I'm reading a book "everthing is figureoutbale" I learn alot; make a prespectives everthing is figureoutbale if its not a fact/law and accidemtally learnt the correct way of thinking and most important recommended book (the war of art).. your videos are helpful. books in the shelves are more realistic instead in the soft form (true)

Hello Tim! I remember you mentioning Brothers Karamazov in your other video. I didn't decide to read that book (yet), BUT! I've decided to read The Idiot by Dostoyevsky! The copy I got was cheap, really! Only around 8 bucks (converted from my currency) and I'll be reading it after I finish a book called Tales from Left Pocket Second Pocket by Karel Čapek (I love this author!). If you would want to, check out his children's book Doggy and Kitty! The illustrations are very nice. My parents used to read it for me when I was a child. And, of course, great video! wow, i also started reading harry potter for the first time recently! I'm currently in the half blood prince, I started maybe 4 weeks ago with the first book (took a week break due to exams though) and honestly what you say resonates with me perfectly, i'd had a bit of a reading slump before harry potter as I was reading another book 'the associate' and was stuck on it for a month because I was never free enough to dedicate time to reading, but when I did I was on a roll and felt very productive after that reading harry potter also gave me the same feeling of excitement but also calmness

Few people might come across this, but I thank you so much. Life is being super busy right now (having classes from morning to noon almost every day) and that feeling of "I just wanting to relax!" has never been bigger. I got 2 books that, if I manage to find some time, I will love to fill up and share with you! One is "*Piranesi*", by Susanna Clarke. Although it isn't necessarily a though read, it is so unique that I wanna take a deeper dive into it, it requires a lot of imagination and apreciation of the simple. The other is "This is Not a Book", by Keri Smith. Well, she's the author or "Wreck this Journal", but this one is very unique. It makes me feel like I'm a child again, which comforts me a lot. It's like a bunch of quests that, on their own, don't mean much, but the experience is what makes that "book" special. That's it, I'd recommend Piranesi for some, but everytime I say that it feels odd, it's an odd book. I wanna finish it when I get my imagination a bit better, then I'll say what I think about it. as a lifelong reader and walker, i really really loved this. never thought of things this way, but you're absolutely right. and i did need the reminder that i don't always need to be reading for a specific purpose, aiming for a specific outcome--it's valuable to read just for the sake of reading :)

Great video! I love taking evening walks with my family. It’s something so simple but it makes us all feel better. On a completely different note, I heard about something recently and wondered if you had any thoughts on it. There’s this thing called Magibook that makes classic, “hard” books easier to read. For example, it can turn this from The Great Gatsby, “In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since.” Into this “When I was young, my dad told me something that I still think about.” I personally think this is a terrible thing because it completely changes the book and eliminates the vocabulary. It makes me think of Theseus paradox, like if all the words in a book are replaced, is it the same book? Everyone in my family agreed that this was a bad thing except my dad, who said as someone who would never read complicated books, it could give him the chance. Anyway, I’d live to hear what you think about this. (If you want to.) Love your videos.

This is probably the most important video of yours yet The one small gripe i had with your channel was that it seemed like it presupposed that reading was something that had to be justified with good *reasons to read*. And though I really enjoyed the reasons you did give, the small little thoughts, the ideas and perspectives… but all the time i was like ,why are you trying to justify this whole thing’ and i loved how you liberated yourself from this here and the idea with a walk is a beautiful analogy to illustrate Thank you so much

I have a few times walked AND read simultaneously. You need to have a time and place where you are able to do both safely, but it's crazy that, for a couple of times, what I was reading while walking has remained with me vividly. There must be some science of brain activation in there somewhere.

I love these simple, down to earth vids so much. I'm currently weaning myself off excessive social media use, and whenever I feel down, I remind myself that although I'd given up fun reading while going to school, afterwards, a decade later, I picked up Mark Lawrence's "Red Sister", and learned to love reading again. It's about the same process here, except we're all a little older and that little bit wiser. So read plenty, everyone, and take just as many walks.

every single one of these videos is a wonder i completely agree when i decided to re-read my favorite book (in the dream house) i realized that the first time around i missed some very interesting details for example: on the very first page of the book she mentions that one of her friends has a degree in library economy when i first read that book, i didn't pay attention to that but the second time around, when I was on my second semester of college studying library economy, that little detail popped out to me and i saw that whole section of the book differently i love these walks!!

Your videos were one of the reasons I'm back to reading after so many years. Instead of worrying whether I would understand the content of the book or not, now I'm just reading for the sake of reading. So, thanks.

I do like to read but actually tend to prefer an ebook to a physical book. Mainly because I like to read several things in parallel and have all of them on me, and the ability to change the font size and backlight are also nice. I recently picked up a paperbook and found the experience quite difficult because of the last two - just strains my eyes so much more. That said, this is a great video, and you raise some very compelling points, and conceptually I agree with you, just thought I'd share my perspective. As for what books I'd like to have around in case of an apocalypse, for info I'd probably like something about medicine and first aid; and for entertainment I'm choosing the Earthsea series by Ursula Le Guin!

Earlier this year I read The Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus. I picked it up mainly because of the Sisyphus memes and didn't realize what I was getting into. I quickly found it way more philosophical than I expected and making tons of references to the works of people that I only had shallow knowledge of like Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Dostoevsky, Kafka, and more. Even though it was difficult to fully understand everything, I still found it interesting and very fulfilling to read. I then went on to watch some videos that go into further depth about the topic to better understand it.
