A genuinely helpful video. The first "Beginner's guide" I found looking for help wasnt beginner friendly at all. Then I see this, precisely what I needed, glowing in the recommendeds
just got back into the game, and its been a few years since my last game. the last update i played was the introduction of the 1st ever gem compressor. so its was a long time ago. thanks for this vids it really helps a lot. and for that a sub.
Because of this guide, i was able to finally automate repairs. I had already automated everything else but repairs annoyed me. Now with this i can literally let the game run and itll run my whole set up of about 16 punch drills
ok, I do understand that everyone can do as they please, and that you're fine with a single circuit for all the repairs. but for those interested, each filters reduce the damage taken by the machine by 20% right ? but "machine" is not only for the stuff you create at the forge. it also applies to the filters. so, let's say you have 2 filters. by the time the first one hits 0% durability, the second one will have lost 80% of its durability. (whilst the other machines after the 2 filters will have lost 60% of theirs.) now, with 5 filters: when the first one hits 0, the second will hit 20, third 40, fourth 60 fifth 80. now let's say you only repair the first one: you're now at 100 - 20 - 40 - 60 - 80 the next time you need to fix something, it will be the 2nd filter. and you'll have the durability : 75 - 0 - 25 - 50 - 75 next is fixing the 3rd: 33 - 66,4 - 0 - 33,2 - 66,6 (aproximates) etc. (not super clear, I know, and probably not enough in depth, but the conclusion still stands) next time the first one needs to be fixed, you'll be left with durability (with amount of times already fixed): 100 (2) - 40 (1) - 80 (1) - 20 (0) - 60 (0) anyway, by the time you need to fix the last filter, you've fixed the first one 4 times, the second one 3, the third, 2 and the fourth once. so using individual circuits will make you use 10 instead of 25 you would use by fixing them all at once.
yepp. i have a friend who left his build running for 8 hours. the first filter had used 12 spanners filter 2 had used 9 filter 3 had used 6, filter 4 had used 3 and the fifth filter 1
@@Hybridsteel follow up question to wither1019's: can we line two pipes with 4 filters and repair both sets of 4 per single repair, or does each filter on pipe 1 (the detected pipe for repair signaling) get repaired individually, requiring additional logic to repair all 4 at once?
Does it work on iron drills? Also I find it amazing that you personally respond to so many of these comments. I don't know many channels that respond at all. It's very appreciated.
Great videos brother! I've been playing Hydroneer for 70 hours now and I am fascinated by it! I've been playing SoT, HD2, DRG and a dabb of Minecraft here n there. Hydroneer has attached to my soul like an alien parasite, a good alien. The game is so good. I found your channel and you are the most one I watch. You deliver the info to the point and to your best ability. It shows. Great content for such an underdog of a game!Cheers from USA.
thanks for kicking by matey, hydroneer has been a good block to this channel over the last 4 years its been a good ride for factory builders and sandbox gamers.,. nothing too taxing just chill fun.
I’ve just built your design today and ran into a problem. It would shoot all of the spanners and wouldn’t reset. I must of built censor first causing the issue you talked about. But I was able to fix this by putting a logic flip hook towards the spanners Thrower. It seem to fix the logic problem that you encounter when you build it with sensor first and works as intended. Could you do some testing on this? I’m not the only one to encounter the problem with spanners thrower shooting all of them in one go and think it would be a great video for the community. Love your work and look forward to more of your videos.
@@Hybridsteel I’m not saying your design doesn’t work man. It works great currently using it . My issue was the spanners wouldn’t stop firing all that where loaded in it. Maybe it was a weird bug but I seen others have the issue talk about it.If you put a logic flip hook on the spanned side then remove it. It seems to make it work as intended. Just thought it would be interesting topic to talk about because my issue I had no one had a video on how too fix it that’s all.
i use half of your second setup as the first one. if you remove all the logic from the first and put an open "==" logic T at a corner it works the same as the 2nd but only when it hits 0 durability. this also bypasses the problem you were having with the logic sticking. which is actually a property of the logic gate you are using. when the signal flips from greater than zero to zero it flips its output state. and since by default it's 0, it becomes a 1. then gets "stuck" repairing untill the filter breaks and the signal flips again to 0 and stops trying to repair anything. once it gets manually repaired it would then restart the loop of constantly repairing. since each filter down the line degrades 20% slower than the one infront of it, it will save money down the line to setup a sensor and logic for each. the filters could use a description upgrade where it says it filters it by 20% instead of 2 (max 10) as it means the same. as it seems some ppl think it means 10 filters and not value.
Geez, once again something that seems like it should be so difficult and complicated, you made clear, easy to understand, and communicated well! THANK YOU! I don't know why I found myself unsubscribed from you, but I fixed it. :)
@@Hybridsteel Thanks! I couldn't get my spanner automation to work as you showed, but I did manage to have just one reader in a long row of spanners and a display of the health of that one filter. When it gets low enough, I push a button and ALL of the filters get a new spanner and I see the counter for the lead filter displayed at 100. I tried really hard, bought a ton of items I have to now store somewhere, but I'm sure I'll use them. ;) Next, I'm automating gem production. Thanks for your videos! I'm so glad I found you again.
I wanted to run an experiment so my build uses 10 filters (the max) with 10 readers and 10 tossers, each on a separate loop. I wanted to see exactly how often the filters further down the line get used. Pretty much anything past 5 have never dropped. It does reduce spanner usage as well, as only the first couple really need to be topped up now and then. It's not the cost of the spanners that's the issue, but the time. Only having to reload 1 or 2 tossers does save time. But by the looks of it, you really don't need any more than 5 filters to prevent machinery being damaged down the line, which makes sense since 5 filters is 100% (20% per filter), but I wanted to make sure that was the case and there was no built in degradation regardless of how many filters you put on. Plus I had the space and the money.
@@Hybridsteel Pretty much. But even if the first one breaks, it completely shuts down the entire line, so even having more than 5 doesn't benefit anything. Unless you wire in some redundancy that if it runs out of spanners that it would trigger over to the second group and have even more time. But that's a bit overkill. Doable, but overkill.
@@Hybridsteel Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall in previous versions, when the filter hit 0 that it still worked, just didn't filter. Let dirty water through. But now, when it breaks, it stops letting any water through. Seizes up entirely. That's been my experience so far.
the line would stutter so water wouldnt work properly but now it basically shuts down.. i do have a friend who setup an auto repair though he left it for 8 hours the first filter used 12 or 14 spanners so with an auto in place u wouldnt have to worry for ages. hope this helps prolong the filter breaking problem
@@Hybridsteel Interesting. I've used spanners faster than that, I think. Wonder if having a bigger load will degrade the filters faster. I might have to do a test on it.
I build it in a way so i can enter a threshold into a keypad and when the durability goes under that value (in my case set to 2) it repairs the individual filter. That way the belts and stuff don't stutter until the repair is done and it also reduces the amount of spanners needed over time. (means i don't have to check on the system and refill it that that often.)
This works, but you need to do an "automatic repair" per filter, because when the first is at 0 all five filters are repaired, but when the first is at 0 the last may be at 60, so you're using 5 repair kits at the same time when the others don't need them.
yeah thats how every single person sets it up after watching this video.. the idea was to give a different pay of thinking but at the same time giving the player the actual understanding of what u need to do.
@@Hybridsteel I know what you mean, it's a simplistic explanation of how it works, but I don't understand English very well, especially since you have a strong accent, so I don't understand it very well, but it's a global vision.
Been a while since I needed this so I was very happy to have it bookmarked. Still works like a charm, thanks for the video and all the time you invest. Been working on the Volcalidus DLC and enjoying your current video's and streams. 👍
Your channel gives me serious Mumbo Jumbo vibes! He’s a very popular Minecraft UA-camr who messes with redstone, very similar to the way you are messing with logic in Hydroneer.
Thank you so much for the video, building "backwards" was instrumental in 100% first time success, especially as someone who is "days new" to this game and still calling Ember Cradle "home".
I just´ve had the AHA moment and suddenly understood everything. If you´d put the delay switches in between the repair thingies it would work cheaper. Here I come Icehelm, going to fully automate it. Thanks a lot.
Great video! like some others, I setup 5 individual loops for the repair process to minimize using spanners unnecessarily. I did have some odd behavior when I first built this, when the first filter reached 0, the repair attachment fired all 20 spanners at it and did not repair the filter, I saved and quit, came back in and now it works fine :)
By the time you've got money to start messing around with logic money isn't really going to be a concern anymore though. Even on a very modest tier 1 setup you're going to be pulling hundreds of thousands in cash every time you stop to make and sell a necklace. And with autorepair going where you can be off doing other things and just letting your plant run it will only take a couple of play sessions until you've got more cash than you could possibly ever spend legitimately in the game. Needlessly repairing filters that don't actually need it isn't going to matter at all.
My first time and it fired the entire group of spanners too. My mistake was not aligning the tosser with the filter properly. I had the filter attached to the top of the pipe and the tosser on the side. An audible "Huh" escaped my lips and I adjusted the filter to the side as well, problem solved.
I'm guessing Yt doesnt like links, so I'll toss my 2c in just text instead. I use a line of >= checks, B side goes to the durability reader, A sides all link together to a Number Pad that I have set to 5. Output from those goes up to the spanner dispensers that point down at the filters. This lets you set your lower durability to whatever you want, and whenever a check goes below that, it will send a single blip to fix it. I also personally prefer to have all of my filters read themselves, so I dont use extra spanners for that 5th filter that never needs them. If you want, I can send a picture to a discord or something if you have one. I'm a newbie myself and just getting into Hydroneer, your videos have been really useful for getting started!
I've noticed for my pipes that the first two depreciate much faster than the next two, with the last breaking the slowest. So I think I would use 3 readers to repair the first two at once, the third and fourth at once, and the last one whenever it goes off since it's so slow. It would save a bit in the long run, but granted, by this point you should have more than enough money to buy a bunch of spanners.
@@Hybridsteel That what I do (5 circuits), and for @Naefaren--while the money isn't an issue, I'd prefer not bothering to buy the kits and fill the spanner throwers more frequently.
Will the game let you build a pipe system with 5 separate lines going in to one? Just thinking if they will degrade the same amount then. Going to test that out 👍
All I can imagine is also the button thing with logic as well. That's why I asked about this topic. Thanks a lot and I'll try to check tiered dirt with different mining sets. I wonder how big their difference is but that's exactly the charm of this game.
you can link the dura reader to a logic valve as a failsafe to turn off the water so if you run out of spanners the machines down the line dont get damage
Great videos, just one detail I don't like about triggering multiple repairers in one go: The first filter gets damaged much faster then the later ones, so you waste many repair-items if you always repair all in one go. I guess this drawback is worth to mention (And even with the cost of spanners being neglectable late in the game, it still makes a difference, if you have to carry 20 or 15 sets of spanners for every refill)
Sooo. It outputs 0 unless A equals B. No wonder you struggle so much with logic; this isn't logical. I expected it to do nothing unless A matched B. Frustrating.
I've build a simple auto repair system and the issue I have is that the spanner thrower is dumping all 20 spanners in one go when it breaks. Have you come across this have i done something daft?
u built it forwards, u placed the reader first which primes the circuit, if you take it apart and build it backwards to reader last ur be fine as long as u added the flip flop cable attachment as well.
I have a question about something that Im about to try myself. But i figured id ask so others can see too. you can have multiple filters on one pipe. Question is: What read-out and what repairs go to which filters if you have the filters around one pipe?
yes u can use miltippe filters on 1 line. it degrades the same as having 4 filters on 4 pipes...... bu u do need 5 filters for fully filtered water. the main downside to it is setting up the auto repair
u cant put deep soil under a top level soil dril soil takes the properties of dirt where it is placed so it will turn into whatever soil it is where it rests so t3 soil can become t1 soil if you move it to that dpeth...... downside theres no t3 tools its an exmaple
This was perfect!! I last night I literally bought all the parts to build a circuit basically similar to your layout. (Second one) I was planning on doing it for drills and then one for the filter lines. I do have a (probably stupid) question about pumps. If I add a second pump and plumb it in to my main line along with the primary pump, does that add to pressure or does pressure just remain 100%? Yes I know it probably sounds stupid but I’m fairly new to the game and just got a small mining system setup.
Hmmm. So is there no way to automate repair if you have multiple filters to a pipe? Or would this work still? I haven't touched logic yet, but I've been running 4 filters on the first pipe, 1 on the next, purely for the compactness.
@@Hybridsteel :P I see where that was asked below, but that wasn't my question ;) If you place 4 filters on a single pipe, is the logic able to read and trigger repairs? I assume it repairs all 4 at once? Curious, because I do it that way for compactness, 5 filters attached to 2 pipes instead of 5 and 5.
I've made something like that. From the intake, my pipes go up for two straight pipes, then turn, forward for three and down again to the rest of the system. The two pipes that go up both have 3 filters attached. Each of those filters have a spanner hurler pointed towards them. This is why I worked upwards. Connect the spanner hurlers together, circling around the pipes (it becomes quite a big construction at this point). But don't connect the hurlers from the two different heights together. Pointed to the empty side of the pipes I have two readers. Both are connected to two separate A>=B T-wires, with the A sides connected together to a numb pad. This last part is similar to the second setup in this video. It works! There's just two problems that I find annoying. The first is that this becomes a massive construction that you have to wriggle yourself into, just to reload. The second and more annoying one: the filters on the same pipe do not degrade equally. One of them will break sooner than the others. However, the reader only reads one of the three attached filters, and there's no telling which one it will take when installing. I've tried swapping filters around, rotating pipes, rotating the reader (which does change which one it reads, but not in any logical way that I could find). The reader is always gonna read a filter that still has a higher durability that the one that is breaking down. So you have to find the correct number to enter into the keypad, i.e. the durability that the filter has that the reader is reading, at the time the other filter breaks down. And then, after a reload (I think) the speed at which they degrade changes, so you have to start this process again. However, if a filter breaks down, the entered number isn't reached yet and you leave it unattended, the other filters on the same pipe still degrade, so the repair will fire eventually. I hope this made sense.
In my experience equal to junction didn't always work. My PC could lag at just the right moment and it would not register. A solution for it might be to use more then or equals junction
@@Hybridsteel yeah I’ve never had any issues with the equals to. You can actually omit the keypad with that setup because if you don’t have a number input into the equals to it is default at 0.
no matter how i set it up, as soon it reaches the set value for repair it just uses all the spanners because the reader doesn't update det durability of the filter? (have tried facing the filter every possible way)
Do u have the flip cable on it. Also when u built it did u build it backwards as if u built it forwards it might be stuck in 1 signal so it will always fire
@@Hybridsteel i fixed the problem.. aparently i was tired when i tried setting the logic system up.. the spanner thrower didn't point directly at the filter.. but thanks alot for respons, and thanks for your awesome content :D
I have the reader coming out vertical above the pipes that gives a nice loop above the spanner thrower to load it. I also have a reader per filter with an and gate between each reader and the thrower, but all tied in to the same keypad to simplify it and save on spanners as i dont fix all when one reaches 3. An easy extension to this build you finished with. The cost of the spanners isnt an issue but less trips to the shop is 🙂
If you're worried about being able to get the spanners in you can raise the pipes up or dig under them and put the reader underneath for a one reader per thrower system, or move the reader to the other side and have it go further up or to the side for a one reader multiple thrower system. One reader per thrower means less effort and cost on refills since the non-first throwers last longer but one reader multiple thrower means less effort and cost on setup. Also don't worry about wasting a bag on a mostly full thrower since it will take the appropriate number of spanners out of the bag leaving any that don't fit.
if u have already built this forwards then built it backwards after already having it together it will empty as the circuit is possitivly charged. u need to reset the cables, reader and hurler which envolves a keypad attached to everything and running a zero current through the cables. or buy all new stuff and try again
Each damage point takes ~17 seconds, if you have your panel set to 2 durability repair it should last around 1666 seconds, or just under 28 minutes, with 20 spanners in all spanner launchers, you can run the whole thing for just about 9 hours and 20 minutes completely by itself i would reccomend checking on it every so often though, just in case something happens
yeah i normally give it 8 hours then fill everything back up. but since this is fro m2.0 u can now chuck a conveyor belt under your spanner storage and leave tool bags on the belt for longer lasting repair tool section
@@Hybridsteel Thats pretty cool, i might do that, thought it would certainly take a while to set up in a way that works. maybe i could find a way to set up a logic timer for the conveyors, even better a gate that only lets a bag through when the spanners get below a certain point!
what happens if you have more then 1 filter on one segment? did you repair all 4 filters at once? or maby 2 autorepairer on both sides to repair 2 of em in one go so you dont need a really big autorepair line?
u have a cork somewhere in ur line or a loop or piping... the other case is if your in creative mode then you have placed a pipe inside of another pipe
Question: I did separate logic circuits for each filter. I had a lot of trouble getting them to work properly. They kept throwing the spanners at the filter until the unit was empty. Does it matter when assembling that the wire colours match at each connector? I redid the circuits several times to finally get them to work yet I don't know what was causing the problem. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
hey mike no the colours on the wires dont matter but if you put the reader on the line first then it charges the circuit before the thrower gets added which keeps the thrower constantly working.
@@Hybridsteel Hi Hybrid, I can only get 4 out of the five logic circuits to work. I built them as you stated in the video from spanner unit to reader. The one that didn't work was the first one in line from the inlet so I moved it to the other side of the filters as in this position it needs to be repaired the least and yet it still does not work. I changed the filter unit too hoping it would correct the problem but no luck. Oh well, chock it up to the quirkiness of the game. Looking forward to our next stream/video. Take Care.
Really nice.. I might try to build the 2nd version of this.. I get a vision in my head in how this will work.. question is.. will that work what is in my head or not haha.. great video mate..
for what i know, no it doesnt fix multiple filters so ud have to build around the whole lot but at that point its gonna need a fair few squares around the filter.
@@Hybridsteel ok i was tweaking with my logic system and figured out i had the wrong AB routing. something caused my system to fire 12 out at once from 15 hurling units. That was an expensive mistake haha
Question, I followed this setup but for some reason as soon as I add any repair kits the spanner immediately uses them all up even if the filter is at 100%. Did something change with the new DLC?
you built it forwards and not backwards. you have to build it hurler first and work towards the reader and add the flip hook on the side of the cicuit.
@@Hybridsteel Thank you and apologies, turns out my dumb brain had me pick up the "Diode Hook" instead of the correct "Flip Hook". Works like a charm now.
im trying this at the moment but I cannot interact with they keypad. ive tried pressing the x first to clear the 0 value but cant get any life out of it. any ideas?
its a cliche but have you tried exiting the game completelly and reloading the game this seems to be the first rull of hydroneer if it doesnt work try turning it off and back on again
@@Hybridsteel thank you for the reply. Tbh my auto repair setup wasnt working right anyway so I completely dismantled it all and rebuilt it and everything now works!! I still dont know what caused it, Im just grateful it works. Thank you again and keep up with the great content.
for anyone wanting to know set up the individual setup cause the my filters in order from the time the first one hits %10 the 5 sit on order at 10/31/51/70/90 then if I let it repair the first its 100/23/45/67/89 if you dont mind replacing all the wrenches more often then need use the repair all at once or just reload the first 2 more often cause the last 3 won't need that many
t1 can go down to 8 blocks deep and t2 goes down to 14 deep we donthave t3 so u cant go all the way down just yet but yes the deeper the bigger the ore
thanks hybrid, i tried setting up an auto repair system like this (singular for each filter) but i built it like you said from start (detector) to end (repair unit) and it was not working for me either, was driving me nuts for like 3 hours lol. now i know to build backwards going to fix it now. thanks again
Hello again... can u maybe suggest to the devs an ingame tutorial on logic? i think most people are just intimidated by it and dont see how it 'fits together'
Does this build still work? I mean after today's update. I've just build a bunch of repair setups that use flip-flop. But as soon as the filter breaks the hurling just spends all of the spanners. And the filter doesn't get repaired.
I feel there is not a lot of value in the more complicated setup. I get 0 downtime and no damage in the rest of my system when I set it up without the counter thingy. I ended up setting mine up in a series of 5 durability scanners because I really dislike waste (the satisfactory in me I suppose). I am about to start playing with the weight reader to let me know when I have enough cloudium to build another t2 drill. I would love to see your take on the concept if you have the time.
I made it work and then it stopped working for half the drills . i rebuild it all, it all works again until you reload the game and then some drills just don't repair even the repair gun is triggering. Its a neat System but kinda besides the point when you have to rebuilt it at least ever other day. Any ideas? i am almost thinking repairing 20+ drills within the same Tick might cause some of them to not get repaired. I am going to try and put a 1 second delay after like every 5th drill or so.
so they keep the filters running so the machines dont get damaged with hard water.. filters are from shops 1 in bridgepour and burnscroft which is round the corner from ember cradle.
@@Hybridsteel so I bullied it backwards and and doesn’t repair the broke one and when I take the logic that looks like a reverse Uno card then all of them go at once
New subscriber here. Great videos. I setup the auto repair x5, in reverse like you said with the equals tee, keypad setup. And flip hook. As soon as I fired up, it dispersed all 100 toolkits almost instantly. Messed around and removed that flip hook, and now it works fine as its supposed to without it. Updated maybe, or just quirky? Thanks again for all you do
ok so the one with the keypad doesnt need the flip hook mainly coz the a/b equals is the signal pusher on the basic setup the flip hook is needed as there is no other control
I like to bury the entire circuit other than the spanner thrower and the durability display panel a block below the surface and then cover it with flooring. It just starts making your builds look so hideous and goofy when you start getting all kinds of the absurdly huge logic cables running all over the place.
nice going.. i tend to just build basic but honestly i dont spend enough time in 1 save to really worry about anything.. this save is nearly full of crap time to reload and go back to an empty plot basically. thankfully i just relaod my saves from another folder.
Hopefully we’ll get some non-creative mode items that will allow us to keep machines running infinitely, or at least a repair system that doesn’t require any babysitting.
u could jump into creative and use the infinte filter from the shops it means no babysitting. been in the game for a little while as well. u cna also get the hourglass and other items and then put them into a normal game just remove them from the shop first drop them outside the shop then reload the save in non creative.
@@TyranntX creative mode is legit as ur adding things into normal but apart from the above example of logic nope there wont be anything like that in normal mode not like the infinite filter.
This system takes up SOO much room as simple as it is. I've been dying to find a more compact process of this that allows something simple and not clustered that can fit deep underground *cough cough mildews aquifer cough* but i just cant think of or find a system that does full capacity filtering while also managing to not take up such a boat load of space, if you could find something like that it would help my game play greatly.
theres is nothing more compact u are using the bare minimum cables for the circuit downside to mildew nowerdays its for smaller builds if you dont like mildew then move so u can build a bit bigger
at that popint ud have to have 4 spanner throwers aimed at one pipe and be happy repairing them all at the same time.. downside its a big build which is the downer to having multiple filters on 1 pipe
I want to keep it simple so I used that first set up, one for each filter. When the first one reached 0 it used 18 spanners before it stopped. So it looks like it's not working well enough. I'll have to try to find a more foolproof setup. Edit: The second one used 6 before stopping. I'm suspecting some sort of delay for the reader to read that the filter is fixed so it keeps using spanners. Is there some sort of more advanced set up that is more fool-proof? Maybe using a flip-flop or delay timer? I couldn't find one When I searched. Edit 2: The 1 second delay fixed my issue if anyone else is having the same problem.
If u build it backwards from the thrower to the reader it will work. If u build it reader first then it charges the circuit and throws everything. Also did u put the flip hook on
@@Hybridsteel I did build it backwards and I did include the Flip hook. Just to be clear, it does work. It does the repair when the durability reaches 0 but it uses a bunch of spanners before it stops. I suspect a performance issue. Maybe it takes too long for it to realise it has been repaired. I've been running them with the 1 sec delay since yesterday and they are supper efficient.
Does anyone run a separate unfiltered water line for things that don't need repairing? Probably only worth it for filling trucks, but maybe there are other things that don't take damage.
unfilltered water line is good for belts plpus side to running ur own line for belts is when u turn the drills off u can clean up better or if your building big its a good way on controlling the lag
make the circuit backwards.. promethian said to me was if its firing randomly the signal in the cables is still active so u need to dismantle it and start again and add the reader last
@@Hybridsteel Yep, that did it. Took the whole thing apart and rebuilt and it worked immediately. I know you mentioned it in the video. I guess I didn't realize it meant taking it down completely and starting over. Thanks for the resposne!
I built the exact same setup but when my filter hits zero the spanned thrower just keeps throwing the spanners out but it’s not fixing the filter. Does anyone know why this is happening? It would be a real help
if youwatch the whole video i mention if you build ti forwards and the reader first the signal will charge the line and it will constantly throw the spanner out. u have to build the circuit backwards and the reader last
did you build it reader first then put the spanner thrower on it as thats probably the issue as soon as the reader gets added it sets the signal off which will cause the thrower to empty itself
@@Hybridsteel i followed your vid and put the reader on last , ill mess with it a bit. Also ill tear it all down and rebuild it. I saw diesel latest vid and like his setup. Ty for the quick reply!
Interestingly enough, after I made my comment I closed the game down with the filter broken. I loaded the game up just now and I first removed the flip logic hook and put it back, and then it immediately worked correctly. No idea what happened.
Reason you got build it backwards because like you said it set to 0 not on 1 if you build it other way it starts on 1 because reader is starting on 1 but needs be set to 0 going backwards forces everything to set on 0..
@@Hybridsteel umm got to be something in the code forcing it to be one there two factors the interaction with anther object like the reader looking at the pipe or the counter it self just saying that's what it sounds like..
I built this and it didn't work. I used the single loop logic with an elbow instead of the T to just toss it at a single drill machine and once the drill machine reaches zero the spanner thrower throws too many spanners. It throws at least 3 spanners out when the thing gets to zero instead of just one. Too wasteful.
ok so the reason why that probably happened is the reader loaded the circuit.. take it apart then build from the thrower then build it so the reader is the last part u add to the circuit
thats really interesting. coz iv built this live and it didnt shoot loads out... best thing to do then is get into creative mode and dupe the circuit with the wand and remove the whole lot. its really odd though might be good to show the workings on the official discord
A genuinely helpful video. The first "Beginner's guide" I found looking for help wasnt beginner friendly at all. Then I see this, precisely what I needed, glowing in the recommendeds
thanks for watching matey hopfully this helps through ur time on hydroneer
just got back into the game, and its been a few years since my last game. the last update i played was the introduction of the 1st ever gem compressor. so its was a long time ago. thanks for this vids it really helps a lot. and for that a sub.
glad it could help thanks for leaving a comment it means a lot
Because of this guide, i was able to finally automate repairs. I had already automated everything else but repairs annoyed me. Now with this i can literally let the game run and itll run my whole set up of about 16 punch drills
Can confirm, filter needs to be placed on the side that faces the Spanner Launcher. Works great. Thanks mate 😊
ok, I do understand that everyone can do as they please, and that you're fine with a single circuit for all the repairs.
but for those interested,
each filters reduce the damage taken by the machine by 20% right ?
but "machine" is not only for the stuff you create at the forge. it also applies to the filters.
so, let's say you have 2 filters. by the time the first one hits 0% durability, the second one will have lost 80% of its durability. (whilst the other machines after the 2 filters will have lost 60% of theirs.)
now, with 5 filters:
when the first one hits 0, the second will hit 20, third 40, fourth 60 fifth 80.
now let's say you only repair the first one:
you're now at 100 - 20 - 40 - 60 - 80
the next time you need to fix something, it will be the 2nd filter. and you'll have the durability :
75 - 0 - 25 - 50 - 75
next is fixing the 3rd:
33 - 66,4 - 0 - 33,2 - 66,6 (aproximates)
etc. (not super clear, I know, and probably not enough in depth, but the conclusion still stands)
next time the first one needs to be fixed, you'll be left with durability (with amount of times already fixed): 100 (2) - 40 (1) - 80 (1) - 20 (0) - 60 (0)
anyway, by the time you need to fix the last filter, you've fixed the first one 4 times, the second one 3, the third, 2 and the fourth once.
so using individual circuits will make you use 10 instead of 25 you would use by fixing them all at once.
yepp. i have a friend who left his build running for 8 hours. the first filter had used 12 spanners filter 2 had used 9 filter 3 had used 6, filter 4 had used 3 and the fifth filter 1
So, do you need five filters to guarrantee nothing takes damage on the piping system?
Yes
@@Hybridsteel do they all have to be in a line or could there be 4 filters on 1 pipe aND 1 ON THE NEXT
It's very appreciated.
it does yes but if you repair ur filters u wont need to repair ur builds
Thx, very helpful
Love your work and look forward to more of your videos.
i built it live on a stream in front of 1000 people built it from spanner hurler to reader and it works properly
probably because i do other things and games and honestly i know some things i do people dont like so i get it.. but thanks for returning
I tried really hard, bought a ton of items I have to now store somewhere, but I'm sure I'll use them. ;)
Next, I'm automating gem production.
Plus I had the space and the money.
so 5 filters is all thats needed the 6th filter wont get damaged until the first one breaks fully
Yeah that's what I do too, just copy and paste the design 5 time. More accurate and simpler than...that.
Been a while since I needed this so I was very happy to have it bookmarked. Still works like a charm, thanks for the video and all the time you invest. Been working on the Volcalidus DLC and enjoying your current video's and streams. 👍
glad it still helping thanks for watching it means a lot
Superlative explanation. Very crisp, clean, and friendly. Thank you! :)
thank you for watching and even leaving a comment means a lot
This helped me so much, great Guide super simple.
Not the first and not the last Guide i will be looking up on this Channel. 🖤
thank you for watching and leaving a comment have a great day
Thank you! I have been playing a lot of Stationeers, that will definitely help with the logic. 15 hrs in this game. Thumbs up and subbed, thanks!
just getting back into the game after the 2.0 update and your guides/ tricks are helping a lot. keep up the vids!
im trying man got loads to come hopfully
Your channel gives me serious Mumbo Jumbo vibes! He’s a very popular Minecraft UA-camr who messes with redstone, very similar to the way you are messing with logic in Hydroneer.
this is as much logic a si can mess with im not great at it so i hope my friend can do what is needed
Thank you so much for the video, building "backwards" was instrumental in 100% first time success, especially as someone who is "days new" to this game and still calling Ember Cradle "home".
not a problem
I just´ve had the AHA moment and suddenly understood everything. If you´d put the delay switches in between the repair thingies it would work cheaper. Here I come Icehelm, going to fully automate it. Thanks a lot.
Not a problem glad I could help
Legend dude you’ve carried me through this game
Ive had my repair system working fine. Came back the next day and loaded up to the sound of 15+ spinners being unloaded from 5 spanned throwers
It's the flip flop. Take it off and everything will be fine
I just have mine setup where they are repaired at a durability of 3 individually
yeah so u can make this circuit 5 times so each filter has its own repair tool so u can fire them on single basis
Going to test that out 👍
Ur best just having 1 intake as it doesn't do anything adding multiple intakes
All I can imagine is also the button thing with logic as well. That's why I asked about this topic. Thanks a lot and I'll try to check tiered dirt with different mining sets. I wonder how big their difference is but that's exactly the charm of this game.
you can link the dura reader to a logic valve as a failsafe to turn off the water so if you run out of spanners the machines down the line dont get damage
When a filter breaks it blocks the pipe. It basically is in itself an emergency shutoff.
Great videos, just one detail I don't like about triggering multiple repairers in one go: The first filter gets damaged much faster then the later ones, so you waste many repair-items if you always repair all in one go. I guess this drawback is worth to mention (And even with the cost of spanners being neglectable late in the game, it still makes a difference, if you have to carry 20 or 15 sets of spanners for every refill)
u can make this cable only focus on 1 filter and make 5 seperate circuits to repair when they are needed
@@Hybridsteel yea we know it’s just that we think your one is kinda inefficient
thats fine u do what u like mine works for what i need it as i reset this game so many times its not worth doing anything else.
== is a comparative operator. "if A equals B" then do something. It doesn't add A and B, it compares them. Hope that helps!
over my head that mate honestly logic isnt my strong point as u can see
Sooo. It outputs 0 unless A equals B. No wonder you struggle so much with logic; this isn't logical. I expected it to do nothing unless A matched B. Frustrating.
This video is sent from heaven
glad to see this! i litterally just searched for this, and this is perfect!
all good thanks for watching honestly i should have done it sooner but busy
I've build a simple auto repair system and the issue I have is that the spanner thrower is dumping all 20 spanners in one go when it breaks. Have you come across this have i done something daft?
u built it forwards, u placed the reader first which primes the circuit, if you take it apart and build it backwards to reader last ur be fine as long as u added the flip flop cable attachment as well.
Wow, I am really impressed by your great videos! I don't think it will take long for you to get big on UA-cam. Thanks for your helping videos!
we shall see its taken a few years to get to this point so onwards and upwards
I have a question about something that Im about to try myself. But i figured id ask so others can see too. you can have multiple filters on one pipe. Question is: What read-out and what repairs go to which filters if you have the filters around one pipe?
yes u can use miltippe filters on 1 line.
it degrades the same as having 4 filters on 4 pipes...... bu u do need 5 filters for fully filtered water.
the main downside to it is setting up the auto repair
Have you figured out how to make a ingot farm? or a way to atleast plumb a logic ingot smelter to make ingots?
U can do that using the auto smelter some logic and a counter. But that's beyond me
@@Hybridsteel Thx my guy
this still helps i set it up on each filter works perfectly thanks
thanks for finding the video and leaving a comment means a lot
Do i need to put my drills low in the ground or is it enough to take a shovel from deep down and place it under the drill?
u cant put deep soil under a top level soil dril soil takes the properties of dirt where it is placed so it will turn into whatever soil it is where it rests so t3 soil can become t1 soil if you move it to that dpeth...... downside theres no t3 tools its an exmaple
@@Hybridsteel thanks. I just started playing. It is much to learn but ur videos has been very helpful
So do filters completely prevent my machines from breaking or do I need repair for them too.
they prevent everything on a water line...... this means ur auto smelters need to have their own circuit up as the auto smelter breaks
@@Hybridsteel Do I need a specific amount of filters or 1 is enough
This was perfect!! I last night I literally bought all the parts to build a circuit basically similar to your layout. (Second one) I was planning on doing it for drills and then one for the filter lines. I do have a (probably stupid) question about pumps. If I add a second pump and plumb it in to my main line along with the primary pump, does that add to pressure or does pressure just remain 100%? Yes I know it probably sounds stupid but I’m fairly new to the game and just got a small mining system setup.
Hmmm. So is there no way to automate repair if you have multiple filters to a pipe? Or would this work still? I haven't touched logic yet, but I've been running 4 filters on the first pipe, 1 on the next, purely for the compactness.
this is the only way to automate repair as u cant make ur own spanners so this is as good as it gets
@@Hybridsteel :P I see where that was asked below, but that wasn't my question ;)
If you place 4 filters on a single pipe, is the logic able to read and trigger repairs? I assume it repairs all 4 at once? Curious, because I do it that way for compactness, 5 filters attached to 2 pipes instead of 5 and 5.
so in order to have this setup on one pipe would need a lot of messing about and i dont think the logistics are there
I've made something like that.
A solution for it might be to use more then or equals junction
maybe but iv never had that issue
@@Hybridsteel good for you, it tends to only happen when fps drops really low, less then 10, at least it my case
Also don't worry about wasting a bag on a mostly full thrower since it will take the appropriate number of spanners out of the bag leaving any that don't fit.
thanks for commenting people will find this useful
Trying this and even built it backwards like u said and when I hooked it up it just drained all my repair kits... Help lol
if u have already built this forwards then built it backwards after already having it together it will empty as the circuit is possitivly charged. u need to reset the cables, reader and hurler which envolves a keypad attached to everything and running a zero current through the cables.
or buy all new stuff and try again
Each damage point takes ~17 seconds, if you have your panel set to 2 durability repair it should last around 1666 seconds, or just under 28 minutes, with 20 spanners in all spanner launchers, you can run the whole thing for just about 9 hours and 20 minutes completely by itself
i would reccomend checking on it every so often though, just in case something happens
yeah i normally give it 8 hours then fill everything back up.
but since this is fro m2.0 u can now chuck a conveyor belt under your spanner storage and leave tool bags on the belt for longer lasting repair tool section
@@Hybridsteel Thats pretty cool, i might do that, thought it would certainly take a while to set up in a way that works. maybe i could find a way to set up a logic timer for the conveyors, even better a gate that only lets a bag through when the spanners get below a certain point!
Blitz gave you a shout out in his latest hydroneer video. Not sure if you saw it yet.
yeah man i saw it it was a big moment for me honestly
what happens if you have more then 1 filter on one segment? did you repair all 4 filters at once? or maby 2 autorepairer on both sides to repair 2 of em in one go so you dont need a really big autorepair line?
u would need 4 spanner throwers running at each filter
My conveyor belt keeps starting and stopping any solution to fix this
u have a cork somewhere in ur line or a loop or piping... the other case is if your in creative mode then you have placed a pipe inside of another pipe
Im not sure why but it never stops throwing spanners so i constently losing spaners when its at 99 driability
did you set it up forwards, so the reader first.. as if you did this it means you possitively charged the circuit before adding the hurler.
Great! Now a fully automatic smelter system ;)
Thats what i want to see. you where the first one on the internet.
i think promethian is dealing with that i cant figure it out since the last time honestly
In Hydroneer 2.2 I could only get the A>=B method working. The flip flop kept changing 0 to 1 every second. Built it 4 times.
did you place the filters up or sideways?
Can i auto repair my drills or harverters and how?
u would set this same thing up to do that job.. but if you have the filters on ur pipe work and the auto repair setup ur machines wont take any damage
Now this is a Wayback Wednesday!
What if I have multiple filters on the same pipe.? Does it repair all the filters on the same pipe or just one of them?
for what i know, no it doesnt fix multiple filters so ud have to build around the whole lot but at that point its gonna need a fair few squares around the filter.
I dont have to repair my stuff because of you thank you so much
its all good matey
are the repairs supposed to be 1 spanner = 100% repaired like they would normally or are hurling units supposed to use more at a time
it supposed to be 1 at a time
@@Hybridsteel ok i was tweaking with my logic system and figured out i had the wrong AB routing. something caused my system to fire 12 out at once
from 15 hurling units.
Works like a charm now.
is there an advantage for doing this instead of just using a == block with a custom number pad input going into B?
i dont know.... my lack of knowledge on this is silly i really should learn it but iv never got the time
im trying this at the moment but I cannot interact with they keypad. ive tried pressing the x first to clear the 0 value but cant get any life out of it. any ideas?
its a cliche but have you tried exiting the game completelly and reloading the game this seems to be the first rull of hydroneer if it doesnt work try turning it off and back on again
@@Hybridsteel thank you for the reply. Tbh my auto repair setup wasnt working right anyway so I completely dismantled it all and rebuilt it and everything now works!! I still dont know what caused it, Im just grateful it works. Thank you again and keep up with the great content.
Your the best hydroneer youtuber
Im subbed
thank you
Every game has someone who's the GOAT. Space Engineers has Splitsie. Satisfactory has Imkibitz. Hydroneer has this bearded god among men.
for anyone wanting to know set up the individual setup cause the my filters in order from the time the first one hits %10 the 5 sit on order at 10/31/51/70/90 then if I let it repair the first its 100/23/45/67/89 if you dont mind replacing all the wrenches more often then need use the repair all at once or just reload the first 2 more often cause the last 3 won't need that many
i have a video coming out about filter durability and how quick the break, also have a photo of an 8 hour test
If I attach 4 filters on one pipe do I need to point a spanner thrower on each filter?
ud need to have a thrower aimed at each filter
If I build the drill at the deepest ground, can it get bigger ore? 🥰
t1 can go down to 8 blocks deep and t2 goes down to 14 deep we donthave t3 so u cant go all the way down just yet but yes the deeper the bigger the ore
@@Hybridsteel Thank you! Is it work if I put t1 dirt under t1 drill at 14 deep?
@@Hybridsteel Or 8 blocks deep is bigger than above ground?
so if you move dirt from bottom to top the dirt will take the properties of the top level

thanks hybrid, i tried setting up an auto repair system like this (singular for each filter) but i built it like you said from start (detector) to end (repair unit) and it was not working for me either, was driving me nuts for like 3 hours lol. now i know to build backwards going to fix it now. thanks again
my friend promethian taught me that
@@Hybridsteel well tell him from me mate, he's a bloody god send for this fix job.
i built mine starting with the sensor and it worked fine. weird.
Great info thanks I found that if the filter is already broken it will not fix it .Was thinking the system need the 1 to 0 to fix it.
best way i got round that was to repair all filters before activating the auto repair.... i should have mentioend that in this video acctually.
what button did you press to hold the spanners further away?
u hold down ur action button default is E
@@Hybridsteel Thank you
Hello again... can u maybe suggest to the devs an ingame tutorial on logic? i think most people are just intimidated by it and dont see how it 'fits together'
devs arnt doing tutorials thats down to people like me who make videos basicallly. so we are ur guides
My setup is always using the tool bag before I’ve even walked away from it 🤷🏻♀️
Does this build still work? I mean after today's update. I've just build a bunch of repair setups that use flip-flop. But as soon as the filter breaks the hurling just spends all of the spanners. And the filter doesn't get repaired.
i made this build today this doesnt use flip flop it uses just flip hook
@@Hybridsteel Oh, sorry. Flip hook is what I've meant.
Okay. Restarting the game fixed the issue. >_
I would love to see your take on the concept if you have the time.
simplicity is my key to life hence this build
again, mate..you help us a lot with your videos! keep it up
im nearlly done with the basics now
Here's a comment for the algorithm. Have a good day, sir!
thanks for helping the algorithm
I made it work and then it stopped working for half the drills . i rebuild it all, it all works again until you reload the game and then some drills just don't repair even the repair gun is triggering. Its a neat System but kinda besides the point when you have to rebuilt it at least ever other day.
Any ideas? i am almost thinking repairing 20+ drills within the same Tick might cause some of them to not get repaired. I am going to try and put a 1 second delay after like every 5th drill or so.
re do the circuit and make it backwards. 2.0.5 just came out that fixes a lot of ogic if that helps
Thank you very much for this video and help guide and it has also been added to my list.
Also you're a cool person and my God you talk fast, lol.
I can talk faster
so do they fix machines? im confused
and where do you get filters (i got this 2 days ago)
so they keep the filters running so the machines dont get damaged with hard water.. filters are from shops 1 in bridgepour and burnscroft which is round the corner from ember cradle.
but can i put more spanners on the simple one?@@Hybridsteel
i dont want to buy more for it to not work
@@Hybridsteel
u can add 20 spanners to each hurler
@@Keatereat
Any thing changed since then because I can’t get it to wolr
nothings changed but what do u means its not working?
@@Hybridsteel so I bullied it backwards and and doesn’t repair the broke one and when I take the logic that looks like a reverse Uno card then all of them go at once
is the filter looking at the hurler like in the thumbnail so to one side instead of straight up?
@@Hybridsteel what is a hurler
the hurler is the thing u put the spanners in
New subscriber here.
The best, thanks again for helping out
I like to bury the entire circuit other than the spanner thrower and the durability display panel a block below the surface and then cover it with flooring.
@@Hybridsteel like I said, hopefully there will come something like that so I won’t have to do that. Something legit 😉
@@TyranntX creative mode is legit as ur adding things into normal but apart from the above example of logic nope there wont be anything like that in normal mode not like the infinite filter.
This system takes up SOO much room as simple as it is. I've been dying to find a more compact process of this that allows something simple and not clustered that can fit deep underground *cough cough mildews aquifer cough* but i just cant think of or find a system that does full capacity filtering while also managing to not take up such a boat load of space, if you could find something like that it would help my game play greatly.
theres is nothing more compact u are using the bare minimum cables for the circuit downside to mildew nowerdays its for smaller builds if you dont like mildew then move so u can build a bit bigger
so what about multiple filters on one pipe?
at that popint ud have to have 4 spanner throwers aimed at one pipe and be happy repairing them all at the same time..
downside its a big build which is the downer to having multiple filters on 1 pipe
Interesting stuff man , do you also have any crafting guids , I don't know how to do Any of it 😅
i can do a simple anvil tutorial
@@Hybridsteel that would be awesom mate 👌
Thxn exactly what ill need it ❤
yea i had i that knowledge of well the old one still cinda need a to just put the reefresh button. ._.
Awesome work around my friend very odd u were having the issue
Does anyone run a separate unfiltered water line for things that don't need repairing? Probably only worth it for filling trucks, but maybe there are other things that don't take damage.
unfilltered water line is good for belts plpus side to running ur own line for belts is when u turn the drills off u can clean up better or if your building big its a good way on controlling the lag
I can't get the simple setup to work. It just keeps firing spanners even when it's at 100%. Tried placing the sensor last, no dice.
make the circuit backwards.. promethian said to me was if its firing randomly the signal in the cables is still active so u need to dismantle it and start again and add the reader last
@@Hybridsteel Yep, that did it. Took the whole thing apart and rebuilt and it worked immediately. I know you mentioned it in the video. I guess I didn't realize it meant taking it down completely and starting over. Thanks for the resposne!
4:11 I see what you did there ;)
yeah i cut the second out
I built the exact same setup but when my filter hits zero the spanned thrower just keeps throwing the spanners out but it’s not fixing the filter. Does anyone know why this is happening? It would be a real help
if youwatch the whole video i mention if you build ti forwards and the reader first the signal will charge the line and it will constantly throw the spanner out. u have to build the circuit backwards and the reader last
@@Hybridsteel just fixed it now it works perfectly thnx for the tip!
I built the first simple setup. It reads ok and shoots the spanners correctly but it doesnt repair the filter , it just shoots out all the spanners
did you build it reader first then put the spanner thrower on it as thats probably the issue as soon as the reader gets added it sets the signal off which will cause the thrower to empty itself
@@Hybridsteel i followed your vid and put the reader on last , ill mess with it a bit. Also ill tear it all down and rebuild it. I saw diesel latest vid and like his setup. Ty for the quick reply!
I have the same exact issue and I added the reader last. :(
Interestingly enough, after I made my comment I closed the game down with the filter broken. I loaded the game up just now and I first removed the flip logic hook and put it back, and then it immediately worked correctly. No idea what happened.
Sounds like it tech help desk have tried turning it off and back on.
Reason you got build it backwards because like you said it set to 0 not on 1 if you build it other way it starts on 1 because reader is starting on 1 but needs be set to 0 going backwards forces everything to set on 0..
yeah promithian explained the signal to me but im honestly a moron when it comes to logic
@@Hybridsteel oh yah but just saying they can fix it they just have reprogram the reader always start on 0 instead of 1 heh
we tried that last night and it didnt work which confused the crap out of us
@@Hybridsteel umm got to be something in the code forcing it to be one there two factors the interaction with anther object like the reader looking at the pipe or the counter it self just saying that's what it sounds like..
Can you automate the building of 🔧? And can you read the number of 🔧 in the thrower? Then you should be able to automate the whole thing.
Are you asking if you can automate building fixing wrenches?
Yeah, basically with the 2 things I said you can automate the entire system (craft wrenches if less than 10 in thrower)
well nope coz we cant make spanners
That's disappointing, I remember in the last update you could (from the ship) but I noticed it was gone, so I guess I'm not surprised.
i have followed this and it just keeps throwing the spanners out non stop any ideas would be helpful
pllease pay attention to 3:16 explains why your having issues
i have bulit it bacwards i just quit and saved and opened it up again
see what happens
@@Hybridsteel saving and quitting fixed the issue thankyou bud
@@shortysrandomvids8752 good to hear matey
Is there any video where you explain how the other logic wires work (AB+, AB-, etc...)?
check promethean gaming he is supopsed o be working on logic
thank you, helped me out a lot.
not a problem matey
I built this and it didn't work. I used the single loop logic with an elbow instead of the T to just toss it at a single drill machine and once the drill machine reaches zero the spanner thrower throws too many spanners. It throws at least 3 spanners out when the thing gets to zero instead of just one. Too wasteful.
ok so the reason why that probably happened is the reader loaded the circuit.. take it apart then build from the thrower then build it so the reader is the last part u add to the circuit
@@Hybridsteel I followed ur directions explicitly, starting with the spanner tosser and ending with the reader.
@@Hybridsteel I had to end up putting a wait timer inline before the thrower for it to stop throwing multiple wrenches every time the drill broke down
thats really interesting. coz iv built this live and it didnt shoot loads out... best thing to do then is get into creative mode and dupe the circuit with the wand and remove the whole lot. its really odd though might be good to show the workings on the official discord
