- Pippi Longstocking has a monkey, a horse and of course: a colorful house. But did you know that there is an exciting story behind the famous "Villa Villekulla"? In this video I tell this story - and of course I will also find out what is left of the legendary house today.

The google maps location is correct. It is possible to lineup the trees from the tv-show to google street view.
The house you can see in the backgrond in the tv-show was a barn and it is long gone.
Chimneys were removed when the house was moved.
Some of the furniture inside Villa Villekulla is original like the sofa.

The sofa was the first thing I noticed! I have to say, they did an incredible job of re-dressing the interior. I'd previously seen photos and until this video, assumed they _had_ filmed them in the house based on them.

I was in Gotland summer of -68 and have a photo of Villa Villekulla and the Google map person is right, it was not located on a gravel road but next to an asphalt road and I was taking the photos from the road. You where not allowed inside the fence. My photos match exactly the google location.
is there any way you can share those photos? id love to see them! it was military ground back then, is the original location accessible now?

The place on Google Maps is absolutely the right location. I've studied the Street View footage and you can still recognise the trees surrounding the house. The white gate was at the asphalt road, with three trees on the right and three trees on the left of it. The view is still the same (but there are way more bushes now). The trees on the other side of the road (and the gravel road crossing the asphalt road) also appear in some scenes in the background and are still very recognisable. The big tree in the meadow on the other side of the road must be gone, it's not there anymore, but the forest in the far background is the same as 55 years ago. Someone placed a 360-view on the place as well; I had to puzzle a little because everything is overgrown with plants, grass and shrubs - but it surely matches the film footage.
Thank you very much for making this video. I'm 23 and I loved Pippi Calzelunghe (that's the name in Italian) so much. I visited Sweden 2 years ago and I loved it so much, the atmosphere was exactly like in the film. You made a fantastic video. Hopefully a lot more people will watch it

The house moved to this place some time after the tv series ended. Have not always stod there. Iam from Sweden.
I'm a pensioner however I never watched a complete Pippi movie or episode, not my liking, just too crazy.
Yet, I watched this video because I realise the cultural impact of this series was huge at the time and it definitely belongs now to Swedish heritage.
You do Sweden very well...did you do anything more on Gotland?
