You are right, that was a mistake! That was a slide left over from a previous video and it is incorrect. All the examples use integers, so I kept the video up despite this mistake.
Thanks so much. I came back home thinking " easy homework, " and later forgot how to do it and struggled. And just like that I ended up here. Thank you sooooo much man! ;)
hello Eric @9:37 u said change the sign sign to + if there's negative signs. Let say the question is 7 - (-10) Do I still change the sign? if so 7 +10 = 17? is that correct? that's where i get really confuse :(.......
If it is cubed and you know the number, multiply it times itself 3 times, then take the original sign. Example (-2)^3 means (-2)(-2)(-2) which will give you -8.
The only place I have worksheets with answers is on the 6th grade course I created. Here's the link: simplifyacademy.thinkific.com/courses/Fill-the-gaps-Grade-6
This the thing, I can't use a number line. Don't ask why! & when my mom teaches me she does it a different way as the book so I need an easier way of understanding the method. Anyway your video helped
Glad it helped. Sorry the number line didn't help. I do have a recent video called adding integers without a number line. You can check that one out. ua-cam.com/video/C7EPb4x4jqU/v-deo.html
Hi @ericbuffington! Thank you for a great video! Can you please tell me what software was used for the video editing? I am a teacher and would appreciate finding software like this for my students. Thank you.
Oh no! Thanks for pointing that out! I'm not sure why I said that... I'm going to make that change. I seriously don't know what I was thinking.... Must have been a brain fart of some kind. lol All the examples in the video only use integers, so the rest is good stuff. Thanks again!
Your right fractions and deimals are'nt integers, but it can be integer also.Everytime before you comment fix your grammar correctly, but thats good comment ty :)
Hello I'm watching your videos and getting so much information,, but in some problems I'm going to be bemused like ,,,,, (-2)-(-3) in this problem I don't understand that how to put these integers into number line. In zero sum model I got the -1 answer but in numbers line I'm confused .
Hello Eric I have a question how about if you have more than 2 numbers and they are different signs how would you know which sign to use in your answer and btw this video was so helpful Thankyou so much here comes your next subscriber!
If you are adding two numbers with different signs, you find the difference of the numbers (subtract) then your final answer has the sign of the larger number (ignoring signs) so if you are adding -100 + 2, you find the difference 100-2 = 98, then you take the sign of negative because 100 is larger than 2. (final answer is -98) Choosing the sign at the end can be tricky, so I like to ask myself, do I have more negatives or positives? It works the same with with more than two numbers. Personally, I join together all the positives, then I join together all the negatives, then add them together.
hi there, can u help me with this question; Q1. Write the integer which is 5 less than -2? im thinking it is either -3, or -7 , or =5n-2 , Q2. Find a number which is equal to 20 when 4 is added to it?
Then you'd need to rewrite it replacing the - (-9) with the opposite of (-9): Example if I had (-3) - (-2) I would rewrite as (-3) + 2 Hope that helps. Best of luck.
12.01 and -5.6 are not integers
You are right, that was a mistake! That was a slide left over from a previous video and it is incorrect. All the examples use integers, so I kept the video up despite this mistake.

Hi
Thanks so much. I came back home thinking " easy homework, " and later forgot how to do it and struggled. And just like that I ended up here. Thank you sooooo much man! ;)
You are very welcome! Glad to help!
Very well explained, so well explained that our teacher sent us the link in online classes so we could understand addition and subtraction of integer
Wow! That's pretty impressive! I hope your class enjoyed it! :)
@@EricBuffington yessss
You have made understanding this soooo much easier. My math teacher just couldn't explain it this well.
I'm glad the videos are helping! :)
If you are stupid don't blame your teacher
I just love it how this is 6 yrs old yet its still explains better than my school
At last this double negative subtraction makes sense. Now I can get a good night’s sleep. 😴
Good night! :)
lol true
Thank you so much! The first video that actually explained well! To be honest you explained way better than my teacher! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!😃

I like it this is first video that helped me to understand adding integers 😊
Glad you liked it
thank you very much it's really helpful for me today .

When you thought this I have understood correctly for this I don't need a tutor also thankyou so much for helping😍🤩🙃🙋👩🎓
You're welcome 😊
Hi Eric,
Thanks for this video. It helped me and my cousins a lot. You are so fun to listen to. I hope you can add more videos like this.
Thanks! :) I'm working on a couple more, definitely check out the playlists they are the most organized way to get similar videos.

Thank you. Stay blessed
yes, seeing it on the numberline is the best thing so thanks.
I thought that was a helpful visual. :) Glad you liked it.
Great video! it helped a LOT especially for note taking (especially since I'm preparing for a test) (Florida Standards Assessments, a.k.a FSA)

hello Eric
@9:37 u said change the sign sign to + if there's negative signs. Let say the question is 7 - (-10) Do I still change the sign? if so
7 +10 = 17?
is that correct?
that's where i get really confuse :(.......
Yes what you said is correct. If there is a double negative like that you change it to a positive. 7 - (-10) is 17. Good job!
Eric something I don't understand is
Changing an integer that is cubed
How do u do it
If it is cubed and you know the number, multiply it times itself 3 times, then take the original sign. Example (-2)^3 means (-2)(-2)(-2) which will give you -8.
Really Nice Explaination!
Glad you think so!
Thank you man. This helped me alot!
This is a challenging topic! Glad this was helpful!

GEMDAS INTEGERS NEXT!!!
What about when you do like -50 - 120 what would that be
You would join them together and keep the sign.
Well explained👍
Thanks! :)
Good teacher
Thank you! 😃
What about subtracting a positive, example -7-+3?
Subtracting a positive is just like subtracting. Just remove the +. It would be -7 - 3

(-2)-(-3) in this problem I don't understand that how to put these integers into number line.
In zero sum model I got the -1 answer but in numbers line I'm confused .
Some math problems are more difficult to put into a visual number line than others. That is a challenging one for sure.
Hello Eric I have a question how about if you have more than 2 numbers and they are different signs how would you know which sign to use in your answer and btw this video was so helpful Thankyou so much here comes your next subscriber!
