And Thorin Oakenshield had his final redemption. A true KING. PD: In the theatrical version, scenes like Thorin´s funeral, weren´t included in the footage. That was a real shame. We only saw these scenes in the extended version later.

Yeah. In the book, you have to remember this is like a fairytale with a lesson. In the book, thorin doesnt get his redemption until he meets with Bilbo as he's dying. So during the battle of the five armies, he was still being a jerk and greedy. The message was, "look at how greed literally killed a man who would be king and his two heirs".

Tolkien goes fuckin' hard: "In that last hour Beorn himself had appeared - no one knew how or from where. He came alone, and in bear's shape; and he seemed to have grown almost to giant-size in his wrath. The roar of his voice was like drums and guns; and he tossed wolves and goblins from his path like straws and feathers. He fell upon their rear, and broke like a clap of thunder through the ring. The dwarves were making a stand still about their lords upon a low rounded hill. Then Beorn stooped and lifted Thorin, who had fallen pierced with spears, and bore him out of the fray. Swiftly he returned and his wrath was redoubled, so that nothing could withstand him, and no weapon seemed to bite upon him. He scattered the bodyguard, and pulled down Bolg himself and crushed him. Then dismay fell on the Goblins and they fled in all directions."

His killing Bolg is the best kill in all the Tolkein films. Stabbed in the skull, falls 500 feet and then a big chunk of masonry lands on him. Now THAT is dead.
I heard Jerry talking about how its cool how alot of fantasy stories use the similar races, magic, and lore. A lot of media like GOT, Elden Ring, and other fantasy stories take huge influence from LOTR thats why it all seems somewhat similar. LOTR books came out in the 50's and it was one of the first pieces of fiction to ever do this genre of storytelling this well.
A suggestion: after you watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy, come back and listen to the song in the credits The Last Goodbye sung by one of the hobbit actors in the LOTR trilogy Billy Boyd. It’s so beautiful! And a nice tribute to the 6 movies ❤ the artwork in the credits is awesome too
just so you guys have some context for the next movie, Frodo, bilbo's nephew is 50 years old during the fellowship of the ring, aside from majority of humans, most races in tolkien's lore can get really old, most of those dwarves must be around 100 years old or more

"They must be like a thing in the original series" lmao no, the elf girl and Kili romance is total made up fanfiction by the movie studio, the female elf doesn't even exist in the books
Sorry, but I gotta say: Watching these movies before LotR is a mistake. The way many of these characters are introduced and shown builds on the assumption that you know them already.
Out of order again 😢y’all not going to get the feel and gonna have so many questions for lord of the rings. Should have done that first then the hobbit series. Messed this up
Agree, don’t they have people warning them about the correct order? They did the same thing with SW, watching prequels before original episodes. Disappointing.
NO. Of course the only right order is to watch The Hobbit first and follow the time line LOTR is The Hobbit sequal. Just because LOTR came into Theaters first is no reason to watch that first. This group here are watching exact right order follow the time line otherwise you miss too much of the story. Always first The Hobbit and then LOTR. Do you read books also starting on the last page? You aren't very clever are you?

Gross dude, absolutely heinous opinion.
Gandalf knew Bilbo found some kind of magic ring but he did not know that is the Ring of Power.
Every one of those rings is a Ring Of Power, it's merely Bilbo's/Frodo's ring that was even more than that - the One Ring to Rule Them All.
I can't wait for Lord of the Rings!
