His career came together around his particular skills and interests. It would be very odd indeed if someone else could perform exactly the same tricks as well as he does.
What people don't realise is: He isn't trying to convince you what he's doing is real, he's trying to make you see that you will continue to deny that it is real, even when he tells you it isn't real. That as human beings we will always defy information we are given, even when it's already our belief already. No part of this act is real, nor does he claim it is.
He even says at the start of the show that he was sent to NLP nutcases to "cure" him of his gayness, and realised that NLP was BS. Then he proceeds to pretend to be using NLP, among other such nonsense, for an hour, and people think there's something to it. At least he's more honest about it now than he was when he first got big, and seemed determined to make people think that he was using phychological skills and body language and NLP and subliminal suggestion and all that bullshit
Well the point is not if it's real or not, as he admits it's not. The point is, how is the trick performed? If it's simply actors payed to say what he wants, which is the most likely scenario, that's pretty lame. If not, that would be very interesting.
@@w_szon3115 No. Derren Brown is amazing for a lot of reasons, but he doesn't have supernatural insight. (Or any supernatural abilities that other people don't have) What is special about him is he is extremely creative, more so than most other people alive. And I'm not going to tell you I know how he did that trick. But I can think of possible ways to do it. Almost everything you see Derren Brown do, over 90% of the world's population could do it as well if he were to tell them the exact method and help them practice. There is no form of psychology that would allow you to guess or intuit that somebody got bit by a monkey in Gibralter. I realize he does all kinds of real amazing psychological tricks in a lot of his performances, but that was too spot on. My best guess is that came from some sort of pre-show work, possibly well before the show. But I honestly don't know. Don't have a clue. I'm willing to stretch my belief that he could actually have a crazy memory, and that it was a memory trick (like having people fill out a survey when they buy their ticket), though I doubt it. But I'm not at all willing to believe he can look at a person and intuit that they got bit by a monkey in gibralter, or anything else that specific. He would be able to win James Randi's million dollar prize if he had that ability, and winning that would make anybody so notorious; there is no way Derren Brown would turn that down.
@@TheDobstopper When Derren decides to retire, I hope he does one last tour teaching audiences a quarter to a third of his techniques, including the very best one but not the next two. (not that specific; just an example) By teaching only a fraction, other people in a similar line of work will have to be more imaginative by an achievable amount. Edit: or a Master Class instead of a tour
Possibly done by researching some of the people attending or recording conversations in the lobby. You could find this information easily if it’s on their Facebook profile for example. Commonly done by ‘psychics’ and exposed by derren before now... so I’d bet that’s a technique he uses often.
There are magnets under the bowls for the dice, so the number/trick is pre determined, the rice grains were already in his hand despite what he says when he grabs them out the bowl...he did something similar on James Corden show where it is much more obvious.
Derren is quite amazing. By telling us all the things he is not, he distracts from what he is, a conjurer, and that is all. Many of his tricks are very old, and very well know techniques. I've seen him do a routine on television, using a gimmick anyone can buy for $2 in any magic shop. This is his genius, and why he blows minds wherever he goes.
frott scost I have already taught it to three, and they regularly perform the same trick. Derren is all about presentation, and the double bluff of him telling you how it’s done. Incidentally I taught those people as I refined the gimmick a little bit to improve it.
Some of you are a bit rude by calling him a scam artist. It is just entertainment. It is fun because it is a play on human fantasy. It is staged and well staged. Just have fun with it. That is all it is there for.
well said. i say don't watch it if your gona moan i think derren is an amazing person nd hate when people call him out like you said its only for entertainment purposes
he is seeking help of satan/muwakkil and hiding this fact in name of science. many people, sadhus, Molvis here (in india) can do it. its nothing scientific.
It's not an impressive coincidence. Many people live along many bus routs. Since Derren was going to name 'some' bus rout, a significant proportion of all of the people who lived along whatever bus rout he was going to name would have seen this show. When they saw it they would think wow, what a coincidence! It's a coincidence for 'you' just as it is a coincidence for everyone who wins the lottery each week.
@@MarkLucasProductions Not quite a coincidence as such. The bus route chosen was very close to where he grew up which is where I live. He actually went to a school 5 minutes away from mine. The only coincidence here is that I live in the same area that he grew up
Psychic reading is done every day by so called "mediums" and "psychics" in their stage shows and online. It is an act, which can be done by anyone with training.
36:12 he tells the kid the box is empty then makes the kid hypnotize himself and then shows the kid the empty box 3000 people have been looking at the whole time 😂 I wonder if he could've kept it going and the kid would look right at an empty box and still describe feeling an aeroplane. Could point at the empty box and say what colour is the aeroplane And the kid would've probably had an answer Best hypnosis mark ever lol
1:04:31 Suspect how his right hand was out of sight, and close to his sides. 1:04:43 Pretty sure he was emptying the 22 grains of rice from a thumb tip (a fake thumb sleeve magicians use to hide small items inside). But to even predict that the 2 people at the end would have rolled 2 & 2 is insane.
So it was specifically said there was no backround research done. So how can he guess the monkey bite? Any way of getting the info beforehand is backround research.
Ray Perry I was lucky enough to meet him once after one of his shows and he is such a charming, likeable person. I'm amazed by how he understands the human mind!
Ray Perry yeah honestly he is, very polite and friendly and not a single ounce of arrogance or pretentiousness. Very humble. I really wish more people were like him but I'm a huge fan. I'd love him to do more stage shows!
He is so good, loved his shows since 1st show years ago when did the fall asleep answering telephone trick, trick of mind, but how the F he got that telephone number is just insane, random number from a random guy added to a random bus route is just inexplicable to me
If you don't want the trick spoiled, don't read ahead. ... ... ... Any time a mentalist or a magician asks someone to write something down on a piece of paper or a board, you can be 100% certain they're using a gimmicked pen that looks like an ordinary pen but which transmits everything you write to a remote receiver. There are dozens of them available from all sorts of magic suppliers. From there it should be obvious how a lot of Derren's stage magic works.
He even says so himself. These people haven't read his books. They're soooo desperate for the "body language" and "subliminal suggestions" nonsense to be real. Derren is a fantastic showman, and he's actually a really, really good card magician, but this whole mentalism thing is extremely dishonest. Illusions never used to act like their tricks were real, but now we have Derren pretending to bu using secret psychological skills (which he does NOT possess), we got Blaine pretending to be doing extreme physical feats, we got Chriss Angel and Dynamo using camera tricks, actors, post production effects, etc. I don't like the way it's going. It's not its own skill anymore. It's just acting by another name
Ash Scott I couldn’t agree more, I wish every one agreed that mentalists = magicians. Period. Even when Derren says he lies blatantly all the time, a lot of people end up believing his subliminal influencing claims. The guy tells us NOT to believe him. Can’t we just enjoy the show, which is great, and all agree at the end that it was fiction?
Ash Scott Derren makes it very clear that he does not possess psychic powers. In fact, he doesn’t like psychics and publicly works to disprove them. He is showing the audience that psychics are not real and that they should not go and see one or pay them.
same thing basically, 'cold' and 'hot' reading if I'm remembering correctly. He talks about it somewhere; 'cold' is general information, educated guesses, and 'hot' is the reaction to that cold information, and body language and whatever clues only he and a handfull of ppl can see
I won't say as it would spoil for others but it isnt hot and cold reading as the hits are far too exact. How he does it is quite obvious and if you listen he says "these isn't a controlled environment". He isn't playing fair 😂😂
Weird... I was thinking I would've drawn a car or a bottle, then the kid's description sounds like a bottle at first, followed by Derren saying it could be a car or something related to transport, haha
You would’ve chosen what he wanted you to choose😂 that’s what he does you can say “I would’ve chosen” but odds are you’d choose exactly what he wanted you too
He has a massive wire that connects to just above his ear, sound can travel through your skull or bone, so just because he says he hasn't got an ear piece makes no difference, he is obviously being fed information.
@@redandwhitewizard77 I'm not sure where in the show he would actually 'need' to be fed audio information but your assertion that "he clearly shows that it isn't an earpiece" is ridiculous.

His career came together around his particular skills and interests. It would be very odd indeed if someone else could perform exactly the same tricks as well as he does.
I was on the bus and this affected me. Some say I'm still there
Lol
Not only it is brilliant, but the ending is just hilarious.
Either a brilliant setup and bluff, or this guy is highly observant, highly perceptive & intellectual.
Yes. All of that
Derren is such a unique brilliant talent
First time I see hypnosis used as misdirection, that's really clever.
Absolute superb, brilliant, world class entertainer.
he should have been casted in the movie *now you see me* as the psychic with mind powers!

People dont understand what he really does
Well the point is not if it's real or not, as he admits it's not. The point is, how is the trick performed? If it's simply actors payed to say what he wants, which is the most likely scenario, that's pretty lame. If not, that would be very interesting.
I wonder how many phone calls poor Amanda got after the show. :)
not a big deal after the show, more like now that's online.. well, she's fucked.
i'm thinking about calling her right now.....
I'll bet that number was not her actual phone number.
Enough for a quick slay or 3
@@MrMustangMan call her and ask her if she’s keen to give you her nickers and socks… the ones she wore at work all day.
Then sniff them.
But even with psychology, you can't possibly figure out that someone's grandmother got bitten by at monkey at Gibraltar. That's just insane.
that's called research on people/psychology
@@TheDobstopper stfu punk
I would love Derren to visit the Long Island Medium show here in the US :)
The amount of calls Amanda was getting after this show!
He is one fabulous entertainer, no matter what he does I choose to believe. I would love to attend one of his shows. All the very best Darren Brown.
I was on the bus too and totally into this until I was awakened by the screams of my passengers

I have a challenge for you, take that gimmick and try to teach it to 5 people and see how successful you are....then get back to me
frott scost I have already taught it to three, and they regularly perform the same trick. Derren is all about presentation, and the double bluff of him telling you how it’s done. Incidentally I taught those people as I refined the gimmick a little bit to improve it.
There's nothing for $2 in a magic shop. Seriously, not even incense are $2.

Derren Brown taking off Joe Power i think. lol nice 1
Joe certainly, but also mixing in two other Liverpool fakes, the late Derek Acorah, and the totally fake Billy Roberts.
Mad what a coincidence. I literally live along that 463 bus route😂
The only coincidence here is that I live in the same area that he grew up
or do you?
Derren is an amazing illusionist! I've watched so much of his stuff, but I still have no idea how he does the physic reading stuff.
Psychic reading is done every day by so called "mediums" and "psychics" in their stage shows and online. It is an act, which can be done by anyone with training.
I'd argue what he does is even more impressive than if he could actually talk to the dead.
Darren you are awesome. Thank you❤

Why did it effect me at home hahahah
36:12 he tells the kid the box is empty then makes the kid hypnotize himself and then shows the kid the empty box 3000 people have been looking at the whole time 😂
I wonder if he could've kept it going and the kid would look right at an empty box and still describe feeling an aeroplane.
Could point at the empty box and say what colour is the aeroplane
And the kid would've probably had an answer
Best hypnosis mark ever lol

What is that piano music when Adam is on the stage. It’s so peaceful
Am I the only one thinking about the part where he took out some stuff from Adam's stomach using his fingers.. I still dont know what it was.. 🤔
Yeah I'm so confused as to why that happened for no reason and wasn't question after by the audience or by most of this comments section
He just makes me cry at the end. Simply astounding
Because that's a lie. Of course there's background information
I just wanted to point out that making two Rubik's Cubes match one another blindfolded is exactly as difficult as solving it blindfolded.

In this comment section: people that don't get why Derren does what he does. That it's all fake magic is the whole point.
Yeah
Ash Scott Derren makes it very clear that he does not possess psychic powers. In fact, he doesn’t like psychics and publicly works to disprove them. He is showing the audience that psychics are not real and that they should not go and see one or pay them.

he didnt explain the speaking with dead act or did i missed how that trick is done? all the rest tricks are well known
same thing basically, 'cold' and 'hot' reading if I'm remembering correctly.
Stunning!
Weird... I was thinking I would've drawn a car or a bottle, then the kid's description sounds like a bottle at first, followed by Derren saying it could be a car or something related to transport, haha
