✅ Spot welding and Painting a Totaled Mazda CX-5
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- In this video I'm going to finalize the build of my Totaled 2021 Mazda CX-5. It was originally purchased from Copart with severe front end damage including both frame rails and one strut tower that were pushed over that required a use of a frame rack to be put back into place. In this video I will tackle the rest of the repairs that include metal working and and doing Bondo on one of the doors and then getting all of the parts painted and getting the car fully assembled. As usual, this video will be packed with a ton of helpful information as it's always a learning experience.

The Mazda turned out like it had never been damaged. That wreck looked almost un-repairable, but you turned it back into a nice car again. Great range of tips through the video also.
Yeah this Mazda did get smacked pretty good, I usually don't get into repairs that require that much work. But I think in the end it was still worth it, wife sure enjoys driving it
I have only watched this rebuild but I can safely say I’m impressed by you work. I’m impressed with you attention to detail and admire the pride you take in your work. 👍

Hey @Fix206 I clicked the bell because I almost missed these amazing DIY videos! Thanks for sharing the knowledge, products, and technique! That color is gorgeous, congrats!
Thank you !!
Amazing video!! Keep up the good work sir 👏 👍
Thanks Joe, will do!
Okay it's done, what's next? 😂😂 Love your videos.
I have finished and filmed so many projects, not even sure which one I should do a video on next...
@fix206 all of them!! Your fans demand more!! Couple a week for starters should work for now. I have watched every single one of your videos, and they are all very good. Great content, with explanations that anyone can understand. Keep up the good work 👏
Great job, appreciate the detailed discussion on how to paint here in the pacific northwest. Guess that explains why my paint orange pealed when I painted in direct sunlight with the cheap purple harbor crap paint gun.
That's a double no no right there 🤣🤣
That turned out great, the airbags now days create a huge expense in repairing vehicles.
Only steering wheel airbag went off and also the seatbelts were locked up. Funny thing, replacement air bag that I got actually came out of a 2017 Mazda 3. That way it was cheaper than buying one for CX5. I can't believe it actually worked 😉
Glad your back. I have to build one of those dent pullers. Looks like a game changer. I have the LPH400 and an Iwata Bellaria(same as Kiwami4). Both are awesome and spray beautifully but the Bellaria is a bit faster. Nice work. Cheers👍
That dent puller is the best tool in my arsenal of metal working tools. It Will definitely up your metalworking game!
Great job! The car got factory finish!
Thank you!!
another good video to learn, thank you!!! 🙂👍👍
Appreciate it, Eric 👍
Great video man!
Appreciate it!
At only 50 thousand subscribers this channel is a hidden gem! So glad it popped up for me to start watching. You do awesome work and the lazer is awesome. How did you learn to do frame repair like that?
Thanks Tyler ! I'm working on getting more views, but it ain't easy... Believe it or not I learned how to do frame repair by educating myself on that topic right here on UA-cam. Frame repair was definitely something that scared me in the past since I didn't really know how to approach it. But after learning ALOT from watching a bunch of videos on this topic, I got a lot more confident and once I built my frame rack I was able to apply the knowledge into practice and it just worked ! And now I share what I've learned with all of my viewers 😎
That is brilliant for a home repair better than some commercial repairs that I have seen well done. 👍👍
Thank you! Appreciate it👍
Awesome video!
Appreciate it !!
Excellent explanation of process. Thank you
Thank you for watching!
Welcome back
😊😊😊
Nice work!
Благодарю!!
You deserve more views
Thanks man... I'm working on getting them views 😎
Brilliant
I Appreciate that!
Good stuff ! ❤
Thanks ✌
I truly love watching these videos and learning from you!! Keep making these videos as I’m learning every day!!
Just a quick note that your link here for final sand does not work ..
Thanks man, I will check into that link, thanks for letting me know!
And the frame rack
Wow
😎
Excellent video, I would like to know where you get the new panels.
When it comes to bumpers, fenders, hoods, lights and some doors, you can acquire those panels either from a dealer or through an aftermarket auto parts distributor. However when it comes to structural parts, that would be dealer only items
In Michigan you have to have a body shop approve your work. It's not fair because you still have a salvage title.
In my state I have to take the car to an inspection where they mainly just check the receipts for all of the major replacement parts only to make sure that the parts aren't stolen.. They could care less about how well the vehicle has been fixed 😵💫
After the body shop inspection, police inspectors check receipts. Each one charges money. It you'st to be only 50$ and you were done. One police inspector. My bitch is if you have to have a body shop inspection also it should be a clean title again.
FINALLY!
I know... Sorry It took this long 👍
Amazing work. Can we ask how much you paid for it and how much you sold it for ?
Price of the car plus parts and paint, altogether I am into it about $11.5K... I got this car all done in June of last year, so at that time I could have sold it for right around $22-$24K.. But I did not buy it to flip it, it's been my wife's daily driver for over a year and she is going to continue driving it until I get something nicer down the road 😁
Hello from P.R excelent job
Hello there!
badass man
Thanks, man !!
Great vid surprised how paint turned out no both I’m also in wa and want to paint a bumper any tips
All of the tips that I got I include in these videos. As long as you follow them, you should be all right 👍
Доброго дня. Дуже цікаві відео. Буду дуже вдячний за список інструментів який ви використовуєте. Дякую велике за ваш час.
Благодарю! список инструментов и материалов находится под видосом в описании
I have good knowledge about body work, I will give you 100 over 100
You are amazing, two people meet my criteria my friend Kostas and you.
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Do you have any opinions on premium paint cans? Places that mix it based on a sample panel you provide
I bought the same harborfrieght gun as in your video for 1-3x rare use for my repair. But now not so sure if I should use it for a good decent matching paint job
But also don't want to spend on a gun I'll only use once every 5yrs
Problem with rattle cans is: Very low output, very narrow uneven fan, low air pressure that leads to uneven application, all of that equals poor quality finish. I"d use a can to paint a lawn mower, but not a car
Awesome work and videos, do you recommend a an online course or training for auto body repair?
Online source of training for autobody repair is exactly what I strive to bring to you guys through my videos :)
Hi ! How much of your time did you spend repairing this Mazda?
If I had all off the parts on hand and I put in 8 hours a day on it, this car would be done in one week... But I worked on in off and on whenever I had time over the course of couple months. It's actually been on the road for over a year since July 2023. I haven't had much time to work on the videos, so I'm a bit behind on my Video schedule :)
Thanks for the answer. Good job. Good luck to you ))
No problem, thanks for watching !!
I went ahead and ordered the gun. What cups do you use to hold the paint? can you adapt the harbor crap ones to it or should what do you suggest to purchase and what air filter do you like just below the pressure gauge.
I have no experience with a cup system that HF may offer, but I have personally been using this Devilbiss cup system with great result for the past 5 years and you just can't go wrong for $25: amzn.to/47qIfBb. Also this is the adapter you would have to use to run Devilbiss cups on Kiwami4: amzn.to/3MLSVkm And even though the cups come with "disposable liners/lids" I just clean my liners/lids and keep reusing them for years. These basic inline air filters work good as an insurance policy for when you're painting to keep that moisture out: amzn.to/3ZpVoZp
Where do you get body panels?
Any website recommendations 😊
Structural panels would be dealer only items
Video on building your puller
Are you talking about the frame puller?
@@fix206 the small dent puller with the red cover , I believe you said you made it using s old microwave
Here is the link to that build: ua-cam.com/video/j6UgtCN5vzU/v-deo.html
Can you list me everything I need for my body work, like laser everything I need for them?
Check the video description...
How much is the investment in tools like the frame puller etc?
Frame puller I built myself.. I actually did a video on that build. If you are interested here is a link to that video: ua-cam.com/video/krCki0BT8Fw/v-deo.html
0:11 what is the name of the tool your using to weld and pull the dent on the door at the very beginning of this vid? It's not listed in your description of tools.
It's called a spotter... I built it, here is a very detailed video on how I did it: ua-cam.com/video/j6UgtCN5vzU/v-deo.html
@@fix206 sorry.. I was referring specifically to the spot weld tool attachment with the grip. I have only ever seen slide hammer style tools. ty
What was the belt sander that you used? Was it electric?
It called an Electric file, here is a link to the one I use: amzn.to/4cToRxP
Where did ypu get the measurements diagram ?? I cannot find them for my 08 lexus is250 thanks
I went over where I get my chassis measurements in this video: ua-cam.com/video/h1KnIMv08N0/v-deo.html
How do your neighbors allow this?
I am cool with all of my neighbors, I generally don't make too much noise. And most of the work that I do is on the weekdays during the hours that most of my neighbors are out at work anyways, so I'm not really bothering anyone...
He speak a littlebith too fastly for me, but very good work. Well Done.
To be honest, I speak even faster in real life... I keep reminding myself to slow down in my videos... :)
Good job!! Wish I had ur talent & tools!
Thank you! When it comes to tools I normally don't spend much on them, buy most of them I acquired secondhand to save money or build tools that I cannot buy or afford :) as far as the talent goes, I'd say it's more of an application of things that I've learned over the past 20 years plus some ingenuity rather than talent 😎
