on our handlines and you have to constantly keep your eyes on them. Thanks for Watching

When we're in a different area we look for inland boat ramps that aren't busy, they usually have a dock, we also look at small bridges over creeks and inland fishing piers. We start off using handlines just to see if there are any crabs in the area, if there is we'll try our ring traps. Thanks for Watching

Thanks, we used to live in New Jersey and we did a lot of Crabbing for rock and blue crabs. I used to clam commercially when I was in highschool in the spring and summer. We used to catch a lot of clams here in Florida also but a few years ago something killed all of them in the area where we went clamming. We're glad you enjoy our videos, Thanks for Watching

Sam and Joyce I’m going to be down in Davenport in July. Do you know where I could go crabbing. I live in Vermont and I have never crabbed before but I’ve watched the two of you so I have faith I can do this. I’m like a little kid thinking about hand lining in the crabs! If you know of anyone who could take me fishing I’d appreciate the information. My grandson and I have been invited down with family friends for 10 days.
I'd try the Merritt Island area around the mangroves, that's around the Canaveral National Seashore area. Handlines work best there and try to get there on the incoming tide or at least have some moving water. Good Luck and Thanks for Watching our videos

I just have a question I've been catching crabs on crab lives probably about 60 years Why in the world don't you clean your crab before you cook them do you cook your chicken with the guts in it Do enjoy your show have a blessed day and yes I am a native Floridian
We clean ours most of the time but most people cook them alive especially in Maryland probably the most known crabbing state. All the commercial crab processers cook them whole. My family were commercial fisherman and when I was a young crabber about 70 years ago I didn't know anyone who cleaned their crabs, not until sometime in the 80's. Thanks for Watching our videos

Sam, have you ever used a trot line for crabbing? From the results you get on hand lines, you could bushel out in a couple hours. And it would be so much fun watching Joyce net them as they came up the line.
I've been thinking about it. The last time I used anything similar to a trot line was codfish gear, 4 miles of it when I was young and lived in New Jersey, we would catch a lot of codfish. Thanks again for watching our videos

That is one of my favorite spots! At the end of that road there is a foot bridge to the right. Cross that to the beach and look right, there is the remains of a wooder pier. Lots of crabs there too. Happy crabbing! Great video!

I noticed your plates are from the former Capt Starns Restaurant in Atlantic City. Cool!
I started working at Capt Starn's when I was 10 years old, on the party boats. I also worked on the sightseeing boats, the Miss Atlantic City (speed boat), sport fishing boats and the commercial fishing boats. They were some of the best years of my life. Thanks for Watching our videos
