Yup. The majority of human knowledge is accumulated in books because it’s been around the longest and is generally better fact-checked when it comes to newer material. If you are curious about science, history, or general knowledge it’s just a fact that books are going to be the only way. Even some hands on hobbies. It’s weird when people get defensive about this…Obviously there are going to be some things that are better learned in a hands-on class or through video but…nothing is going to replace the nuance of text. Not to mention the affordability…
Oh that sounds sick. All I know about Tesla is from David Bowie’s performance in The Prestige and then from that one island in Poptropica way back in the day … so probably about time I learned some actual facts about his life :) thanks for sharing!
It’s also the action of it. The accomplishment you get out of reading and the workout you put your brain through. No matter what you read. I can’t even explain the amazing feeling of finishing a book but it’s the best. You accomplished something and learned something. And also there is definitely more information to be had in books as opposed to videos. It gives you a challenge rather then just sitting on your couch watching a video.
totally agree! if you’re curious or interested I put together a video awhile ago that partially deals with the effort it takes to read a book and why I think it’s worth it: thoreau, walden & ChatGPT // reasons to read ua-cam.com/video/Eyk_ncyY67U/v-deo.html I’d be curious for your thoughts :) thanks so much for watching!
I’ve been wanting to read more for the longest time and your channel is inspiring me to finally start! Thank you! Looking forward to your next videos. ☺
Great video! May I ask, do you take notes when you read or do you just read? I prefer just reading especially when its fiction but Im wondering if Im really learning when just ”reading” lets say non fiction
sometimes I take notes and sometimes I don’t, all depends! Most commonly I just keep a pen by me and underline or bracket sections I find really interesting. It lets me mark spots I want to revisit down the line but doesn’t interrupt my reading. occasionally I’ll write a note to myself in the margins. it’s just handy to have some pen marks in the book so if I come back to it in a year I can just flip through it and remember some main bits I loved without having to reread the whole thing (I do like rereading, but it’s time consuming). Thanks for watching!
not very philosophical or anything, but I've been considering to buy Serj Tankians memoir (of sorts), because. I like SOAD and I love his solo music and he seems like a person who has some interesting thoughts to share. but also I have so many books to read and I'm just not doing it (which is why I'm watching your videos, hi)
XD watching UA-cam videos about reading instead of reading is a guilty pleasure of mine. And I guess I let it grow into MAKING videos about reading… oops. thanks for watching!!
thanks so much! and I’ll make a video on that soon - this one is probably the closest to that topic so far: books are medicine, what are you sick with? // reasons to read ua-cam.com/video/NEghcL8O5ys/v-deo.html
This channel is becoming a comfort zone for me
And that is definitely not an exaggeration

Viva la Zlibrary!
This is excellent! I’ve been binging all your book videos. :)

Nicola Tesla "My Inventions" rocked my world. Also his biography Man Out Of Time is a good case of learning about someone.
